  1. Why not have the 3rd faction be in between the the Rebels and Imperials? They already have it set up via the Light/Dark system. Sith Sorcerer, goes full Light Side, boom, has access to 3rd faction. Smuggler, goes full Dark Side, boom, has access to the 3rd faction. Would be awesome but the game/maps/zones/warzones/everything is totally not set up to handle this.
  2. It was a double edged sword for them though. Have a 50 bracket and then the first people hitting 50 would have HOURS before a queue popped. Don't have a 50 bracket and you get what we got. Tough situation, but I think they should have rolled out the 50 bracket about 2 weeks earlier.
  3. But the problem that game companies keep running into, is they are in the "set it and forget it" mode. They come up with a new "planet" or "zone" that will totally solve World PvP and they just let it rotate like clockwork every couple hours (Tol Barad for example). You can't do that. You need GMs to plan random events. Whether it is a random capture the flag in Tatooine or a Rebel force taking over some random spaceport. The ideas are endless, but you need active participation from the game developer to truly make PvP servers thrive.
  4. I agree with your last part. As to the first, I believe two-faction MMOs can work. Of course 1 side of players will be more inclined to PvP, that is a given. But if that 1 side is on a 50/50 server, it won't be a huge imbalance. If 1 side PvPs more on a server that is 60/40, it is more prominent, if it is 70/30, it is even worse. 50/50 servers put you on the most balanced footing you can have when it comes to the two-faction MMO. What needs to happen is PvP servers need to be handled completely differently. You can't just set things up and forget about it. You need to constantly be starting new events in different zones and constantly changing. You would almost need just 1 person to handle everything per server. PvP servers are a totally different animal and you need a game company who cares about that and wants them to thrive. So far, BioWare really hasn't shown that.
  5. Guess you can keep playing on your Empire server and enjoy those 100 vs 5 Ilum battles. As others have said before, Aion did this and had some decent success with it.
  6. I love comments like this. BioWare isn't telling you who to play. There would be plenty of normal PvP servers for you to play on and choose any faction you wish. This is just a solution to create a healthy PvP population server and see if it works. If it does, open up another one. If it continues to work, open up a new server but for transfers from the old PvP servers only. No one is forcing you to play the game nor is anyone forcing you to choose a side.
  7. You are correct about the 50% part, but at least you put the server on a more balanced surface where these type of issues won't be completely blown out of proportion as they are now on the current PvP servers. As for World PvP, I think you solve this by having more random planet events. You can't keep having queue windows, or on every Wednesday at 5pm this PvP event happens. PvP servers need a lot of TLC to keep them thriving. You need to create mini events all over the place so people have to move, try new things, new objectives, and not keep doing the same thing, over and over and over.
  8. It would be 1 server amongst all the other crap'fest imbalanced PvP servers there are right now. I guarantee you a server like this would be full instantly. World PvP is a joke because there are so many Imperials, it is ridiculous. Hell, I leveled from 1 to 38 before I saw my first Rebel player. And I was spending most of my time trying to find one! Some of these PvP servers are literal ghost towns when it comes to the Rebel population.
  9. Sure you would be forcing a server to have a population balance with "lockouts". But the long term health of a server like this would be healthy. You can't tell me a server that has a 5:1 Empire:Rebel ratio is good for PvP, the server, the game, and subscriptions in general.
  10. Unfortunately, it is the only way to get attention with the boards moving so fast. Ilum issue is a HUGE mistake and a lot of people are pissed.
  11. How is this idea stupid? You don't want a balanced server? You just want to sit in Ilum and PvP with a 100 vs 5 ration? Come on now...
  12. Nope. You lock it out, just like how PvP servers should be. You select one side and that is it.
  13. Let's face it, Empire way overpopulates any and all PvP servers. It is ridiculous and leads to unhealthy world PvP, Huttball 24/7, and Ilum domination. Sitting there rolling faces is fun for a couple minutes. Long term, it is not challenging and NOT FUN. Also, this isn't necessarily a BioWare problem. All MMOs run into faction balance issues where the gaming population favors 1 side or if a PvP server just evolves over time to be completely unbalanced (i.e. 5 to 1 faction ration). BioWare.... PLEASE do something revolutionary, please completely change the way PvP servers are handled. Please do the following: BRAND NEW PvP SERVER Limit account population to 2,000. 1,000 Republic and 1,000 Empire. Empire will obviously hit the cap of 1,000 first, and once they do, NO MORE ACCOUNTS CAN BE CREATED WITH EMPIRE CHARACTERS ON THIS SERVER. Yes, that means you have to pick a side on this server. No more dual Rebel/Empire character creation on this server. Once the Rebel population has reached within 100, so it is now 900 to 1,000, the Empire population is opened back up to a 1,100 cap. Once the 1,100 cap is reached, Empire side is locked out. Empire account character creation doesn't re-open until the Republic side hits the 1,000 mark for account population. This continues till the server is truly "full". It is pure genius and balances a server from the very beginning and leads to a HEALTHY WORLD PvP ENVIRONMENT. I would INSTANTLY re-roll if a server like this opened. INSTANTLY. HELL I WOULD PAY $30 A MONTH FOR A SERVER LIKE THIS.
  14. This ^^^ Or some incredibly smart buff system that puts the outnumbered side on the same level playing field. However, I have yet to see a smart buff system actually work. Or you can go with my idea.... BRAND NEW PvP SERVER Limit account population of 3,000. 1,500 Republic and 1,500 Empire. Empire will obviously hit the cap of 1,500 first, and once they do, NO MORE EMPIRE CHARACTERS MAY BE CREATED. Once the Rebel population has reached within 150, so it is now 1,350 to 1,500, the Empire population is opened up to 1,650. Once 1,650 is reached, Empire side is locked out. Empire side doesn't re-open until Republic side hits the 1,500 account population. This continues till the server is truly "full" It is pure genius and balances a server and leads to a HEALTHY WORLD PvP ENVIRONMENT. I would INSTANTLY re-roll if a server like this opened. INSTANTLY.
