  1. I've leveled a warrior, bounty hunter, and am halfway through the consular story. I really enjoyed the BH story. I went light side--because being a good employee and keeping to the contract is light side. There are some light side choices that have you actually violating your contract, but just as many revolve around following through and bringing somebody in alive rather than in pieces. You do not have to be a mandalorian. I really can't think of any movies in particular. Act 3 kind of made me think of some sort of bourne identity thing, only not so intense. Acts 1 and 2 were great, act 3 was a little slow.
  2. I've leveled a female BH to 50 already and want to reroll. I am totally in love with the voice actors for both male and female, and have zero interest in the romance stories (love me some Mako and Torian but I don't like their romances arcs). I had half a mind to do something totally different this time around. My current BH is female, light side, and thought about doing male, dark side, and rockin' the rep with Gault and Skadge. What do you guys think? The gritty voice just seems to fit a darker personality type to me, but the female voice actor just nailed the bounty hunter perfectly imo, whereas the male voice kind of sounds almost like he's trying too hard. I really can't decide, what did you guys pick and why do you like it? Do you wish you'd gone with something different?

  4. lol, there are some seriously derpy things in the stories for characters AND companions but Jaesa is the only one I want to jettison from the airlock for being so 1 dimensional, amateurish, and cartoonishly emo.
  5. I'm still leveling and haven't tried any PvP, but yeah, it's pretty much just spamming the same two or three abilities over and over and over again.
  6. I don't know if that exact robe exists, I had that robe minus the shoulder pads though. I got it on Tython or Coruscant, maybe Esseles. Not too sure about the skirt though, I don't think I've gotten one that quite matched that yet. I'm reasonably sure it was from a heroic or possibly esseles.
  7. I actually don't have a problem with rep grinds--exception being WoW's current MoP implementation as a gateway to end-game content. Reputation that acts as yet another OPTIONAL source to get geared up for entry level FPs/ops, as opposed to, say, crafting gear, mission rewards, and the daily dungeon finder is just dandy in my book. Rep grinds for optional fluff and access to money sinks like vanity items, mounts, moddable gear, that's great. Rep grinds that can open up new daily content or something? Neato. It only becomes a problem for me when you -have- to grind reputation in order to progress in the end-game. World of Warcraft is trying that approach with the current expansion and I've heard a lot of complaining about it, even from people who normally play all day every day and do not mind any other repetitive aspect of the game. When you have to grind reputation to spend valor points for gear that you will just replace in the raid you're doing to grind said valor points, the system seems counter-intuitive and clunky. Arguably I consider it a problem when you have to grind several factions because the gear you need is scattered among many faction vendors--legs here, cloak there, etc. It's still not so bad, when WoW's system worked this way the rep grind was still entirely optional and there were still other ways to gear up (crafting, quest rewards, dungeons, etc). But reputations and factions allow for more options and choices regarding entry level progression gear, vanity items, and the like. Pets and mounts could be distributed this way--a long rep grind followed by a good money sink for something unique and fun.
  8. I would love to see a sort by "type" feature.
  9. I would trade Jaesa for Thana Vesh any day. I've been wanting a Thana Vesh companion since my first run through Taris. Dark side Jaesa, on the other hand, is poorly written trash.
  10. If you can't get to fleet try using your emergency fleet pass. Once you get there, find the elevator for hutta/korriban departures. The questgiver for advanced classes should be at that location. I don't know if this game requires you to enable low level mission tracking on the minimap via the options panel, but you might have to if you can't see it on your map.
  11. I did the same thing with my bounty hunter and my consular. I actually made 3 starts to my consular before deciding to just go with light side. I solved the problem by taking all the class stories and the general rank people give them and have decided to play them in order from least-liked/least exciting to most liked/most exciting, starting with Consular and ending with Agent. Then I decided to pick a light side/dark side progression that seems to suit the character, voice actor/actress, and which companions I like or want to romance. By the time you get to level 10 you should have some general idea what direction you really want to take your character. When you get an idea, like that evil sith warrior, write it down and when you get bored, go make that sith warrior. I have a hard time sticking to just one character, but usually I can get one or two to max level before I start really wanting to jump back into alts gain. Currently it's a bounty hunter and warrior, and now working on my consular.
