  1. I can see the logic, but not sure I'm comfortable with back loading so much of our damage. I've seen that before in many other MMO's and it could end up making us much more single sided. I prefer the approach to increased DoT's and bonus damage as it ups our damage across the entire range of the fight, instead of making us a one-trick pony. I don't want my DPS across the board to suffer just so i can get some Huge burst right at the end. this is strictly from PvE perspective btw, don't to PvP.
  2. Honestly, I doubt that you as a player will notice the difference between the two enough on an encounter by encounter difference. But I agree with the above...shoot for higher def first, then, get shield and absorb to 50. but that's a personal preference. I've tanked everything in the game except for HM TfB with less.
  3. Feel for ya it's half the reason i picked up a mouse with an adjustable DPI setting. on another note, if you haven't done it yet....there's a setting in properties where you can adjust your mouse look speed. its not the best..I leave it at 0 as even going up to 3 is too fast for me...but I think I found it on setting 2 by default. though im not sure I did that ages ago and forgot...either way, it's there, and if its above zero it may be an option to take advantage of to reduce the spaz effect (As I call it) on your current mouse till the budget opens up.
  4. Well, technically our Crushing blow Effect (with a 5 sunder stack) is also a smart AoE....but the amount of times I can get it to work effectively is about as often as my ex calls me with good news . on a side note, that's another reason I'm irritated at Bio for how they changed Immortal. but that's a different argument. smash as Vengeance is really a timing and distance thing. you have to be very familiar with how far away stuff gets hit. When I run vengeance (as DPS), ill back up a bit just so that the mobs I want to hit are in range. It's not really useable all the time, but this is a way to use it far more often. backing up doesn't impact your rotation at all, as you are usually still within melee range...even if you aren't, you can back up and execute it within 2 GCD's so it won't interrupt a normal rotation. As a vengeance running tank, they covered it above. let them run to you. smash area of effect isn't huge, which makes it controllable, an aspect I like.
  5. I think that's probably the best synopsis of the story. it doesn't have the amazing twists and turns of some of the others (though i was sort of shocked by the turn of events with bara in ch.2, for some reason I didn't see it coming). I think the big part of what people like is the character interaction between baras and the hero, as well as the hero and the companions. My juggernaut has some of the most memorable companion development IMO in the whole game (though I'm really enjoying my smugglers crew so far). it's that, and the baras conflict, and the smooth storyline. with the exception of end of book 1, it felt very "rushed" to me. I would have enjoyed more direct interaction with jaesa so I could see the effects of the doubt on her, and see how it was slowly pulling her away from her old master. It would have felt much more like the conflict between luke and vader. instead we get a much of "just missed her"! then at the very end she just seems to tumble down with in a few minutes. but thats my only gripe, love the rest.
  6. General hotness IMO goes to Dorne. something about the uppity attitude hiding the passion underneath, combined with the accent. woof. but if were talking about relationship material, it would be vette. so durned cute you I can't turn her down. if i had both of em lined up, it would go to vette. She's a bit too skinny for my normal tastes, but I'm more of a fan of what I wake up with the next morning, not just what I go to bed with the night before.
  7. Where did you get that info? I'm not disagreeing because I know, im asking because I've never seen that number before, and that seems an illogical way to approach gearing. your assuming that they're basing the probability on stat distribution rather then gear "class" (light, medium. heavy). so I would need to see your reference before I take that as canon. ON the OP: I can see why people would be motivated to need on items for the mods. However, I'm not that kind of person. Im running FP's regularly. If it were an HM Op, I could see the excuse for BiS. but I SERIOUSLY doubt that any mods from HM FP's are Bis at this point. so that's no excuse for FP's. and if your Ops leader is allowing it...well, guess you should find another Ops leader if you disagree. but for normal PuG's...there's no need to need on another classes gear. However, that being said...if everyone greeds on the item, and I want to need on it, I will wait till everyone else rolls, then ask if i can need (this is out of respect). I have never had anyone turn me down. I've also noticed this is a common behavior...if 2 peeps greed, and the third guy is waiting. its probably because he wants to do the same. So ill then ask him if he wants it for a comp, or mod upgrades. And I'll decide at that point. But if it's a class specific items (agent rolling on gloves), ill let him have it. it's not so much of a loss in a FP that I wont get a chance later on. anyoen who does that in a FP IMO needs some help.
  8. It will be the Assassin/Shadow or Marauder/Sent as described above. the DPS potential combined with the healing AND mitigations is what does it for those classes. a Mara has less defensive capability then an assassin (tank vs DPS with a few CD's), but he kills faster. either way, its the healing/mitigations combo your looking for. I love my Jugg, but im also honest...she couldn't heal a dead stick. Mauraders have a very nice HoT that is procced by a special attack. when combined with their defensive CD's (ones on an amazingly short CD for a defensive skill), it can do a pretty good job of keeping up. for the assassin, its the mitigations + healing. you get heal procs on every strike, and effective use of your channeled damage spell (if your tank spec) heals a pretty fair amount as well.
