  1. One could make the argument that a $80,000 Mercedes is only 20% better than a $35,000 Honda.

Sometimes you pay vast amounts for incremental increases. You are certainly not forced to get the faster mount.

you could say that, if the price increases were remotely similar, this isn't a 35k to 80k jump, this is a 40k for 90% speed jump to 210k for a 10% speed boost.

That's more then a *********** x5 price hike to go slightly faster, and not get knocked off "quite" as easily... then they add insult to injury by bumping it up yet again to 310k for another 10% at 50..

This is beyond a money sink, it's more along the lines of just throwing your money in the garbage... Seriously what do the devs care if we go "faster" they're not making additional money off the credits we spend ingame.

Those speeder training prices need to either come down... alot, or the speed needs to be jacked up.... ALOT.

  2. UO tried the different route. No levels or "classes". Consequences for being a bad player and dying. Most players were not mentally mature enough to handle dying and what not so they left. EVE is/was different but again, you might die so people stay away. You deviate from the plan and the masses won't play. Irrelevant death (psst, it's not real) in a video game is more than most can handle. Just look at what happens when the DPS don't know their class and pull aggro and die. They cry about the tank failing ,you know cause again....irrelevant death in a video game is serious business. I'm glad I'm not that mentally frail.

Actually EVE has a sizable and steadily growing playerbase, it has it's issues but it's a good example of how making your own game without adhering to "industry norms" can be successful. However I find the gameplay to be extremely boring and repetitive as far as mission running and whatnot goes.

  3. Yeah, RIFT isn't a breakout hit but it's not because it has a dual (quad, actually) spec feature and an LFG system.

RIFT isn't doing as well as it could be because of major class imbalances and a lackluster game world.

Not to mention ham fisted class balancing by the devs, and the HORRIBLE pvp level system you can't even get started on till 50... to get gear that is literally game breaking in pvp.

Which I have a feeling will be the same case in swtor (the gear being game breaking vs those without it) however thankfully it's definitely easier to get (though 50's definitely need to be separated from everyone in the 1-49 range.

  4. The only reason's for posts like this are, you are intentionally trying to sabotage the game or you are trying to rationlize your decision, convince other people that you are right, and find support. You will find much more support for your decision in a WoW Forum, or even a RIFT Forum. You might try there and see. I bet you will be flamed less as well.

lol he doesn't need to sabotage a game that's being sabotaged by its developers already.

  5. Your kidding me right? I have played a good 6-10 hours every day for those entire 13 days and I am level 34... those who are higher level than me did rush to their level and missed datacrons and other things. They also played many more hours than me... truthfully anyone at 50 right now rushed there most certainly...

Right, because you're slow as hell everyone else had to of "rushed"... "puuuh-lezz"

  6. Submit a ticket saying you accidentally bought the wrong item. A gm should be able to refund you. My understanding is you can do that a maximum of 3 times in like a 6 month or 1 year period so use them carefully. I know at least one person who was refunded this way.

yea well that's a huge waste of resources, when they could just implement a standard buyback feature for the correct currency type on those vendors. And or allow items bought for x type of currency to be sold back for the same type at full cost.

  7. The vast majority of players are enjoying the game. They are what's making the servers full and causing queues. The ones here complaining are just trying to start up a flame war.

You'd like to think that, but in reality alot of people will wind up sticking around at least till the end of their free month regardless to see if issues start getting patched. Many will stick around potentially for 2-3 months before dropping to see if bioware makes any kind of significant impact on dealing with the complaints about the game before leaving as well. The game may very well "survive" however since the number of players required to maintain server costs and turn a profit after them is very VERY low, that and the game being based around a very popular ip will help its survivability as well since some fanboys will play purely because it's a "star wars" game.

Obviously like yourself I'm not speaking with the backing of any kind of statistical data, however I am speaking from experience in how I've seen people react to games in the past that haven't had their issues dealt with. The major complaints about this game have been known by the devs now for a long time during beta, and they haven't done **** about rectifying them, which doesn't speak well to their capacity for implementing solutions to problems, however now that they've launched the window for procrastinating about important changes (and adding features that have become a commonplace standard among mmos) is quickly coming to a close.

  8. Actually, the fact that you can run it offline means slicing IS a problem.

If you even can make 10 creds a minute, so 6k an hour from slicing(which is 1/10th what you'll make if you do it right), that's 6k PER ALT.

Say you setup 6 alts with slicing, lets say each has 3 companions out that's 18 * 6k per hour, or roughly 100k per hour, and that's, again, 1/10th what you'll make if you did slicing right. And that's on TOP of whatever you make farming or pvping or whatever.

I have no issues with slicing, but that combined iwth doing it on offline characters was just broken.

That would be a sound argument if you could make the skills autoque themselves while offline, but you can't, all you can do is do a 30 minute que when you go to bed on a few pets and make a little extra pocket change. If you think that's a major game breaking problem then well you're just plain wrong.

  9. If they do add brackets for 50 only it won't be for at least half a year. Last thing they wanna do is slaughter the queue times for us.

oh yea, I don't expect anything regarding pvp in this game to happen quickly, it's an afterthought and nothing more.

  10. Terrible ideas. Brakets are bad. I like warzones, and want to keep doing them pre-50.

Right, but having 50's with anyone sub 50 is a big problem.

The easiest way to solve it would be having 2 brackets, 1-49 and 50's in their own area. Sure the people at 49 will still have an advantage via talents and abilities, but they won't have such a huge advantage (be it now or eventually) due to having a cranked up pvp stat that boosts everything they need to do better in pvp, especially against people without it.

  11. I tend to disagree with you on that, league of legends has by far the worst gaming community of all games, and it has double wow's player base, yes its a f2p game, i dont care, fact is its the top dog period and the community sucks.

People are drawn to drama like rubber necks are drawn to looking at cops on the side of the road. human nature is human.

So keep the wow trolls coming, this game has potential!

If you think LoL has the worst community of "all games" then you must of missed HoN.

  12. The real problem with all MMO's since WOW is that they are all exactly the same. The MMO experience is a "one-shot-deal": after you have seriously played one of them, you really have played played all of them. Sure, each one comes coated with a "new" flavor, but when you bite into the burger it always tastes the same. And it tastes the same because it IS the same. Eight years beyond WOW's Thanksgiving 2004 launch, MMO's have absolutely nothing new to offer. This game is no exception. It's not the fault of the developers, it's the problem with the genre. Few among us except perhaps the most seriously obsessive-compulsive can long-play a game like this without being affected by the persistent and nagging understanding that this is not life, it is not living, it doesn't solve real problems, it doesn't substitute for joy or adventure or breathing fresh air or having real human interactions. In the end, we are little tiny creatures who dare not sacrifice our precious time on this Earth for petty distractions lest we never live at all.

I agree, but alot of these issues of "games being all the same" is due to the market becoming mainstream, and mmos getting a "standardized" formula which companies want to follow so they can have a product that at least produces some money. The real issue is the games are no longer about "exploring what does and doesnt work" in making them, and more about "repeating one thing they know makes money, because people are stupid sheep and will pay and play them over and over".

Me, I like some of the class storylines here, but truth be told once that's over with ill probably just quit and play something else unless something worthwhile gets added, because swtor is basically just wow with voiceovers in space, anyone who tells you different is most likely a fanboy of either swtor or just hating on wow in general.
