  1. The entire point of rock, paper, scissors paradigms in MMO's is that paper is not supposed to beat scissors due to gear. Paper beats scissors due to skill, or not at all. Maximize on your opponents mistakes, or you don't beat them. That said, a discussion on the legitimacy of RPS in a competitive PvP environment is for another thread.
  2. Gear isn't being handed out for free. You do realize this right? You still have to run a lot of warzones, normal or ranked, to be able to buy the gear in the first place. And again, the whole point is competition.
  3. You must be one of those players that never played on the Tournament realm, which actually makes you semi-hardcore.
  4. Skill progression. Rank/Ladder progression. Tournament progression. Competitive PvP.
  5. http://ideas.time.com/2012/01/25/the-myth-of-practice-makes-perfect/ It's not how much you practice, but how you practice.
  6. Valor is exactly the same as a Call of Duty rank lmao. They are both time invested achievements, each unlocking new gear/items as you reach higher rank. But they are independent of skill because they require none to advance. Who cares that you took the time to grind out warzones so you could hit BM faster?
  7. Normal PvP has the gear progression you are looking for. Sorry that Bioware wants competitive PvP, and as such is willing to actually make it competitive. Ever notice how in money tournaments for WoW, every player has the exact same gear? Isn't that weird?
  8. Rated is competitive PvP. That's why the carrot is in normal.
  9. In Void Star and Civil War, it is literally impossible to plant/cap without killing someone. I assume were talking about Rated premades, and not random server pugs btw. Because in Rateds, you bet your *** people will be specifically waiting for people to try to ninja during engagements. And you bet your *** people will stop you from capping/planting if you don't kill them.
  10. The point of rateds is for a competitive style PvP. That means normalization of gear, and advantages of skill. The people that want the carrot, don't have the carrot anywhere else, and they don't get enough self gratification from a rating. So these players want tangible rewards to show how "good" they are. The problem is some of those people want gear to separate themselves from others so they don't always have to be on top of their game to beat people because of gear disparity. I don't care either way, because at the end of the day, everyone that matters will have the same exact gear anyways, and skill will always come out on top.
  11. Gotta have Marauders/Sentinels though. I'd also like to see you cap a point/door against a full premade in Rateds without killing anyone.
  12. Multi quote action commense: Sure. I have full BM, I'm a War Hero, and all my companions have full champ, but yes I complain about how hard is to get champ gear. The real question is why do you need progression to prove your skill? Woopty freakin doo big guy. Who cares what 30-40 people think? I can get my guild to say the same thing about me, but I won't because my e-peen is already big enough.
  13. Why? Eventually everyone will be Valor 100.
  14. You are one of those players that prides himself on his gear, rather than his skill.
  15. It's you because 1.1.5 isn't out yet.
  16. You can't win an 8v3 engagement but we are bad?
  17. I think brass players could use a buff honestly. 3 buttons that rely on an evolving embouchure? *** bioware?
  18. It's 65 Force, but that's irrelevant. And really, most engagements last 20-30 seconds at most for me. 30 seconds is if they are a heavy armor class and my FL is only critting for 700ish. Against less geared people, when my FL crits for 1300, engagements are even quicker.
  19. I was speaking from a DPS perspective, not a healers.
  20. It's pretty inefficient to bubble everyone off CD in a warzone, particularly during an engagement. I do however throw bubbles when I am not directly involved in an engagement. As a DPS sorc, the bubble has the most force per use out of every ability we have, other than Force Storm.
  21. It's not "free" though, and the way you originally worded it, I thought you mean starting a fight with a 6k absorb, as in the bubble absorbed 6k. If you meant using a double bubble, then yea I suppose it is 6k absorbed over the whole battle.
