  1. Yeah, I'm not getting the rage either. After being able to log in and play around with the system last night, I found almost no difference in my end result except that it's easier to switch specs. With the old skill system and a pure spec (one where you have the top skill in the tree) you have maybe two significant choices in picking skills in the main tree, and you end up with 10 points left over, equating to 4 skill choices. The net result is about half a dozen "customizations" for a pure build. With the new system you have a pure spec and you end up with a half dozen customizations in the form of utilities. Once I was specced and playing, I found play to be pretty much unchanged. Granted some skills were different, missing or new, but that happens with every expansion anyway, so I expected to have to play with my rotation. However, once I understood the changed skills and procs, gameplay was almost identical to before the patch. Hardly worth the rage.
  2. I work in a small office, and I'm not the only one playing the game, so not only would my absence be noticed, but the reason would be pretty obvious... On the plus side, I kicked off the patch on both of my computers before leaving for work this morning so it should, in theory, be patched when I get home.
  3. Your response has caused a rip in the fabric of space time due to a recursive slapping error. That rip has caused lag and client crashes in the launch of 3.0, making the game less enjoyable for those who can access it. I also personally believe it's the root cause of global warming. I hope your happy with yourself.
  4. Since when do people on this forum wait until they actually try something before they complain? But yes, I understand I am not alone in my misery, and I shouldn't be blaming the players for my plight. The real culprit is "Real Life". Between work, my son's birthday party and the giant pile of wood that just got dumped in my driveway, it's going to be a looong time before I get to hit the Login button. Damn you Real Life and your incessant demands upon my time. Damn you all to hell.
  5. Well, sorry isn't good enough. I insist you speak to my boss and tell him I need to go home early today!
  6. ... that I am stuck at work while others are able to play the expansion. Damn you. Damn you all to hell.
  7. Please see my post on the previous page where I outline this. It's pretty simple.
  8. Rare? Really? You craft 5 greens to RE a blue, then craft 5 blues to RE a purple, then craft one purple and never touch the skill again. It's about as rare as Legacy Main Hand Construction Kits. Biochem is a crafting dead end. This is a good change. If you are looking for the new lazy crafter route, it is Slicing, Scavenging and Archeology. Sell everything and use the money to buy your consumables off the GTN.
  9. Doesn't it just? The sky is falling, and their world is ending. Let them kvetch about their slaps in the face while they can, since once people can actually play the expansion they'll realize these complaints are pointless. By then they will have real bugs to complain about.
  10. It's all speculation at this point, but to be honest, it can hardly make Biochem less profitable as it is currently a money making dead end. No one buys consumables on the GTN, better implants fall during dailies than you can craft at the base level, and end game implants are so expensive to craft that almost no one is willing to buy them. At best it's reduced to a "trade for mats and hope for a crit" skill. Money wise, it's a dead end. So if tomorrow no one can make money on Biochem we are essentially at the same point. That said, I expect stack of end game adrenals and stims to sell the same way stacks of WZ stims and adrenals sell, which is a lot better than what we have now.
  11. Actually, as things stand today, most people who don't care, and don't want, to craft Biochem. They level it up, craft the reusables once each, and never touch crafting again. Since they have the reusables, they don't ever buy or craft the rest. The reality tomorrow is these people will still not care about crafting. They won't want to level up all of their alts to 500 Biochem. At most, they will level one up and attempt to craft all of their own consumables, but some won't even bother with that. They'll switch to slicing and a couple gathering skills and sell mats, and use the money to buy their consumables on the fleet or through the GTN. In addition, as it stands today, many new level 55's switch to Biochem (or they chose it early on) just for the consumables. These people will no longer have the motivation to select Biochem, and new toons will be more evenly split between the crafting professions. Both groups become customers for those dedicated Biochem crafters who will make the time to craft and sell consumables, which is a market that until now, has been completely dead. So yeah, I'm expecting that starting this week my own Biochem crafter is going to go from "the toon I dust off every few weeks to craft a bunch of consumables for my toons" to a regular part of my crafting, gathering and GTN routine. I expect to actually be profitable from here out. And to those complaining about money they invested leveling up X Biochems... I'm sorry, but as anyone who's ever lost money speculating on the GTN will tell you, when you speculate you win some and you lose some. It happens.
  12. Ah, but not everyone will once there's no point in having it on every raiding toon you own. Thus, the market for stims and adrenals will actually exist, instead of everyone just making their own reusable once and never buying more.
