  1. I don't think there is any way a game could do -lightsabers like in the movies because in the movies they *are* god-mode weapons. The whole reason only Jedi have them is that only Jedi reflexes and precog stop you cutting your own limbs off with this massless energy blade. My understanding is that cortosis was invented for the books and comics to tone down the god-mode. Based on what we see in the movies, a wild animal should have zero chance against a Jedi. Normal soldiers and bounty hunters, zero chance. Exceptional soldiers have some chance due to advanced tactics and gear (like grappling guns to take a lightsaber away from a Jedi). This makes for an extremely unbalanced game, especially with PVP. So, in the game we get glowbats. I don't see any other way of doing it.
  2. Are you sure he (it?) even has a gender?
  3. I choe the good options. You know, support the Sith Empire, expect the appropriate respect for the Emperor and The Force, respect the legal government of the galaxy, that sort of thing. Not like those evil Jedi and their seditious democratic ideas and disruptive personal freedoms.
  4. Because in the movies it is a signature move of Darth Vader and he is the inspiration for the Sith Warrior class. The inspiration for the Sith Inquisitor is Palpatine. Did he ever choke someone? No, he shocked the living daylights out of them with Force Lightning. :-)
  5. I really like his attitude and comments but the hit box things bugs me a lot. I try to click on elevators, mission objects, other people and the big monster is always in the dam way! Arrgghh! Companions should not have a click box at all. The companion portrait should suffice.
  6. I love the idea of this scrappy, violent little droid jumping into the faces of my foes and setting them on fire. Is that cool or what? I also love the idea of this scrappy ex-street-kid Jedi with a shady past forceleaping into the faces of my foes and smacking them with a douple-bladed lightsaber. Also cool. Unfortunately, I also love the speed of questing with a healer. This means I have to put up with a sleazy womanizer. I put him in Republic Containment armour but it still didn't contain the lecherousness. Full marks to the writers for interesting companions. I don't like Doc but I do think he is interesting and not as two-dimensional as he seemed at first. I can't comment about the other two cpompanions as I haven't taken them out at all.
  7. A lot of the planets' surface is for quests for the other faction. In the south of Tat there are a lot of areas filled with fieldlies (if you are a Pub) thta are quest locations for Imp characters. I think Tatooine is the first planet where Pubs and Imps share the planet (except for the spaceport towns).
  8. I'd like a trophy area. Each significant boss killed adds some trophy to the wall. Kill the big droid on Alderaan and maybe a droid part appears on the wall. Like the ship models in ME2.
  9. Mate! Well done! Thanks for sharing with us.
  10. No you weren't. If it said "Requires: Trooper, Jedi Knight" then your Knight can wear it. It it only says "Requires: Tooper" then your Knight cannot wear it.
  11. That seems a bit unfair. A Jedi Knight could roll need on STR items (themself and Scource) and CUN items (Doc) and WIL items (Kira) and AIM items (Rusk and T7) but a Trooper could only roll need on AIM items (all Trooper companions are AIM). The "does 'need' apply to companions?" argument has had a *lot* of discussion on these forums, with strong opinions on both sides. It is complicated by the fact that there really aren't any other MMOGs with the same concept of "equippable companion". Personally, I think the system should be simpler: "Need" and "Pass". Every player in the group should have equal probability to get every piece of loot. If a group wants to have more control then they can use Master Looter. Having more options (need, companion, greed, disasseble, whatever) leads to more abuse, not less.
  12. I look at the GTN and see fifty 'Finely Crafted Lightsabers" (or whatever). Somewhat underwhelming. Crafters should be able to name items (even if only the critted ones). Sure, there will be the immature players who give the items silly names. Let the market weed them out.
  13. If you have changed class then it is not your favourite character any more - it is a different character. I disagree. It won't be optional for me because I won't have any information about whether the Guardian I am PUGged with has been a guardian for a month or for 5 minutes. This is a class-based roleplaying game and in class-based games you can't change your class. Thirty years ago I couldn't change my D&D Thief to a Fighter. Today I can't change my Sentinel to a Guardian.
