  1. I did have a Female alt on WoW. She had a 300 cooking skill.
  2. Thanks. I just learned that the missions fail sometimes too
  3. I'm just figuring out this whole crew skills and missions thing, so I may be a noob. I'm trying to figure out what all the complaints are about. I just sent my guy on a mission that costed 95. He returned with a lockbox that had 181 credits. I sent him on a mission again that costed 95, and he came back with a lockbox with 125 credits, AND an Energy shield schematic. Am I missing something ?
  4. It's showing up on my map. When I mouse over it, it is highlighted, but I can't do anything else with it. Logging in and out did not help.
  5. Yeah, and I think they had that in there from the beginning too, plus, you could interract with every single NPC. Maybe not talk, but you could select them and hear them make a grunting noise or whatever. lol. Plus, they had Gamon!
  6. How did it "backfire" on them? Did a bunch of people cancel because of maintenance? I think there are more pressing issues than maintenance times. They can't please everyone. The downtime will always be "encroaching" on someone's play time no matter what. I think WoW took all their servers down at the same time at first too. I'm not sure of their schedule now though. They might separate the downtimes sometime down the road. Yes, I am pissed when the servers go down, but I get over it pretty quickly. They are up now, so I'm going to play.
  7. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually worked on a big MMO as to what exactly goes on during MMO maintenance periods, outside of game patches, from a technical standpoint. Just out of curiosity.
  8. Would bad things happen if it were done monthly rather than weekly ?
  9. Are you saying that the same planet is different depending on which side you are on when you go there? If this is the case, then it would seem like this feature is easy to implement this type of system.
  10. lol, you make it seem like there is some kind of universally agreed upon litmus test that can authoritatively determine "whether an MMO is a wow clone". The control scheme for movement is similar, but that's about where it ends. Have you even played? Everything else is just similar stuff you would expect in any MMO, even ones pre-dating WoW. I think this one just needs some polishing. I'm actually looking for a good WoW clone. Vanilla WoW that is. I miss MC raiding for epic gears ;/ There's just something about getting 40 people together and being successful after all the wipes that I haven't felt since they put out the first expansion to that game.
  11. What "no raids" stance did they have that they retracted on ?
  12. I was finally able to get somewhat of an answer from a mod as to why these types of posts get deleted.
  13. It only shows players CURRENTLY online. Sorry if I didn't make that more clear.
  14. woah. Where do you live? $15 an hour is baller status where I'm from. Most people make around $10 an hour around here. $15/month is a good price point. Let's not give them incentive to start raising the prices now. Anything more wouldn't make development any faster, trust me. They are making plenty of dough at $15.
  15. From what I have gathered, the "Full" servers can handle between 1800 and 2300 players. I made a thread on how to calculate this here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=80346
  16. The atmosphere of the game so far just feels kind of dead and static, like some arcade adventure game, lol. I agree about it feeling like you are locked into a certain path. It seems like most of the budget went into story and voice acting, which gets kind of monotonous after a while. Having choices in a conversation is cool, but there are other games that do a much better job: i.e. Deus Ex: HR. I am still enjoying the game though, and I'll see if there is still stuff to do when I reach level 50.
  17. the other swtor.exe process is a child of the original swtor.exe process and it seems to handle only graphics hardware and directx operations. It doesn't do any kind of file or network operations. It's run with the command line swtor.exe "@RemoteRendererServer.icb" The original process has @swtor_dual.icb at the end of the command line options. This seems to be a script that starts some other stuff. There is also a swtor.icb file in the retailclient folder. I'm guessing if @swtor_dual.icb is replaced with @swtor.icb, it will use only one process, but I don't at the moment have a way to try it out, since the command line options passed are way too large to run using the windows run dialog or the cmd line (mainly because of the HUGE password hash), so I'll need to find a way to run or program another launcher.
  18. I just checked "the other" mmo, and this feature is indeed there. I never thought of that feature or knew it existed. I usually just hold the left mouse button, but I do see how this can be useful while kiting to free up the mouse button and it is definitely something I would do.
  19. Search only returns the players of the same faction, so you need at least 2 characters.
  20. Oh man, you see what I did there? My lame attempt at trolling. Edited lol.
  21. Not sure if something like this has been posted before (no search feature on the forums) Simply type /who into the chat box, and enter the biggest number range that gives less than 100 players (It seems the search results limit it to 100). The number range will return the players online playing at the level of whatever range you input. Example: 1-10 returns 89 players. 11-15 returns 88 players, and so on, until you reach 50. You will need to create a character on both sides to get complete results. Here's what I found so far. This is @ around 3:30pm EST Server: Sword of Ajunta Pall Empire players: 1271 Republic players: 577 Total: 1848 Server: Prophecy of the Five: Empire: 1625 Republic: 595 Total: 2220 Interestingly the Prophecy server was listed as Full, with no queue, while the other server had over 300 less players, but had a queue. (about a 30 sec wait time though) You can also type the name of a planet along with the level ranges. I've found that planets with more than 1 open instance usually have around 100 players in each. What are your results?
  22. Is there a way to change the time zone displayed on the forums? I can't seem to find the option anywhere.
