  1. meh, i mainly like playing my healer in pvp b/c heals piss off the other team lol. I love jumping in right when some is about to kill a guy then healing him to full and watch them rage chase me around the map.
  2. in what pvp environment are you speaking of where fights are ever 1v1? You don't balance pvp for 1v1 fights. I do agree however 2 dps should not lose to a healer, if so your dps just sucks.
  3. I play a knight, about the only class I feel really weak to is snipers, any sniper who remotely knows what they're doing is pretty difficult to kill as a melee, or at least as a guardian, they just have too much long last CC for you to overcome with the stupid resolve system in this game. You have no chance of living long enough for resolve bar to fill so you can resist other CC's and if you pop it before that they have 2 or 3 more they can fire on you, by the time you're free you're dead. Other than that I feel some of the other classes are powerful but I don't really feel weak in comparison. Spec and gear also matter, changed my spec and got 2 more upgrades and my dps has gone up over 100k from where it was before on average.
  4. while i'm all for cheaper respec's, 50k at level 50 isn't really a huge amount of credits. Also, as people have said, it's not meant to be a dual spec, simply a respec, it's not supposed to be something you need to do every day. If you can't settle on a single play style, the respec system isn't meant to solve that. Personally I hope they add dual specs as I don't like being limited in that fashion but I don't think the current respec costs are too much for the system to function as it is intended.
  5. So I'm pretty much done with pvp in the 50 bracket until they fix the bug where you don't get credit for dailies when you win. On my server republic gets whooped a large percentage of the matches. I suck it up and just play until I can get my three wins, which can end up taking hours. Yesterday I won my first two matches right away, then over the course of 3 hours won 4 more but never got credit for any of the wins so couldn't complete my daily. It finally ended completing for me just as I was about to call it quits. Now tonight, been going for about an hour, just won my first match and again didn't get credit for it. Seriously, I can suffer through losing, I'm willing to grind out and do the work to get geared, I don't think it's too much to ask that the game reward me for earning my win by giving me credit on my daily. I'm just fed up now, so gonna step away from pvp in the 50 bracket until they fix it b/c I'm one rage fit away from canceling my account at this point and I do enjoy the rest of the game so don't want to do that.
  6. occasional? You mean it's not occasional now, the hell is their definition of that, I've opened like 15 bags and only got items from the very first 2 with no sign of that changing heh.
  7. yeah it actually seems worse to me now. I've won 3 since I was 2/3 on my daily and still have not gotten credit for my 3rd win, before, it might happen one time then the next match I'd get it, now I just can't get my daily done, this is the kind of frustration that just makes you not even want to play the game.
  8. Is this supposed to be fixed or what? Hard enough as it is to get the daily done and now when I win I keep getting gipeed out of credit.
  9. main thing I hate about it is that you can get the same crap more than once. So after waiting forever to get a gear token, you can still end up getting a token for a piece that you've already gotten, hell even gotten multiple times; which is very stupid. It stings even more b/c you need a crap load of the tokens you get to get an armor piece, easily months of work. I've already gotten two chest pieces from bags, mostly just the tokens though, if the next time I get a gear token it's a chest piece again, I'm going to be pissed after all the time I have gotten nothing but the tokens and still don't have enough to get anything i want. System is honestly freaking stupid.
