  1. In which case, as has been said (particularly by me!) on a number of occasions, the answer to this is... allow self-gratification! Er... no, that isn't a cry to allow dubious practices within the game, it is a plea for the option to "Toggle XP on or off" at will. It would simply allow people to level at their own pace without making it easier than it is at the moment or any harder for those happy with the current situation.
  2. Out of interest, at the start of the 3rd flashpoint did you say anything along the lines of "Hey all, my 3rd flashpoint today with no loot rolls won at all - is it ok then if I roll need if something drops for my companion as well as me?" Just a thought, it might have saved you some grief.
  3. Hi all, My playstyle is to level up to 50 fairly equally through planetary questing (just me and my companion), for which I need some fairly decent dps skills, and by playing as a sawbones healer in flashpoints. With this in mind I want to play some form of hybrid healer/scrapper but I am unsure what tree spec to go with. Here are a couple I have in mind: Spec 1 leaning towards sawbones: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#701McfbdGoRzZMIModk.1 Spec 2 leaning towards scrapper: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#701Mcf0zZMIModkrff.1 Given what I said above, any help in choosing between the two (and suggestions for changes) would be welcome
  4. I do not mean any direct offence to you, Gankdalf, but when people describe a review as the most accurate/best/insightful, etc. review they have seen/read, what they usually mean (sometimes without realising it) is that it is the one that most closely matches their own opinions. Reviews (good or bad) are more often subjective than objective, as are peoples' opinions (that's just human nature).
  5. Well said Saice, and you aren't on your own - I do that as well. I still feel an even better way would be to include a "need for companion" tier of rolling between "Need" and "Greed", and to make the highest priority straight "Need" roll only appear as an option if the item is useable by the character rolling. However, in the absence of such game mechanics you are absolutely correct in making the point that common courtesy is usually a winner.
  6. And if you can click "Quit" the game doesn't want you to play it at all... (um... if that sounds trollish that wasn't my intention, just pointing out the flaw in your logic. )
  7. I'm not sure whether to stare in shock, chuckle after reading it, do a /facepalm, or slip slowly towards the door while muttering "Nurse, we need the screens for this one...". Either way, nice post Tokeee, you made me smile.
  8. "Loot Rule for our run: If you want to roll need for a companion say so before the roll, if someone else needs it for their main character your 'companion need' will not be permitted. If you don't stick to this rule you will be kicked." There, took me less than 30 seconds to type, I challenge anyone to misinterpret.
  9. I'm really happy for you (and I am, honestly, no hint of sarcasm there!) that you do like the current levelling speed - and that is why myself and many others in support of an option to reduce or stop xp gain do not want anything introduced that would affect things adversely for players such as yourself. A "Toggle XP On/Off" choice in the Preferences would help us, and wouldn't hurt you. Everyone would be happy
  10. There are so many useful abilities as a Scoundrel that I find having a Logitech G13 controller an absolute godsend... and I still use all the buttons! http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q359/Kalthorine/SWTOR/G13SWTORplannerjpg.jpg See
  11. Oh I would never condone staying silent about an issue that troubles you - so long as you then articulate your concerns in a rational way (like you did) rather than resort to trolling and wailing, as has too often been the case on these forums. I suppose what I was trying to do in my post was to support your point of view, but to try and say that I believe it will be rectified in time because of how things like this in MMO's evolve. Until it is, however, please keep flagging it up as an issue, because the more it is mentioned the quicker that evolution will probably happen!
  12. I do like the principle of using modded orange items for customisation purposes, but I do agree that at the moment an "orange + commendation mods" piece of kit makes crafting somewhat redundant. However, I am not particularly worried at the moment. While I feel that balance between mob drops, commendation items and crafted items should have been optimised much better before the game was released, the game is still young and I hope that it will be addressed over time.
  13. I'd hope that most people would take the common sense approach to this of: 1) Having enough sense to agree loot rules beforehand with respect to rolling need for companions. 2) Have the courtesy to abide by them. However, it seems that this is not the majority approach and would still be open to abuse by the more unscrupulous players, so I would propose the following instead (although it would be unlikely to be implemented): 1) Do not allow people to roll "need" unless their character can use a drop. 2) Add an extra tier of rolling: "need for companion", which would fall below "need" but above "greed". So item rolling would look like the following (in decreasing order of priority): NEED (only selectable if the character rolling can actually equip/use the item) NEED FOR COMPANION GREED PASS Much less ninja-ing if this were put in place, in my opinion.
  14. This has been mentioned in numerous other threads, but is no less valid because of it. I completely agree with most points on this thread: Yes, the music is epic when it kicks in. No, it doesn't play anywhere near enough. Yes, the game came feel empty without it (whether you notice it or not, background music really adds to the "soul" of any game played). And finally, most definitely yes: if it isn't going to play more often than it is, a "loop music" option would be most welcome.
  15. Try this as well (it worked for me): 1) Use the Logitech mouse sotware application to set the keybindings on your mouse. 2) Save the bindings on-board the mouse 3) Uninstall the mouse software application (not the drivers, obviously, just the key binding software). I know it sounds weird and I was sceptical when I was given the advice, but it actually worked!
  16. Have you tried running it in "windowed full screen" mode, selectable in the graphics preference screen?
  17. I'd challenge you to get 4 quickbars-worth of keybinds onto a nostromo --> http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q359/Kalthorine/SWTOR/G13SWTORplannerjpg.jpg <---
  18. I'd pay good money right now if the majority of people with opposing views on this thread (not you Kourage!) would realise that they really aren't going to change each others' opinions now matter how long this thread continues... let's all just agree to disagree shall we? Who was it who said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?
  19. nostromo = small game controller http://drh2.img.digitalriver.com/DRHM/Storefront/Company/razerusa/images/product/gallery/razer-nostromo-gallery4.jpg G13 = still small (not a full keyboard but bigger than a nostromo): http://static.trustedreviews.com/94%7c1e833e%7c99e5_10416-img8791s.jpg G510 = big (full keyboard): http://www.logitech.com/assets/31330/gaming-keyboard-g510.png That any clearer?
  20. The Logitech G510 is an excellent piece of kit, but it is a full keyboard as opposed to a small-footprint left-hand game controller like the G13 or the nostromo.
  21. Thanks for the thumbs-up TruCompany. Yes some people will still find exception to the idea, but I have yet to hear a valid reason why it could not be implemented, given that those who don't want it wouldn't suffer in any way if it were implemented.
  22. As I said in my post above that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Now I actually prefer the G13 now I am used to the larger button layout, but I can also understand those who say that the fewer buttons of the nostromo make it less likely for you to hit the wrong one... and in a tight PvP fight that can make a difference. Kinda playing the Devil's Advocate there though - I am used to the G13's larger layout now and I love it
  23. You can make macros with both the nostromo and the G13 - I would say the real differences between the two are ergomonics, price and size/number of buttons. The functionality of having more buttons (G13) is an advantage in my opinion but the larger size might not suit everyone.
  24. I haven't used the nostromo, but I can tell you that I wouldn't swap my G13 for anything. Oh, and for those with a G13 already (or planning to get one) you might want to take a look at this: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=177673
