  1. Shadow tanks don't have high DPS. They just have better DPS then other tanks, but they can't tank as well as Guardian/Juggernaut. I play both a Shadow and a Guardian. I actually changed back to Infiltration after I did a few matches where I could not kill anything being healed. I just couldn't widdle down the HP fast enough. The Self healing is great on Kinetic Combat, though. It helped me stand toe-to-toe with many classes, especially if I had a healer nearby. I actually think a good idea to beef up Infiltration and balance Kinetic combat is to remove self-healing on KC and put it on Infiltration. Then maybe increase the DPS a tad on KC. That would help survivability on Infiltration Tree, and in the end reduce survivability on KC a little more. But this would require testing and I obviously don't have access to that on this game without mods.
  2. This is probably the best way to do this.
  3. QFT. I can't wait for GW2 to come out and see all the raging disappointment. Am I the only one that sees this pattern with every MMO launch? There are a ton of people who say this game will be the messiah. The WoW killer so to speak. Then it launches and everyone is spouting its imminent doom. Let me put it into perspective for all the haters. Yes, they are haters. Anyone who says SWTOR will die is a hater. Here's the truth. FFXIV is probably the most disastrous MMO launch and post launch. It's still alive and kicking. If THAT game can survive with its undoubtedly huge budget, so can SWTOR. And even that, the 1.3Million current subscribers is NOTHING to scoff at. I suspect that those subs will drop further. And even if the game tapers off at <1 Million it doesn't matter. The game will still trek on.
  4. I was thinking of a sort of epic operation or Flashpoint. Have a typical Star Wars zone where your partners have to do a space mission, a ground mission, and a duel. Nearly all the star wars movies have this, why not SWTOR? Also, a previous poster said something about PVE Warzone where you have to kill a rancor or something. My first MMO was FFXI and they had these things called BCNMs. Usually they were a small enclosed match against an epic enemy and the loot was great. We used to do it for cash in that game. One match had these 8 slimes that were relatively weak, but were slowly converging in the center. When they reached the center they would merge into a "queen slime" which would be super powerful and difficult to kill. So the idea was to kill all 8 before they reached the center. It was actually pretty fun.
  5. I read 3 posts... 3... before I gave up and decided to reply. QUIT LOOKING AT THE BLASTED NUMBERS PEOPLE! Oh, let's look at Objective points, damage, healing. BLAH. Why don't we vote for people who actually do an all around good job? Communicating with the team, coordinating attacks with others, ensuring they do their part to win. It's not about individual stats like healing, damage, or objective. They are all 3 an important role... it's a tetrahedron.. without one the others cannot survive. But since a healer can't be a damage dealer, or a damage dealer a healer, give it to the person who did their best and impressed you doing it. It's not hard. I do it nearly every match. If no one impressed me no one gets the vote. Simple as that. I won time gave a person my MVP vote in Voidstar simply because she did Force Wave on a bridge and killed EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE TEAM. It was cool, made many people on my team laugh and probably won us the match since it was difficult for them to recoordinate after that. But when they had 8 members crossing a bridge towards three people, they were bound to get the door.
  6. Oh yeah... because GW2 is the God of MMOs... /sarcasm I can't wait for the next big MMO to come out and disappoint everyone else. It's what happens. MMOs get hyped up, launch and the same cycle occurs again. People hate the endgame content, the PVP, the PVE, the balance, yada yada yada. BTW, the OP is a troll. What's the point of this thread? Nothing. Someone close it down. Where's the Overzealous Bioware moderators when we nead them?
  7. The other thing too is that people keep saying "JUST GET BETTER". It really helps people get better when they can have a fair chance at getting their gear. This isn't about giving the losing team a win. This is about giving the losing side a chance to get better. It takes two things to get good at pvp. First and foremost is skill. But guess what? Skill is obtainable. Everyone can be just as good at their class as anyone else. This isn't sports where one person is more athletic than the other. We can all push the buttons as fast as anyone else. It takes time and practice to get better. But it also takes gear. The path to war hero gear is a long one. A fresh 50 will suck, I've been there I know. But along the way to getting good gear they get better, while also supplementing that with good gear. It takes losses AND wins to get better at both skill and gear.
  8. The game should be about winning, I agree. But this post explains my opinion. This is a game and I should have fun. Getting zero comms and valor for working my butt off is not fun or a game. But you know what? The game was always about winning for me and will still be. I love to win in pvp. It feels great to have a great match. But I've played losing matches that were amazing too. I should walk away feeling like it sucks that I lost but it's not a complete waste of my time.
