The harmless text does represent other people's opinions, though. It's not randomly generated by "The Internet". It's great for you if you can pretend that everyone on the internet somehow doesn't exist or that what they say is meaningless because... it's 'the internet', but not everybody feels that way. I personally try not to get upset by what people type on the internet as it's ultimately pointless, but telling someone to grow up and calling them immature and irrational for caring about what other people think is... actually, exactly the type of behavior you just "advised" them to ignore. Maybe you have a point.

Yes, I don't like that sort of behavior, either and I hardly ever kick anyone unless they're being rude or won't listen to polite advice when it comes to tactics at all. (and in the latter case only if they're clearly the one hindering the group from progressing.) As long as we can get the FP done and people aren't insulting each other, I'm good. Indeed. I know his gear might get him kicked more often than deserved, but I still doubt that he would get kicked for it regularly without having done anything else - but, as I said, that's only based on my experiences.

Ah, I don't pay that much attention to numbers and I used "pulling their weight" as a lazy generalisation of any kind of behavior that might make the rest of the group take a second look. Dying very quickly, for example. But generally anything disruptive - pulling mobs without waiting/jumping ahead of the tank as DPS even though the tank asked them not to/bosses dying at a significantly slower rate than "normally" which may end up causing problems for the healer... that sort of thing. Not all of that has to do with gear, obviously, but in my experience people are more likely to pay attention to someone's gear if they're behaving in a way that is somewhat different/disruptive. What I was trying to express was slight doubt as to whether gear is the only reason the OP's friend keeps getting kicked, since as you say, gear and numbers aren't everything.

I agree, but I doubt that every group the OP's friend ended up with did an immediate gear check and then kicked him. It's not impossible, but it doesn't match my experiences at all. Most of the time, people only start checking the rest of the group's gear if someone isn't pulling their weight or out of boredom if someone has to go AFK.

Yeah, Hoth was the worst for me. (It didn't help that it was also the first part I went for.) Ask in General whether anyone else is doing the quest every once in a while, it really helps. The part will turn up eventually

You still have to find people for heroics the normal way. ("LFG" x 100 in General, most of the time ) Otherwise, GF does what it says it does. You can pick which Flashpoints or Operations you want to queue for and when you get a group, you get teleported there. (You can't queue for level 50 Ops if you're level 55 for some reason, I haven't seen a good explanation for that yet. Maybe so they won't get too easy.) I think it works well? Not sure what the problem might be.

No, it's entirely possible. Maybe I'm just starting to filter these things mentally when I don't turn off the chat altogether. Yes, Makeb was nasty in the first two or three weeks. I still see some people ask why they can flirt with a guy now, but they're mostly just surprised. Mostly.

Does it? At least on the Red Eclipse it seems to be about the same for both sides. (Dromund Kaas and Coruscant being the worst offenders, naturally.) Although I can't speak for end-game areas on the Rep side as my highest level Rep is level 37.

Don't be so sure I have quite a few male characters. I wouldn't worry. The only people who would mock you for playing a female character are people you won't want to associate with anyway. Aside from that, I don't think many would even comment on it. There are plenty of guys who play female characters. Bonus points if you don't feel the need to "justify" playing a female character by saying you'd rather watch a female butt than a male one Edit: Ah, I didn't read the first post by Zandoezan carefully enough before posting this. The "butt" comment wasn't a specific jab, just something I hear a lot.

The chat is cross-instance, though. Otherwise I agree, I always pick the instances with the fewest people as well. I dislike having to stand around and wait for mobs to respawn. Yes, some people tend to start insulting others based on where they're from as soon as they either use their first language or merely mention where they're from. Thankfully I've never had any issues with that, but I've seen it happen. (Ich komm aus Österreich ) I can imagine that it's similar on the German and French servers - being narrow-minded isn't a trait that's exclusive to English-speakers after all. Of course, whenever someone mentions that they're female it seems people cannot resist the urge to comment, either, so it's not limited to language or nationality. (I also see quite a bit of dislike towards the US on the Red Eclipse.) Oh well. The only real options are not playing or turning off the chat, people won't change just because we'd like them to.

Yes, agreed. I guess it's not as common on US servers, but I see a lot of "omg write in enlgish!!!! its rude to use a language nobody else understands" on the Red Eclipse, too. Arguing with people like that never goes anywhere at all (naturally), so I just turn off the chat these days. It's not worth the headache. I understand wanting to help people, but honestly, I'm growing tired of, "Where can I get a lightsaber?" "How do I pick an AC?" -> "How do I get back to the fleet?" "Where can I get a speeder?" and "Can anyone help me with [insert story mission]?" x 10.

All I want is skimpy armor for my male characters! Heavy armor? Two straps of leather across their ******s and a pair of hot pants! Hell yeah! Seriously, though, I think this game is doing all right in terms of revealing clothes for females. It could be so, so much worse. That said, I do actually think we should have similar options for male characters. Bare-chested isn't quite the same thing. The gear you can get via comms from the Makeb vendor is more than enough to run the FP with a group, as long as everyone sort of knows what they're doing. I would suggest reading up on the boss tactics beforehand, though. I do think HK51 is worth it, yes. He does great damage! And I did miss my snarky, murderous droid from KOTOR I&II, so if you've played that... he'll be a nice substitute. "Target locked... Death imminent."

You said you read up on your class on a website - just as a heads-up, Noxxic isn't that great a choice most of the time, in case that's the website you're referring to. You can generally find great guides in the subforum for your class and, unlike other guides, they're quite likely to be up to date with the latest patch. Don't let it get you down. I agree that not knowing the correct cylinder for healing means you probably didn't quite do enough reading/experimenting beforehand, but it happens.

For me, it's the lack of a convenient terminal that stops me from queueing while I'm out questing. So I hop around the fleet, wait for a pop, turn in the daily and then move on to questing or FPs. The loading times are annoying, too, but not the main reason. As an aside... I can't believe how many people (all of them?) spelled "queue" correctly in this thread. This has to be a first.

It will still be 57, don't worry. They can't take something away that you already paid for only because you remove your credit card information. (If you want to be absolutely sure, just check if the money has already been removed from your account. If so, you're good.)

I played both Kotor I and II on my Win 8 PC so it's definitely possible. Did you comb the net for suggestions? I did and I managed to get it to run, though I don't recall exactly how. I don't think I installed anything extra, but I'm not sure. I do know I only managed to run it in windowed mode - otherwise it didn't work. Your problem sounds similar, so mess around with windowed mode a bit and try Google. Sorry, I can't remember exactly how I got it to work, but it can be done so don't give up. (I remember that I couldn't make it work on Win 7, even with the fix. So I don't know, for all that its design is terrible, Win 8 hasn't given me any grief when it comes to games yet.) Edit: I have both games on Steam, if it matters.

I'm honestly baffled you'd even consider that the event might be a class-specific one. Why would they exclude 7 of 8 classes? That... makes no sense at all. If the game had, I don't know, ten times its current population it might be viable to make a specific event for each class, but as it is...? No way.
