  1. This new system is bad. BUT... I think finding something between the current one and the last medal system is doable and would balance things better. 8 medals shouldn't be hard for players who are actually trying their best regardless of class. Teams that play hard should be rewarded well. But I lack specifics on what to change. I just know the current one is awful.
  2. Nope. Hard disagree. The system can use the registry for when a player quits the game. Alternatively, the game can also monitor the connection of players and if there was no internet or server drop, it could detect intention that way. There are MANY ways they can do it, the devs simply don't want to. They think punishing grown, hard working adults is gonna fix the problem... it's probably gonna hemorrhage whatever is left. As for the people who would find ways around, this small, minor contingent of obsessed toxic idiots will ALWAYS be trying to find a way. Maybe if they actually took reporting player behavior seriously, they could actually combat it, but instead they are punishing everyone. I have experience corporate punishment. It simply does not work.
  3. Yep. Can confirm. Have been one of those types of quitters because even trying to rally a team together I'm told to go fornicate myself... so I do. This puts more incentive to AFK matches than to keep players and everything else you said is spot on. The fact that they decided NOT to code a system that can detect the registry of a player intentionally quitting is problematic as is. This just makes it even worse.
  4. This is the STUPIDEST thing you have managed to implement. If you are looking to hemorrhage the remaining playerbase, then it's the SMARTEST move you can make. Firstly, your poorly coded system can't distinguish between an honest disconnect or intentionally quitting the game. So already your original penalty is too much. Now you're going to up that penalty on a broken system? It amazes me how promising things looked for this game after 7.1 to now having a colossal dumpster fire of an update with 7.2 and now this... just sunset the game and get it overwith...
  5. I can understand the idea behind the leaver penalty. It's annoying having people quit until they find players they deem as competent as them. The problem with this idea is that the execution is bad. If the leaver penalty can't distinguish between disconnects and intentional quitting, it's better to simply not have one. I personally don't pay a subscription to be put into time-out like a child especially when it's not my fault. This archaic system either needs to be improved or removed completely as it is likely to put off more players and create a more negative experience in the long run. Just because other games have similar mechanics does not mean that the current version of it will stand up to scrutiny. Nothing will kill someone's excitement faster than punishing them for something they didn't do wrong.
  6. I've tried logging in several times, but the one time password still has yet to be sent... I'm not sure if the bot is down or what. I've checked ALL my possible inboxes, but nothing? Is the bot down? Can I get that feature turned off? Really not interested in the hassle of a security key.
  7. Rehashing of the same crap and making it worse
  8. I don't care what it is, how you do it, or what you do. Please give us something new
  9. Well my title says my suggestion plain and simple. I'll explain why of course. Once you reach 55 it feels that one is left to choose either grinding PvE gear or PvP gear. I have two problems with this system. One, gear based PvP grinding is a terrible system. Just because someone has a higher rating on their gear than me shouldn't automatically make them better and as I try to grind for my gear it leaves me feeling like I'm just banging my head against a wall as I get my butt kicked just because I lack expertise. The other issue this presents is what if one day I want to run a flashpoint or an operation? Well sucks for me cause now I have to grind a whole new set of gear that is only specific for PvE, which means if I want to work on my PvP gear I need to go back to banging my head against a wall. So a simple fix for all of this, I believe is to make all endgame gear universal. Toss out the expertise rating thing altogether and allow PvPers the chance to run Ops if they want and vise versa. Gear should give a slight advantage to players, not be the end all of all. This also gives players more opportunity to do more with endgame and nit just be limited to choosing a path. Please take this one into serious consideration. You made planet currencies universal and it made leveling go so much smoother.
