  1. Do we really need another one of these threads? It's like the same person is starting new threads using a template. Step 1: Semi-provocative and sometimes misleading title. Step 2: Post game resume because explaining that you've been playing games for a long time but still haven't learned from that experience is always a good thing to put out there. Step 3: Claim there is nothing to do and when people point out what you can do, explain that those are things you choose not to do. Step 4: Predict the game's "death."
  2. Everything on the forums is exaggerated. The fact that these supposedly dissatisfied customers are still here, still posting is the most telling of all. A bit of reading between the lines.
  3. Well Lucas was inspired by Herbert's Dune which Martin probably found inspiration from as well. The Spice must flow.
  4. Getting geared should never be a chore. People shouldn't be going a year or more to complete a set. Should be focused on playing the game with a solid crew you enjoy playing with, not just logging in for a weekly Wheel of Loot for some sort of bragging rights that no one outside of the game would ever care about. Good gearing pace means Raid/Operation crews get to visually see the fruits of their labor sooner. Gives a better sense of actually getting things done as a team than to have a few people decked out or several folks wearing one piece of a set after months. Plus they seem to be planning on rolling out new Operations on a regular basis so struggling to get everyone geared appropriately in time for the next patch and new Op would be a bit of a drag. And hopefully it cuts down on loot drama. Seen so many people rage gquit in other games because something they wanted finally dropped and someone else got it. If people feel that what they want can be acquired in a sane amount of time, they might be less likely to flip out.
  5. Well there is a nasty storm system kicking up high winds on the East Coast right now. Maybe some communication links are taking a beating? Could be some power outages.
  6. The true question is, why are there so many body type 4 male characters running around with names like Donut and Rolypoly? Sure it might be funny to create it, but to actually play it to 50? That's a whole nother level of jerk right there.
  7. It's not sexist. It's just the way things are. Women are wired to want to attract, to be physically appealing, to be looked at and desired. Men are not wired that way. If we had it our way we'd be invisible so we could sneak up on our enemies and destroy them and take what's theirs and make it ours. Not everything has to be completely equally distributed. There ARE differences. If we are going to enforce total equal distribution among the genders than I declare right here and now that women are no longer allowed to obsess about shoes. Men don't. Women shouldn't either. Be equal. Stop being sexist. Blah blah blah. And get rid of make-up. It's deceiving. And push-up bras. Men don't wear push-up bras. Get rid of push-up bras. And don't say men demand you wear push-up bras, women came up with that to compete with other women, men just benefited. See? See how ridiculous it is to demand equal distribution of clothing among the genders when there are obvious differences in likes and needs? Gender equality is about opportunities. It's about voting, equal pay, property rights, marriage rights, etc. It's not about making men dance for you. That's not our thing. That's your thing. You aren't supposed to be looking for guys dressed in a skimpy outfit, you're supposed to be looking for a guy in a tux or a lumberjack or something. Not too mention, in game I see more women giggling and using the slave girl costume for themselves and their companions than I see males doing so.
  8. I try to get Kenneth to tell me what the frequency is.
  9. My Trooper already kissed Elara by the early 30s. Certainly wasn't finished Chapter 2. Don't pick a flirt option just because it's a flirt option. Think about what she wants to hear being how she is all procedural, etc. For me, she pushed towards something happening not the other way around. I think she says she has become fond of you during the conversation where the kiss happens. Mako on the BH took much longer for something to happen than Elara did. And Kira is practically jumping the Jedi Knight's bones as soon as she can, in fact I thought their kiss happened a little too quick. Naughty padawan.
  10. Healer and Tank shortages may come later. Right now people are still tinkering around with alts and figuring out what class they like best, etc. With companions there's no problem leveling with a tanking or healing spec. A lot of players will have all three roles covered by their characters. My guild has like 8 or 9 people in it and yet there's 30 characters. We are playing everything. Healer shortages may happen due to the UI, and Tank shortages may happen if Tanks get frustrated by the PuG scene. But in terms of the difficulty of leveling or playing any of the three roles, they are all pretty smooth experiences so there's plenty of each being played. Might even get a DPS shortage in this game instead of the usual Healer and Tank deficits just from the damage meter kids feeling unfulfilled cause they can't post standings every pull.
  11. +1 I rolled a Merc and a PT to do one Light and one Dark to see both angles, but ended up going Light on both because Mako pouted. What Mako wants, Mako gets. I referred to Torian as Bieber so much that my leveling partner actually thought of him as Bieber until an NPC referred to him by name and she was like, "Who the heck is Torian?"
  12. Still tweaking mine from time to time and not yet 50 on the Powertech but here's what I have so far. WASD - movement, I've tried every other suggested configuration but I just go back to WASD in the end, old habits are really hard to break on that. I do 1-6 and then shift+1-6 on top bottom bar, I don't want to have to reach beyond 6 and it leaves 7 and beyond for stuff I wouldn't be trying to tap in a panic anyway. Non Shift+ letters are on bottom middle row. Shift+letters are on left bar. 1 - Jet Charge 2 - Rapid Shots 3 - Flame Burst 4 - Rocket Punch 5 - Rail Shot 6 - Unload S+2 - Explosive Dart S+3 - Electro Dart S+4 - Shoulder Slam S+5 - Kolto Overload S+6 - Vent Heat Q - Quell E - Missile Blast R - Neural Dart T - Sonic Missile F - Grapple G - Oil Slick (to have it near B not to have it near Grapple) Z - Death from Above (I usually just click this since I'm usually using it to start a pull and have to use the mouse to target it anyway, I tried using Z for Target of Target but wasn't using it really.) X - Flame Sweep C - Flame Thrower V - Stealth Scan B - Energy Shield S+R - Relic S+T - Relic S+G - Guard S+B - On the Trail Mouse Wheel press - Determination I don't bind a key to medpacs cause I'm clumsy and don't want to burn them by accident, I don't have trouble clicking them when needed. And buffs, speeder, and Recharge and Reload are all out of combat so I click those from my right bar.
  13. I'm ok with Hoth. It makes me crave hot chocolate though. Belsavis is pretty. Long, but pretty. Balmorra is probably my least favorite. And I don't like Imperial Taris because it's night.
  14. If you are going to accuse someone of not reading, at least make the effort to read the final, single word of my post you quoted. You are showing a severe lack of it.
  15. The important thing is that the system is in place. Instead of being miffed that there are no benefits available yet, just be glad that you have been leveling up your legacy already instead of playing for years only to have this system come out in an expansion and then you look back on how high your Legacy level would have been if it had come out sooner. It's like Achievements in WoW. By the time that rolled out I had already stopped raiding. And since it didn't retroactively count the stuff we had already achieved, my character's achievements looked like I had just rolled it. I would have rather had the system in place and ready to count what we were doing without any rewards yet. You'll feel better about Legacy once some time goes by and you find yourself at like level 115 Legacy with a bunch of benefits compared to someone just getting the game when an expansion came out. If they waited to put the system in at all until all the benefits were sorted out, all that time /played would have gotten us no Legacy levels. Patience.
  16. I thought Vibroknives were one of two items that there are no RE recipes you can learn? Or did they fix that?
  17. I'm kinda in the same boat, but haven't reached 50 yet. She stopped talking to me pretty much after a conversation where she said she thought anything happening between us was probably a bad idea and I chose a flirt option that has my character proclaim that he "wanted" her. I think it was too pushy at that stage. Meanwhile on my Trooper, at level 35, he's already kissed Elara. I didn't pick a flirt option every time with the Trooper even when there was one. I'm wondering if that is where we may have flubbed up with Mako. Too much, too soon. Bioware is teaching us how to handle the ladies. SWTOR is a secret relationship training program. At least Blizz still talks to me.

