  1. I see..thanks for the info, I can understand why so many people roll Carnage now...how does the skill tree of that look? I see a lot of skills on there I may use, but am not sure exactly...something like this perhaps? http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100bcMZGhbRRrRrbIoZc.3 Also, do you know how annihilation fares compared to carnage? just want to keep my options open, but definitely looks like carnage will be my thing for a while
  2. I PvP quite a bit, my first goal with new characters is to PvP them up until level=valor, and doing so usually gets to me to around 13 or 14. I then move on to do story missions, usually doing pvp again whenever possible. I'd say its a 50/50 split roughly, so something that is good in PvP as well as good enough in PvE would be great. IIRC, SWs get their healers early on Balmora, the second planet (i think?) so I guess survivability isn't an issue there but something that works for both would be good. I used to have a sentinel on an old server, and i think he was the jedi equivalent of annihilation with all the burns. I would burn people to the ground with him while also getting heals off with some skill (can't recall name). Don't know if thats still the best build, since i have no clue how carnage works (rage=smash ik from my JK).
  3. Thanks, this was a massive help ...actually know what I'm doing now lol
  4. Recently decided to make a new marauder since i have a guardian, and was looking for advice on builds. I remember Carnage being the standard before but have no clue on skill allocations for the trees. Any help here is appreciated, please and thank you!
  5. anyone know when this is supposed to hit the public servers?
  6. It's a good thing I just shelled out to transfer my old GS from my old server...now I'll have a couple of extra CCs to get a matching gun for him! Anyone know the price of it and if we can buy it directly from the market?
  7. I recently decided to get back into SWTOR, and last I played was around the time of Patch 2.0, possibly a bit afterwards. My skill points on my guardian got reset, so I was inquiring into a new build. Before I believe he was a Vigilance Guardian, but honestly I can't remember what his points were invested into. Is that still a good build for him now? I mostly just PvP and am finishing up story content, but I do plan to do end game FPs in the future (on a side note, does that now start at 50 or 55?). If anyone could suggest a good build for me now as well as possibly end game wise, that would be greeeat (a la Bill from Office Space). Thanks all, feels good to be back!
  8. As title states, post 2.0, what is better for DPS guardian who does PvP/PvE half and half? I've noticed Focus seems to crazy good for PvP but don't know how good in PvE, while Vigilance is fairly good in both aspects. Thanks!
  9. Without giving anything away as best I can Act 1: Destroy super weapons, save the galaxy once. Act 2: Attempt to take down the Sith, fail miserably. Act 3: Stop the Sith before they destroy the galaxy, succeed in the end. Essentially, its KOTOR 3 in MMO form. Personality, he (or she) is a Jedi-the champions of the galaxy and freedom and all that. LS is basically follow the Jedi code, and enemies who don't die in combat are always given a chance to run or you can spare them so they can run or eventually help later at some point. DS is more renegade like (speculation, I myself am a LS Jedi) and you tend to want to exploit your enemies to gather info, then kill/torture them (usually just straight up kill them) and watch the council b**** about what you just did. DS is somewhat interesting, but to me seems like a Jedi/Sith hybrid that happens to be a Jedi. Example of DS: Defeat an enemy and then talk to him Enemy: alright, you win, here is the info you need, please let me go! You: thanks pal [kill them]. Example of LS: Defeat an enemy and then talk to him Enemy: alright, you win, here is the info you need, please let me go! You: okay, you're free to go, just don't let me catch you again! Hope that gave you some insight into the world of the Jedi Knight!
  10. Currently my Guardian is 43 and the Vigilance build I have so far is this (in live servers): http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500MzZfRMRMuddhR.2 I've messed around a bit in the PTS and have been happy with the results in PvP (considering he got owned because of gearing issues, but was able to take down some better geared people) but no word yet on PvE/group content just because I can't seem to find a group since I get on so late. Will Vigilance help me get from 43 to 50 (and eventually 55) while I finish my story and such? and I'm assuming Doc is the way to go for solo content?
  11. Currently my Guardian is my Tank, but I may switch to DPS. Are they generally accepted into end game groups as DPS? Especially towards the beginnings of the post 50 end game content when you just have basic gear? I know as Tanks I have less of an issue there but as a DPS idk. Any insight here?
  12. With 2.0 on the way, I've been wondering- is Vigilance a good idea now with some of the buffs I've been hearing about? I tried it once now and I died almost instantly (before I had Doc but still) but whatever I attacked went down super fast. I was wondering if anyone on the PTS could give me some insight here (mines still downloading) that would be great! Thanks!
  13. Friends of mine have been telling me a great way to make some credits is to run dailies in areas like BH, Belsavis, Ilum, etc. Problem is, I honestly have no clue where to go. BH is easy enough to do, but don't seem to be rolling in credits by doing just that. Could someone be kind enough to link me a guide to dailies and how to get it all started? I'd love to have some more creds so I can give my alts better stuff and actually have enough for repairs and skills. Also, are there any costs to doing them credit wise, besides planet/travel/repair costs? I'm quite low on creds atm so I'd like to be able to do the dailies cheaply until I can get some more creds. If someone could link me a guide to dailies, or tell me how to do them/get it started, that would be very appreciated! Note: I will be doing them on my 50 Balance Sage until I get my Guardian to 50, and will also be doing them on him if it makes a difference. Also, on an unrelated note, once I unlock HK on one character, how do I get him to be able to be used on other characters? It would be awesome if I could get to use him on my lowbie alts and face melt everything. Thanks!
  14. I personally like the Smuggler's ship, just because it reminds me of the Falcon. Never actually been inside IA ship (currently working on that) so I can't comment there, the JK/JC ship is very simple and nice, the BH ship exterior looks like crap (inside is alright) and SW/SI ship is classic Imperial.
