  1. I have to agree that the commendation limitation is really strange. I hope they implement an unlockable purchase for those as well.
  2. Try this program. It clears excess memory when there are memory leaks. Set it so that it will clear it every 5 minutes, or when your ram reaches 80% and it will do it automatically. I know it fixed my problem when I only had 4 GB of ram. http://www.koshyjohn.com/software/memclean/
  3. I've posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here as well. Here is my advice for further unlocks available for f2p/preferred players: 1-Permanent credit cap unlock (and commendation cap unlock) The credit cap is crippling for players. We simply cannot buy anything over the cap unless over the top measures are taken. It's not impossible, but it makes everything needlessly difficult. It also does not help the server economy, and I'm sure that the people who are buying cartel unlocks for sale on the gtn are also not appreciating that their prices have to be below 350 in order to sell to anyone who can use it. Think of it this way, your sales of the more expensive stuff like artifact unlocks etc would go up because more people would buy them to put for sale on the gtn. 2-Permanent medical probe unlock Sometimes it's not a big deal rezzing at a medical post, sometimes it's the most annoying thing (when you've just cleared a full cave of mobs and die and have to re-clear them). In either case, having to pay money for each death is never a good thing for f2p games. A permanent unlock would be a good seller. Alternately have medical probes recharge, either one an hour, or some per day. 3-Aleviated chat restrictions for preferred members. 1 post every 10 seconds or however long it is is so annoying when you're talking to people on general chat. Most games level lock their restrictions so you have to be a certain level in order to avoid gold trader spam. Have it so that chat unlocks at level 20 or 25, combined with a preferred status possibly. Preventing or hindering communication is MMO is rarely a good thing. 4- Customer support for all players I think this one is so obvious. If you don't provide support (especially for cartel purchases), you just make your players angry and they leave. You will not receive purchases or further purchases when you piss off your customers (or potential customers).
  4. The last patch was a step in the right direction for the medical probes at least. They are now considerably cheaper. A permanent unlock is still needed though. Even though they're cheap now, you still have to pay to res on the spot every time you die, and that is pretty bad in games. Actually, I would be happy if they would at least reset every day, so you would get 1+ medical probe per day, or per hour, with a cap.
  5. You pretty much hit the nail on the head right there concerning which group spends more money. It's all about barrier of entry. A better f2p/preferred system attracts much more people, and keeps them longer because they're never really gone. If I stop playing tomorrow, I am much more likely to come back in 2-3 months if there's no cost to coming back, and if everything I bought is still there. I am also much more likely to spend money if I come back (obviously). There's a reason I don't go back to great games like FFXI and WoW. I would love to try those games again, but I don't feel like starting to pay a sub just to try them again. With other games like LOTRO and GW2, I log on from time to time and......"oh, look at that new item/unlock in the store. I think I'll buy it" That's the key to a good f2p model. Without having Bioware's sales figures, I am still pretty confident that the cartel market is making a lot of money, at the very least at a comparable rate than sub fees (I think they even surpass sub fees). Anything to encourage more people to play and keep playing as preferred would be good, and getting rid of the credit cap is one step towards that goal.
  6. It would be nice if Bioware gave an update about what kind of unlocks are expected to be released in the market. I wouldn't mind knowing if a credit cap unlock and a permanent medical probe unlock is at least on the table, if it's being considered at all.
  7. Sigh.......I'm saddened by the amount of misinformed people who just spout wrong information. Can you at least try to inform yourself? That is not how it works.....Allow me to explain so that people can at least argue correct points. Current game: Rich player A buys sub from BW Poor/frugal player B buys sub from BW Bioware gets 2 sub fees. Game proposed by OP: Rich player A buys 2 subs from BW Poor/frugal player B buys 1 sub from Player A using credits Bioware gets 2 sub fees. Saying that Bioware employees would not get payed because of this is just false. However, like someone else in this thread said, you can already pay for most of the game with credits with unlocks bought by other players. The only thing missing is the credit cap and a few other things, which I hope they will release soon.
  8. Yep, that last comment pretty much confirms it. Nice of him to keep bumping the thread though. You also forgot the most important one. Future content has to be payed for.
  9. You do not need to refresh my memory. I know what my views are. Another of my views is that cherry pie is superior to apple pie, but I don't need to argue all of my views on every subject here now do I? No matter what my other views on other unlocks are, this thread is about credit cap/support/medical probes. Again, if you want to discuss other unlocks (which I will be glad to do), please start another thread. Your argument is not on topic. On topic, a credit cap unlock, as well as medical probes would not constitute a lifetime subscription, period.
  10. This thread is to discuss the issues raise in the original post, mainly permanent unlocks to credit cap, support for preferred, and unlocks to the medical probes. If you want to discuss any additional permanent unlocks, please make a new thread. As it stands, unlocking these would not be close to having a lifetime subscription. Again, to make the same argument that I made, a lifetime subscription is a 1 time payment, everything after that is taken care or. In this case, preferred customers would have to keep on paying for OP/WZ/FP access, every single week. This is not a lifetime sub. Furthermore, we would pay for content updates. No matter what the price is, we would pay for it. Again, this is not a lifetime subscription in any sense.
  11. A customer is no support is generally a lost customer. It's really as simple as that. If you don't provide support to the free to play crowd, you've just pretty much guaranteed that they will never buy anything from you. If you provide them with timely, friendly service when they get a problem though, they will be much more likely to support you and buy things.
  12. How is what I'm asking for even close to a lifetime subscription? Last I checked, lifetime subscribers in most games get current AND future content for the purchase price. If I buy everything now, I will still have to shell out money every content update. That is not even remotely what a lifetime subscription is. This is of course not even counting access to WZ/OP/FP that all preferred will continue to pay for. Again, not even a little close to a lifetime sub. Your argument just doesn't make any sense.
  13. This is correct. The only artifact level items that can't be equipped are the ones that specifically need to be bought by another unlock, so the event artifact items.
  14. So you said that if you buy not even half of the unlocks, you'd pay less than paying a full sub? Well, geez....duh. Most people will eventually unlock everything though, and this will make bioware more money. Now, if you choose to unsubscribe, and only buy a few things, well you are correct, you will save money for now. That is until the next content update when you will have to open your wallet again, and again, and again. Subscribers won't have to do this now will they?
