  1. Im just posting my experience on thsi mission. Every other mission i've played with on all the other classes for the starting zone is not as hard as this one. its a level 10 mission. I tried it at level 8 and died, killed a bit and reached level 9. its doable at 9 if you kill a couple of the side guys and then die and rez and kill the last officer by himself. Considering how easy the other quests were, i found this one a little odd that it stuck out like this. Its for sure doable at 10 with all skills trained and a medpack if needed. However, considering you walked in there at about 8(like me) or 9, its pretty hard. Weird how a few of the responses to the OP were blah blah you shouldn't be playing this game if you can't finish this quest. Stuff like "you dont have good enough gear". There isn't any gear other than what you get from quests. Or "you're not using your abilities properly". At level 8 and 9, there are only 5-6 abilities that you could properly use in thsi battle including the 2min cooldown one. I tapped them all and in the correct order and i still had to die to finish the last officer because i had to clear the two side guys. What else could you do other than sticky bomb one guy, hit him with the "triggered" supershot, then the 3 second autoblast, then use whatever is left until you kill the second side guy? By that time, a medpac wouldn't heal you high enough to take down the officer. At level 10, you'll finish this properly, but if you aren't there yet, its a pain.
  2. it would be nice to explain what error you're seeing and computer specs. this thread is gonna get moved to a nother section in the morning
  3. http://www.torstatus.net/ i'm starting a new guy on harbringer. seems decent population for repub. be aware that many servers have a messed up repub:empire ratio. mostly empires.
  4. Besides all the marketing and playing subbers with cheap hotfixes and patches, i find the game to be quite poorly designed in many key areas. I'll name a couple for those who dont know. Confusing auction house, useless crew skills, and broken pvp matches. However, i got one main gripe that was simply too easy to fix and terribly implemented. Its the difficulty of leveling your character. Its not a challenge to level your character from level 1 to 50. The first 10 or so levels were easy enough and could be explained by the fact that its a starting phase, but it just gets easier and easier after that. Compound that with the fact that getting exp is a joke. You'll find yourself overleveled by the time your level 30 and all your quests are green if you simply run through all the content including bonus objectives and flashpoints. Also, if you decided to get the best gear possible for your level, you'll literally never die in anything. Don't mind the fact that if you repeated a few flashpoints or did all the space battles, new quests would all be greyed out. This is where I find someone really screwed up the leveling experience with swtor. How are we suppose to get around this problem of being overpowered for our questing experience? Are we to avoid the flashpoint aspect of the game and completely ignore space battles or even pvp'ing during leveling? I find the whole point of getting good gear to be trivial as there is no difference between getting the best stuff and walking around in greens. Besides this fact, if you want to get good gear, you'll end up becoming overleveled from the exp gained through flashpoints. Enemies still die in the same amount of hits whether or not you have good gear, give or take a few hits. If they increased the exp requirements to level like other successful mmos like wow(not pandering to wow, but you gotta admit it did good) at about level 25, the game would be so much nicer. Some quests would become a challenge instead of steamrolling them to Ilum. At least it would feel like you are hitting the content properly. Whats the whole point of leveling if all you do is walk around 5 levels above your quests, which makes the game too easy. This wouldn't even leave any poorly skilled players behind either. All they'll do is experience a slight grind to become overleveled or pick up enough good gear through means like flashpoints and the game will still be enjoyable to everyone. I have a feeling bioware made this game "playable" for everyone at the expense of difficulty level. This is where i feel someone slept at the switch. I dont know what they are thinking, but its sorta safe to assume that the game was designed to appeal to everyone and not exclude a single possible consumer. The problem with this reasoning is that it screws up the game experience. What kind of person would quit a game that was slightly difficult? One could argue that they just decided to design the game this way. I personally think that whoever was in charge of this aspect of the game is really outta touch with what makes a game good. Possible explanations for thsi would again be the fact that they played it safe trying to appease everyone since its a 130 million dollar investment. However, i feel like somebody was, simply put, too chicken. Well thats my point of view. I played all the classes up to at least about level 30ish and such something on empire side and i wanted to quit. This game is not up to par with what i expected would be a brand new mmo. They seemed to have caved into the demands of the failures of other mmos and do not know what a fun game is. I can see how some complaints like "the grind being too much" and "we want to see some new features" or "too much gold farming" messed up the game. For one thing, unlike other fun games, in game credits are worthless at higher levels. Hit level 50 and stuff liek repair wont hit your wallet. Gold farmers dont even bother anymore with thsi game cause credits dont matter. Take it as a good thing or bad thing, but they just eliminated a key aspect of mmos. Others like the unique crafting skills didn't really amount to much. They covered everything, but are they really useful at all? Also, like my whole rant, the grind is horrible. It almost feels bad to get exp because i know it'll ruin the experience later. Who made a 130 million dollar investment so boring and made it a "bleh" experience? I would have expected more from talented people.