  10. Mounts are bound to your collections once you activate them.
  11. Thank you all for your feedback, whether you agree or disagree, it is all welcome. As the post said this was more of a rant and I felt the time had come after playing for a year to express my personal thoughts, hence why I put emphasis on how I as a player was directly affected. I'm sure other players of the same class can feel my pain in one way or another and that I'm not alone, however I feel that if one is to express their personal problems with the game, it goes a lot further when you speak from your own experience rather than assuming everyone else is in the same boat. Granted I am just one mere player in a vast Galaxy Far Far Away, however I did seem to hit some points that others agree with. I would first like to address my cross-class story proposal. Obviously the logistics alone would take a few months to figure out, but I don't think it's impossible. At the very least, cross class interaction between one's characters would be pretty cool or if you could run two characters of different classes at the same time instead of always having to log out and back in would be very useful in things like crafting and/or running heroics in the middle of the night when no one else is on. I know BioWare wants to encourage more player interaction, but they seem to be missing all the easy opportunities to do so, for example, adding social points for PvP. What I really would like more of in this game and I'm sure others agree is more story content. I know the operations follow other story-lines, but as mentioned and agreed on by some the lack of universal endgame gear is the biggest issue. Which leads me to my final piece. What simple fix do you guys think would help improve this game tremendously? I mean let's not kid ourselves here, we all know this game has problems and we all have our ideas on how to fix them, but personally I think one immediate solution to the issue would be making all endgame gear universal. Instead of having to grind two types of gear we would all be given the option of one day running an eight man op or a hard mode flashpoint or dive into PvP without having to gear swap. I mean some days the PvP on either side can be so bad that you want to do something else- but oh you can't cause you chose to grind PvP and to start on a set of Operations gear you gotta start over. Universal gear would blow the door WIDE open of endgame players to do whatever they want whenever they want and not be limited to choosing a path. I am aware that there are players who grind both gear sets, but seriously, how many is that compared to the entire player base? After a while of gear grinding either side at some point, and I can only speak for myself, your head starts to hurt after banging your head for so long. Anyway, these are just some thoughts from one player. I think I'm going to put in my suggestion for universal endgame gear in the suggestion box and I'd encourage anyone else who wants universal endgame gear to do the same. Sure, I may be but one player and at first that suggestion may go strait to the trash folder of the Developer who reads it, but I do know what works with these games and that's if you want something, you gotta be consistent. If you all want universal endgame gear, then you, myself and everyone else you wants it has to flood the suggestion box with this idea.
  12. Yeah cause screw all those guys who are trying to make money! It's got to be fair and the wealth must be spread- speaking of, BioWare, send my subscription bill to the White House
  13. Well... I've been playing for about a year now and I must say it has saddened me to see what was a really good Star Wars game become something that is no longer what it used to be. Before I begin to list off my reasons I will warn those of you that have clicked on this to either prepare yourselves for a long read or depart this article now. I'm going to be hitting topics all across the spectrum, hence why I'm posting in General. With that said, let us begin, shall we? My first experience with TOR was good. I started off as a Jedi Knight and I must say I rather enjoyed the story progression and everything involved with class stories and side quests. The time that it must have taken to put together all the voice work alone was mist impressive to say the least and if that wasn't enough, there are eight class stories to follow altogether as well as the minor differences when taking a side quest as a different class or even a group. It was clear to me that the team at BioWare/EA worked hard to make the game as immersive as possible and it worked. As I progressed through my first class I began to expand into other areas such as PvP which when I was first playing seemed like a decent system that was structured around a sort of rock paper scissors style of combat and that all classes needed each other. Why did that change? Why is winning a match now based on which team has better healers and the classes with the most stuns? More importantly, why was my skill setup nerfed? I ran and still run a vigilant Guardian. I had a 1/3 critical hit chance and had to know when and how to strike not just spam Force Sweep and hope for the best. Why after 2.0 did you take that away from me? And yes, you the developers took that from me. You nerfed my gear I worked my butt off earning and stole my critical hit chance and THEN made me have to grind for new gear. Issues with the current gear system Besides stealing what was rightfully mine, you then increased the heal output of healing classes- now first