  1. You did read his post didn't you, he has a valid point. People who want to get to champion status need to do more dailies and that includes the stupid pvp stuff that naturally many pve players would prefer not to do. That's pretty much called forcing people to do something they don't want to do to achieve the goal that is available. As no other pathway to success is available i tend to think of that as not having a real valid choice other than abstaining. Myself, as a primary solo player ive just abandoned the whole idea. The event is pretty much geared towards a certain type of player.
  2. Animal mounts are well and truly part of SW lore. Cracian Thumpers (think taun taun's with no horns and short brown fur like a horse), Dewbacks and other creatures were widespread in the galaxy.
  3. So this is the formula they used for nearly all the species then yes, slightly altered humans, because that's is all we got, with one exception. 'slightly altered humans.' let's face facts, BW cut corners and made species irrelevant to the game experience as they are purely cosmetic and failed to deliver any significant diversity in player racial choices. That cyborgs are deemed a species and a human only species makes swtor the laughing stock of mmo's as far as racial diversity goes. Whoever made those design decisions should hang their head in shame.
  4. I completed the whole thing yesterday, indeed it is a massive pain in the rear, the scanning was very annoying but with others doing the same thing it helped. My biggest gripe was that as a personal quest your forced into doing two flash points. I hate the way BW makes people do FP's to achieve anything meaningful in swtor. It's a personal quest for a companion made hard enough by the lame time-sink that then forces you into teaming up. Really BW i should be able to do this solo with companions, at level 50 i've earned that right. Though i am sure many will dissagree.
  5. By Iconic i am generally referring to those species depicted in all the movies and the clone wars too. Basically those races that when you look at them you just think, star wars. I accept that due to the initial design parameters of swtor it may now be too late to ever expect real aliens as playable. However if this is the case, then at some point in the development process someone made a decision to limit the races to those neo-human species. Which is why I do not believe we will ever see real iconic aliens as playable in swotor. BW didn't want to go down that path in initial development, and their comments in regards to the Cathar demonstrates they are deeply reluctant to do so now. The Cathar will be a big fail and BW will then be free to walk away from any commitment to implement other races. Because lets face facts, if BW added any of the "popular" star wars races they would have their backs against the wall because it would be a resounding success.
  6. This is how BW will justify NOT doing races, it's a bit of a set up. They pick a race "cathar" that is partially modeled already, not overly popular and not one of the iconic star wars aliens that players actually want. I agree there may be some players who love cathar, but lets face it, if BW was serious about introducing races, they would bring us something like the Nautalin or Wookie or Rodian, something that everyone instantly recognises as Star Wars. Something that if they did release would be guaranteed to be successful. Instead they pick Cathar. Let's face it, if you had not already played swtor you you probably wouldn't know what a cathar is. They are not featured in the star wars movies and though they may appear in the lore somewhere it is clear that the cathar are not most peoples first choice of a playable race. BW must know this. So then they say, how successful the cathar are will determine if we get other races in the future. So when the vast majority of players don't feel compelled to role up a new toon and play a cathar then BW can turn around and say, they were not successful, we wont do any new races, end of discussion. Somewhere in the recesses of BW some brilliant person thinks this is a good idea. I can't for the life of me understand why? I don't believe for a moment that BW is so blinkered to the desires of fans/players that they can't see what they are doing. But for some reason they want new races to fail, they don't want to do it. Otherwise we would have had these alien races at release. I believe that for design reasons, because it is easier, they have stuck with neo-humans from the beginning and they do not want to change that. They have chosen the easy path early in the design of swtor and they are unwilling to step off that path now. It is a very disappointing state of affairs when we see new armor and speeders and crystals and other fluff arriving in the cartel market regularly, somone is getting paid to make this fluff, people buy it, i admit i do too because i am bored with swtor but dont want to leave it because it love star wars. It's such a pity that BW doesn't love star wars that much, or maybe they would have chosen to take a more corageous path when developing swtor and actually give fans what they desire and would pay for pay for.
