  1. And I just now read the patch notes. Holy jesus sentinel buffs, sents were already an amazing class in the hands of a skilled player before the patch... Once I get this patch downloaded this is going to be absolute slaughter.

    Nope. It's easier to kill ops, snipers, dps powertechs, marauders (w/o saber ward), dps assassins, and mercenaries. When you're playing a sorcerer that understands he's got the best mobility and control in the entire game then they're one of the toughest classes to land a kill on.
  3. Actually, I'm playing republic and I too notice that we generally have more healers than the empire does. I think the reason is that sages seem a whole lot more healer-y than sorcerers do. The back story, animations, etc all seem more healerish than their sorcerer counterparts, and I feel like this makes more people choose a sage to heal on, rather than a sorc. Could be the reason we've been winning so often.

Yes, really happy with 1.1.5 I think there's a bit of a problem with this thread though, a disproportionate amount of the people on the forums are going to be unhappy simply because so many people go to the forums just to complain, and they tend to be a lot more vocal than the majority of the playerbase.
  6. What you posted on the swiftsure isn't true, at least when I'm on the republic wins a good majority of the time - the empire is pretty awful on this server.

  8. Sounds like your friend has a major case of PEBKAC, the class is arguably the best dps in the game right now.
  9. Don't respec, as soon as you get overload/deadly saber anni is the best spec, it can still wreck at level 20. You didn't really give me much to go off of, but if you're undergeared that's obviously going to be a problem. Are you using your defensive cds a lot? Are you going about your priority right? How's your up-time? Are you overextending yourself?

  11. This is going to be game breaking if it's usable in rated war zones, it essentially forces people to roll the 50 with the ability you want to have edit: Thank god it's pve only.
  12. People always complain about op comps, but they seem to forget that pretty much every class had at least 5 glad viable comps every season.

    Actually, at least from the mock arena they did in smugglers den, the different comps were pretty balanced. One of the best performing 2v2 comps was focus guardian + smuggler. IF every AC has like 10 op comps you can't really complain about that.
  14. They didn't, it's just an excuse for people that don't want arenas. One extremely pve-oriented dev said that he thought arenas were a mistake... and since then everyone on here and their grandmother has reposted that soundbite, completely out of context. He said the problem was that the game wasn't set up as an e-sport, and trying to turn it into one made balancing difficult. Obviously, he's talking about balancing PVE, as he was an extremely pve oriented dev, and didn't like that he had to balance around arena as well as raids.
  15. Just curious, what exactly makes pyrotech better for pts than mercenaries?
  16. Maybe I phrased that a bit off, but pretty much any class will do well if the person is a good player, and they're well geared, but what I'm wondering is even with an amazing person behind the screen and great gear, would I be better off on a mercenary than a sniper?

So, for the most part the snipers and gunslingers I see in battlegrounds do pretty mediocre, but the same can be said for the majority of sentinels I see in battlegrounds, yet IMO at least sentinels are one of the strongest classes in the game. But I can't tell if snipers just have a really high skill floor, meaning most people will do bad on them, but once you pass a threshold they're a very strong class, or if the ones that I see doing well are just playing against bad players. I play alts a lot, and I'm thinking of making my next toon a sniper, and if the class is just difficult to play I feel like I could do pretty decently on it, but if the class is just mediocre in general and outclassed by mercenaries regardless of skill level I don't really see much of a point playing one.
  18. You... don't think sorcerers can burst? A 23/18 build has all of the cc listed here but in 3 gcds can pull off burst that's not really any worse than any other class in the game. With relic/adrenals up and lightning barrage procced, assuming everything crits, you can get 5000 (~1250 per tick) in 1.5 sec with force lightning, into a 5k chain lightning (With forked lightning), and a 3.5k Death field. Add to that crushing darkness / affliction ticks and you're looking at ~ 14-15k dmg in 3 gcds, 4.5 seconds. It's even less than that if you opt to pick up polarity shift. It's not the best burst in the game by any means, but to say the class can't do any burst is absurd (Not to mention, 8500 of that is AoE)

I'm assuming this is voidstar. 90% sure he's a rage juggernaut, they get an ability that makes their force sweep hit really, really hard with a bit of setup. 4 stacks of shockwave makes it twice as hard, and dominate gives it a 100% crit chance (Note that this is only possible every ~ 25 seconds). In the pre-50 brackets i've seen it crit for over 5,000. Add to this that it's an AoE ability, and since this is voidstar he was probably hitting 5-6 people with it each time. Doesn't take much imagination to see how that kind of damage can be wracked up.
  20. I've leveled a sorcerer to 50, if you're having trouble in the pre-50 bracket your problem is just that you aren't pressing force lightning hard enough. Go to the fleet, and respec. Make your talents look something like this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600ZZsr0Ro.1 and then you should never have problems anymore.

Grab the talent that removes the cooldown on TK throw... and then just spam tk throw all game and you're going to get top kills & damage the majority of the time, especially in the lower brackets. Seriously, until 40 you don't even need to apply your dots. As long as you've got gear on (It doesn't even need to be good gear) 2-3 tk throws will kill just about anyone in that bracket.
  22. The game isn't balanced around 1v1? If it were, everyone would be 31 point madness/balance, which is actually a very good 1v1 spec and very capable of killing any class bar assassins with LoS. People go hybrid sorc because it has a ridiculous amount of crowd control, AoE damage, and other team utility which makes it IMBA in group pvp, which last time I checked, is what this game is balanced around. AoE roots on knockbacks, force sprint, and PbAOE passive 3 sec mezzes on shield breaks make sorcerers the toughest class in the game to kill during a zerg. In a 5v5 fight it's much easier to focus down and slaughter any tank class than it is a sorcerer. And their amazing AoE burst and residual damage make them them incredibly tough to deal with if left alive. In a group scenario, which is what this game is supposed to be balanced around, hybrid sorcerers are broken.