I want to say that in general, a PvP system based on gear grinding is a horrible system. Those of you reading this who are about to reply with "learn to play" or "you just suck" go ahead and say your piece if it makes you feel good, I don't care. There is NO skill in a system that is generated by banging your head against a wall all day to increase your stats with gear. And if that wasn't bad enough, why do I have to grind for a specific type of gear? Why is it not universal endgame gear? What if one day I want to run an operation but I can't because my operations gear is too low and no one will take me? And on that note, grinding PvP gear means I am dependent on getting a team that has at least half the people fully geared and I also have to hope that some of the opposing team players aren't geared either otherwise it is a one sided game. Before anyone challenges this, I will tell you right now that before I made the cross over to 55, I had cull gear for one of my characters, most of which I crafted myself and was placing in the top of the bracket at the end of each game. So don't tell me I'm not skilled or don't know how to play. I know the game well. I've played all other classes and know their strengths and weaknesses. This isn't skill based combat. This is bang your head against a wall until your gear is better than another player's. What skill is involved when all you have to so is have a better rating than someone else? My best guess is the skill to bang your head against a wall until it's numb and if you can do that, then good for you. Galactic Disappointment When GS was released for early access I thought it was going to be amazing. I thought for sure it was going to be a skill based combat system that based on flight mechanics and that buffs would only give you a slight advantage and that overall flying capability what counted- then it happened... permastunned... and as if that wasn't bad enough, the Bomber class is a healer? A HEALER IS SPACE!!!?!!??!?! That is what made STO so lame. So here you guys had a potentially great combat system that now is going to become plagued with the same problems as ground combat. I mean way to take what could have been a great system that was skill based and just defecate all over it. I seem to remember someone who once made three good Star Wars movies and then years later crapped all over them with his prequel trilogy. Way to follow suit and take something that could have been great and ruin it. While your at it, you should give Sorcerers healing lightsabers cause you know healing blasters and cannons wasn't silly enough. Also change their lightning abilities to heal as well and rename the entire tree "Defibrillator" spec. Also if the Operative could get their airstrike ability changed to one that AoE heals allies and permastuns enemies, that would just be perfect... I why not make these changes? Combat is all about heals and stuns now anyway and you're going to take those same problems and bring them to space. I honestly feel I could go on and on and I kind of want to, but in writing this, I realize I could be doing better things with my life or at the very least playing better games that release more PvE content, which by the way, is this game's strongest area. And don't tell me with the powerhouse of EA backing you that you guys can't create more class stories because you can. For some reason you don't want to. Concluding Suggestions I'm going to leave a few suggestions, some of which I hope to see before I permanently step out of the door come June. 1) Revert the PvP engine back to the way it was before 2.0. None of this invinciheal bs. 2) Universal endgame gear. Whether one player does Ops or PvP gear should be the same across the board. None of this having to grind one or the other leaving players to decide how they will spend their endgame time 3) More class quests. You have the money and the resources. Do it 4) Remove permastuns and do not add heals to GS 5) It's time to pull another BioWare. You guys already have done great things and it's time to do something great again. Here's what I'm thinking: Cross-Class character and story interaction. That's right, I'm talking about expanding the story into other classes and having our characters interact with each other. Obviously if someone doesn't have a character from another class, then a generic one would be used in its place. Sure, there are things to consider, challenges to overcome, but is it really beyond you? I would hope that this would eventually lead to a shift in the gameplay where you can run two characters at the same time in a style sort of like the original KOTOR. Sure, it's something that would be tough to do and would take time to implement, but is it really beyond you?
  14. I agree with the OP completely. This game relies on stuns and heals. What is the point of doing DPS if I can't kill anything? Before 2.0, healing was more of a buff and not this impervious BS it's become as well as the the overstun it's become. Learn to play? Yes because it's so damn hard to pick up a class such as Operative and stun spam all day. What great skill that class possess. This is Star Wars and as such the game should be structured around that, but it's not. It couldn't grow into something unique. Instead it's become a cliche MMO play-style for PvP that is just getting progressively worse and worse. Unless BioWare pulls their head out from the far reaches of their butt and fix the system more and more veteran players are going to quit and you'll be left with a game overrun with F2P trolls and idiot players.
