  1. I have to concur with this. Endurance is abundant on my shadow without even trying. So I try to focus on the other stats that are harder to get. But because of that I think what eldispar meant was the highest stats. In even going for mainly the other stats endurance is still around second highest. Unless I'm doing it wrong.
  2. Ah I see. It's in kinetic combat. I may have to try kinetic.
  3. I'm loving the stealth burst damage deals. It seems that burst damage out of stealth was what they wanted with shadow respite, but nothing else is really there. I also think that perhaps with shadow respite there should be an ability where shadow strike force cost is reduced by 50% while in stealth and not later when the ability pops up. I was playing today and was annoyed that I have like a 5 second window to stun my mob to get a shadow strike off. It should be activated in stealth so that I can open with a shadow strike because once you start fighting it's difficult to get a shadow strike off.
  4. THANK YOU!! Lingo I understand! I actually loved the level cap increase, but all my friends and family (all from FFXI) came to this game and an MMO is better with friends and family. I am really loving this game. I love star wars and the WoW-type accessibility makes it easy for me to play whereas FFXI was a huge time sink. I'm especially loving shadow. So I'm going to have something similar to what was posted by jedifather above. Mostly infiltration with a few points in the other trees. All this forum lurking and posts is really opening up my eyes. I really like the play style in Infiltration, I just now have to master it. Thanks for the replies everyone.
  5. I know of a force push being that one AoE ability to knock surrounding enemies back but again that's a push not pull.
  6. Here's my one question, maybe you just have this in the wrong order but... If the sith are believed dead BEFORE darth bane enacts the rule of two, why do Mace windu and Yoda know so much about it?
  7. Yes, but WoW fails in a number of areas but because it's the big successful one (and often the only one anyone ever plays) people don't look at its failures. However, I played many MMO before and after WoW and I can tell you a lot of things in WoW frustrated me. Lack of a fluid story was one of them.
  8. Hi all, I don't believe this game is a WoW clone, I feel like it was a natural evolution. I'm loving the game so far, but I'm not a WoW player. I only played up until level 19 in WoW. I played in other MMOs. Some of those MMOs have done thing better than WoW (it's true, sorry WoW fans). I think Bioware did a smart move by emulating some of the successes WoW has done. But take the amazing CS and story that Bioware has added into this game. WoW players are freaking out! It has CS'! An Epic story! OMG! FFXI was doing that before WoW (though SWTOR has done a better job than even FFXI did). That's a perfect example that I think Bioware should do. Replicate WoW's successes, and bring in some successes from other MMOs that maybe WoW was weak on and everyone else didn't realize it?. Because so far everyone who is critical of this game is critical in what WoW has done better after 7 years of updates and expansions and yet WoW is still weak compared to other MMOs in a NUMBER of areas. Leave your suggestions in this thread! (sorry if it's been done before) My experience with MMOs was in FFXI, I love that game even to this day. Here's my suggestions. 1.) leave a natural place that's MINE to log off in. So SWTOR does the whole cantina resting thing just like WoW. However, how does that make sense from a story/chracter stand point? I have a ship with my personal items, my crew who has become my family, and my own room. Why can't I log off in my ship and still be rested? FFXI did this with the Mog house (though without the "rested" state unfortunately) 2.) Job system. So I realize this cannot be done in a game like SWTOR. It would be a giant mess and even I can recognize that. However, what if I wanted to play sage a little bit? I think they should allow us to switch our advance classes, though at a cost. Perhaps it can only be done once-a-month? Or you have to complete some quest to do so (unlearn what you have learn so to speak). What are your suggestions? Keep in mind, they have a lot of work to do that I'm SURE will get done. Improved social abilities such as a quest finder, etc... but what can bioware do uniquely from WoW that maybe other MMOs have been doing for years before WoW?
  9. I won't be able to use combat or force technique at all? I thought the update was that you can't change them willy-nilly in battle?
  10. I do like Upheaval but I can see where with some experimentation there might be something better. The bad thing about project is how much force it takes down. I have seen high damage with the near 50% chance of two projects hitting your opponent. But after reading a few posts, if you play smart you can basically cause all this damage without using hardly any force power, and what force power you use is made up really fast by shadow Respite. So yeah, I'll probably be trying a few different strategies. I want to do high DPS. I don't want to be the softest target ever, but I am not really interested in being a full on tank either.
  11. Hello, I'm not a WoW player, I'm new to skill trees. I played FFXI as my MMO of choice and skill trees scare me. In FFXI your abilities and spells are handed to you by level. When you gain a new spell or ability in FFXI it's a huge deal, it's almost overpowering. When I see posts about skill trees none of it makes sense because the abilities on skill trees are fairly minor compared to a new ability in FFXI. Most of the skills I see are small things like a -7.5 seconds on a 2 minute cool down. How is that even remotely helpful? So my question is how should I play? I mostly want to do DPS, but I dabble in PVP and play PVE. I don't understand all this stuff, so I'm trying to learn. I read the jedi shadow guide on the sticky, and I am currently playing the Infiltration spec that looks like this. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601MZhGMRkhMrtzZf0c.1 With the new update that everyone is up in arms about, I'm not sure what is changing. A lot of people are freaking out on the forums about it and I don't understand because these minor changes to an already minor upgrade system will barely change your character. Oh and I'm only level 34 as of yet. I don't think I'm playing too badly, I manage to kill a few sith while I'm out and about questing. But I feel more like I'm just smashing my keys rather than playing smart.