  10. So, I find myself having the same gripes about TOR PvP as I had with WoW, which is that gear determines the winner. It doesn't matter how skilled you are compared to your opponent if their gear level completely trumps yours, which seems to be the case in a large number of matches I'm in. I could recall a bunch of situations where we just got stomped b/c the gear level of our team was so inferior to our opponents but suffice to say it just annoys me greatly. Since hitting level 50 my win rate in PvP has tanked drastically. When you add the factor of gear if you don't have it, you can't compete and it kills any fun of PvP. I hated PvP at lower levels b/c I kept getting beat on, as I leveled up it got enjoyable, when they pulled the 50's out I was having tons of fun. Now that I'm 50, I don't even want to bother with it anymore b/c it's just ridiculous. I don't want to suffer through hundreds of losses trying to get my gear up. This was honestly one of the large issues I had with WoW pvp, they made the entire system all about the gear and any team that out geared you enough was generally going to wipe the floor with you. TOR has decided to take the same approach. Before I hit 50, against someone of equal or close level to me some times I'd win, some times I'd lose but it was generally close and it never felt unfair. Since we both would most likely be around the same gear, gotten from questing and what not. When you hit 50, and you have people way above you in gear, there's no chance you're going to challenge them, I've seen one marauder challenge 4 people, he died and they all lived but the amount of time he was alive, if he just had one person, or a healer with him he would've easily destroyed us. I'm sure I'm not the first person to rant about this but I just got so fed up with the pvp I had to vent, so disappointed with it right now.
  11. gah, well that's kind of silly...thanks for the quick replies.
  12. So I just hit 50, bought two champion bags, got the same unsassembled piece for a chest from both. Is that supposed to happen? Am I gonna be stuck crossing my fingers hoping I don't get chest pieces 9 times out of 10 b/c that seems like a whole lot of wasted time. Is there any way to trade it for a different piece or something?
  13. yeah the visual differences of the empire and the republic was kind of a pet peev for me in beta. I really prefer to be republic but the empire is more "cool" to me. Like I really prefer the looks of the Sith armor, 99% of the Jedi stuff looks garbage to me, especially the sentinel. I look at some of the Jedi gear and I swear I don't know wth they were thinking when they designed it. Like the level 50 guardian pvp set...I just shake my head every time I look at it, it has a backpack...a backpack, on a Jedi knight, 'nuff said...until you look at the helmet. Meanwhile, cross over to the Sith side and as a sentinel/Jugg you already look cool by level 15. Odd thing about the sith though, which is true even for Jedi actually; to me a lot of the green gear at those levels looks better than the blue/mod'able stuff which kind of confounds me.
  14. I dunno but I have a hard time figuring out how the heck is calculated b/c it sure doesn't seem like it's unilateral across the board. I have a bunch of toons created, so I have rested xp going on them all the time seeing as I don't play each of them everyday. While I haven't really done any deep analysis or anything just looking I could swear it seems like some characters seem to build rested xp faster than others. I don't know if it's a level based thing or what but I've had two characters both log out with no rested xp, I'd come back to them on the same day and one had almost a full level of rested xp while the other had maybe a quarter bar. Now their level gap was pretty significant at the time but their actual time off line was pretty much the same so I'm not sure how they work that out. Suppose it could just be my perception but just seems like it doesn't calculate the same across the board some times.
  15. How does that make any sense to you? What is the difference in rolling a tank and a dps on two different characters and rolling one character that can dual spec and do those same two things? Wasted time, that is the only difference, the game is no more easier if you can dual spec, the quests don't change, everything is the same except for the time you have to waste splitting between two characters; only now you're mad b/c you have to split your interests between two characters to do the things you want. One character should not be able to do everything but there is no harm in having a little versatility within the guild lines already existing within the class. When I play solo, I like to dps, there is rarely any need to tank when playing solo. Grouping, I like to play a tank, one reason is b/c you get groups more easily but mostly b/c I know when I'm tanking at least the tank won't be terrible. Not saying I'm the greatest tank ever but I at least know the extent of my capabilities and have more control over the pace of the content we're doing. I know I'm not going to zerg fail or give up at the first sign of difficulty. I don't like being forced into suffering through slow solo play so I can have the group experience I want nor do I want to have to dps all the time in groups if I'd prefer to be tanking. Dual spec'ing is essentially in the game already, they just force you to pay for it, which obviously isn't going to be practical for most people on a regular basis. But the argument that dual spec would some how ruin things is a moot one as paying to respec is no different than a dual-spec system aside from the payment.
