To this day I will never forgive them for removing channeled Flamethrower. Legit the biggest part of Powertech class fantasy and it's just goooone.

Making their gap closer optional? Just another drop in the bucket proving that the devs don't have a damn clue what each class actually needs, huh. This guy is also exactly correct. This push to simplify things to bring in new players is ridiculous at best. It'll lose you as many players as it gains you, if not more. Bad, bad, bad.

The problem with your math is that there won't be that many new players coming to the game, I assure you. -
It's really hard to say. The only reason Trooper and Agent use a generic pistol in their cutscenes is that they don't actually equip a pistol, whereas Smuggler and Bounty Hunter do. We'd need a closer look at how EXACTLY it's coded, but it is not out of the realm of possibility at all that if you're using a Pistol Combat Style, then the cutscene pistol will actually be a pistol you're using. I'll also note that Trooper and Agent have DIFFERENT generic pistol designs, so your post does make me super curious what Smuggler and Bounty Hunter's will be chosen to look like, as you say. Hmm!

I'm extremely excited for it. The options it gives are really interesting. Someone else already mentioned being able to stealth through any class story if you pick the right style--but I'm also looking rather forward to Trooper and Agent presumably getting to use whatever pistol they have equipped, if using a Smuggle/BH style, instead of their generic cutscene pistol. Quite a few classes have way better animations on one mirror or another, as well.

Yeah, and if you can find the time, money and manpower to figure out how to make the animations work for what the OP suggests, I'm sure Bioware'd love to get their hands on it, lol.

And MOST of the veterans who are giving feedback over it, here in this forum, are saying it is a bad idea, for numerous reasons. Mine being that there's no way in actual hell they're going to rebalance the game to compensate for the changes in anything resembling a timely manner. Not that they're going to renege on this--that's also never going to happen--but I think all of the people telling them this idea was bad have an absolute right to go on doing that, and when it inevitably is bad (and I do mean inevitably, based on 10 years of experience with this game), they will get to go 'ah, see, I knew it' and be correct in that, as it will be the only solace they have from Bioware doing their damnedest to make the game for babies.

Conveniently ignoring that nothing he said actually had anything to do with any of the points I made, I see! -

As a fervent FFXIV player myself, I will say one of the best things about it is that there is a class for just about every level of complexity. People who want to take a nap while they play can play Red Mage, Dancer, maybe Bard. People who are enjoy playing the piano can play Monk. People who are really good at recognizing patterns play Black Mage well. Etc. -
Four more months of expansion development, and then two more years of them scrambling to rebalance all the content they'll unbalance with these changes, lel

It really depends on severity. There have been periods of the game being wildly unbalanced I've been able to persevere through. Keep strawmanning me as a tool if it helps you, though.
