  1. That's how it should be. Not the OP in this thread but in some others I believe the players are way out of line. There's a difference between respectfully requesting certain content and outrageously flaming just because you're mad you're not getting what you want. Any new addition should also be handled with great patience. No company is going to add a feature in a first couple weeks of it being asked for. It takes time for them to talk about it (something BW seems to do a lot of), implement it, test it, and then release it.
  2. Here's a noob question. What else is there? I've always found it hard to cap a character in all the MMOs I played because my interest in MMOs is sporadic at best. In other MMOs doesn't the game end once you get fully geared and run everything on Hardmode? Could it be that there is just less content as opposed to quality? ...Two questions really.
  3. All condescending remarks set aside, Pink Saber is spot on: I want to add more to that but there really is nothing left to say...
  4. I haven't had any problems with my server in this regard. Occasionally there will be that person who thinks he's funny but no one worth ignoring. I share my account with my sister and there was once where some guy left a group because she didn't know what CC was. Needless to say her group was able to complete the Heroic without him and his need to CC a rather simple mission. That's the only time me or anyone I know has had an issue with players in-game. There have been many times I wanted to slap some people here in the forums though...
  5. If I don't have a Red Bull there will usually be water close by. I used to drink a lot of hot chocolate while I played but I quit that because of the dairy =/
  6. I'm satisfied with the change. I have finger memory for my abilities so most of the time I don't even need to see what's in cooldown as long as I can tell the GCD is still going. For the longer cooldowns I'm able see the icon long before it's ready to use. I do think that there should be additional options in Preferences to change things like brightness. I even checked not long after I realized the new cooldown indicator. If the community presses the issue I don't see why BioWare wouldn't add the feature when they are ready to launch more custom options for the UI.
  7. Makes sense. I suppose there is also distinction between interrupting an ability and causing certain conditions that prematurely end an ability... Either way - this is why I asked about it on the forums before submitting a ticket. Thanks for clarifying.
  8. First, the tooltip: Harnessed Shadows- Project and Slow Time have a 50% chance to grant Harnessed Shadows, which makes the next Telekinetic Throw used uninterruptible and immune to pushback. In addition, each stack increases the damage dealt by your next Telekinetic Throw by 25%. Stacks up to 3 times. At 3 stacks, each tick of Telekinetic Throw heals you for 3% of your maximum health. I did several matches in PvP before I noticed something wrong but due to the rapid combat and high focus required I wanted to double-check in a PvE...umm...environment. It seems like the "uninterruptible" and "immune to pushback" portion of this spec aren't functioning properly. While I was questing I fought a gold star droid, capped my stack at three, and executed Telekinetic Throw. My suspicions were confirmed when just half a second before my ability finished the droid used a pushback ability. Not only was my ability interrupted but I was indeed pushed back. Sorry if this is a widely known issue. I did some searches but all of the lists of known bugs regarding abilities were incomplete and didn't include this particular talent. Before I start experimenting and submit a detailed bug report I wanted to see if there is anyone else who is experiencing this?
  9. Definately on-board with this! I somehow came across an electrostaff and was excited when I learned I have the proficiency for it...then I found out I'm missing out on using certain abilities that I'd prefer to not be missing out on.
  10. Good point. The only two games I enjoyed crafting were UO and SWG. Those are also the only two games that I know of that expect players to have a specific character for crafting.
  11. What if arena's had very little reward? I never did arenas in WoW but I would very much like to have battles on a smaller scale. With little reward you won't have to feel compelled to grind arenas for your gear. Maybe just give arena groups / players ranks. Maybe they could even give republic players their purple lightsabers this way....
  12. Sorry OP, I've read all the posts so far and don't think a single person on these first 4 pages agrees with you. I'm also with them. WoW and SWTOR have very similar crafting systems. Maybe a few differences but for the most part the same. At least in WoW they required you to trade / buy from other professions for crafting materials. I haven't gotten too far into crafting here in SWTOR but it looks to me like there is no trading between crafts.
  13. People would still need to know how much damage is acceptable. I'm having that issue right now. I don't know how much damage I can or should be doing. I'm still playing my first character and I also just switched from tank to DPS so my gear is suffering from that atm. Still - people that know their stuff will know they need good gear. True they probably shouldn't be sporting greens (or at least not too many) on Heroics. The people that do it intentionally will do it whether there is a damage meter in-game or not. That's the point I was trying to make because adding in damage meters won't make people use it. It might be simpler to tell the people to go to their character sheet and check their damage/healing and then compare that to the boss's total health. No that doesn't take into account the actual damage being dealt. For that people should be monitoring their damage flytexts in bursts. I do this from time to time. You should be looking at your screen anyway so that shouldn't be too hard. I also don't think that someone who is wearing green items doesn't know what they're doing. Gear is important but it doesn't determine who the good DPSers/tanks/healers are.
  14. So...a damage meter = everyone gets blue and purple gear? I get what you're trying to say but damage meters aren't going to 'fix' the issue you're having. Problem: people aren't wearing proper gear. Solution: people should wear proper gear. Just tell people purple > blue > green and that they need at least blue (or whatever your preference is) to do a Heroic. I've never used damage meters but I'm pretty sure those are used strategically in conjunction with your combat abilities and in which order you execute them. It's pretty straight forward that bad gear is bad gear... Not saying damage meters and combat logs are bad, just saying this is not the 'fix' you are looking for.
  15. I think individual mods should be secondary. If he wasn't the same class then he would have no use for the same base stat as you. If he wanted the item for the mod(s) it should be discussed before a decision is made. It sounds like he brought it up but if I was him, the second you were to tell me that you need the entire outfit (i.e. all the mods not just one or two) I would have rolled greed or passed. It would be easier for him to find his one or two mods than it is for you to find and fill an orange piece. That's just me...
  16. Dude, BioWare has already announced their plan and set a date for the 50 bracket. I know it's 2012 but the world is not going to end before the patch goes live. Cool your jets.
  17. They couldn't allow a whole lot of options due to complexity and the game being an MMO. Some things change depending on choice but there aren't near as many as there would be in a normal BioWare game. As far as implementing story in an MMO, I think BioWare did a great job. I think BioWare has set a standard for story-based MMOs if the idea catches. Some people don't care for the cut-scenes and dialogue, but people like myself find leveling a lot more fun. I know there are many bugs that people say shouldn't be in a game, but some aspects like class balance won't get the fine-tuning they need until the game is released.
  18. I think purple is a good color to have be rare. For those that care to do some reading: History, Shellfish, Royalty, and the Color Purple - Paper, Film & Foil Converter and Purple, the Fake Color The first article states - If I'm correct I believe purple has been a distinguished color throughout history as well. My dad refers to purple as "God's favorite color" because purple is most commonly associated with wealth and power as well as being a high-class, covetous color. It might not mean much to us Americans and say that it's just another color, but the second article I linked talks about the uniqueness of purple. Again, I think BioWare did a good job at making purple extremely rare and hard to retrieve because it gives the bizarre color a realistic manifestation in the Star Wars world. If you look at the spectrum of visible light in the second link it shows all the easy to find crafted colors (I don't know about cyan since I'm still a low level artifice/archealogist.) In case you didn't notice - there is no purple. For those that don't want to raid for the purple color crystal, I get it. Personally, it adds a whole new dimension to the game to make certain "luxury" items and appearances rarer than others which is why PvPers and Raiders have to work for their specialized equipment. That's also what purple represents in various cultures and history - a valuable and rare color exclusive to the prestigious and rich. Purple is an exceptionally unique color and BioWare has recognized this. Kudos to them!
  19. I would say 5. I've hardly ever done PvP in past MMOs so I'm having fun doing something new. I can imagine how PvP would be boring for PvP vets though. As of now I'm playing a Jedi Consular but I think I'll like Warzones a lot more when I play a class I like better. Sometimes I do really well and I'm really proud of my Shadow, though.
  20. Looking at the patch updates it should be evident this is what they're been doing. It's good they announced it, though, just to reassure players.
  21. I'm kind of wondering if this issue is more of an issue with the instancing BioWare is using. It makes sense. You load a specific instance of an area with so many people and then you open another and fill it up. At lower levels you'll easily have more than a couple dozen instances. Mix that with the fact that the game is still pretty new and you'll probably get very little world PvP. I think it was last week that one of the devs made a post saying that most players were in their 30's. A while ago there was a statement that BioWare might disable the instancing after the game's been release for a while. World PvP will probably suck until then.
  22. I'm all for more Huttball maps. In fact...It's a little surprising they didn't make a couple different maps for launch.

