  1. With the first 2 points, that sort of stuff can't be helped by BW. After all, it's players that are the problem. Ignore them, move on. With the last point, you'll find it will be the opposite: New content will be delivered more, as bioware can charge for it. At least, the free players will be charged. The subscribers will get it for free. Theoretically at least.
  2. I can't help but notice how many announcements there are regarding maintenance schedules. Here's a suggestion: Only post an announcement when the servers are not in maintenance. You'll end up spamming the forums much less.
  3. This. A thousand times over. Zorrhid annoyed the crap outta me. Jadus was the lesser of 2 evils in my mind.
  4. I reckon he did but added the 'with regret' part.
  5. I've also decided to throw in the towel. For a while I've been ignoring the problems the game has been having while I was levelling my Imperial Agent. My IA is now level 50 and I find myself completely unmotivated to log in to it to get anything done. Although in this case there are personal reasons behind it as well as in game reasons. (And by personal reasons I mean unrelated to the game). I can't even motivate myself to level another toon. As such I just feel it's pointless paying for a sub. Oddly enough, this also happened in WoW as well so maybe I'm just not the person who MMOs are designed for.
  6. Is that supposed to be ironic or do you not know that it was Gandalf that said that?
  7. Yet running through the class story again with minimal difficulty would be fun? I'd say if they did this they should just make it so that you can view the cinematics any time you want once you have already viewed them. Although if they did that they'd have to record your choices so that it played out the same way.
  8. Actually, if they leave the old setu bonuses on the shell then those pieces of armour will be required for min-maxers, as they'd be able to use the armourings of the newer pieces for their set bonuses and still get the set bonuses from the old pieces. So something needs to be done to prevent people getting 2 lots of set bonuses, at least. Easiest way of doing that is to make the bonus on the armoring put in. Edit: Of hell, why not go the whole 9 yards and add another slot specifically for bonuses?
  9. Why are so many of you putting it as $? Don't give bioware ideas! It's credits
  10. The cover system can be used anywhere. I've got a level 50 sniper, and if you take cover where none is available you'll just crouch in place with a sort of mini shield brought up in front of you. While the sniper might be an empire character, the storyline is definitely worth it. Incidentally, I'm currently levelling a commando as well and quite enjoying it so far. I got the ability that let's you shoot people to heal them and did an esseles run with it which I quite enjoyed. basically, just think: Would you prefer a heavy cannon and heavy armor or medium armor and dual wield pistols?
  11. Try and think what else you want in a character: Do you want to be able to heal or tank in any way? Or would you prefer to be pure DPS? Do you want a character that is capable to stealthing? Also think about storyline and general class feel.
  12. I think what they really need to do is implement alternate ways of earning the perks other than money. Like for instance, to get the XP buffs you have to do that sort of thing X amount of times. So, to get the first tier of space combat XP they should make it so you get it after 10 battles. Alternatively they need to make it so that there are ways to make the purchases cheaper, as currently legacy level is nothing but an artificial barrier.
  13. With legacy, I've had legacy goals I've wanted to achieve before levelling other chars. 1 of them was to get the 100 precense buff that comes from levelling a human to 50, which I achieved last night. Another is to try and unlock all the class buffs to make it easier for everyone, although I find it's not that common to find people that can buff more than their own classes. Am I running in to the wrong players or do most people either: A) Not have any buff unlocks. or B) Only have 1 other?
  14. No he isn't. More specifically, the 'theory part. IE: Just because the theory states that, with a large sample size you'll find the probability to be correct, it doesn't mean it always is. I do wonder what the % it's come out with overall is for the population of single server, though, as that would certainly be classed as a huge sample size.
  15. Are you guys going to fix the lag spikes before doing this or just hope for the best? Y'know, bioware policy and all.
  16. If you're being cynical, this ^^ If you want a more in depth answer, WoW did it because gold sellers would use the auction house to transfer money to people that bought gold off them. They did it by having the person put up a worthless item for lots of gold. To try and combat this, Blizzard put a delay in the time it takes you to get your money, so that way if there is a transaction they need to flag they can investigate it and stop it before it gets to the person. I'm going to assume that Bioware have done it for the same reason, however I'm getting rather cynical myself and am thinking they did it because WoW did it and they genuinely don't know why WoW did it.
  17. If you press reply without reading a post properly, then maybe the forum isn't for you.
  18. Do you have a genuine point to this thread or are you just trolling? Of course an MMO is going to try and make money somewhere. After all the people running it aren't likely to be a charity; They have to make money somewhere. The F2P model just makes it easier for new players to feel like they can get into a game as they don't feel intimidated by a subscription cost, nor an inital cost of the game itself. Also, with a F2P model, you can let the customer choose what they pay for. Lord of the rings online is a good example of this. Also, do you honestly believe what you said, and have data to back it up, or are you merely following the popular opinion?
  19. Let me see if I can word this right: Are conversations options assigned a certain numbered short cut based on what would be most suitable for that class, or is it mostly random?
  20. I agree, they need to make players' classification less confusing. Rather than being strong, I simply see them as falling under their own classification of 'Player'. Also, BW should clarify what these abilities do. However, I disagree about them going against their tooltip, as they state they only work for weak, standard and strong, which they do. It's just that players are none of the above, which causes confusion.
  21. I think the only way this could work would basically be a pallet swap. Even then it is a bit more difficult as some companions of the same use different weapons. IE: Kira is able to use double bladed light sabres, however Vector (also melee DPS) isn't.
  22. Pommel Strike, at least, is a skill that only works on weak, standard, and strong targets. Players aren't classified as any one of those things, hence why it doesn't work. You'll also notice that abilities that incapacitate weak and standard targets only deal damage to them as well. These abilities are useful as they can be powerful abilities to use when questing without sacrificing PvP balance. Another example of an ability (or abilities) is the heroic moments, which are only usable with a companion out, preventing their use in competitive PvP. I could go on, but I think you get my point by now, but if you don't: Certain abilities have been engineered as useful for PvE but only usable in PvE due to how they'd affect PvP.
  23. Does the presence bonus given from the companions stack up with each character?
  24. Right guys, I was thinking, and it occurred to me how new classes would be the natural progression of this game through expansion packs, and I couldn't help but think are new classes really necessary? I mean, eventually they're going to get to the stage where they're just diluting the class types, after all, what's the point in adding new classes if they're basically just hybrids of other classes? This made me realise that maybe what is needed is a change around of current class story lines to take into account faction switching. By that, I mean retcon in parts of the stories to give the classes a chance to defect to the opposite faction. IE: For an imperial agent This would make it so that your choices matter a lot more. I'm not 100% sure of how this would work, but if there was some way to legitimately switch factions, how many would do it? How many like the thought of playing a dark jedi knight? Or a sith traitor? It would make the game feel more sandbox like. I thought of this because defecting is more than viable in this game, due to the fact that you get a lot of dark Jedis in the lore and how smugglers and bounty hunters could go either way really.
