  1. I healed a group there once when, after wiping on that phase, the tank told the DPS to use the provided grenades to interupt unlimited power. Also on the 55 HMs it quickly becomes evident that so many healers don't realise that clense exists. I'm not sure how many times I've had to shout "CLENSE!" in chat on the final boss in Athiss.
  2. To the best of my knowledge threat mechanics have not changed. The difference is that 55 HM mobs hit much harder than 50 HM mobs so it’s more noticeable. It was always the case that if everyone else ignored mobs they’d pound on the healer. Sincerely, a tank and a healer.
  3. I throw out some DPS when I'm healing FPs, as long as it's sensible, but I'm a bit OCD in that I try and have the fight end with everyone at 100% health if possible. It's like a game within a game! When running on DPS sorc I'll do exactly that. I've thrown a shield on people many times (if the healer isn't a sorc) - it only takes a second, so the DPS loss is minimal. I think you misunderstand him. He's talking about (for example) DPS specced and geared players who queue as tanks without having any tank gear and without respeccing to tank.
  4. Just.... no. If you tone them down then everyone still won't enjoy them, because many will get bored of them. They can be challenging the first time, in an undergeared group, but they're far from too hard. I dread to think how easy (aka boring) they'll be once everyone is full 69+. There are plenty of level 50 FPs for that. The same applies for the core customer base. Bore them to death and they'll leave.
  5. Zero difference to you, irrespective of whether the tank and healer are having a hard time? You're playing in a group with set roles. It's extremely arrogant/ignorant to make the assumption that everyone's happy with you pulling. I'm becoming less and less tolerant of DPS who chain pull. I don't mind the occasional pull but those who do it constantly deserve to be left to die. Believe me, it's not much fun chasing DPS who are chain pulling, trying to snatch aggro off them because they're impatient. The tank dictates the pace. Don't like it? Enjoy queueing for another hour. I've seen DPS with this attitude running ahead pulling mobs with the tank still at low health and the healer's resource pool depleted. By all means, play how you like but don't start posting "where are all the tank?" threads on here when half your server has you on ignore. Your choice.
  6. Put them on ignore and console yourself with the fact that the DPS HM queue times just got longer I tanked Hammer Station last night with a very well geared Sentinel who pulled every trash group and barked orders in chat every two minutes (accompanied by a million exclamation marks each time). I let it go because I couldn't be bothered with the drama but the first thing I did at completion was add the idiot to ignore. I'm a tank, my groups pop instantly every time. When I play DPS I often have to wait for anything up to an hour. His loss.
  7. My experiences so far... Sage: Mostly geared now but collected a staggering four pieces from my first two 55 HMs. Sorceror: Clearly this is balancing out my Sage luck. I've run approx. ten 55 HMs and not picked up a thing. Vanguard: Two 55 HMs to date and I've picked up one piece.
  8. The only area this should present any trouble is with armouring, which is bound to slot, but even then you can still move a chest armour piece to any other chest piece.
  9. Too right. And, Customer Services, while you're at it, please ban all shops; they buy from manufacturers and sell at a higher price right away! Sensible answer: It's a free market, not a price-fixed one. In my experience they'll always be someone come along and undercut the lowest prices because they want a quick sell.
  10. On the flip side, before 2.0, Rakata re-usable stims were frowned upon for top end raiding by many people. So, even though you had Biochem you had to craft Exotech stims (at a cost) and use those. Now, you can RE the Nano-Infused stims to the point of being re-usable and effectively save money every time you raid (or run dailies etc with a no-cost permaboost). Useless? I've made several million profit since 2.0 by selling these on GTN... When the patch dropped I had a few hundred thousand creds. Took me a week to grind some crafting, hit 10m creds, and earn "The Wealthy" title.
  11. It's not a puzzle. If it was like the pylons in EV that'd be fine, but it is literally just pressing a button. His complaint is valid. The fights themselves don't need four people, because they're not that hard. I've been in groups where we've got all the way to the end and had to spam chat for ages to get someone to come all the way in, press one button and then complete the H4. For them, the easiest H4 they'll ever do...
  12. You're doing something wrong (especially with rest XP and boosts!). I suspect you're skipping side missions. If you try and level just using class missions with the odd side mission thrown in, you will find yourself behind. Pick up all the missions and you'll be in danger of overlevelling content in no time.