  12. Forgive me, as I've only read the first post. But I'm not getting that at all. I play republic side (why do so many people want to play as a loser sith?) and even when we lose PVP my ops team is talking, coordinating, planning, etc... I'm having more fun playing with strangers than in any MMO yet. Maybe create multiple characters on both sides and see if you get something different.
  13. I'm more quest/story. The story in an MMO isn't really so deep that I have to keep playing though. Let's just say I come for the story and stay for everything else, PVP, flashpoints, it's all fun. But for me, I only have fun playing MMOs with my friends. As much as this game is such a blast for me, if it weren't for them I'd be playing something else.
  14. THIS I had to have someone explain it to me in my guild. This is good, because I was worried the only missions you could do was the ones on your grade.
  15. Yeah, that actually sounds like a good idea for the game. MMOs should cater to the people that have less time to play by not making the game easier but by making things more accessible. But hey, just because it's not made yet doesn't mean it won't be made later. Software takes time to code, test, etc... if it helps you get through pharmacy school (my brother is a pharmacist so I know how much work it requires) you can always cancel your sub until more time accessible systems are in place. This game has been successful and despite haters, it will continue to be so. The game will still be here once you're done with pharmacy school.
  16. Thanks for the reply, that's kind of disappointing. Hopefully more quick play content is added. The other day I had this pull to come play SWTOR but since the only thing I had to do was come on and quest (which can take 2+ hours) I decided to do something else with my spare 1 hour of time. I'm doing slicing right now with Artifice and Archaeology. I kind of wanted to make my own sabers, but maybe I should do as you suggested instead. I could just always go farm enemies and get XP for 30 minutes since the drops at my area are actually netting around 300-800 for about 30 minutes worth of kills. Ontop of slicing I could make good money and mild XP doing that. Thanks for the reply, I think I talked myself through my own soluction with your help
  17. I'm on Belgoth's Beacon. I'm with a guild of friends from Final Fantasy XI when we migrated over to this game. Most of us are rl friends, but we welcome any player. It's a nice atmosphere, we don't have anything set up like weekly ops or anything like that yet. But there's a great mix of low to high level characters that you are able to party up with other members of the guild. I really like it so far, it was great to see most of my friends from FFXI because they all left years ago. We're at http://www.wookieetangofoxtrot.com my name is Bewoulf, leader is Shadowtrooper, there's also Cecill and Mightdie as officers. Hope to see you in the game!
  18. So, I'm not a PVPer in MMOs. I played FFXI which had a very tiny PVP presence. they had a game similar to hutt ball. We played once on my LS (Linkshell AKA Guild) and that was it. So I decided that I'd give PVP a shot on this game. Needless to say, I'm not very good. I'm level 25 and seem to always play with nothing but 50's (can't wait for that patch). We were playing the match where you have to plant bombs. I got home from work, I'm tired and forgot the name. Warzone? lol Anyway. Everyone was battling it out on the western door. I saw a team mate in stealth hovering by the east door guarded by one sith. I'm a Jedi shadow so I hit the force stun and my team mate, without missing a beat ran for the door to plant the bomb. This was a level 50 so I wasn't about to fight them. As soon as stun wore off I had force lift already going. Mid-way through the lift the bomb was planted and we kept them busy until the bomb exploded. We still lost that attacking round, but I was seconds from the computer and no imps were near me at all. I thought it was a great team effort between me and the other player, without even communicating our intentions we acted out this perfect play. It was satisfying to say the least and will play much more PVP. That was my noteworthy accomplishment. Despite losing, we played a very satisfying match. I'll not forget it anytime soon.
  19. Hey everyone, I'm still pretty new to this game. I love it so far! I'm not a WoW vet like a lot of people. I played mostly Final Fantasy XI, but I played up until level 19 on WoW, so this game was familiar to me. But I have a question and I hope I posted it in the right area. Where's a good place to just gather? Let me explain. In WoW I remember being low level like 5-10 and I'd go to this one mine in the middle of the zone and just fight the mobs there, get their drops and mine spots inside the tunnel. It would get me decent XP but my main objective was to just play for a quick 20-30 minutes to mainly make money and have a presence on the AH. I was playing this game and was thinking something was missing for me and I think this is it. Other MMOs I felt more like I wanted to play them because even when I wasn't questing, there was something to do. I love the idea of making my companions craft but it gets boring if I'm just sitting there and sending them out every few minutes. How do I do some of these gathering? I realize there's spots in the field that you can gather from, but they are kind of spaced distantly from eachother. Anyone have any good tips if I'm making any sense? In Final Fantasy XI I used to mine spots in Palborough mines. Sometimes I don't have the time to do the full on quest mode, sometimes I just want to gather and make money lol so what am I missing?