  7. And perhaps this is because so many players want it.
  8. Great Post! Don't forget; Red Humans, Green Humans, and soon Furry Humans! Cathar = more humans! Apparently we the subscribers have no right to critique BW and their failure to capture the diversity of the star wars universe by giving players a real racial choice when rolling up a character which they the player are then going to invest significant time and energy into leveling. If voice acting was the real issue behind the lack of iconic star wars alien races in swtor then why is it that BW has not provided us with access to several of the alien races that do speak basic and can be added? The cartel market fills up with fluff items but nothing of any substance is delivered. I had hoped that F2P swtor would open the door to adding new alien (not more humans) races but we have no word on this from the ever silent BW. As a subscriber you have a right to critique the game constructively. Your post was great, the humor much appreciated and fully empathised with. After all better to use humor than just rant
  9. Sorry but Cathar = furry neo-human. Just another human variant. They should have given us Bothan instead, a decent alien feline or any other of a dozen proper aliens we are all waiting for.
  10. Over a year since release and not a single new race has been added to the list of playable races. This is star wars dammit! playing swotor should be like walking into the cantina on mos-eisly in a new hope. For goodness sake, I don't need to buy fluff items, armor sets and cosmetic stuff from the cartel market, I need to be able to unlock new playable non-human races. It goes beyond my understanding how a company with a good background like Bioware can continue to ignore this issue. The Star Wars vision is not an all human & neo-human vision. blue, green, red, grey, yellow, blind, cyber, furry neo-humans are not what Star Wars is about. Players need to be able to play those races they have dreamed of playing ever since swtor was announced. We don't care if they don't speak basic. I would happily re-roll new characters of unique race and replay old content over in order to satisfy my desire to create characters of a specific species and I know many many other players would do the same. Surely this is a way to extend the appeal of the current game and existing content as well as draw in new players and draw old ones back. Why then Bioware the complete utter lack of action on this front? There are already numerous npc avatars available of various species, we already have a effective subtitle system, how hard can it possibly be to raise the bar a little and more meet the perfectly reasonable expectation of players to be allowed to play species they expected to be able to play from launch.
  11. Races should not be faction specific. Ideology isn't determined by race.
  12. Still no playable non-human alien races and no word of them. This is a Star Wars game right?
  13. 1) Story Pillar - It was great to see a developer give it a go and try and ressurect story content in a large scale MMO. 2) Dialog & Voice over text based content. Sure much of it was cheesy, but it was much better than text based content. 3) Combat, though it had issues, the feel of combat is good, paced and fun and feels like star wars should. if failed : 1) Story Pillar - after all the effort of making players feel they own their story (despite it being far to linear and choices being meaningless.) the Story Pillar is utterly abandoned once you reach level cap and have to grind pointless raids just like any other MMO. 2) Crafting - again a complete waste of time once you reach level 50 and all gear is raid based. Crafting is nothing but a creditsink and serves no purpose other than helping alts and lowbie toons. 3) Playable Races - my biggest gripe since beta remains my pet hate. Swtor isnt just some other fantasy mmo, giving us a handful of very similar pseudo human playable races doesn't cut it. This is Star Wars and there must be a plethora of iconic alien starwars races to play. Bioware, i would overlook many of the issues swotor has if i could just log in and roll up any of a dozen non-human alien races.
  14. Party Jawa sure isn't going to tempt me to renew my subscription and i seriously have started looking for reasons to stay. This isn't among them.
  15. The Title says it all, yes i reached legacy level 50. So what happened in celebration of this truly epic and momentous event? Did the game grant me some special title? Did bells and whistles go off, did I gain some special reward. Nope. Reaching legacy level fifty was no different to gaining any legacy level. Nothing special happens and it was just one more milestone with nothing to show for it. Way to go Bioware, epic fail backing up your own system and encouraging users to enjoy it when there is basically very little reason to do so. Getting to max level on a toon means something, we all know this. So getting to max legacy level should really mean something special and the game should reflect that, but it doesn't. Pathetic.