  9. I agree that he looks more like a sorc then a juggernaut. Plus, he often uses his lightning attacks (of which juggernauts do not have), during cutscenes as well as during final storyline (no spoilers past that!!) But as stated before, NPC's aren't limited by class. He actually reminds me allot of one of my guilds sorcs OP: Vengeance and Rage are both excellent options for your jugg. Vengeance focuses on more steady damage production via DoT's and heavy hitting single target abilities. Rage emphasises building of bonuses via certain skills, then releasing them all in one heckuva massive smash. steady vs burst damage, your pick. Vengeance has more defensive backup, Rage a bit more mobility.
  10. exactly...in that light you will want to look at the default armor value before comparing. light has less value then medium, etc. so if your a juggernaut, as an example, and you take a piece of adaptive armor and look at the armor value, then put it on your companion who wears light, you will notice its base value (before mods) change to reflect that armor type (light, medium, or heavy). This default value is impacted by the mod value. not sure if its a direct multiplication, or there's a longer equation involved...but simply put, the higher the mod value the more armor you'll get from the same piece.
  11. Yup. it's the downside to their approach to making a pure DPS class "attractive" to a raid. something like this is simply too good to pass up. reminds me of shamans in WoW BC...the skill of pretty much the same name was almost mandatory in raids (until they standardized buffs). On the flip side...we do provide a raid wide buff that is usually unnoticed (partially due to some other classes providing the same thing...as well as it is usually "just there", especially if one of the tanks is a jugg/guard. and that is sunder. a 20% armor debuff isn't something to ignore. but the mauraders is intense....and visible. so we DO have a raid buff, it just isn't as cool nor as visible as the maruaders. I think a raid wide shout kind of skill that varied depending on your stance would be fun. Like in Soresu, the raid gets 20% DR for X seconds. in Shien, 20% kinetic increase, and in sho-chi 20% force damage. tht could be a nice buff with a fun mechanic.
  12. This. It's like when they nerfed the damage in immortal tree. No explanation, no adjustment to compensate (when the other tanks were already known to do higher damage....but they didn't get nerfed). just....they reduced our damage. This ones similar. no rhyme, no reason....no explanation (they just happened to miss it in the cute blogs that explain their logic)....it just happened. it's like theirs a small group of implementation techs that like to sneak in changes and hop the mgmnt doesn't notice or something. trying to be lighthearted there, but it really points to a lack of congruity. I have no clue why they would think that we don't care when they make unsupported changes to our favorite classes...but we do (pay attention here Bio!). you really need to devote more time to communication on these subjects. If anything communicates lack of congruity and communication, it's stuff like this.
  13. run vengeance. after 3 different juggs, and with the changes to immortal, Vengeance is best pre 40. both immortal and rage suffer for rage early on, and rage feel empty (more time inbetween skills) until it gets its crowning skill at 40. immortals DPS simply sucks now. pre 20, i mix my skills up and run in soresu...it's simply smoother. once i hit 20, I respec full vengeance and don't look back.
  14. while I certainly agree that Vigilance/Vengeance PvP players may not be happy, I don't touch PvP, so I didn't even notice. I actually read the thread because the OP, like many others, didn't specify it was a PvP only impact. Please specify what aspect of the game you are referring to....it's at best purposefully misleading. I could care less if this skill dissipated entirely from the game. So don't see this nerf your talking about.
  15. ....I'm still trying to figure out where you need to do more then 1800 DPS to be doing your job.
  16. I had allot of toons that went through the first transfer. All but one of them opened their boxes early. they all got their comms. my last one opened his box jsut last week at lvl 22, and his weren't in there. I submitted a ticket, and within a few days (perhaps a week), he got confirmation, and got his comms. he was 24 iirc at the time. SO here's a few points on this for people wondering: 1) if you went through the initial transfer, you should have them. 2) if the character was part of the last forced migration, you wont 3) doesn't matter what level you submit the ticket 4) you can't open the box till 20, so best to wait until then to know for sure. 5) make sure you don't submit a /bug ticket. they will only "report" the issue to the dev teams with a /bug ticket. open up a different ticket type. I used "loot" as a ticket option, and had no issues. not sure if different ticket categories work just s well.
