  1. Smugglers have a lot of abilities. Most of the damage abilities are positional or range-limited or require stealth/cover. We have a variety of avoidance and defensive abilities and can make good healers as well (if specialized in healing). Smugglers also have an advantage over the other listed classes in that, since they are Republic, they get to play all three warzones with short/no queues (I've never queued longer than 4 minutes even in offpeak) and a target-rich environment in open-world PVP (stealth makes it easy to get to the Empire questing areas).
  2. Consider that $15 spent on a new game, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The storyline must be at least somewhat different than that of Star Wars: The Sith Empire since we go to some planets at different times in our career.
  3. Fame comes from having good video editing software. Those who post exciting battles on YouTube will be more famous in the long run than those that rely on people in the game remembering them.
  4. Well it might take 100 hours or more to get back to fully geared level 50 if you reroll as republic, you can be playing Alderaan and Voidstar in 4-5 hours (get to 15 and acquire some gear).
  5. My smuggler just got the Smuggle ability (I think at 43) which is an AOE stealth that lasts for 15 seconds. You can't cast it in combat and you cant cast it from stealth. I haven't tried it out it yet.

    Is PvP unfair

Republic players get a lot more practice through shorter queue times and not playing huttball all the time.
  7. Most of the "solo" encounters in the game assume that you have a companion with you, so plan to adventure with one throughout the game. However, you will get more companions -- you can only use one at a time, but you might find one of your future companions works better with your playstyle. Also make sure that your companion has up-to-date gear, especially if your companion takes most of the hits.
  8. It should get you a expires-in-one-hour pass to the VIP room in the Fleet Cantina...
  9. In the area with the PVP mission terminal, there are a number of PVP Armor vendors in the upper level. Each group has one that is called "PVP Armor Vendor" and sells level 20-40 PVP armor (all the others with particular armor-type names only sell level 50 gear). Check them all and look for the one that sells armor for your class. As well, next to the PVP mission terminal, there is a PVP Weapons Vendor and another guy near him that sells miscellaneous gear. All PVP items are paid for with Warzone Commendations that you get from playing warzones. Level 20/40 armor does NOT have +expertise. At least some of the weapons DO have +expertise.
  10. All of them? or particular ones?
  11. Chase them. EDIT: Is it griefing if you are stopping someone from exploiting?
  12. I thought they had fixed that problem (turrets start out facing the republic ship and have to turn to fire on empire) a couple of patches ago. I haven't really noticed -- the Republic usually wins (around 2/3 I'd estimate) in any case on my server, at least in my experience in pre-50 WZs.
  13. Normally, I would say that you should just stop healing annoying people like this. However, this is one situation where the reverse is true and you should make a point of overhealing them and ensuring that they always have HoTs running.
  14. I would suspect that a combination of both would be most effective. Some quests are fast and some take a while -- for example, bonus quests can be rewarding for xp but sometimes it takes a long time to find and kill all the required mobs. It would probably be best to do the class quests (so you unlock companions/ships/planets/etc) and at least the simple solo quests that are in the same general area. Abandon the ones that are going to take a long time and do some PVP warzones instead until you are a high enough level to continue your class quest. Grouping to do heroics and flashpoints can also provide good xp and bring your gear up to date. EDIT: Also, some level of questing is particularly useful on PVP servers, since you will want to at least eventually get your maps uncovered on each planet (and discover all the bind points and taxi stations). This is to ensure that, in the event you need to come help others in PVP, you can get to where they are without having to explore. Even on PVE servers, if you plan to group with others, they will expect you to be able to taxi or Quick Travel to the quest locations. Of course, if you don't ever plan to do group PVE, this doesn't matter. When comparing questing to warzones, also consider that on the Empire side I understand that it can take a while to get into each warzone (as a Republican, I have never queued for more than 4 minutes and it usually takes less than 30sec). Also, you don't have to travel anywhere to get to warzones, so there is no travel/exploration/regrouping/conversation/etc time to consider.
  15. Under your system, how would the republicans have captured the northern assault if you held the centre?
  16. If you capture one of the turrets on either end of the battlefield in Alderaan Civil War (the west and east turrets), a speeder unlocks in the respawn area that will take you directly to that turret without flying all over the battlefield like the regular speeder does. In fact, if you are quick to hop on it when you die, you can usually make it back in time to stop the guy that killed you from capturing the turret (if there was only one of them).
  17. Then everyone will just sit in the corner.
  18. Where were your guys when the other side was capturing all the turrets in the first place? This is a point that bears repeating.
  19. It seems to only list Alderaan on the Queue Window, but I get Voidstar sometimes too. I've noticed queues starting to get longer outside of peak times too. Yesterday morning, I queued for almost 4 minutes before a new game started.
  20. I've been to Nar Shaddaa many times and I just discovered it today. I sell things on the Nar Shaddaa GTN, particularly level 25-35 items. Although not many use it, there are still some, and you don't have a lot of competition for your goods.
  21. Meridan 59. Until everyone left to play UO.
  22. If the mob has been attacked by a player, healing it should flag you for PvP as you are joining an encounter involving a player. However, healing a mob that has not been attacked by an enemy player should not flag you for PvP. There are numerous situations where friendly npcs are fighting enemy npcs and we should be able to help our side. In any case, I thought Ilum was a PvP planet...
  23. Use the tunnel under the middle to bring reinforcements from the other side.
  24. Happened to me today. I hadn't seen this bug before. We won Alderaan with 175 points left on our ship's shield, but it didn't count. The next game we won both rounds of Voidstar and it counted.