  16. Until there are more character slots available I would oppose any merge. One Oceanic server, 8 character slots, no other options. That spells bad news. And what about guilds that want a guild for each faction, if they are on the same server that creates a range of issues. If they merge the community they have to let us have more space for characters as they would be taking away any options other than rolling on US servers once again.
  17. I agree, with each world having the potential of a unique day/night cycle there sure was a lot of room to create imersion in swtor. it's a shame BW doesnt seem to interested in creating immersion as part of thier fourth pillar. The setting is so important to any story, yet BW have missed the boat compleatly.
  18. At the end of the day if they were going to give us a species that is feline they should have gone Bothan. I agree with this thread though. Since beta i was dissapointed with the pathetic racial choices of psudo-humans. This is Star Wars! It is supposed to be freaking chocked full of wierd non human species. It's NOT wow, we dont want half a dozen or so races. Bioware you can't treat the Star Wars fanchise like just another mmo, the fans you have left playing the game and paying for it are the hard core starwars fans who are loyal to the IP, if you are not in turn staying true to the IP then you WILL LOOSE THEM as they become disenfranchised. Wake up to yourselves Bioware! Cathar? seriously what a joke... I sure am NOT going to re-roll any toons just to make a lame cathar.
  19. OMG! What have we said? Fall... Does the guy not even know whats been said before he takes interviews, thats not a good sign at all.
  20. FAIL! thats really al i can think of to say with regard to this and the policy behind the rewards for this event. Nothing but a big fail by the Devs for creating an event with limited class specific rewards. Guess BW really is saving all the good stuff for the cash shop now.
  21. Okay so this guys paragraphing and use of caps is annoying, but I do agree 100% with the content of what he is saying. The Rewards for this world event are horrible. Bowcasters - Look cool but most of us cant use them and they have no unique sound or animation to distinguish them from normal rifles. Oh and it's a wookie weapon, so stating the obvious, adding bowcasters just highlights the lack of real unique playable alien spiecies in this game. Speeder - comical yes, 90% speed, need i say more? yawn... Pets - same old pets differant colour. Now thats just lazy design studio ethic. Armour - We already have sand people armour, did we need another set? I guess BW are saving the really cool armour for the cash shop. Shouldn't really be surprised. The only thing i like about the event is that we are having an event and new content is always good, but I agree that the rewards just plain suck and stink of a rushed half baked effort. The rakgoul event set the standard and this is way way below that. my 2c worth.
  22. I don't care which warzones are more liked or dissliked, the fact remains we should be permitted to choose which ones we want to play and be able to choose not to play the others. If you love huttball then you should be able to queue only for huttball! if you hate it alike all my friends do, then we should be able to elect not to have it in our queue. PvE players have this option, why not PvP players? Why the discrepancy!
  23. Fine give me the Choice! and while the Developers are at it, then all the Huttball fans can also choose to queue only for Hutball, it's a win, win situation. Just remove the MANDATORY requirment to queue without the ability to filter content i dont want to play. It isnt much to ask really.
  24. If i was a PvP only player i would have unsubbed and removed this game from my PC already. I can not believe that PvP players are forced to play random maps, while PvE players a re permitted to use a group finder tool that lets them select and de-select flashpoints and ops. Sure if you want you BH comms PvE players must roll the dice and may get a hard More Fp they dont want, but at least they are mostly playable. My Gripe centers round the extremely limited range of warzones and the fact that Bioware feels it is okay to force pvp players to endure huttball. Huttball should not be part of the normal random rotation of pvp missions, it should be seperate, let those who like it play it, let those who hate it elect to not play it. Otherwise players will contunie to abandon this game which has it's merits but seems to treat PvP players like pariahs.
  25. This wasn't the case before this week, you could queue up a team of four and still get comms. I did it numerous times without a hitch.