  12. I haven't leveled an agent so I don't know much about the story, only that it's apparently pretty good. However just because the BH story isn't AS good doesn't mean it isn't ANY good. I really liked playing the light side BH (light side only because keeping to the contract is apparently light side, along with a lack of chaotic stupid choices). The Agent story is apparently really good, but I really did enjoy the BH story too. Parts of Act 2 get pretty slow but Act 1 and Act 3 were great imo.

It's the quality of life things you'll miss, not necessarily content unless you really like warzones, flashpoints, and ops.
  14. Haha twinsies. I actually typo'd my GPU. It's the 560 ti 448 core. But yeah, OP should totally build a bright shiny new rig and save about $500. I'm also at max settings, FPS seems to hover around 70 but I never seem to dip below 60. World of Warcraft runs at 100+ FPS at ultra settings (with some tweaked past ultra) if I don't throttle it.
  15. In the movies many of the Empire's officials had British accents. That's really the only reason the Empire has this kind of accent in the games. Also, whether the Empire (not the Sith, but the EMPIRE) is good or bad actually is pretty subjective. If you want to look at an accent and feel affronted because it's used to represent a group of people that you may not particularly like, then World of Warcraft must think Jamaicans are nothing but a bunch of voodoo worshipping lazy layabout trolls. Catch my drift? The Empire has an accent. It could just as easily have been German or Chinese or anything else.
  16. To be honest I would rather see manual sorting of characters, with two buttons at the top, bottom, or side of the scrolling character list. One for alphabetical: click once to sort A-Z. Click again to sort Z-A. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. One for amount used: click once for most-least. Click again for least-most. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Click and drag a toon for manual sorting. Keep the scroll, paging was stupid.

Yes, you have access to the level 1-50 level grind, planet arcs, class stories, some limitations on flashpoints and warzones, but yes, you can experience the meat of the game absolutely free.
  18. One single daily would more than cover your repair costs. For a patient, nice person you sure are presumptive and arrogant. Just sayin'. I have run my fair share of bads through dungeons in other games, some that were up front and some not so much, and I would never, ever dream of taking their loot. Wiping too easily and don't have time to derp around with them? Then I leave and move on to something else. Otherwise I will hold their hand and explain the fights after the first wipe (usually even before, regardless of experience of the group if I'm in a pug), and when we finally finish it, their loot is their reward for listening, doing their part, and LEARNING. I'M the one who chose to incur an unreasonable repair bill by staying with them. Why should I punish them because I'm the one stupid enough to not drop group?
  19. So I just wanted to recap what some others are already saying. Download CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware or some other malware remover, and consider a PC tune up utility. http://www.techsupportalert.com/ has some good suggestions for freeware that should help you scrub your computer. You might also consider reading the guide at http://www.tweakhound.com/windows7/tweaking/index.html and see if you can get some nonessential services from loading and hogging your ram. Worst case scenario, if you have your Windows 7 CD key try a fresh install. Your key should be on a sticker somewhere on your case if you purchased a pre-built system, otherwise it'll be in the case the install disk came in. Update all your drivers, especially your CPU, GPU, and Motherboard. Run Windows Update repeatedly until all updates are installed. The problem is probably mostly bloatware like spyware, malware, unnecessary services, etc sucking up all your RAM. It's my understanding swtor has a memory leak issue that has not been entirely resolved yet, and that might be a lot of your troubles there. And one more thing regarding game performance. Some time ago swtor's antialiasing setting was all messed up. It didn't work, and still ate all the resources it would have used had it worked properly and then some. Consider disablling the in-game AA and enabling FXAA or other AA settings in your GPU's settings. Also, I built my current rig for around $850. To be fair one of my harddrives and 4 gb of my ram is from an older rig I built a few years ago, so there's some money I saved, but the whole thing would not have cost me even your $1000 budget. 23 inch 1080p monitor Intel Core i5 2500k, not overclocked GeForce 550 ti 448 core, not overclocked 10 gb ddr3 ram (I accidentally ordered 6 gb ram cause I'm a derp so now I have 10 ) Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard CM Storm gaming mouse (those crazy keybinds, can never get enough) I spent all in all about $800 on these parts last year from Newegg. If I'd been a little more choosy and patient I probably could have saved a lot of money. If you decide to upgrade your PC, consider working with somebody local who builds computers for a living. You'd be surprised, they can help you choose the parts you need AND put it together for $50 or so, and you'd save literally hundreds of dollars over buying a pre-built rig from Dell or other manufacturers.
