  1. No, and there shouldn't be. Report them, ignore them, and move on.
  2. As new announcements go into the rotation, old ones drop out. Just because there are still older announcements in there doesn't mean the site is "out of date." It just means it always has the last few updates. If someone wants to see what's happened recently, it's all there. That's a good thing.
  3. Yeah, you must have. Probably space barred through the end of it, too, or you'd have your answer. I don't want to post any spoilers, but you should have paid more attention to what was going on.
  4. At 50 there's no pop-up message, but you get the codex entries.
  5. Not calling Rift a failure, but at least some of this isn't true. Trion has not "posted a profit." They are a private company with no obligation to disclose their books, and they haven't. They've selectively disclosed some numbers, and because they are a private company they obviously can choose ones that look good for them without mentioning any that look bad. For example, I believe they mentioned they pulled in $100 million in revenues in 2011, but have mentioned nothing about development costs and other expenditures. Also, the fact that others have invested in them isn't any indication that they're successful... people do that for startups with no track record at all. So, no, you weren't stating facts at all, and the only indication we have that the game is "doing very well financially" are some press releases from company brass with almost no real data to back them up.
  6. Strange. I've had my relics on the right bar for a lot of levels, and they're still there. Not that I'm denying this happens, just wondering what circumstances cause it.
  7. I hope all the people who say stuff like "I want this kind of add-on, but not this one" realize they're asking for the impossible. Either Bioware provides an API or they don't. If there's an API, add-on writers get to do anything the API allows. There's no "you can write an add-on like this one, but not like this other one." That's not how they work. That's also the beautiful thing about add-ons. You provide the information (whether it's character stats, inventory, or stuff from the combat log), and people who want to improve the game use that information in whatever way they think will be useful. A good add-on API will provide a ton of useful information to do that with, and lets people who really care about a game do things the developers would never even think of, much less have time for. This whole "Bioware has to do it, or I'll go into a rage" attitude makes no sense to me at all. Let the players make changes. If they come up with good ideas, great. If we get some crap out of the deal, well, crap happens. The end result of an add-on API is that you multiply the number of developers who can work on the game many times over, and some really good things can come from that. On macros, all I have to say, really, is that the implementation is important. WoW's is actually really good, in that it forces players to make all their decisions for themselves. Rift's on the other hand, is awful because it actually makes decisions for the player. I'd love to see macros, personally, but only if they swing more the WoW direction than the Rift one, and don't trivialize gameplay.

  10. I love posts like this one. I'm a fanboy because I can do the math that figures out that $15 a month breaks down to 2 cents an hour? That's not a Bioware number and they're not paying me to do it; it's basic math. The OP says it's misinformation, but it's not, unless you think math is some kind of hoax. The reality here is that you pay $15 for a month of access, and everyone chooses not to use several of the hours in that month. Everyone pays the same per-hour rate; it's not a subjective number. You're still paying 2 cents an hour when you're at work, or when you're sleeping. You're not just paying for the hours you pay in a month -- you also pay for all the hours you don't. That's not fanboyism; that's reality. If being able to do simple division and recognize reality when I see it make me a fanboy, then I guess I'm guilty, and I'm damn proud of it.
  11. I think he was being sarcastic. The car analogy as an argument for what's wrong with this game doesn't work no matter what you do to it, but people keep whipping it out anyway.
  12. Well, it's pretty odd to think the price of your subscription has anything to do with your schedule. You pay $15 for a month of access, the same as everyone else. You're not getting some special, custom deal based on your personal leisure habits. It's possible you could play for the full 720 hours a month if you wanted to (given a few stimulants here and there, and a total disregard for your own health). You choose not to, but you're still subscribed during the times you're not playing. You've made a decision to do something else during those times you're paying 2 cents an hour for the game, but your subscription's still ticking. It still adds up (or, more accurately, divides up) to 2 cents an hour whether you're playing or not.
  13. That's pretty accurate, other than that last part. The universe would implode. But yeah, most patches also require client-side changes, and since the client's not locked to any particular region, that definitely complicates trying to update the servers in waves. You'd end up with a lot of people who got their client patched before their server maintenance even started, and they'd be really screwed. It's not an unfixable problem, but it's a problem.
  14. It *could* easily be four hours more... but it hasn't been. The OP also definitely overstated how long the standard maintenance takes, too. His numbers are already higher than the actual downtimes have been without you adding more hours that haven't happened.
  15. Like who? The only times I've ever seen an MMO compensate people was after obscene amounts of downtime... which this game has not had. It's not unusual for other games (like the biggest one on the market) to have scheduled maintenances that not only regularly run over the initial estimate, but last longer than all the downtime this game has had in the last few weeks put together. Do they compensate for those? No, never.

  17. The math isn't faulty. You're still subscribed when you're doing other things; you're just not using it.
  18. So the subscription cost is based on how much you personally play? That makes all kinds of sense. You said it yourself: You don't pay hourly. You pay monthly. We all do. You decide when to use it, but it's $15 a month even if you never log in. It's pretty easy to break that down to an hourly rate. Simple math is not "misinformation." Incidentally, tonight's was worth 3 cents.
  19. Monetary value of tonight's downtime: $0.03 US. Those requesting compensation are requested to email Bioware directly. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for penny delivery.
  20. Problem #2: What incentive do people who aren't paying have to report bugs? At least paying customers have an interest in improving the game.
  21. Each downtime totals approximately a nickel of your subscription. Just a little perspective.
  22. Quit trolling. It still says the servers will be back up at 6:00CST, which is four hours after the 2:00CST start time.
  23. There is no feature like the one you're asking for. At least not yet. You need to do it in the other order: target first, then heal.
  24. First off, the people running the game aren't in Canada. Second, Canada has a west coast, too. It's just north of the west coast of the U.S.
  25. Because it's the time the lowest number of people are playing.
