  1. If I recall, you couldn't even remove the mods from the end-game sets, so you were stuck wearing that ugly crap. So when they patched it to make the mods removable, they obviously didn't think about the set bonus being tied to shell. I'm guessing it would be more trouble than it's worth to reprogram the gear to move the set bonuses to armorings so they just decided to do it going forward, i.e. campaign armors.
  2. Just do what I did. The biggest part of the "look" to any set, is the chest piece. Since you only need 4 pcs to get the bonus, use the cartel chest to get the biggest part of the look you want and then wear 4 other tionese/rakata until you can buy the campaign armorings. Then unify colors so they all match your cartel chest piece. Problem solved. Move on.
  3. I've gotten both my stipend of 600 (6mo sub) and 100 (security key) on either the 15th or 16th of the month since f2p launched. So I don't expect this month's to come for another week, yet. They better show up
  4. The thing about nostalgia... you only remember the good parts. The reason games today don't have actual 3d renderings of EVERY object in the gameworld is because it would KILL the servers. I remember the days of UO servers grinding to a halt and the issues they had having to constantly monitor/upgrade the hardware to maintain the TONS and TONS of items that had come to exist in the gameworld. You couldn't walk two feet in the WILDERNESS without smacking into someone's house, stable, villa, or CASTLE. Sure it was kinda neat what UO did and being one of the very first MMOs, they were groundbreaking. But it wasn't sustainable. If it was, UO would still be around as the dominate MMO.
  5. I'm not asking for a comparison of current f2p vs sub. With the current state, a f2p DOES pay more than a sub for "equal" access, i.e. buying weekly unlocks, etc. I'm talking about the proposed changes for permanent unlocks, which is the contention that lies within this thread. What would it cost? To PERMANENTLY unlock everything? We actually can't know because it doesn't exist, but that's what we have to know before we can truly argue f2p vs sub cost differentials. My numbers were based on numbers given by others in this thread and were just my attempt at showing how it could be unfair to subs in order to show why subs do not like the idea of permanent unlocks for everything. Personally, as long as the cost is equal, if not more than, what a sub pays, then I'm fine with it. Otherwise, there must be sub-only perks with enough incentive to maintain a sub, else why have them at all?
  6. Since that is included as part of the sub fees, they cannot be counted in a real money argument. Edit: correction, yes 12k coins for 2 yrs, duh I wasn't thinking I'm talking about actual, out-of-pocket dollars comparison here.
  7. What I want to hear are some real numbers. Currently, I've only seen someone say they've payed $100 or so for unlocks. So what would the proposed cost be to unlock EVERYTHING? $150? Which at the current state of the game, in a year, the freemium has paid $150 while a sub has paid $180 (12x15). How is this paying more than a sub? OK, you say you have to pay for xpacs and future unlocks. Let's say future, new xpac is $40 ($20 for subs) and new unlocks for the next period is MAYBE $100. So now freemium has paid (150 + 40 + 100) $290 for 2 yrs of SWTOR... a sub has paid $380!! (180x2 + 20 for xpac). So as it stands with the numbers people are throwing around... it would NOT pay to be a sub... which only further enforces sub arguments that, NO, freemiums should NOT be allowed to unlock everything. Now some REAL freemium numbers (cuz the sub numbers ARE real) that could disprove this, could lend freemium arguments much more weight. But as it stands, subs are getting screwed if freemiums get what they are asking for.
  8. Isn't she a 34 elite or champion? Yah 32 won't cut it. I just beat her and I was 34 Shadow tank w/ Theran. Was pretty easy that way
  9. I think his point would be that you HAVE a shield and are using the proper form, yes? Whereas the ***-hats do NOT have a shield and are trying to tank in a DPS form. Edit: To-wit, I will add that I have also experienced the OPs gripe. Was in an HM FP the other night and the tank that queue'd in has BARELY more HP than my Tionese geared Sentinel, would only focus on one target at time, causing me to have to try and save the healer over and over, and took SEVERAL promptings from the group to change into their tanking form. He finally had enough of our promptings and left the group. Unfortunately, we didn't get another tank and after about 10mins of waiting we called it
  10. There's usually one nearby the crew skill trainers on the various planets that have them, as well.
  11. It should also be noted that the mod stations are pointless and not needed unless you are trying to use augment kits. For all other mods you can mod your gear w/o the need for the table. Just ctrl-click (i forget if it's left or right, but the tool tip of the item will tell you) and it will open up the window for changing mods on that piece of equipment.
  12. To be clear, there aren't 2 sets of skills. There's only one. They only reason they are separated into two tabs is because some skills are general Knight skills, shared by both guardians and sentinels, like Force Sweep, and some are sentinel specific, like Rebuke. You'll want to be sure to train ALL your skills. And as others have stated, if you don't have enough money to train, you're doing something seriously wrong with your credits.
  13. I'm assuming you mean orange (moddable) gear. Which, in all honesty, just play the game. The pieces will come as you level and do quests. You might end up with a lucky drop, but there will be plenty of opportunity from various quest/heroic rewards or bought via commendation or specialty goods vendors. Edit: I will add that ppl ssem to be having difficulty getting a moddlable belt. They seem to be rather rare.

  15. Only thing I can think of is the dark greyish/bluish robe you get on coruscant as reward for one of the heroics, but was a guardian robe (heavy armor) so dunno about if you're a sent.
  16. If you don't want to have a bubble butt while wearing a jedi robe, go type 3. My type 3 sent has no stupid bubble butt in his robe but my type 2 guardian does, so I have to have him wear a cloak/cape chestpiece instead of a robe.
  17. They complain because they think that going in w/ subpar gear and a woefully equipped companion should be ezmode. You really have to wonder about some ppl when they can't handle a simple video game They completely fail to realize that the class boss is at the end of the quests for a given planet, so BW tunes the fight based on expecting the player to be using up-to-date commendation gear. And you tell the person that, and half the time the response is, commen-what? Just confirms my ongoing commentary on the world... ppl ... are... stupid.
  18. Every quest in every zone of Coruscant, not just class quests, including heroics? Weird... I've leveled nearly all 8 classes (think my sage is still there hehe) through Coruscant and every one of em were level 18/19 by the time they left. Well, I'd go with the suggestion to lvl up via warzones, or redo the heroics, they can be done daily. Gets you some extra comms for more gear or mods for you or your companion, too.
  19. If you did all the quests in each zone, you should easily be lvl 18 by the time you go after tarnis. Coincidentally enough, Force Kick is trained at lvl 18.... go figure.

  21. While you are certainly correct, they will have the highest likelyhood of a german-speaking/writing person that can answer whereas these forums are U.S. which IS one country that does NOT speak German.
  22. Yes, if you have a cybertech alt/friend go that route. Else, why does everyone think they can't/won't use the 'guardian' mods/armorings/hilts? They aren't THAT far off from the might ones. I've found I'd rather have the higher rating (thus higher armor or dmg) and lose a few strenth points while gaining a bunch of endurance. For example I've seen pieces where the might one would have 18 str and 7 end while the guardian would have 13 str and 14 end. So lose 5 str and gain double the end? Seems like a pretty good trade off to me considering I'm also getting a much higher rating on my wpn/armor.
  23. If you keep his gear up to date he may actually do fine for you, though many have reported that his tanking does not scale at the higher lvls so at that point his lower dps compared to kira makes him a deterimant instead of helping. But by that time, unless you have creds to spend on gearing up kira, she won't be geared up enough to be a suitable replacement.