  14. Oh you would not believe how many of us have merrily gone our way and not opened that little bag! You are not alone.
  15. They seem to be really, really rare for me. After one failrly lengthy session I have over 230 of the level 1 crystal (Fire Node?) and not a single Wind Crystal. None for sale at the RGTN every time I looked. I dread to think what they will sell for when they do appear.
  16. Another game I played, to delete a character you had to type that character's name. That way if you accidentlaly click the wrong portrait (or the game chooses another portrait for you despite what you clicked - like the renaming after transferring) then you get an extra layer of safety. Same could be done for deleting crewskills. To delete Artifice you have to type "ARTIFICE" in a text box.
  17. Why would you ever need to wield a lightsaber two-handed? They are massless. A longer blade doesn't make it harder to hold. That said, I'd like to see is a difference in blade length between guardians and sentinels. I would think two shorter weapons would be more manageable that two full-size weapons, even if the blades are massless.
  18. Agreed. I look at commendation mod vendors and see things like: Commando Mod 18 Commando Mod 19 Might Mod 17 Huh? Where are the rest of the might mods? Some of the blue-quality might mods (the even numbers?) don't seem to be available from any vendor.
  19. I guess it is because there are only two types of damage in the game: bypasses-armour and doesn't-bypass-armour. Each has two descriptive texts. Energy and kinetic don't bypass armour; elemental and internal bypass armour. Force Lightning doesn't bypass armour so it is "energy" damage. If it was "elemental" then Sorcerors would definately need nerfing.
  20. That is a good quote. It is what I often feel. I am having a great time playing this game! It is fun, frustrating enough to be challenging but not infuriating. The lighsaber WOOM-WOOM sound never gets old.
  21. It doens't matter. In this case gameplay trumps reality. The game has two factions, competing against one another. Limiting the communication increases the seperation, 'them or us" feeling. Note that in TOR you can use /say to communicate between factions. You can't do that in WOW (at least not when I last played it a few years ago). KEK KEK
  22. Short answer: Yes but not majorly. Long answer: You have a keyboard in front of you. if you are not willing to take the time to use the Shift keys and the punctuation keys then yes, I am going to look down on you. I'm taking the time to type punctuation and capitals and use full words rather that TXT-speak because I am considerate of my audience. You should do the same. I judge you by your typing. This is not a cellphone with only number keys. This is a not a 300 baud chat session where every keystroke is adding to your parents' phone bill. There are exceptions, of course. Mid combat, a facerolling "adds" or "tnk teh boss" in chat is OK. Informal language is OK between friends and guildies. Bad spelling doesn't worry me much, however. Just punctuation and TXT-speak. And "rediculous". And "rouge". This seems like a good place to mention Lizard's Gaming and Geekery Site.
  23. Am I gimping Doc too much by putting him in light armour? I want to put him in the Republic Containment Suit. I'm hoping it will contain his lecherous comments…
  24. It is a consequence of class-based game systems, going all the way back to Chainmail and D&D. I think that needs clarification. Sages choose between good healing and OK DPS. Guardiand choose between good tanking and OK DPS. Sentinels choose betweeh WTFPWN DPS and MOARWTFPWN DPS. We are the hands-down best at in-your-face-smacking-down-the-enemy-fast. DPS is all we do so we do it better than anyone.
  25. Twi'lek, unfortinately. I made a character with a headpiece so now when I wear a piece of gear that is a headpiece then I see both items, horribly clipped with one another. If I wear a helmet it either doesn't appear at all or looks really weird with lekku coming straight out the back of it. Oh, and as mentioned above, no hoods. Combine that with a crappy dance move and I really, really wish I'd picked another species. In 2 levels i'm going to unlock a Legacy option which I will never ever use. :-(
