  1. In a well designed dungeon, IMO, trash skipping should be an option, but a potentially dangerous option. Mobs left standing should be a threat to you. But considering that the dungeons are already designed, Bioware has a perfectly good Bonus Mission system in place for this purpose. Where's the story reason that loot magically appears in that dead bosses pockets after I kill generic lackey #62 who we missed earlier....
  2. EDIT2:I have been corrected. Misunderstood the meaning of the word 'encounter.' "Boss encounters no longer drop rewards until the entire encounter has been cleared of enemies." Am I reading this right? Instead of designing a well laid out dungeon or making bonus missions worth something, they're going to put in a nonsensical and potentially frustrating limit? EDIT: I suppose this would matter more if there were people to run flashpoints with though.
  3. Speeders, pets, stat-less orange gear. Legacy Unlocks for the most part, though I'd prefer they didn't on the Ship upgrades.
  4. Eh. On one hand, I wish all characters could choose all weapon types. On the other, I've gotten good at recognizing player classes based on weapons and stances and really haven't used class icons at all since they launched. So I'm a little undecided on the issue.
  5. Sub-250k. I spend my money pretty quickly when I get it.
  6. You don't understand the ability properly. Heroic Moment is usable any time you have an active companion. While the Heroic Moment buff is active, you can use your Heroic Moment enabled abilities (like your Force Choke). Heroic Moment on its own is essentially a survivability CD with a refresh of the CD of one of your abilities (I believe it's the 4 second stun as an Inq). Heroic Moment does not enable itself. You have to click it.
  7. 2 attempts. Didn't survive the damage the first time despite interrupting Thunderous Blast. So I heroic moment the second attempt. Easy. I was a little worried about there being no break before the next fight. Fortunately that was easy. No death there.
  8. I noticed quite a few were not in the right places. But that only makes sense when you think of the way the videos are laid out (1/3 of each video is devoted to the base class, but the base class is only on 1 planet of the game and really only 2 boring gear sets each). Most of it is in the game somewhere though. If you're specific though, I'm sure people can help you out in finding them. Especially on the Trooper forum.
  9. Flashpoint Finder will be great, and is sorely needed ASAP. That doesn't mean the game isn't worth my $15 until then. So obviously, I'll be sticking around, and I don't expect a significant number is disappointed enough with 1.2 to drop before 1.3.
  10. Chapter 1 sucks. Most Chapter 1s aren't all that, since they're just meant to establish your character as important before the real fun begins. That said, Chapter 2 and 3 aren't brilliant. Mildly satisfying with some moments of note. It's pretty understated until you hit Corellia with a very Day in the Life feel. It has terrible moments, and it has good ones, but all in all it's never great. A lot of missed potential for the JC in my opinion.
  11. That's from the JK story, yes? Cause I'd barely qualify him as a Sith, since he can be quite easily redeemed.
  12. I'd rank it a 6. The following dodges major spoilers, but doesn't shy away from the more minor. Chapter 1 is subpar. Sort of a straightforward, cheesy, find this, solve the problem, look at our special little chosen one, story. Chapter 1 gets a 4. Chapter 2 is my favorite of the 3. Very day in the life of a Jedi feeling. Meshes well with the planet stories. You're going places and helping people. A little aimless, I guess you could say, but it makes you feel important, and has decent interactions with the Rift Alliance and those on the planets. Chapter 2 gets an 8. Chapter 3 is the middle chapter in quality. Corellia is great. The final boss is a little underwhelming, IMO, but everything comes together with the work you've done for the Rift Alliance beautifully. However the other planets are much worse in quality. A few Children are interesting (like the Belsavis one) the rest suck. The idea of an Army of the Esh-ka was a little underdeveloped. Could have been much better done to make it more interesting and less cheesy. "Hmm, I wonder where I could find a big *** army...?" "Oh, I know one!" was a tad ridiculous. Corellia is a 9 and the other planets are a 6. 7 Overall.
  13. I second that it was always like this. Maybe not in Beta or early Live, but if it changed, it wasn't in 1.2.
  14. Also check your UI setup. It can be toggled off from there, or moved around.
  15. I'm missing something here.... what's going on?
  16. Incoming Nerd post: This is called Potentium. It has been outright stated as being wrong and a surefire way to fall to the darkside in canon. In my opinion, the idea of Potentium proves a degree of arrogance. It says you believe you have more control than the countless fallen Jedi before you and that you have complete control over the Force and that it has no control over you. It's a fun concept to think about, but is not true in canon. On Topic: I strongly lean Republic. I don't feel Sith side captures the Star Wars feel anywhere near as much as Republic does. At the same time, I enjoy seeing a Jedi as the big bad at the end of a mission a lot more than seeing a Sith. Esseles vs. Black Talon for instance. Both had very solid final battles, but Black Talon was better.
