  1. Their reasoning for taking it out was apparently that... it worked. People apparently reported that because the colors weren't changing, they felt like they weren't really progressing through gear. Isn't that a gear model issue, rather than color? If I get new boots, and they're the exact same boots that I had before but instead of blue, now they're green, that doesn't feel like any sort of progression. If my boots looked like basic rain boots and now they look more like combat boots, that feels like progression. *shrug* The color matching system was an OK answer to a game that lacked the freedom provided by a dye system. But it was better than nothing so I wonder what they're cooking up.
  2. It's actually a lot of BioWare's old-hat design choices that turn me off TOR. So unless EA said 'make WoW with a BioWare touch', which is entirely possible, I'm not actually putting anything on EA. It's simply not the Star Wars universe I'd like to play it right now now.
  3. Calling it a mount is as good as calling it a vehicle, get the frig over it. That's not the issue. I watched a level 43 on a speeder bike today, one that actually looked like a speeder bike should not some incredibly dorky segway lawnmower, and the thing looked so incredibly slow - I asked the player if that was as fast as it went and he replied "Yep. Sad isn't it? At least it looks better than the old one." Didn't really make me want to keep playing to earn one...
  4. I wish SWTOR all the best and perhaps I'll be back down the road at some point, but overall I'm unimpressed with many of the design decisions made. I will most likely be playing Guild Wars 2, The Secret World and or possibly ArcheAge.
  5. You'll experience the same type of reaction from Imperial officers who will call you 'Sir', which is perfectly acceptable in the military regardless of gender of the higher ranking person being referred to.
  6. It's all the little design decisions that seem counter-intuitive, illogical and simply wrong/unfun to me that worry me the most. They pile up.
  7. LMFAO. In all honesty I do love the VO and conversations - however a lot of the time it's the illusion of choice mattering... which is fine enough. However, some of the writing is actually insulting to the intelligence of some players. Overall, I still watch all the convos but I've found I do ESC from some of them when I wasn't happy with what I chose led to the character actually saying.
  8. I just got it. I strongly recommend you guys see it Cheers.
  9. Some people only know WoW so that's automatically where they go. As for the OP, I'd also like to see this system in game BUT I'd like to see customization options updated with better facial hair (that doesn't look like 3d poop stuck on a face) and stubble options, more new hairstyles etc.
  10. I find statements like this really ignorant. Just because someone isn't in agreement of your views of something doesn't mean they're wrong. They have the right to express their own views and feelings. In some ways, I'm seeing many forum posts almost as a sort of 'support group confession', someone who really wanted to love the game, but doesn't, and that sucks for them, so they're just here as still members of the community, venting that out. It's understandable.
  11. Feeling the same - been following the game since late 2006 :/ and it's not that I had crazy expectations either, I just really don't enjoy a lot of the design decisions made. A lot of them. From big things to many many small things. Maybe I'll see you in GW2. I feel your pain mate. It's a decent MMORPG, possibly the most polished version of old ideas (+VO/cutscenes) but it sadly isn't doing it for me as a game I want to pay for monthly.
  12. hahahahah burn. OP, like myself, you'll likely find your place in GW2 or TSW. I agree there have been a lot of design decisions that baffle me. *shrug* Simple LOGIC most of the time seems to have gone right out the window. Ah well.
  13. If your game lacks a proper appearance tab, then this would be... Good design.
  14. Appearance Tabs. Gambling Games: Putting bets on races, taking part in swoop races, putting bets on arena matches, playing cards. Better/more variety of gear appearances.
  15. Unfortunately, I personally know about 8 people who cancelled their pre-order after trying the game and not liking what was there in favor of waiting for GW2. I also know about 20 ppl who DID get it. I myself got it, but cancelled my CE and got a regular edition. What will be interesting is not the amount of boxes the hype sold, but the retention in the second and third months as well as new accounts due to word of mouth.
  16. For me, I found many of the classes 'boring' in combat and the stories themselves very slow. Bounty Hunter, a class I was fully not expecting to like, turned out to be the only one I really have a lot of fun playing because it's fun and interesting to watch the BH's abilities where was the other classes... again, they just felt/looked boring and unimpressive to me.
  17. We will likely eventually see an in game 'barber' style NPC/service, which will allow you to alter your character's appearance in such ways as: -Hair Style -Hair Color -Facial Hair -Scars etc. But nothing major like changing gender or species.
  18. I'm a game designer and creative writer, with a background in strategic online marketing (so the business side of the company rather than the creative side that I'm now in). Not saying I know everything or anything, I'm just saying I try not to talk outta my arse Indeed.
  19. I'm glad I had a regular edition and a CE waiting for me and I had a chance to really look into what CE was offering. Personally, the CE didn't impress me and I'm glad I saved a LOT of money. I'm sure the vendors will get more stuff but honestly, I dislike the look of about 90% of the gear in this game, so I felt like the CE vendor would likely just have more armors I don't like the look of that would still cost me like 20k per piece... so... pass. Anyhoo, quite a few threads about people feeling the CE vendor was pretty 'lacking'. I hope you CE people get some good stuff in the future.
  20. Personally, I hate the idea that this blaster is OK for either hand, this one for some reason is off hand only. Huh? What kinda logic...?
  21. Just another reason I think ArenaNet is ahead of the curve with GW2 design philosophies where EVERYONE is rewarded based on their contribution in a battle. Enough of this ninja looting crap.
  22. The second alignment became a restricting factor for gear, the freedom of choice was ripped out of the 'role play' for players. It became something that essentially penalizes a player for the decisions they've made.