    Aim

The attributes are the way they are because of the armor types. Qyzen wears heavy armor, therefore Aim is his primary attribute. If they made Cunning his primary attribute, he'd wear medium armor. They could have gone with Strength for him, but then he'd look like a Jedi.
  19. Or for that matter why tack on "boy" to "fan"? I mean, isn't text communication all about shortening things these days? People can't be bothered to spell out those tough three letter words like "you" and "are" but instead of keeping "fan" short they actually tack another word onto it? I think it's funny that "people" became "ppl", "you" became "u", and "two/to/too" became "2" but "fan" actually had it's letter count doubled. I guess if a word can be used as a veiled insult or to at least be condescending to someone, it gets spelled out and lengthened. Now we need to figure out how to make "you" more insulting so it can get some justice and some added letters.
  20. I feel the same way. Taris especially summons memories for me, I think it's the colors. The green, light brown, light grey reminds me of playing with the SW toys as a kid with my brother and the kid next door who actually looked a bit like Mark Hamil. We'd play either out on our front side walk over my house or over on the neighbor's stone porch, using the grass in the yard to simulate a jungle. The light grey plastic of the toy vehicles. Taris just made me think of those days soon as I stepped out of the space port.

    Starting up

I never liked tanking in WoW but I've been having fun trying it out in TOR. Course I haven't done any hard modes yet so maybe that'll break my spirit when I do. This game is all about crowd control I feel. And it doesn't necessarily have to be one of the long CCs that most classes have, but other little things that knock mobs down, or knock them back or stun them for a few seconds. Lots of stuff going on and ways that the entire group can help keep things from being a problem for a few seconds here and there. It reminds me of the days of 5-manning Scholomance when most groups were still 10-manning it. Your party had to think on their feet. It's not just damage damage damage with no thinking involved. So far I've tanked a bit with both a Trooper Vanguard and his counterpart the Bounty Hunter Powertech as well as a Jedi Shadow. I also have a low level Jedi Knight I'm playing with a tanking spec but haven't done enough on him to get a feel for it yet. I like all the tricks the Shadow has up his sleeve but the Trooper and BH just feel like tanks to me. I feel beefcake when I login on them and start charging mobs. It's all about personal preference. If you tanked in WoW I think you'll like it in TOR as well.
  22. Tattoine is the closest we will come to a Dune MMO. Sand will cover this place, sand will cover you.
  23. Uninstalling! Though I guess it will cut down on the windburn on Hoth. Reinstalling!
  24. ^ Best one yet. Well done. I'm surprised no one mentioned the Bourne Legacy. Too obvious? I went with Sunstriker on the server my Republic characters are on. Cause I'll punch the sun in the frickin face if it doesn't get out of mine! Yeah, I'm not a morning person.