  17. That's because Mass Effect 3 is not an MMO firstly. MMO communities are passionate (the most positive word I could think of) and unforgiving. MMOs demand more time, and are thus forgiven for fewer faults, as they become more and more apparent. Secondly because Mass Effect is their current primary title. The one that the company is built around. I really think Mass Effect 3 had as much or more hype surrounding it as SW:TOR without a 30+ year old franchise to hold it up. And thirdly because release on a single player game is more or less final. You can patch, and you can make DLC, but it becomes much harder to adjust what's already been done from a content and gameplay standpoint. MMO developer dialogues have to be more forward facing and hopeful than that of the single player game dev, as when an MMO developer talks of faults of the past, they have to talk of how those faults will be fixed or bettered in the current product. Single player developers have to talk of what they learned from their past faults, as the studios reputation and future game sales, and not ongoing subscription numbers on already released products, is what's at stake in the dialogue. It's really not a comparable situation.
  18. I recently rerolled off of Darth Sion Republic. Sith side is pretty active on that server, but Republic is a ghost town. I left my 50 Shadow behind and made a baby Vanguard on The Harbinger. It sucks. Not just because I couldn't bring my Shadow or my Legacy with me, but because I had to leave a really awesome guild. I love those guys, but having more people online in a guild of 35 people total than Republic on Ilum and Belsavis together (4 and 9 for most of the day a few ago) just doesn't work for me.
  19. Presence is a non-endgame stat. It's really only good for leveling/soloing, and even then I doubt the buff will be significantly noticable. So yes, I think that's just fine giving a stat buff for the most played race in the game and giving cosmetics to everyone else.
  20. Thus increasing the likelihood they'll cave and make alts. Equally, a player with a garden of alts but no main (me) will feel the pressure to focus on a character and shelf their alts so as to be ready for the Legacy drop and have the bonuses for later. And lastly, not all of the Legacy bonuses are alt related. Sure they unlock for your alts, but do you think a Main character only player would say no to a ship mailbox and GTN Terminal? Nope.
  21. Lame.... my Republic server (Darth Sion) has a 1.9 Imperial to Rep ratio according to this. Not surprising though that the most Sith heavy servers all have a Darth in the name or are otherwise Sith related. Mask of Nihilus, Sith Meditation Sphere, Darth Bandon, Kaas City. And then servers like Wall of Light, Vrook Lamar, The Ebon Hawk, and Jedi Covenant all have more Rep than Sith. Interesting stuff, at any rate.
  22. Yeah it does. Never great, but good. Act 3 has some silly in it, act 2 being my favorite. Understated and sort of "day in the life" more than "OMG crisis save us". I also feel that the consular consistently lines up well with the planetary story after Act 1. And that makes for a nice coherent feel and adds to the day in the life I mentioned. Never gonna blow you away, but don't reroll over it.
  23. This makes me nervous. I'm straight light on my Shadow who's in Act 3, but I have a baby DS Sage I want to level, and this thread isn't promising. I kind of knew it already, just by seeing what the DS choices were as I passed 'em, but still. I want to play the cocky exceptional Jedi as he makes more and more questionable choices... maybe I'll have to opt to save a bunch of Jedi through act 1 and farm DS other ways. We'll see I guess.
  24. Where would the "Run Luke! Run!" have come from had he been fighting. He recognized that he had set Luke on the path he needed to be on, and that Yoda was better suited to finish Luke's training. And we know from his "more powerful than you could possibly imagine" he really knew what he was doing. But at the same time, I guess you could argue he didn't really think about it. A Jedi is guided by the Force, and so it's entirely possible Obi just knew this was what he needed to do to help end the Empire at that moment and trusted in the Force. It would be the Jedi thing to do. And as I type I get more and more theories... some of them very unlikely. But still. Obi had reasons to do what he did.
  25. L2 Rule of Two. I'd also like to argue the idea that Dooku was more of a lord than Maul. Maul was much more of a Sith. IMO, Dooku was a Dark Jedi with a Sith title.