  15. Is it better to go LS or DS as a Trooper? I've heard DS is more like by the books or something, while LS is saving as many as you can while killing as few as needed. Which alignment makes more sense overall in the story? Which one is more interesting? Which gives the best experience as a Trooper? Thanks!
  16. Cool, thanks for the info....just 10 more levels to go!
  17. OK so I just finished Chapter 2 on my JK, and started Chapter 3 (as in just got to chapter 3, and not actually begun on Belsavis). Kira (who is at max 10k/10k affection) had a conversation which ended... So, am I done? I haven't gotten the Legacy perk thing that unlocks and gives some random stats based on the companion (like I had for Nadia Grell on my Sage, which IIRC I unlocked before 50). Or is there more to come within the next few planets? Thanks!
  18. Its the reason I'm still playing my JK. I thought about quitting once or twice, looked at the armor, and kept going. True Jedi robes in my opinion!
  19. OK so my Guardian has been a Vig/Defense hybrid since I started. I've noticed a good number of people, both pre-50 and post-50 run as what seems to be a primarily Vig spec. I was wondering the viability of this. I am a guy who does roughly 50/50 with PvE(FPs+World missions+Class missions) and PvP. My current build allows me a good deal of survivability, but taking mobs down takes a bit of time an elite or strong are involved. In PvP, I can survive so long as I'm not being mobbed by the entire enemy team, but can't really solo anyone (which is totally fine, because as a Guardian, that's not what I signed up for! If I did, I'd be a Sentinel, and this post would not exist). I was looking into some Vig specs, and after messing around a bit, I came up with this: Pure Vig: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500MMZfrMRRhddhRZG.2 How well/much better would this work versus my current spec, which is this: Vig/Defense Hybrid: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500RMGbdzZfGMMMhzdZM.2 Would like some opinions for any who have tried similar builds (dealing with pure Vigilance) and how well you guys do in PvP and PvE. Also, for end game raids/ranked PvP, do people prefer Tanking Guardians or DPS ones more? I enjoy tanking, but I'd like to get to 50 before I go all out tanking (for group content). Solo content wise (Planets+Planet Heroics+PvP), would it be better to go for Vig for now (at least till 50) then switch, or just keep what I'm doing now? I've found groups in group finder much easier as a tank, but I think I can manage since I don't do very many FPs. Thanks!
  20. I recently returned to SWTOR and heard about HK-51 as a new post-story companion. However, I don't know how to start the quest line to get him. I have a 50 Sage, and am in the process of getting my JK to 50 (31 currently) but on my Sage I have not found a quest to get him. How exactly do you start to quest line to obtain him? Thanks!
  21. I for one was very content. This was only because that when I re subbed, I got 1450 Cartel Coins for resubbing bonus, and used it to buy those robes, so I didn't have to spend anything outside my sub fee (which I would pay anyways) and got free robes, so unlike most, I am happy!
  22. I am a pure LS Jedi, did not choose the flirt option, and I had around 5k-6k ish affection (probably more but roughly that) and i saw the option to kiss her at the same point you did, which I did. I have not recieved any option with her yet, at around 8k affection, but I assume once I finish Ch. 1 I will be able to get more options.
  23. I think somewhere in the middle of the first two is where I would fall. Honorable in that, I'm trying to benefit the Empire while, at the same time, trying to make sure the Republic survives and maybe applying some Republic ideology to the Empire...I'm hoping to end up at around LS III-ish, maybe LS IV....but I guess I'll see what happens.
  24. I'm working on the yogurt right now! Thanks for the reply, and I will take your advice into note...I'm planning on making him a "Sith hater" as in no boot licking or any of that. I'm assuming with the SIS agents, I'll know them when I see them so I know who to keep alive and who to (possibly) kill. Also, do you have any recommendations build wise? I'm planning on pretty much pure MM with some skills from other two trees (increased cunning, lower CD on grenade/flash, etc.).
  25. First of all, sorry if I sound like I'm rambling and sorry for the long post. I have put a summary at the bottom. I'm planning on making an IA, mainly to acquire the buff but also because I had a smuggler on my old server so I've seen that story (most of it anyways) and I've heard nothing but good things about the IA's story from friends and from people in game/on forums. I will be making a Sniper and gearing him up pretty well (well, as well as I can given my resources). My main concern is from the story perspective. I am mostly a light side guy (even my BH is LS just because I like the whole "Honorable Mandolarian" thing). I've heard the LS IA is more like "For the Empire, but in a good, clean and honorable way (somewhat like Watcher 1 from JK class quests, and those of you who know him know what I mean). I want to go primarily LS (disregarding Kaliyo, I don't like her anyways) but want to know this: Is it better to go LS with a few DS choices as is necessary (someone needs to die for greater good, stuff like that) or just pure LS/pure DS? I'm really leaning on primarily LS with some DS mixed in to change things up, unless pure LS/DS is better. Any opinions on this matter (and please, try to keep it as spoiler free as possible!) regarding the story, decisions, etc. Side note: For those of you who have seen the show Burn Notice, I wanted to try and model my IA after Michael Westen, but with some more DS thrown in. If that helps give a better picture, and allow you to give a better opinion, it would help me greatly! Also, I plan on going up the MM tree (as I did on my Smuggler with his equivalent SS tree) but beyond that I have little idea what to do. Any help with builds would be nice, but I plan on researching for myself as well. TL;DR Want to make IA Sniper. Want to know if LS Story with some DS mixed is good, or better pure LS/DS. Personal (spoiler free) opinions welcome!
