  1. Removing the (admittedly trivial) cost for visiting certain strongholds would be helpful, too. A lot of roleplayers hold events in strongholds, and the in-character location is often not the same planet as the stronghold name. The game has too many faction-based restrictions on mechanics RPers use. Tells being the most egregious example.
  2. I know this is a bit of a necropost, but this bug is still in effect, and has been for over a year. It is impossible to see who is currently in a chat channel (even on initial login). The /list command is still there; if I do /list blargle I get: "You are not a member of the "blargle" channel." But if I list a channel I'm a member of, I get nothing. What's up with this issue?
  3. Interactive storytelling. Check out http://begerencolony.org/ There's a lot going on that you won't see if you're just hanging around fleet.
  4. Yup. This issue is related to the chatlog request, which has had several threads (e.g., this one in this forum over the past years. I continue to be shocked that the chat system isn't a priority. Please give us some way to record conversations, whether manual (copy lines from chat window) or automatic (chat logging). Not having recording pushes RP events outside of the game, away from the lovely world that Bioware has created.
  5. Wow, I am both super happy and super sad that this thread is still alive. I tried OCR but didn't have the time to do anything fancy with training, so unfortunately we're left waiting for the feature to be added. Yeah, when I said RSI I meant repetitive-stress. There's a _lot_ of transcription to do if one wants to share event text, etc.
  6. Since release, the Nok Drayen codex has been given just before the final ch1 encounter on Nar Shaddaa. Reading the codex essentially spoils the multiple surprises in the final encounter. I know that most players have already finished Smuggler by now, but it's surprising that the codex is still positioned in this way.
  7. How do you mean? (I know very little about TOR's chat system, beyond complaining about the lack of logging.)
  8. This option does not really mean "everyone", even for the Nar Shaddaa and Tatooine strongholds. As the mouseover text says: "Selecting this option will share your stronghold with players of the same faction as your currently logged-in character." This makes running RP events a chore, as I need to rope someone else in to give explicit invites on the opposite faction, rather than just having an open area that anyone can join. The current system is extremely frustrating. Please give us the option to have a truly open stronghold.
  9. Look out the first window of the Coruscant stronghold. There are two ships docked with the spire on the lower-level: a Valor-class cruiser (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Valor-class_cruiser) and Thranta-class corvette (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Thranta-class_corvette). The frigate is docked on the far side of the spire, and the Valor is closer. But the Corvette appears enormous---even longer than the cruiser, even though it is smaller and positioned further away. While the length isn't listed for the Thranta, we see comparative lengths in the old space missions, and there's no comparison. I know this is a minor issue, but it also looks quite jarring and harms the visual identity of the Coruscant SH. I wonder if there's a reason for this: is the Thranta some sort of superThranta? The gun-bubbles are the same size as on a normal one, though...
  10. Well, it's been a while. We now have lovely houses to host our RP events...but no way to log conversations. I really hope that we'll see chat logging added to the game soon.
  11. Vonnegut fan in development?
  12. The excuse I often hear is that "it makes no sense for Malavai Quinn and Corso Riggs to be playing sabaac together". People are so afraid that we'll do something that looks weird. But so what? So what if someone creates a mildly lore-stretching scene? Moreover, most of us RPers use companions as props: Malavai Quinn *isn't* Malavai Quinn, and my Sith warrior isn't The Sith Warrior from Bioware's Story.
  13. I am also wondering how the prices on blue and purple mission items may change, given the shift in low and mid-level mission results.
  14. It's a tricky time to sell expensive things, since many people with 10+m banked are hoarding for strongholds. I'd have considered 10-20m a few months ago, but not now. There are totally people on this server with that kind of money, BTW. :-) Many of them are roleplayers.
  15. This is absolutely wrecking cross-faction RP. It's not just eliminating arena smacktalk. It's driving RPers onto 3rd party sites and, worse, away from the game. No chat log is bad enough for RP; I didn't think it could get worse. But I was wrong: no *chat* is worse.
  16. Especially on an RP server, it's vital to separate the "in-game plot" character from the "real" character. Having a dozen characters running around as "The Jedi Knight" would be no end of confusing, not to mention limiting! This means that I don't think of my characters as being the Bioware characters at all. When you aren't trying to fit into a narrow Bioware story prompt, there's a lot more freedom to be "lore appropriate". :-) My Sith (not "Sith Warrior") is: http://bcholonet.wikia.com/wiki/Semah_Valerian (This thread has reminded me that it's been ages since I updated that page. Sigh.)
  17. Thanks for the support, folks. Again, this isn't the first request for chat logging. There have been a number of suggestion box threads since launch.
  18. I am hoping that she _doesn't_ turn out to be the Secret Evil Villain All Along. The official lore needs more moderate Sith who nevertheless care about the Empire. RP servers can get into some pretty nasty debates about what a "real Sith" is, and Lana could provide a different datapoint.
  19. Thanks for asking! I'll explain. I ran a major RP event for a dozen people on Saturday. It lasted around 4 hours, and so as you might imagine, a lot of stuff was said. My policy for these events is to log them and then post the log online, so that people who can't come can still see what happened. That means that I can't hold events in-game. Transcribing a hundred screenshots would be prohibitive. So I run them in external programs instead. That's possible with advance notice, but it doesn't cover spontaneous scenes. Either way, chat logging would be immensely valuable for RP.
  20. Nope. The game has _combat_ logging, but no option to log party chat, whispers, etc.---or if it does, nobody has been able to explain how to access it. This issue has come up in this forum a couple of times in the past, so it's clearly an important issue, at least for RPers. Sadly the topic tends to get swept under the tide of PvE/PvP suggestions. February 2012: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=309188 December 2013: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=568596 March 2013: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=616234 Let's not let the issue fall to the side. The devs have said that they want to increase quality-of-life, so let's continue to respectfully raise the issue in this thread. Roleplayers unite.
  21. We all know how useful a chat log would be for sharing RP scenes. At the moment, if we want to transcribe event dialogue and share it with those who weren't there, we need to edit down or transcribe screenshots. Let's stand together as roleplayers and (respectfully) keep asking for chat logging to be added to the game. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=7051598#post7051598 (If you do reply, please keep it civil, however frustrated we may be. :-) More flies with honey, as they say...)
  22. Right now, if I want to record a roleplay scene and post it for my server's community to read, I need to take screenshots and then either edit and combine the screenshots or transcribe them. This is enormously time consuming and tedious, although I do occasionally do it for major plot development. A chat logging feature would save roleplayers many hours of transcription and a great deal of frustration. Please consider adding one. Save us!
  23. Preferences -> Starfighter -> Invert Mouse Vertical? Are objectives really that immersion-breaking for you? It seems like you want Galactic Dogfighter or Interstellar Arena.
