  1. I have to assume anyone who looked at their list of things they could start up a thread to complain about, and picked one datacron on Tatooine, must really be enjoying the game. Congrats!
  2. You can't expect the kind of support for a test server that you'd get with a live one. It's for testing. Sure, community's great, but it is a testing server.
  3. Some people love to complain, and are willing to pay a subscription to do it. Just think of it as a different playstyle. Personally, I think you've got to be pretty special to go down a list like that and just brush everything off as meaningless, but then I'm not one of those people who'd still complain if it was gold-plated and fed me grapes in a skimpy little slave outfit. I am, however, prone to abusing metaphors.
  4. You're right. It makes no sense. Probably because it's unreadable and you'll go blind trying.
  5. There are probably millions of off-topic forums out there. Go nuts. Like it or not, Bioware and TOR are the center of the universe here.
  6. While the rest of what you said may be true, this most definitely is not.
  7. There are several problems with this statement: First, you got the crystal you were promised already. Second, you didn't pay for it: pre-ordering didn't cost you a dime, much less $160. Third, this is a different crystal; it just happens to be the same color as one you already got. Do you think if you get the lowest-level blue crystal you're automatically entitled to every blue crystal that exists in the game? Get over the entitlement complex. You already got the crystal you're screaming that you paid for, even though you got it for free.
  8. Just because new FTP games are launching says nothing about what'll happen with pay-to-play games. It's like suggesting that because a lot of games are launching on Facebook, that it must mean this is going to turn into a Facebook game. Both positions are absurd. The market for subscription games isn't shrinking. New ones still launch (for proof, see http://swtor.com). Just because people are launching more free-to-play games doesn't mean, in any way, that pay-to-play is dead.
  9. Notice how it's quite likely he's saying the vendors, rather than the crystals, will only be available temporarily.
  10. Not only that, but the guy posts "have you ever seen an Apple product on sale" as if they haven't had some products that absolutely tanked. Someone needs a firmer grip on reality. Yes, Apple products go on sale frequently at verious retailers, and no, they're not all goldmines. Some of them flop. Claiming otherwise just shows someone's got no clue at all what he's babbling about.
  11. Are there people who honestly don't get the idea of a loss leader? A lot of companies do this: Mark down a popular item in order to get people to shop with you, in the hopes that they'll also buy other items. Every major retailer does this, and does it regularly. Anyone who takes this as a sign that TOR is in trouble just doesn't have a clue how retail marketing works.
  12. Nowhere has anyone from Bioware ever said this. The quote people use to back this up said something like "we'll give you tools to judge your performance." It did not say those tools would only be useful for looking at your own numbers; that's just a bit of wishful thinking. Personally, a big part of judging my performance relies on being able to match it up against the numbers from other players. In any case, the post you're referring to just doesn't say what you think it does. I now a lot of people believe what you do, but it the decision you're claiming was made never was.
  13. "SQL" is also not a type of database. It's a query language. And I agree with your sentiment. Who cares if the data doesn't come from Bioware directly? It's still helpful in figuring out where to go. Estimates are obviously better than nothing.
  14. You're a little late. And an Amazon sale isn't a sign of anything but an Amazon sale.
  15. There is a certain irony in your coming to the forums to complain about this.
  16. I doubt it's split 50/50. I'd guess far more people think it's too easy than think it's too hard... 'cuz it's really easy. If you're two levels below where you should be, you're intentionally skipping a lot of content. If you do that, you should expect it to be hard.
  17. If they made new servers for every feature someone suggests this for, we'd have thousands of servers with a handful of people each. I'm all for add-ons, but "Set up separate servers: the ones with option X that I want and the ones without it" is never going to be an option.
  18. You know, I can understand a lot of the complaints and criticism about this game, but this is just maddening to me. I've received a handful of these emails since launch -- far, far less than any other MMO I've ever played, most of which were much smaller. I'm not disappointed at all with that. I'm actually hugely impressed at what a non-issue this has been, considering the profile and userbase for this game. Whatever they've been doing to curb this stuff, Bioware's been doing an incredible job.
  19. Your math needs work. They've already made that on box sales alone, without even counting subscriptions.
  20. Dual-spec is not "unfair" to anyone. It's a feature you can use or not. Sure, it's not as useful to a full-time PVE pure-DPS class as some others, but it's silly to call that "unfair." It almost sounds like you're expecting some compensation if a feature is added that other people will use more than you do, and that's just silly. It's not unfair that you were given an option to play a pure DPS class, and took it. That was your decision.
  21. This thread again? It's an MMO. If you're on a low-population server, you won't see as many people on a high-population server. People tend to level alone. The game isn't totally centered around PVP. None of those are specific to this game. It's certainly an MMO; there's no disputing that (unless, of course, you just don't know what an MMO is, in which case it's a pretty pointless argument to have).
  22. So, because of a lack of a piddling little +5 bonus, you think everything should be homogonized? It's a very minor bonus, and not really worth worrying about -- certainly not to the extent that you seem to be, anyway. I suspect very, very few people feel "pigeon-holed" into some specific crafting skill because of that tiny little bonus. You also use the word "forced," which is just laughably over-the-top. This is like OCD levels of min/maxing here.
  23. Link or I don't buy it. You're either leaving out the important parts, or it didn't happen. If you're saying it's flaming to say you have no issues, well, some people really don't. No need to get all worked up over that. But anyway, it's not like it's news that the engine needs some love. I have a hard time believing anyone would ever get flamed just for saying that.
