  1. We're kind of op.

Myth: The Sorcerer has a high damage output

Truth: The Sorcerer puts out mediocre damage, at best. The damage output of the Sorcerer is surpassed by the Assassin, Operative, Sniper, and Mercenary by a long shot, and on a sustained scale, the Marauder as well.

This is anecdotal i'll admit, but I'm guessing your estimates are anecdotal as well, but so far i've never seen another class that can put out the damage I do as madness, unless they're significantly outgearing me, except for maybe ops but there are hardly any operatives on my server. I am definitely not out dpsed by any marauders, assasins, marauders, or mercenaries

Myth: The Sorcerer is all, or mostly, instant casts.

Truth: The Sorcerer relies on procs, if he's even specced that way, to instant cast. For the most part though, the Sorcerer is always dealing with cast times between 1.5 and 3.0 seconds, which are longer when the Sorcerer is taking damage. In his regular rotation, the Sorcerer only really has one instant cast: Shock. It does moderate damage.

Everything i'm doing is either instant or channeled, except for heals / cyclone. Madness has a 30% proc chance meaning just about every full lightning channel I get a free cast. Not to mention our slow (which does damage btw), affliction, and creeping darkness are all instant.

Myth: The Sorcerer has high survivability

Truth: The Sorcerer wears light armor and his Static Barrier (the bubble) only absorbs a relatively small amount of damage, and the Sorcerer must wait for a lockout period to apply it again. The only time the Sorcerer's survivability is high is when he is in healing spec, which also means that his damage is even lower. By simply focusing a Sorcerer who is damaging you, you can pop his bubble, interrupt or lengthen his cast times, and effectively both lower his DPS significantly, and take him off the battlefield quickly. A DPS Sorcerer, unless ignored, will never last as long on the battlefield as a tank will, or even close.

Armor really does not do THAT much in this game, I'm not sure on this but It only seems like medium armor is a 5-10% reduction compared to light.

However, I can say that you are vastly underplaying the bubble, assuming you go into fights with your bubble already up it's incredibly beneficial and I would say makes us one of the most survivable classes, under the right circumstances. And as a dps, we SHOULDN'T be as survivable as a tank, that we're close is somewhat absurd.

Not to mention we have some of the best kiting abilities in the game between force sprint on a low cd, our instant slow, and our knock-back.

  2. At this point my track record kind of proves that I pretty much know exactly what I am talking about.

Nope it means you make some pretty easy calls that everyone else did as well.

    Two words for ya:

Master Strike - Our strongest melee ability can be interrupted.

Try every skill in my spellbook bar affliction

Also, we can't get knocked back? Really? That is odd... I am pretty sure I get knocked back plenty. I get knocked back, then I can't deal damage, then I am rooted, then I am stunned, then I am... You get the idea.
You know what I meant, your spells don't take twice as long to cast when you have a sorc beating on you like sorcs do with a mara beating on them- and every other class can be stunned and rooted just like you can.

Then they need to produce some maps that don't cater to ranged attacks.
    no argument here.
  3. I like how you say you're right about everything because you predicted a lot of inquisitors, but then you propose making jedis/sith warriors (the most played class on my server) stronger because you know, that wouldn't cause population imbalance or anything.

And the advantage is that melee instants don't get interrupted or knocked back like casted spells do.

There is only one advantage that ranged have in this game, and that's because of the maps, not the mechanics.

  4. I agree with the first 2 actually but #3 really? you just destroyed all CC abilities in the game.

4 and 5 and 6 are pretty much just QQing focus on the Sorc 1st if thier AoE spikes too much

Actually I just realized I kinda misphrased that, I mean usable at any time as in you wouldn't need to be CC'd to activate it, not that it would have no cooldown, if that's what you're wondering. 10 seconds of cc immunity on a 2 minute cooldown hardly ruins cc.

  5. This is just my mind-spew, but I think that this would fix a lot of the current issues with pvp

    1. level brackets

    2. make which warzone you queue for an option

    3. Unbreakable will makes you immune to CC for 10 seconds, and is usable at any time

    4. give CCs and knockbacks DRs

    5. If 4 doesn't solve the problem, increase the cooldown on some knockbacks

    6. (Inquisitor fix) Make it so crushing darkness is 100% dot, no initial damage, and make death field an area dot instead of instant damage, but to compensate for this pretty substantial burst nerf, make it so madness applies to heals & cyclone aswell. - Same with the JC equivalents to those.

    Your thoughts?

  6. I'm a sorc and i think that assasins/shadows would be just as overpowered if it weren't for the maps, as it stands right now most games, especially hutball, are better for sorcs than assasins.
  7. that's pretty subjective. i think its interesting. would you prefer straight ramps?

can you tell me what you think would make it good? and possibly do so without being condescending ?

I think the maps would be better if there were simply more cover on the catwalks, another way to get out of the pit, while replacing the flames with something like a part of the floor that is removed every once in a while and replacing the corrosive pit with some cover, as well as replacing the air vents with simple ramps.

Things like acid pits and flame vents are fun for about 5 minutes.

  8. Idk, I think it's problem is that it favors ranged, and the hazards can be extremely annoying. The gametype is a good concept, but I think it would be better on a different map.
  9. Youre a liar. Stop posing as a sorcerer trying to support your biased opinion. I've been playing mmos for over a decade and I pvp mainly and I'm pretty darn good at it and still don't faceroll everyone as you and other drones claim. You're lying.

    I pinky-promise i'm a sorcerer- for realsies.

edit: And if you really have been playing mmos for over a decade you'd realize that every single time a class is overpowered, people who play that class will deny it's overpowered. Every single time.

Try to think of this objectively, do you honestly think you would do as well as a different class? I don't think I would.

  10. I'll nam it. WoW. They merged hunters into uselessness for the same reason these fools want inquisitors nerfed. Because they refuse to put pressure in them. Let any ranged class stand back and fire away and you will die. Also alOt of the burst comes from other classes but I'd lightening is what they see, then that is what did it so now we are off to the forums to cry nerf.

Seriously. If they nerd this class or buff other ones to the point of making us a non issue, then im out. I will not go through that crap again. :(

I play a Sorc and even when people are putting pressure on me I generally don't have a problem doing stupid amounts of damage.

We're a dot based class with good snares, a speed boost, and a bubble.

If people are putting pressure on me, i'll do great. If people aren't then I'll mow through entire teams.

  11. I feel like healing in general is a bit low for pvp, but I'm also a lowbie so I can't comment on endgame.

It seems like it's impossible to out heal the damage most classes do, even if you were left to freecast (which is rarely the scenario).