  5. Have you guys tried to make the camera zoom out further?? mines at about 35%. It looks so much nicer. Sometimes it screws up though and a little roll of the mouse wheel fixes it. IT makes you feel like your watching an actual battle rather than clicking something in first person.
  6. Dont bother. Just do all the heroics on the planets and choose the commendation reward instead of the green they offer from quests. This should set you up for enough to upgrade your mods or get new gear. Either that or go on the Galactic Trade Network kiosk and buy mods instead of using commendations for them.
  7. Newer windows versions have more support for stuff. If your stuck with XP, then its fine. Vista will use more resources of course, but XP is outdated. I'd put the extra 100 bucks on a new video card.
  8. 64 bit windows isnt gonna make your computer faster. Yes 32 bit is limited to 4gb so you wont even use more than that.
  9. for leveling up. Keep oranges. Trade in commendations at each planet to "mod" them up to the highest level mods you can get at that planet. Repeat at every planet. If you like the look of a new orange, use your commendations for those. It adds up to about 11 commendations for armor to upgrade every mod piece for that armor. Its 12 commendations for a complete new orange armor with the same mods. Blue and oranges with the same level mods are equivalent to each other. Purples are better than the two for their level gear.
  10. maybe someday when their servers can handle more players is when we could probably find an even server. If you popped everyone on 1 single server, you would have enough players on both sides just simply because there are a sufficient number of players to play with. However, since we are forced to spread the player base across a few select busy servers, people tend to try to join the side with more guys. Compound this with the perk of an "evil sith empire", people are just gonna go empire side. This starts the chain effect of everyone playing on one faction. So its not worth it to start going on repbublic for new characters/players because there isnt even a sufficient republic player base to start with. BTW, i play the sith side, but i would have been on republic because I find their weapons and companions much prettier.
  11. Playing a Sin and my guy seems to light up more during combat. It looks so much better now, but I dont know why its like this. Is it because they fixed the ability delay and also added some extra graphics effects with it too?
  12. Well if your playing at 1920x1080, your not gonna use the extra 1GB of memory that the 2GB card has. More video memory usually means higher resolutions. http://www.overclock.net has a realy good forum for that. hope you got a powerful enough power supply to handle the new card
  13. I find that the 4 second RE time to apply to each mod that i make is quite time consuming. Is there a shortcut key to RE all the same items at once (mods and such that aren't stacked together).
  14. OP again. I would like to fully complete a zone and not think about how high level I am for the next planet. Maybe I didnt explain it full or some of you didnt' understand. I want the grind in there to make things competitive. Make it worth it to try to get good gear so that the quests would be easier instead of getting good gear and the quests being too easy that you could fall asleep doing them. I just find it odd that I actually have to avoid things like PVP/space battles, flashpoints and even bonus objectives to have a challenging experience during questing. And no, I dont find wearing greens instead of blues a good thing either. If not to limit the exp from quests, at least make all the side things that i mentioned previously produce less experience. Its like a catch up game with experience as it currently is. Just a reverse one though.