    No More Huttball

If anyone could predict that Empire would be populated much in the same way the Horde was in WoW, as long as that same person knew that Huttball was the ONLY WZ you could queue against your own faction, then yes, actually. That could have easily been predicted.

    No More Huttball

After thinking about it, I thought BioWare's random Warzonen queue was good idea. Maybe not right after release since there's only 3 Warzones. In WoW certain Warzones were more popular than others. Putting players in the first available Warzone without allowing preference enables player to PvP with minimum downtime and it keeps certain Warzones from being ghost towns. If they were to ever allow you to choose your Warzone it would probably happen if they decided to create cross-server Warzones. Keep in mind that Huttball is the ONLY WZ you can go toe to toe with the same faction and I wouldn't be surprised if BioWare anticipated one faction to be preferred over the other. Right Now it seems like everyone and their cousin plays empire. I switched to Republic because I wanted to try the other Warzones. Now I rarely get Huttball. I've played it once since I switched. If you hate Huttball and know that playing Republic is your best chance to do the other two Warzones and don't take that opportunity, it's not BioWare's fault. If you know how to solve a problem but choose not to solve it then blaming someone else for your unhappiness is just plain dumb. This coming from someone who knows how the Empire feels and took matters into his own hands instead of expecting BioWare will instantaneously cater to my desires. I played a Sith but I don't think like a Sith.
  25. Might want to fix your brackets because 1-9 can't do Warzones =) As for level 50's it's true for the most part. Ideally you don't want to be attacking or capping anything in Warzones alone. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the bolster system doesn't apply to stats so those with higher Expertise are no doubt more viable. I did Warzones most of last night and I'm not even 15 yet. I didn't expect to win as much as I was just trying to get a grasp of this PvP concept. Occasionally I felt very useful and productive but for the most part I was fodder for the other team. Doing Warzones at a low level isn't ideal but that's to be expected when higher level characters have more abilities, stats, and skill points. If you expect to be in the top 5 of your faction 90% of the time then you should level before you do Warzones. I also read on another forum that the classes are balanced at 50. BioWare had their hearts in the right place when they designed the bolster system. Is it perfect? No, but a system like bolster can't be perfected in beta. It takes real application on a much larger scale to be able to perfect mechanics like this.