  9. Can I make an ops group to do regular pve, fps, etc...? If so that would solve my problem. How does it work?
  10. We are wanting to do a family static with these characters. As in we only level up with eachother.
  11. I don't think they have to up difficulty. For example, my 5 man group can just skip ahead a little.
  12. I am loving this game. I've played many MMOs that are in no way similar to WoW. It seems to me the most vocal crowd in this game came from WoW and expect it to have the 7+ years of content. I'm all for constructive criticism for this game, it will help improve it. But the MMO crowd is a pessimistic one and I don't believe we'll ever have an MMO that grows massively. Once WoW dies (not saying it will be soon) I don't see those 8-10 million subscribers land on any one game. I've played many MMOs close or at launch and this one does so many things right. It has issues, yes. But issues that take time to fix. At least it has fixed things most other MMOs don't at launch. Including issues WoW had at launch.
  13. Not sure if I'm in the right place to post this. I play with my family and lately it's just been 4 of us but in a few weeks the 5th person will have a lighter schedule due to school being out. It's going to be a bit of a pain for us. We'll have to split into two groups. I wish the party size was like 6 people instead of 4. Can you have more then 4 in flash points? What does the community say?
  14. I'm playing a Guardian with my family. Typically we are PVE based. Right now I'm an off tank, I'm letting my mom be main tank until we get up to the same level as her sage then she's switching. At that point I will be main tank. So I need the beefiest tank spec possible. Any ideas? Also, any good DPS specs? Thanks!
  15. If you want, I have a small friendly guild on Belgath's Beacon. We are a bunch of friends from previous MMOs and don't mind new players. I play with my family Tues/Thursday nights (starts about 6:30PM Mountain time) so you'll see me on there. My main is called Bewoulf, alt I play with my family is called Bausch. We play Republic, but I have alts on Empire. Guildmaster is Shadowtrooper. Here's a guild website for you. http://www.wookieetangofoxtrot.com/ Happy Hunting!
  16. I myself have been trying to find more info on Jedi Knight. It doesn't seem as laid out in detail like my main (shadow) on the forums here. Suffice to say, Sent is pretty much nothing but DPS. Guardian is tank with some DPS trees in there. So at this point are you doing to be DPS or tank? Tank go with Guardian, DPS you can choose between the two. Want one or two lightsabers? Guardian wields 1 and Sent wields 2. That's about all I know myself. Sorry it's not much help. Maybe post this (or have a moderator move) to the Jedi Knight section. You'll probably get more help from knowledgable people there.
  17. They removed the armaments daily? Seriously? I had no idea, I just barely turned in my pre 1.2 today. That is stupid and i agree. We need two dailies not just one.
  18. Now I feel really stupid. I wonder how come I've never noticed. I've played rounds that went lightning fast too.
  19. I can't read this. . <-----See this? It's called a Period, or a "Stop". It is your FRIEND, not the ENEMY.
  20. By Participation daily, you mean just playing PVP? Yeah, I've been 50 since Feb... never seen that PVP daily. Just the 3 victories and 30 armaments.
  21. Oh, and I thought the reduced time in round 2 was a new change? Maybe I'm just being dumb but I thought both rounds were of equal time?
  22. This is what I mean. It seems to me that when a winning team gets a winning streak it stays. /shrug... people may hate this idea but I think if one team totally burns through the match then that EXTRA time should be added to round 2. But even as I type that I can already tell people would hate it only for the fact that it would make the match a lot longer. But I'm all about making non-huttball matches last because huttball is 85% of all my PVP matches and I may have only won 5 out of the countless matches I've played. Republic players on my server can't seem to get huttball, neither can I. Voidstar was always my favorite.
  23. QFT. I played lots of WZs today and I could tell from the first 10 seconds of the match if we were going to win or not. You could tell when team members just didn't have their heart in it. That and you get this constant stream of players entering and leaving the WZ. They always say that the empire is overpowered. No. It seems to me they are just more coordinated.
  24. I don't like that they reduced the round 2 time if Round 1 went by quick. I actually liked Voidstar the way it was. Some of my favorite Voidstar matches have been when we failed utterly to defend, but then came around and won round 2. It happens. Sometimes matches that aren't pre-made are setup to defend or attack better. Even in a losing match, I loved to stop worrying about getting objectives (knowing we were going to lose) and just having a deathmatch. Helped in gathering medals. As it stands now, if the first match goes by fast you likely don't have a lot of medals and probably won't earn much in round 2. What are other people's thoughts? On the whole, I do like the changes to PVP. People complaining about BW increasing the grind for gear, I disagree with. I'm starting to collect BM stuff which I figured I wasn't going to be able to do for a while pre-1.2. And the new WZ is a blast. Had some good matches there.
