  1. Thats true, the story behind the chevin scavenger hut is come provide us with these goods, and we will grant you technical marvels- and then they give you clothing of one of the most primative races in Star Wars.....
  2. It is simple, just like you said, but yet they will not fully commit to that idea even though they originally stated otherwise. It started out with "yes, subscribers will have full access to all content" and now it is "we are not sure if we will charge for certain content". The game does not seem to be headed towards a sustainable place. The milking may be extreme, many will leave. The only safe way for them to procede without losing a lot more customers, would be to release "paid" content updates that are completely purchasable with the monthly cartel coin allotment. And I mean complete, not 1/4 access to some made up planet. I can see it now, 500 cartel coins buys you a shuttle pass to Makeb. You complete about 1 level of content, and then find that the native Makebians have constructed a forcefield preventing further progress - you can by a force field disruptor for 500 more coins. You run through another 2 levels, only to make it to their headquarters. They will not let you in without a signed travel document of your factions government 500 more coins. You nearly complete the planet, the force you are fighting goes underground in refuge- you need to purchase a bomb to get through their barricade- 500 more coins, oh wait, your monthly allotment is gone pay money for more coins or wait a month to finish the story.
  3. Cathar? How is BW going to afford all the cats for purring voiceovers? Now there is no excuse for them not to add wookies, jawas, trandoshins etc..
  4. I got to about that point and just logged out. Will you do the race on my main too?
  5. What am I missing in the video that shows the future of the game? Is it that HK was not shown, so he is being removed now? Everything else has been seen, and talked about. The future of the game is we can expect another video about the future of the game, soon.
  6. Some automobiles we drive and love, and always fondly remember because it drove fast, handled well and to our eyes looked amazing- Even an "outdated" automobile can have qualities and characteristics that make it superior to other new and modern cars. Too bad this car is going to be remembered as the one that looked good on the showroom, though after driving it for a few months, we realized that it was actually a clunker.
  7. This is how I also feel that the F2P will be implemented. First, simple things like armors that are mostly cosmetic. Hopefully it is just cosmetic, who is to say that they will not make some of the cartel coin armor have extra set bonuses? And then there are the announced "helper buffs". What are they? It sounds like purchasable stat increases. If they are temporary like an adrenal, then that seems fine- but how would a permanent stat increase effect the game "balance"? Then lastly the new announced "space" missions. More uninspired rail shooting. Will this cost cartel coins to unlock? Will the purchasable space missions also yeild some sort of crafting material, rare drop or other incentive to purchase that gives players an advantage? I just find myself wondering how far they will go with the cash shop. It seems like a nightmare waiting to happen. Of course, it is all speculation. But that is what is left in regards to the state of the game. I believe both the unconditional supporters, and the critical eye players are really growing exhausted of not knowing what is to come and not knowing what to think of the future of the game.
  8. I have noticed ever since the "official" (who did not see it coming?) F2P announcement, the majority of the posts have become very superficial. The on the fencers have become very silent, the critical players have either left or have given up hope for change to the game, and even the "fanboys" have run out of posts that have even the slightest substance. Hell, even the guy who was taking his time to make an unoffical poll and tally of species the community wanted has disappeared- he was obviously into the game, but even he has left or become a silent onlooker. There is really nothing left to talk about, no verified upcoming content, no hopes for the future content or additions, and the F2P announcement has left us all hanging. What will F2P really bring to the game? Will it be good, bad, ugly even? Speculation as to what sort of content will cost $ and what will be "free" for subs has dried up at this point, for all anyone knows, BW will charge cartel coins for everything here on out. Lately the mod Allison has returned to at least make "soon" comments, or noncommital responses to threads, which is nice of her- though after the long silence, im not sure how effective it is for calming players and giving them the hope for the future they need to commit to an MMO type game. I hope that some form of announcement / timeline for F2P and the actual content it will deliver arrives soon. Personally I am growing wary of the game, and logging in has become a chore, not knowing if the game has a viable future for play really stops me (and im sure others) from clicking the LOGIN button.
  9. Oh I know, I just try to at least post something semi-positive once and awhile. I am completely aware that f2p is a big cash grab and the outlook of the game is fairly bleak, never to be supported in the way I and countless others imagined "with content releases on a regular cadence month after month". Sure, there will be "content", but it will never be as spectacular or enticing as it could have been. The gap in time since any content was released has been too long, and most of the content that has been announced to be coming eventually does not have the any real confidence inspiring offerings. Sure, another warzone would have been great, 2 or 3 months ago. After cyclically repeating content for months, any single new content release will become as stale as the rest very quickly. Unless they add mulitple warzones (OPs/FlashPoints) each content release, but who really sees that as a possibility?
  10. What a hiliarious metaphor. I love it for its truthfulness and context, you should be a writer. Are you an English major?
  11. Maybe after F2P is implemented, and if it is sucessfully implemented to the point where the EA board does not call TOR a failure, then maybe they will have more interaction with the community. For the past few months, it has been a developer ghost town. A little information is all it would take for most people to be satisfied that the game is still going to be supported, as you mentioned, a small write up about what they are working on would be nice.