  17. I agree. One, they made really bad decisions in the end game gear. It's the rare bird that actually likes the current Ops looks. Two, they locked customization into an expensive process that is also used to optimize stats. bad idea. the two should have been separate. Three, they had poor initial design for Op gear and the set bonuses ( which for most classes are big enhancements). they fixed this, but not at a level that your average player (who would probably be more interested in customization) can actually access that change. They need to completely rework that system. Sadly I don't see that happening.
  18. there isn't any real way to level on class only quests. the game wasn't designed for that. The op was asking if it was possible to finish all the class series at level 46. probably not doable on some class series simply due to mob difficulty. he just didn't want to have to grind Voss/Correllia...which i can understand. it gets somewhat tedious at that point. It would be real nice if you could though..I love the class storylines. too bad they don't have a "story only" option, where perhaps you could tailor the storyline to your level. but then it would cause havoc with the planets they are set on....too bad really. To OP: I'd follow kitty's idea. max your earned exp, and just start in early. if you unlock those legs as soon as your start the toon, I'll bet you will get to 50 and be able to skip quite a bit in the process (a.k.a avoid the Corellia grind...cool looking planet, but theire's something about trying to finish it that drives me crazy).
  19. Many of us aren't any more Liam. I don't hate the game, but bit by bit, they've communicated to us that our opinions don't matter, and that its perfectly viable to go against their word. As is stands now, they're absolutely NO Character copy on the PTR. most of us will barely get past level 15 or so. they should know by now that many high end players do not feel like leveling another character. Furthermore, the amount of 50's on the PTR that are still playing are probably allot smaller then it was in 1.2 or 1.3, so that means even less will be testing high end content. it's pretty clear that they do not care about our feedback, unless it's to show them huge bugs in the mechanics. and they're handling of the class story quests this last week leaves me to wonder if they would even bother correcting anything we actually tell them. On the flip side, it is the middle of the week, and school is in session. that will drastically cut down the population during the day anyways. so to give you hope, it will probably pick up some when late afternoon hits. but don't hold your breath. not many people are excited about this patch. it came across as very last minute, and very much an amalgamation of stuff to "keep the players going". I have a strong feeling that they are not putting much energy into patching until f2p is out. there was a time that I was hopefull that things were changing...it always seemed just over the hill. but my enthusiasm is quickley fading, and it dissapoints me a great deal. there were allot of things that I liked about the game, but it seems that EA or Bio do not really care to put in the energy they used to. This is an ex-fanboi talking, just so you don't think im some GW2 fotm game hopper. Im usually a one trick pony...i take a game and run with it for good or bad for years (did it with WoW, and did it with LotRO....and Aion....) but I just don't see things moving in a positive direction with the company. So why would i test a PTR that will impact me very little in game? the only thing I really care a great deal about is that FP's will actually send us back to where we were before....although ill laugh my kiester off if it goes into the game broke.
  20. Ahh...the old jaded "f2p =death" argument. Anyone who thinks that f2p means a game is dying hasnt been playing attention to the industry. by that logic, gw2 was released in a dying state. which is simply silly. The idea that f2p is a last resort is old conjecture at this point. I dont condemn people for following the status quo, but I do wish that they would really do their research first. theirs very few games atm thay can jeep up the sub mofel. f2p simply brings on more players anf more income with less overhead. Thats why compabies are using this model now. Heck...gw1 waa f2p from the get go. gw2 is continuing this trend. the biggest release of this year so far is....f2p. need I say more?
  21. Don't worry too much the real benefit of those purples are they often will be great for alt's.
  22. Slicing is definitely a viable gathering skill. It's the only source (atm) for augment schematics, as well as The materials for said augments. and also produces other schematics on crits as well. plus, you make a good deal of money on lockboxes you farm as you level. the downside is it isn't needed by any other companion skill. it's one of the only individual companion skills out there. So unless you have a dire need to farm lockboxes out in the open, I find its better on an alt. you can send them cash for the missions, and have them sending out companions in the background while you are playing on your main.
  23. I understand where most are coming from with the frustration. My Jugg is my main... been waiting since launch to see how they approach balancing my favorite class. And Im sure smugg/agents are in a similar boat. But one Pass? WoW almost completely redid their classes at least 2-3 times each. It never stopped people from griping (as well as giving constructive feedback mind you), and it never stopped the "balance" bandwagon. And people certainly didn't leave in "droves" either. Personally I shudder at the word balance now. it sounds good, but I've seen far too many MMO's destroy the nature of the individual classes for the sake of "balance" make sure all classes are effective is good. but we have to be careful of balance...but that's off the subject. I think so far they're doing a great job in response...those that feel like they are going to give Bio "one more chance" can certainly do so...those that leave because they are dissatisfied have that right. But I'm enjoying the game, and will continue to do so. And I highly doubt Bio will suddenly change the game just for those who feel that they can bully Bio into appeasing them.
