  1. Cathar are part and parcel of the problem with bioware. They do not seem to be able to complete as promised. Yeah sure, things change. We know the game flopped. If they can't produce what they promised before the FTP announcement, they need to come out and say what is on and off the table. No seriously, they have a responsibility, if they want to make money, to lay out a general direction of the game. We all know that Cathar, Makeb, guild ships, and mini games have been promised. Instead finishing those task items, we instead are getting things like the reputation system. Wait, what? Who has been screaming for that? No one. So... I'm sorry, but if bioware can find time to produce a reputation system, they have no excuse for not completing something like cathar.
  2. LOL, let me rephrase. Since the last time they completely failed produce, have they failed since?
  3. If it is an "expansion" it would likely mean that any real expansion is far off the table. Lets face it, it was slated as a content update. I enjoyed the game, but burned through the content. I consumed 6 month subs at a time. I was not crazy about the lack of updates, so I have to leave for awhile. The current "expansion" was announced last spring and projected by the end of the year. Still we wait. Sorry, but I'll save my money. No, I don't care that you don't care. Please feel free to post long and boring rants about how I need to move on. I am not going to waste my time reading them. Yes, it's more fun for me to post in the forums now than play the game. If you fan folk were having such a good time, that is where you would be as well.
  4. I think in the guild summit video, they talked about guild mail. If I remember correct, they said that it would clog up their servers and reduce game performance. I remember this because I was so baffled that this huge budget game was developed without a feature that every MMORPG i have ever played has had. Go figure. Good luck with the guild stuff.
  5. Since this is your first MMORPG, I will share my thoughts. Most devs never stop tweaking "unbalances." Yes, these unbalances seem to ALWAYS be PVP related. Many a good game has been ruined for the sake of balance. What is ironic about pvp, is that you almost never have a true 1v1/ neither side having an advantage or disadvantaged fight.
  6. To the OP Yeah, I would love to see it. However, I don't think it will happen soon. I think they talked about this at the guild summit. I could be wrong. What they talked about was that your player ship is an instance. You share that ship with every player of that class on your server. If you have noticed, your ship has its own chat. When I remember the devs talking about this, they seemed completely baffled as to how to make ships be customizable. Many people get annoyed at space, because it is on rails. If you remove the pretty sights, people would realize that the entire game is built on the same rail.
  7. I support mini games. The more the better. I need something to do while playing that is a fun time synch.
  8. Holy Crap!!! It could be anything. A computer only runs as fast as its weakest link. In other words, any rate limiting bottleneck will make your game run like crap. People often overlook motherboard BUS speed and hard drive data transfer rate. Internet can also be a problem. If you want real solid advice, post all your specs and internet connection.
  9. The intel chips are like buying Nike shoes. At least 100 bucks of it is going to pay for the name. AMD makes competitive chips that are by far cheaper.
  10. LOL, you're trying to apply logic. This game is broken. I have worked in environments where massive layoffs have taken place. People operate on fear, rumor, and loathing. Being innovative in an office like that means you stand out as the tallest blade of grass. The tallest grass gets hit by the blade first. Most of the people left are likely just trying to survive long enough as YES People so that they might make their time enough to be vested.
  11. 10 bucks is cheap. On the other hand, I am not giving it to them. In fact, I canceled. Value, ethics, business model, track record, and gut instinct tell me it's not worth buying. I bought the CE, the box was prettier than most of the stuff inside. The game seems to lack core systems (basic things like guild mail and mini games)., Slow content release, Lack luster story, Daily quests, No community/ social aspects, a changed business model, over hyping PR, announcing FTP a week after pre launch six moth subs were renewed, and the list goes on.
  12. It would have been awesome for players to have a calender that would have allowed them to sign up for running FP and OPS and it be an in game system.
  13. I'll try and be constructive. I was a leader of a pre-launch guild that started with 35 members at launch. By the end of the second month 5 of us were still playing. We reinvented ourselves multiple times. In total, we had as many as 400 members who came and went with the rising and setting of the game. When the first server merger happened, we were the largest active raiding guild on the server Juyo. A. From a guild standpoint, there was a total disconnect with our lower levels. Unless you had an alt character who happened to be at the same level and near the same quest, it was always a hassle to group with new lower level guildmates. Grouping while leveling just never functioned. We would recruit many low level players and try and get them to group. It would last for a few levels, but once someone leveled ahead, it was over. To fix this would be some type of element that would allow a lvl 50 char to scale down levels when grouped with a lower level guild mate. This way, their exp would not be negatively impacted. It would also allow replay value to lower level content. B. Pre launch, guilds had ingame public and private forums on SWTOR. They need to come back. It was a great hub for communication. We ended up using facebook but not everyone wanted to use it. C. It hurt that there was no guild mail, guild calender, or guild search feature. B. would have helped but in game is better. D. Guild halls, guild progression/ guild mini games. We never had a place to call our own. Other than flashpoints , raids, and some warzones, guilds really don't have much to do together. Yeah, there was some internal crafting but that system is very lackluster in this game. It would have helped to have had a place to plant our flag. Guilds are about community. The stronger the community, the more likely people are going to invest time and money into this game. Sadly, they know all this. They knew enough to have a guild summit and never really enhanced guilds beyond a bank. If they had a team working on guild or community features, they have produced nothing in the past year. For the most part, my guild is inactive now. We just got sick of the same content. I figured out that we had run EC 64 times (mains and alts) since it had launched and we were waiting for new content.