  16. Yeah I recently started up a consular and ran into this on Coruscant when I couldn't find a new tech blade for Qyzen on the commendations vendor. If it was that big of a deal I would just prefer they did like they did with Khem Val and lock Qyzen into one look and just let him keep str/end as his stats, then just give him some companion kits to alter his look. As it stands they stick you with a gimped tank as there are no good weapons for him and having aim as his major stat just seems silly, that was one of the very first things I noticed when I got him and had a good discussion in general chat about it and the consensus was that yes, that is freaking stupid. Seriously though, if they're going to leave it as is they need to add mod'able weapons for characters like Qyzen so they are equal to other companions like Khem Val.
  17. I have a lot of characters which means I see the story a whole bunch so generally I'll skip anything that's not new. That basically means I skip everything but the class and companion related stuff. There is some of the world arcs that I enjoy more than others though so sometimes I might watch those again, I also play dark and light on different characters so some times depending on the situation I'll watch that to see the differences. Generally though, I skip a lot of it b/c I've seen it multiple times already. I wouldn't really say this is a flaw in the game or anything, I do like the story and the voice but just like any movie or other media, once you've seen it a few times, you don't really care to just keep watching it over and over. That is no different to how I did in WoW, I had all the quests in that game memorized I didn't need to read them, I knew where to go and what to do b/c I had leveled so many characters already.
  18. Meh, I don't really see them as OP, they are very versatile as they seem to have a lot of tools at their disposal but they also lack burst damage. Right now the only class I feel is OP is the operative/scoundrel. That's pretty much the only class that can consistently demolish you before you have any legitimate chance to defend yourself; I mean if I'm 80% dead before I even get off the ground, that's a bit OP to me. I honestly find troopers/BH's more annoying than sents/marauder, I play all three and I am much more effective on trooper/Bh than I am on my sent and they are lower level; though that could be b/c they simply are just very simple to get kills with. Sent and marauder you actually have to work for it a bit.
  19. The ravage thing is actually a bug detrimental to any melee class. If you notice, when it does that, you do no damage at all, so basically the ability did not actually fire, which is why you can use it again. The animation plays, the cooldown triggers but you don't actually damage the target. This happens all the time and can chain multiple times back to back. I've had it where I've used Ravage or Master strike 4 times back to back and it never actually did any damage. This is actually one of my major problems with melee classes right now, it happens on a number of abilities. You'll hit the button, the animation will play, the GCD will trigger but you don't actually do damage. The other thing that really plagues melee classes is hitting the button and nothing actually happens, your toon will motion like he's about to do it then stop. This makes playing any melee class very annoying and it actually puts us at a disadvantage b/c I have not noticed this with the ranged classes I've played. This causes loss of damage which obviously translates into a detriment in both pve and pvp. Bioware seriously needs to fix this as currently it really is just silly, how this even got out of beta this way is a bit comical to me; right now combat as melee just feels so disjointed, I feel like my character is not doing what I want him to actually do a lot of the time or I'm constantly repeating the same skills b/c they don't cast as they shold. Really kills the combat flow and enjoyment for me; this isn't some sporadic bug, it literally happens all the time so there's no reason they can't track this down and work a fix.
  20. Okay, while the current content in the game is decent and all that, I have to admit I was expecting a bit more 'flash' for lack of a better word. Since most people have played WoW at some point I have to again fall back to that for comparison. Remember when WoW started adding missions where you ride on the back of large monsters, or do bombing runs on the mechanical planes and what not. I was kind of hyped bout SWTOR b/c I found myself just imagining what the Bioware team could do with that type of mission in the star wars universe, alas there are no such missions. It's all just the same generic stuff. Don't get me wrong, the story is good, I have fun leveling but it seems they did not push any boundaries with the quest pallet. I guess what I want technically isn't pushing the boundaries either but it certainly is entertaining. I was hoping to be doing gun runs in fighters, something like the Hoth battle from the movies would fit right in. It happened in a fairly small area, given the large areas they use for missions now it would totally just be a phased event. I want missions where I'm piloting one of these walkers I see they have all over; blowing up things, shooting fighters out of the sky. I guess I'm just trying to figure out where's the action, where the "war" from Star Wars? I've played five classes beyond 30 and I'm still not seeing the adrenaline. I guess there always has to be some place to go for expansions but I honestly hope the scope/scale of their missions gets much more broad. Given the setting I just feel like there's so much more that could be done from a mission stand point as far as variety.