  12. If you think the "average" player stayed 6 months, and the game saw any kind of profit, you are not very aware how the game has been managed. It would not be going f2p with a cash shop if it was a profitable game. In The last company call, they outright called the game "disappointing", and a failure that was propped up by other sucessful titles like BF3. Subs have been plummeting. And for a reason. The company announced that after 1.2, they would be "rolling out content on a regular cadence". That never happened. Any content that was created or being created was held back as they knew that F2P was coming and in effort to squeeze money out of people, they will be parcing out that content in little pieces to make people think they are still supporting the game. There will be some content, some time this year, though I will bet you the majority will be pay2play chotchkies in the cartel store. And im sure the white knights and fanboys will buy it all up, thinking that in supporting the game, they will get new content. And they will, lots of purchasable chotchkies, and when those run dry pay to win items like stats and exclusive stims will be sold. The company had 2 mass firings, and now barely moderate the game forum- any dev posting is a rarity and the chance of it being new information or even positive interaction is slim. It is not very encouraging at all, after they went on and on about subscription is the way to go, never f2p.... and then abruptly announce f2p and then go near complete silence. A lot of people have stopped posting or even playing. I notice that most of the white knights are new names, even some of the diehard fanboys understood what is coming and either left or are taking a long break until f2p rears its ugly head. It will not be pretty, most of the defending white knights post superfical comments with no substance- they will see once the f2p is live. Is this game the worst MMO of all time? I do not know, it was my first MMO. Did it taint my opinion of MMOS, pay to play games, and the current crowd of video game players? Yes, it certainly did.
  13. Who says any new event is coming? Do not get your hopes up.
  14. In the Star Wars galaxy, corn rows are not ghetto, they are imperial military standard issue haircuts....
  15. New event is a scavenger hunt. Some of the scavenge items will only be available in the cash shop for real life money.
  16. Nobody can answer this question besides you.
  17. Patch 1.4 STOR : F2P 1. Game is now F2P with Cartel Coins purchasable by real life monies used to buy game content. 2. Pay $100 Cartel Coins to see the rest of the patch notes.
  18. I was wondering this as well, what happens to a subscription account if you decide you would rather F2P? Can you make the switch and still keep your characters and items?
  19. Well the game is/was clearly headed for oblivion. The number of players were on a massive downward trend. Fanboys tried to deny it, but closing 100+ servers is a pretty massive change for a new game. With the server merge, it was laughable when white knights tried saying "wow, the game is growing and gaining more players every day!" The thought process of some of those individuals is boggling. As an aside, I think that BW really held out as long as they could on server transfers, hoping to make it a paid service with the cartel coin system- but the hemorraging of players was just to fast to wait until August. They tried implementing F2P up to level 15 to entice people to try and buy, and claimed they were happy with the conversion rates of free players to paying players. That happiness did not last long. Now after developers denying F2P as a possiblity for so long, its here after 1/2 a year of the game being live. Some of the white knights have chimed in saying the game did not have time to evolve "because of the players" , Well guess what? The game would have died if they let it evolve any longer- there would have been no players! We will see what F2P brings. So far, the devs have announced "new" content for the F2P model that has been revealed some time ago. How many times can you reveal the same content? I feel the playable "content" is already completed, and now they willl roll out one piece at a time, coupled with a host of Cartel Shop items that may or may not be related- ie a new flashpoint is released, and new themed armor is available for sale and maybe a speeder skin. Then to keep up with the "new content every 6 weeks" motto, they will release a warzone, and a new themed armor, and maybe another speeder skin. Rinse. wash. repeat.
  20. I think F2P seems like a last ditch effort so save a sinking ship. Though maybe they will prove me wrong, im really pesimistic that this is a good thing for the game.
  21. You stole my line. Except you forgot to add that each time you unify companion colors it will cost cartel coins.
  22. I think the cartel shop will be great. You can buy same sex romances for a couple hundred coins, new hairstyles, pets, speeder skins- all the things that will really make this game great.
  23. They will add this feature, it will cost cartel coins.
  24. EA is tired of dropping any more money on even the most basic staff. They do not even care about the forums. 2 days ago there were inappropriately titled threads with very questionable comments that were open for 12 hours. Substancial, if not all portions of the work for the F2P and any content additions will be outsourced to China. I know, it is a business. I hope they make money, and actually release new playable content on a regular cadence - like they said they would. They have been very vague in saying they will release new "content" every 6 weeks. Though the new content is probably armor, pets, speeders, etc, not acutal content.
  25. There is always the "SUPER SECRET SPACE PROJECT". There was always hope before the F2P announcement, when the devs would go on and on about future content rolling out regularly and no F2P ever, but now I think a space expansion is not likely. With EA viewing the game as a disappointment, I doubt them approving the expenditure a massive undertaking of coding to build a 3d free flight portion of the game. If it was in the works, it is likely that the idea has been canned (along with the staff that was working on the "SUPER SECRET SPACE PROJECT")
