  1. Interesting news its positive to hear we are going to receive new content quickly and often. I'd like to see more world pvp. So far I am level 25 and I have yet to come across any jedi scum to kill. One thing we dont need are flying mounts the equivalent of wow. Lets keep people IN the world rather than having them zipping around without being able to interact (read kill) with them.
  2. I LOVE this game. Having so much fun and questing is enjoyable with others as it is when I play alone. I just wish I had more RL friends to play the game with. There are a number of bugs with the game but thats hardly surprising really. I have confidence in Bioware to fix them and continue to evolve the game. Who gives a crap if idiots are bemoaning the game. I long held the belief that Blizzard had a team of their own who worked on their own forums negatively responding to well through out criticisms of their game just to marginalise clear areas that were problematic to many of the players. Dont forget the USA is the world leader in pshyc warfare on its own. Learn to read between the lines and the force will be with you.
  3. Well.. I'd like to say thanks to the creators of this game.. I am having an awesome mindnumbling experience par excellence. There are clearly a few bugs which I am sure you are aware of. Whilst the list might grow, one issue that is highly annoying is during flashpoints when someone (i.e. ME) dies. Rather than be ported back to the start of the flashpoint we are moved back out of the entire venture. THe game loads and puts me outside the flashpoint. This involves a wait screen, loading the old area and then reloading the flashpoint again as I re-enter. If thats not annoying enough.. having just been knocked off a platform in hammer station at the end boss when I re-enter just as the team has killed the boss I am then excluded from the loot. And shortly afterwards the game crashed. Not a happy situ. Hope you are working towards resolving this because I think it will become a huge area of complaint in futurte.
  4. I agree with the OP in principle and the only situation where the argument falls down is having a spec for PvP. If I am tank specced for PvE then I really shouldn't endure a penalty every time I want to PvP. PvE wise I can see the argument for not having dual spec but as a matter on convenience and adaptability why not? However, I do agree that we should never be able to change our advanced class because otherwise it would trivialize our decision. Indeed, I leveled three characters to level 10 whilst I was deciding upon my mains advanced class. I really hope we dont see flying mounts and that Bioware thinks very carefully about implementing group finding tools. From my WoW experience whilst it made doing stuff convenient it removed so many players from the world environments and turned an mmo into a single player game where you played with strangers whom often acted in an obnoxious manner. I'd like a game environment where there are people IN it rather than spending there time sitting in a queue.
  5. At this stage anyone who is pooh poohing SWTOR is in need of help. This is by far the best mmo I have yet to play.. I used to enjoy playing WoW but stopped because (a) I got bored to death of it (b) They continued taking the game in a direction where profit started to come before my enjoyment of the game. and © the community wasn't very pleasant. That said, there is room for improvement in SWTOR and I look forward to see those coming. Right now I am having an awesome MMO gaming experience and it has exceeded my high expectations.
  6. I'm running the game on max settings with an 8800GT on a 19inch monitor at 1440x900. It was stuttering in places but when i put an extra gig of ram on the computer taking it up to 3 gigs that prob went away. The output varies.. in Tython for example it averages about 30fps but it does dip down a bit to low 20 fps on detailed areas. But its very playable and often the fps is 40-50 and 70+ in caved areas.. And this is with a quad core Q6600 CPU. I know its old but the 8800GT punched above its weight for quite a while. Having said that I think I will be upgrading because I want to enjoy this game on a larger monitor and unflinching speed. But I am a cheap charlie and dont want to spend more than I have to. What about Nvidia GTS 450? How does it handle a res of 24inch monitor at 1920x1080?
  7. I absolutely love this game so far and it has surpassed all of my expectations. The plot and character development are utterly absorbing and having leveled 3 classes to level ten i am really torn as to which to make my main. I find myself attached to certain characters and companions. It has definitely added something new to the mmo genre. Sure there is room for improvement: UI customization, more graphics options but considering its this good on release the future possibilities are exciting.