  14. It has pretty much been that way since launch. You see more players at the lower levels. Not all players make it to 50. At launch we started with 35 members in our guild. Ten of us made it to 50; the rest quit. You have to also consider that people are grinding alts. The power grinders will burn up and away to level to 50. The casual alt grinder will play intermittently. Good luck with all of your adventures.
  15. I thought things were going to be sooooo different. Pre launch they had a guild formation system with each guild having public and private forums built into the SWTOR website. I was amazed at their foresight. Then at launch they removed them. Once in game, we found out how utterly lacking the guild system was and is. Frankly, I am amazed that they managed to do guild banks. A strong community and community goals builds to an MMORPG. The lack of it hurts the game. These may have helped and show how utterly mismanaged this game is that they are not in. Guild Calender Guild Mail Auto Summon Guild Halls (Ships, instances whatever) The rest are kind of my wishlist. Guild Warzones (To be able to practice the WZ maps) Guild Progression system (of any type)
  16. The crazy thing now is that even full servers do not mean a healthy game.
  17. I understand. Since FTP went live my entire guild quit. Most of us were just burned out on content and were waiting for new content. I asked on our website the other day if anyone was going to be interested in buying the 10 buck expansion. Not a single person was interested in giving bioware more money. This is out of dozens of former avid players, all core members. People who post about leaving the game actually care about the game. Most of us followed this IP for years. To see if fail is a sad disappointment. If Makeb IS the expansion of 2013, it is going to be a long year.
  18. I think you are missing the point. It is NOT a sense of entitlement. Yeah, we have paid bioware and supported the game. Yes, we have enjoyed it to a point. This comes down to value and entertainment. This is not a sandbox game by any stretch of the imagination. Bioware runs a theme park. They are responsible for building the rides. I think we can agree that both subscribers and free to play players want to be entertained. For many of us subscribers, especially those who buy 6 months at a time, we were banking on future content. We got free to play instead. While I gladly pay a subscription there is a tolerance value involved. Paying for Makeb goes over that tolerance value. You can try and justify it any way you want, but people are leaving. You can defend bioware and your logic might even have some truth to it, but in the business world if you don't have happy customers, you start to lose money. It's short term thinking to rake your customers over for every dime possible. Last year, I had paid for two accounts to run for 12 months. If we stuck around, they would get another 2 renews of six months. Instead, they are losing me over 10 bucks per account. You can defended it any way you want to but it won't change the exodus.
  19. Maybe this is their christmas event? Its called "Holiday Blackout."
  20. Maybe this is their christmas event? Its called "Holiday Blackout."
  21. Nope, we are not going to buy it (Me and my wife both have accounts). In fact, it was the tipping point to having us hit cancel. Since launch we have bought 6 month subscriptions. They announced FTP just a week or so after we had renewed. The game has been just so so to this point. We feel that it lacks core features. Just one example is the lack of being able to mail our entire guild. By design, they avoid features like this. They have said it would clog up the servers... I can understand this, the game runs like a pig. I custom built two top of the line computes to run this game and it still slogs here and there. Frankly, the mass exodus has forever changed this game. The plans they had are gone. The devs they had are gone. What is left is a shell that is desperate to survive. In their bid for cash, they have traded customer service. Makeb was supposed to be free to subscribers. I frankly did not believe them. They proved me right. I really hope the best for this game; it should be great. In the future, if they prove they can design value added content I may check it out. Till then, I say NO. They cannot have my ten dollars. It is not much money. Ten dollars is so cheap, why would they risk my two six month subscriptions over it? It was a tipping point for me. It's just bad PR on their part. Seriously, a content update should be nothing but positive. How badly mismanaged are they that they have managed to drive a wedge between them and a section of their subscribers?
  22. Saying Perk is like saying that I am getting something special as an added bonus. This is not the case. I subscribed. If I subscribe to a magazine, it is not a perk to get that magazine in the mail. I never expected Makeb to be free, despite them telling us that. Frankly, I disbelieved them. They are a company in trouble. However, their choice to charge for it is also causing me to NOT renew my subscription. They have decided, in my case, that trying to get 10 bucks out of me is worth more than my six month subscription. It's cool, Im really not bitter. I am glad they let me know now as opposed to later. I can at least cancel ahead of time this round. If the game comes around, I'll be back. If not, I'll have saved hundreds of dollars (family accounts).
  23. Sorry bro, what freaking perks are you talking about? I paid for the game in boxed form and in 2 consecutive six month subscriptions. Unlimited warzones were not a perk, they were part of the standard features of the game. They waited until after us early access six month subscribers had just renewed to announce FTP. Many of us have been biding out time ever since. If your attitude is the prevailing attitude of bioware, they will never get my business again.
  24. From what I remember, look it up yourself, they bought an unfinished version of the Hero Engine. They had people working for them that said they could finish it themselves and adapt it. Those people no longer work for bioware. The creators of the Hero Engine do not support SWTOR as part of the initial deal.
  25. I buy subs 6 months at a time. They announced FTP a week after my last sub was purchased. I have been sitting on the fence since then. I was excited about Makeb as I wanted new content. I had a sinking feeling that they were going to draw it out and charge me for it. I was right. I canceled my subscription last night. If they want my business in the future, they are going to have to earn it. No, it's not just 10 bucks. Its $160 for my account and my wife's. To add an additional $20 on top of that, I would rather save my money till they prove themselves. I believe we paid $320 for the past year. They can do the next 12 months on their own.