  13. I'm confused. Are you expecting them to add consumables to collections? That would seem an odd thing to request, and an even odder one to expect. Consumables are, well, consumable. They need to be rebought/crafted everytime. That's why they are consumable. Asking them to put dyes into collections is akin to asking them to put experience boosters or med packs into collections, and I just don't see that happening.
  14. Yeah, in that case, I guess you are stuck waiting on the rewards to see if the quest is reset. My guess is the outage time for the update will replace the usual weekly reset, so there will be no chance for you to turn them in. I would expect to lose them, but you never know. Pending rewards may be allowed given the limitations they recently put on them.
  15. I actually think this is a good move. Up until now, Biochem has been the crafting class of choice for the reusables. Since you can't sell them, and need Biochem 450 to even use them, it's the only profession people want. Removing reusables makes Biochem more profitable for moneymaking, and more balanced with the other class skills. It's the right move imo.
  16. Although Bioware has not specifically said which quests will be reset, they have said that some will be when the update occurs. It has been presumed that anything where the quest reward is changing (meaning anything that grants planetary, classic, elite or ultimate commendations) is a good candidate for this. Since they have to adjust the rewards anyway to make sure they are granting the correct commendations, it's a good bet you'll see a progress reset. But you are correct that they have not specifically addressed any particular quests or rewards yet. At this point, it's also unlikely they will, so at the moment we are standing at the "you were warned, so don't complain if you lose them" point. Personally, I just decided to accept all rewards and take the converted commendations instead of risking losing the rewards completely, but everyone will have to make that call for themselves.
  17. I can respect that, and I even understand your opinion. I myself have never been flagged against my will, at least not in this game. So from a personal standpoint, a change won't affect me either way. However, in general I want this game to attract and keep players, and I think this sort of predatory griefing drives more people away than it attracts. It takes away from the game, and brings nothing in return. So any chance I see to reduce or remove the behavior, I have a tenancy to agree with it. Also, I'm basically of the opinion that the flagging system has been poorly implemented since day 1, and it's well past time for it to be fixed. But again, that's an opinion. Others may differ.
  18. Personally, I don't really care if they change this particular device in any way. What I would like to see is a change to the PvP flagging system in general that would fix not only this, but several other ploys people use to force flag. It's a long standing issue, and this is just the most recent iteration. Bioware has attempted on several occasions to fix this issue, and it keeps cropping back up. Honestly, I just think it's time they fix the flagging system in general. A pair of checkboxes in the options menu is all this needs to solve it once and for all. One would allow you to be warned every time you were about to be flagged (which you can disable if you don't want the warning), and the other would prevent you from ever being auto-flagged outside a PvP area. Then, if someone still gets auto-flagged, it means they not only were careless in their actions, they also specifically asked for it to be possible. No one would be able to whine about it anymore, and wouldn't that be better for all of us?
  19. No one is asking for clunky or invasive changes to the game. (Well, maybe some are, but most are not.) They are asking for simple UI changes that not only would limit this sort of negative behavior, but also have several other secondary benefits. Similarly, no one is suggesting you can fix stupid. You can, however, put in simple safeguards that make it more difficult to mislead players. By the "you can't fix stupid so there's no point in trying" logic, they might as well also put back in auto-flagging on AoE and all of the other changes they've put in over time. You can't fix stupid, and you can't prevent all griefing. However that does not mean you shouldn't try to limit both.
  20. It's not glib at all. It's an absolutely well thought out and considered opinion. You may disagree, but my opinion is my own. Anyone who does either of the aforementioned behaviors is gaining joy at the expense of others. As I said, neither activity is technically illegal or against the rules, and I have not been affected by either personally. However, by intentionally trying to ruin the fun of one or more other players, they are negatively affecting the game. We would be better off without them.
  21. That must be some pretty strong brew. Count me in.
  22. You have many options for spending or holding your commendations. If you choose not to exercise them, that is really your prerogative. Just don't expect a lot of sympathy. I mean, I still want a pony, and I still can't get one. The world is still an unfair place.
  23. Good post. No one who purposely does either of these is contributing to the game, and we'd be better off without them. Given that removing them is difficult and time consuming, there's no reason Bioware can't or shouldn't implement simple and easy changes to the UI to at least reduce the amount of trolling a d-baggery in the game. Just because you can't eliminate it completely doesn't mean you shouldn't take reasonable measures to reduce the behavior.
  24. Just ship the commendations to an alt after 3.0 goes live (assuming the process outlined in this thread isn't removed in 3.0) and then ship them back when you hit level 60. Given the fact that the process hasn't been blocked, and that the thread has not been deleted or refuted by Bioware, this seems to be an acceptable practice, at least at the moment.