  8. Having just waited 4 days, from the start of early access, to start playing the game, I wasn't too disgruntled when I hit the occasional server queue. Yeah it is kinda annoying but I suspect in three or four weeks things will settle down a little. Rather than getting upset the best way to deal with the queue is to expect one and plan for it. On the server I am playing on the queues at busy times are about 40 minutes. I try to log on, if there is a queue I walk away.. put the TV on, make a drink, chill out and come back 20 minutes later and check.. What we don't want to happen is for Bioware to open up a shed load of servers only for them to have crappy populations after the initial hype dies down. Having said that from my own play experience I think this game is really going somewhere - I am having such a blast and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend the game to someone. gg
  9. I am really enjoying the game so far. It is absolutely amazing and I find I have developed a fondness for the characters in game. Its nothing short of amazing. Having said that. I would like to make decisions in game that are from my own character but at present, as I understand it, we are required to choose the full light or dark path if we wish to get in game rewards. Minor niggle I suppose. This game is so special.. pinch me, I must be dreaming.
  10. Yawn.. this is all highly tedious. There are people who have been playing for the last 4 days.. and we are carelessly neglected with continual vagueness. This is definitely an experience I wont be repeating in the future.
  11. EA tried to create a steam clone but it flopped. Maybe why they have stopped it working with steam. You could try another overlay program such as Overwolf.. it can access and overlay steam chat and loads of other programs such as Skype too. I havent had chance to see if it works because Bioware have kept me out of the game for the last 4 days. Let me know if it works with the game.
  12. Well the only reason you would want to do it at this stage is to make sure you can play on the 20th. Its possible places could run out of physical copies or it could take too long to get to you in the post. Besides.. I bought mine from Amazon and there was no pre-order fee, just the cost of the game.
  13. Ugh.. more of this crap.. Very unimpressed.
  14. I am pretty sure I am going to adore the game as soon as the people at HQ bequeath me access.
  15. Didn't EA try to create a competitor to Steam which flopped big time? So yeah, not surprising really given how lame EA has been in the past.
  16. I tried using it with steam as well. A while later I was downloading teamspeak and noticed a piece of software called overwolf which overlays **** such as skype, and steam friends lists over games. Its free too.. I haven't been able to verify it works with the game since some bastard at Bioware has yet to include me in early access but I assume it will work. If anyone notices it working let me know
  17. Yes there are people still not in and it isn't funny anymore. I'm role-playing a scenario whereby Yoda's wrathly underworld presence has returned from the future (ATC) suggesting that this is part of a true Jedi's training. 'Patience, you must learn', I hear ringing in my ears. 'Path to the dark side, impatience is'. I ponder this as I imagine lighting up the old light sabre and demonstrating its use in castrating those responsible for my delayed entry to the game. Careless neglect has turned me to the dark side.
  18. Sad day If you don't know who this guy was your understanding of the world isn't complete. http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2011/12/In-Memoriam-Christopher-Hitchens-19492011 RIP dude.
  19. Queuing aint fun thats for sure. Look on the bright side, I am still in the preorder queue to join the server queue. Try 4 days waiting.
  20. Yeah. 3 days of this debacle. I dont feel like a valued customer and at this point in time I think I have had enough of this game.
  21. Amazon UK have dispatched my copy today so should have it in time for the 20th
  22. It would actually make sense to have all the pre orders free to access the game today. If you consider that with the weekend coming the servers are going to get hammered from Friday onwards.
  23. The largest issue with this staggered access is that until yesterday I didn't have a clue when or if, having pre ordered in december, i would get access. So they could have provided that information a bit sooner. It might have been smooth for you but the problem they have created through all of this is that friends haven't been able to start playing together and given its an mmo that is a major failing. Additionally, I hear that there are people who are closing in on reaching max level and that means we are not starting on an equal footing. So while Biowares decisions are pragmatic from their own point of view it has been rather detrimental to my own.
  24. Pretty polly please with sugar on top.. Invite December people too