  13. The tank dictates the pace. That was the point - the 5 level/gear difference and not being guarded. Having said that, rarely is something black and white. It's not always the DPS' fault if they pull aggro in the same way that it's not always the tank's fault if they lose it. Before v2.0 I healed a group in TFB HM where the DPS kept pulling aggro off the tank on the first boss. We wiped. A couple of times. So, DPS reigned it in and held back. Guess what happened? We hit the enrage timer because of poor DPS output and wiped. The tank then rage quit and we cleared it first time with a replacement. You can't categorically state DPS are "terribads" (especially if you're older than 12) without looking at the tank's performance in relation.
  14. Predictable response which I should have expected I guess, however, I thought people might look beyond that to the obvious five level gap. How do you manage aggro when you cannot drop one aoe attack without pulling everything, even after giving the tank time to build threat? Sure, don't use aoe etc (lol)... but tanks have a secret ability called taunt that works wonders. I run all three roles so am perfectly aware of managing threat, thanks very much, but if you were my tank and couldn't hold threat for two consecutive groups then I'd be more than happy to be ignored.
  15. I don't doubt that, and agree completely, but many healers scream out to be guarded in chat Went into a lvl 50 HM the other day playing DPS. Both me and the other DPS were level 55. The tank and healer were level 50. Guess who got guarded? The healer. Meanwhile, the other DPS and I took turns in tanking...
  16. Agreed. I've had several tanks recently (when I've been healing) who would run from pack to pack, not allowing their health to recharge so he starts a new fight at, say, 80% health when I still have a depleted resource pool.
  17. I was surprised to see this in the patch notes, but just the other day after being killed by Malgus' "unlimited power" cast, the tank told the dps to interupt it using the grenades picked up at the room entrance
  18. Absolutely, I wasn't clear in my wording.
  19. Unless it's changed, healing generates x0.5 threat, DPS x1.0 and tanking x2.0. A tank really has to drop the ball to lose threat to a healer.
  20. Maybe it’s because I’m used to face rolling the old HMs and the new ones are less forgiving in current gear but I’ve noticed some laughable players recently. My recent tanking favourite was the Vanguard who would run into a mob pack (maybe he thought using Storm was lazy) using the basic attack to grab aggro. Needless to say he never kept it very long. I abandoned group after a while because someone so fundamentally clueless cannot be helped over the course of one HM and I wasn’t gonna hang around for half an hour for a new tank. I’ve seen lots of tanks who also like using aoe taunt as their opener. What a waste – you’re multiplying the existing threat (which is 0) by, likely, 130%. All you’ve done is given them a little tickle. The tank above would have generated more threat with his 1-spamming. Some tanks still seem to struggle with the concept of turning the final boss in Hammer Station away from the group. Clue: The sweeping blaster attack hits the whole group and really hurts. Yes, the rest of the group can move but it’s tidier when he’s turned and you’ll always get someone (normally a DPS) who will stand and take the damage. As DPS I got murdered on the first boss in Athiss yesterday. When the adds arrived they swarmed the healer, so I aoe’d them. The tank and other DPS ignored them and they charged me. Tanks are squishy enough at the moment and my sorcerer definitely is, so it took seconds for five or six of those big dogs to tear me a new one. Admittedly, my nice shiny new god-mode shield would have been perfect but I’m not used to relying on it yet and didn’t deploy it in time. Healing these new HMs (at the moment) is much harder than before. If you get a badly geared tank you know you’re in for a tough run – on some pulls they can die incredibly fast if you’re not on top of them. Pre-casting on them is a must. I’ve had several healers voluntarily quit group because they knew they were struggling too much.
  21. Buy the stacks I keep putting on GTN
  22. No nerf necessary. I had early access and rolled into the first one with 61/63 gear, as a PUG. Was it tricky? Yes. Did we wipe? Yes, about 5 times. However, once you've done it once it becomes much easier. I've run each of them about five times now and cleared them fine every time, many times as a PUG. It's nice to have to pay attention to an HM again to be honest. Wait until everyone in your group is 66/69/72 and, together with the practice, you'll be facerolling through it in the same way as you do with the level 50 HMs. Then people will complain they're bored and they're too easy...
  23. Looks like it might be the Elemental one after all: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=566591 Either way, Bioware needs to fix the descriptions.
  24. I'm looking at an Arkanian damage relic for my DPS Sorceror. I understood that the Elemental one was the correct choice (Arkanian Relic of Elemental Transcendence) but the tooptip says "tech damage", where I'd expect it to say force. Could someone confirm please? I know this has been done, but I can't find any threads with the answer. Also posted in the sorc forum, with no reply so I'm hoping this'll get more attention!