  20. You can build an entirely new rig for under $1000.
  21. TL;DR, sorry, I'm a jerk like that. Anyway I'm a subscriber and will be for the foreseeable future and I can totally get behind letting ANYBODY who spends ANY money on cartel coins or spends coins in the shop getting free customer service when it bugs out. With the bugged tooltips that were there for a while (are they still?) that said certain single character perks were account wide but really weren't, I honestly find it unpardonable that these people, who gave Bioware/EA their MONEY, are not eligible for real customer service and support to get this **** working. Apparently it's technically not theft since you paid for the COINS, but when those coins don't buy what you thought you were buying or what you bought does not WORK, you really should be completely eligible for customer service in this regard.
  22. There you go, that right there. ALL classes have a repetitive Act 1. Sith Warrior? Go kill some people Baras tells you to kill. Bounty Hunter? Go collect a bounty on each planet. Jedi Consular? Go shield or kill corrupt jedi masters. As I said earlier I just started Alderaan and so far I actually really like the light side Consular. It isn't as action packed, but even light side I've had a few moments where I got to be a total ****** without breaking character. It isn't some sweeping, galaxy changing story so far, at least not in the short term, but the story feels more behind the scenes and in the long run, more grand. The Jedi Knight is out to save the galaxy, the Consular is arguably the only thing that can save the Jedi order--perhaps including the Knight. I feel like the unsung hero, the one who plays just as major a role in this story as any other class, but sadly won't make the history books lol.
  23. Tel'mara, my 30 sage. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/erod1/Telmara_zps2b6041f5.jpg http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3760/telmara2.jpg
  24. I can understand why people might not like the consular story. It's slower and real "behind the scenes", whereas many people really like to play the hero or at least make a larger impact on the story. I have heard that the biggest reason people dislike this story is that if you deviate from the "Consular" archetype very much you'll notice the spots where the story fails to match up with other class stories. I'm playing my consular light side, but it's my understanding dark side consulars have a problem with their dark side choices simply not impacting their story in any reasonable way. In other words, they are arbitrarily behaving like douchebags and nobody seems to notice or care. It shows a lack of polish and attention to detail. LS/DS choices really don't seem to impact any story in any meaningful way, but my BH and Warrior both got many, many comments on their general behavior/alignment throughout the story, people actually NOTICED if you were a ruthless killing machine or had a soft spot. Even my dark side warrior was called a "walking contradiction" by a jedi master because of the way I had handled something two planets ago. If this sort of consequence of choice is missing from the consular story it'll be pretty conspicuous in its absence and probably sorely missed by anybody who played the other stories first. I've played the bounty hunter and sith warrior to completion and loved both stories. I've just started Alderaan with my Consular and I love this story so far. It's a little repetitive, but people seem to forget that most class stories are during act 1. I had hoped I'd get to play the diplomat a little more, but it really doesn't seem like that's the case so far. I'd also have liked to see the shielding take a more obvious toll on the character as time goes on. However overall I really like being the behind the scenes person, kind of feels like the unsung hero.