  21. If you're behind in levels compared to the planets you get sent to it's honestly b/c you skipped a planet some where or you skipped some hubs on a few planets. I say this simply b/c I have like 5 characters beyond 30 and 1 beyond 40, I have both republic and empire and I am consistently minimum of two levels above the content, usually 3 or 4 but my very first toon I didn't have everything stream lined and even then I was 2 levels above the content on every planet I went to. On that first toon I also missed the bonus series you get on Nar'shada and I'm still 2 levels above everything. That said, if you honestly can't find anything else, then sadly yes, space, pvp or doing the repeatable heroics are basically your only options.
  22. In a few cases, there might be a difference of a few points in the base armor value of an item from lower to higher level requirement. So the lvl 19 item might have 20 armor with no mods and the lvl 49 item might have 25 or something. Still not a big difference obviously but I have seen small differences like that. Other than that though, generally higher level stuff just looks better and that is the appeal to switch out gear. If you don't care about looks though, yeah, your oranges from Esseles/BT can take you to 50 as long as you update the mods. I honestly have to say this is probably the greatest itemization system ever in an MMO.
  23. short answer, yes, it is unrealistic to expect a filtered general chat. I have to admit I too am guilty of this from time to time, not generally asking for help on a specific guy but if I'm doing a mission and there's a funny line or something in the story, I generally will talk about it in general chat. I never really consider the 'spoiler' aspect of it. I just saw something funny to me and I wanted to share, the fact that I'm spoiling it for someone else doesn't usually occur to me in that moment. Anyway, as I said to answer the actual question, I don't think you can expect this, the only reasonable that can be done to alleviate it a bit would be to add "LFG" and "Help" global channels so people could keep that stuff out of general if they chose to. Even then though it would still happen, much like people in WoW still advertised stuff for sale in general even when there was a buzzing trade channel.
  24. Agreed, if for no other reason, I often find myself leaving planets with Heroic 4's to do b/c I don't like waiting around forever if no groups are going when I need to do those. I do however always come back to do them b/c I don't like leaving quests undone. This would be much easier to accomplish if I could keep my eye on a universal LFG channel so if someone is looking to do a quest on a planet I'm no longer on, I can actually still join up with them and go back and do it. To me this is just another very basic thing that this game is lacking, this should not even be a feature that needs to be asked for.
  25. I admit in most games crafting is not my favorite thing to do, I always do it just b/c I like to be self sufficient, I generally role multiple toons and have every profession spread across them so I can support myself as I don't like paying the silly prices people like to sell things for. That said, while the crafting in this game isn't some spectacular funfest, it is a step above most games since your companions can do all the boring work for you. My only gripe is that at lower levels on the shorter missions, you have to keep going back and forth to send them out on missions, it'd be nice if you could queue up a few. Other than that though, the crafting system in this game does at least alleviate the tedium of mindlessly searching for nodes and grinding out useless items by allowing your minions to do that for you. So I agree to the extent that in most MMO's crafting is boring and in TOR that's essentially still true, the up side is that in TOR you don't actually have to do all the boring stuff yourself so I actually like what they've done. I can't really think of any reasonable system they could implement in an MMO type environment that would make crafting not a boring grind. So Bioware has done the next best thing, make it so you don't have to do the grind yourself.
