  1. Damage is damage no matter how you slice it. How you can say it is irrelevant is insane. While I may not kill someone outright I have put a hurting on them and allowed another person to mop them up. Just about every match I was the top and if not the top with in the top three damage dealers. I had just as many kills as others but my damage was far above. The key here is that while we do not do the killing we have weakened the enemy for another to easily go in take them out and keep moving. My goal was always to help those on the front line not to be the front line. DOT's can make a huge difference. Even more so now with the heal nerfs that are in place. People can also now only use one medpack. Makes that pesky DOT a whole new dish to deal with. A really good scorceror knows that the best thing is not to tab spam affliction. Not to mention that if you are madness your life is DOTs. Sure you can spam FL but it does not do the bulk of your damage. You use that to get to your next time cast is an instant and put on your two DOT's then use your crushing darkness that is bolstered by your DOT's then rinse and repeat. Maybe some shocks thrown in from time to time. But that will push you over the top in damage. You will leave people with one volley at less than half health but I can see how this would be considered nothing since they are not dead. But ask your team mates would they rather fight someone down from full health or fight someone that is crippled and I bet I know what the answer will be. Damage is never irrelevant!
  2. I think that this idea of wanting to solo content comes from multiple angles. I know I am tired of finding a group only for it to go no where. People going afk or people running out of time and have to leave. Then you have to make sure everyone wants to do the same thing instead of people running this way and that. I also like to solo because I want to be able to do what I want when I want and in the order I want. If I am in a group I have to do what everyone else wants to do. There is no running off to town at a moments notice to go train or look for better gear on the GTN. There is also a problem based on servers. I know my main server is dead. You are lucky to run into anyone leveling a toon. Everyone that is there is 50 if they even bother anymore. I might run into one maybe two people a night and planet wide I can look and it will have maybe 5 people on the entire planet. So at those points it kind of takes away grouping. But top reason is I like to know what I can do on my own.
  3. As you asked for a level 15 medium armor with blue re comparison Orange- +26 end, +13 cunning Blue- +16 end, +16 cunning, +9 crit So straight out points yes orange has only 39 compared to the 41 in blue. But at level 15 you are giving up 10 points in endurance to gain 9 critical. This armor is going on a sniper but at level 15 the endurance can come in more handy than 9 in crit.
  4. This is not always the case though many people would like to believe it. I have had an orange armor back when I did syntweaving. I had all green same level modifications on it. To make a compareable chest piece it had to be at least a purple of the same level. I have had a lightsaber that was an orange and could not find anything that even came close at the same level. Orange is actually superior when moded at the same level as a crafted item exception being purple. Now think about how many crew missions you need to run just to get the components to make said purple compared to just running some missions and finding the commendations to get the blue mods for orange items for well essentially doing nothing but normal leveling. Not to mention that you have to wait a while between items like say a chest piece. You make a chest piece then have to wait how many levels before you can wear the next one? (loot drops and mission rewards not included here) versus an orange that you can level up as you level. Even loot drops and mission rewards pailed in comparison to my armor I always took the comendations. Orange items make crafted items essentially obsolete. I have to spend no money to make a better orange item. If I take cybertech like I did on my 50 jugg I could make my armor mods to go into them myself just from collecting the nodes and killing droids. Again free upgrades about every two levels. I could also make modifications. Only thing I needed were enhancements and at two commendations I could keep armor totally up to date and better than crafted at that level. Edit follows: In game made an orange and modded it and compared to a green of the same level. Orange all green mods level 15 Orange- Hardweave jacket +21 end, +15 cunning Green- Stealth jacket +18 end, +14 cunning (other green level 15 were 16 and 16 for stats)
  5. I have seen people saying that orange items kept up are supposed to be compareable to the items of that level. So far from what I have seen my orange gear even if not kept totally up to date is still superior to anything that is say up to 4 or 5 levels more. So was it just that I have not seen anything that was done well or is it really just better to orange your character out and not look back? If the oranges are that nice then what is the point of the synthweaving, amormech, and armstech crew skills. I would as I have done on my jugg just take cybertech for the armoring, mods, earpieces, and other items. Or bio for the med packs and stims that I could make and not be spending say 3000 credits an hour to play. Even artifice for the enhancements and crystals. Only real use of the others seems to be to gear up companions but who will pay top credit to keep them up to date? I have seen people at level 50 with geared companions still in the 25 range. But then I see them saying that they are going to make it so people can crit on making items in 1.2 and make the item orange instead. Well what good is that since all oranges are the same just the look is different. Right now half the crewskills in my eyes are worthless and they need to really look at how orange items impact the game. But then making it so even more orange items will be out there..... not the answer I was hoping for. Makes for one shot sales and not repeat sales at various levels. What is your take on orange items and the impact to crewskills now and in the future?
  6. Ok either this person needs to really try and learn threat mechanics in this game or he is trying (poorly) for troll of the year award. But his other post just proves somethings to me. I mean delete is on one side and play is on the other. Not to mention that most people just do what I do and double click the toon and they are off on a space adventure. But let's for one moment suspend a slight bit of disbelief on the hit the wrong button. You actually had to take the time to type in delete. I mean you manually hit the d-e-l-e-t-e keys and while doing this it never occured that you never had to type anything in at this point to play your character before or that you just typed in the word delete? Sorry but customer service in this case made a huge mistake in giving you back your characters. As far as I am concerned you had plenty of time to not hit that final button and understand what you did. But coming here and telling us immortals to learn how to play our class because we suck at agro.... More like dps for all your groups was epic failure. If you are not a dps and you are a healer and you died you might also want to shift blame to dps or yourself. Tanks have hands full until the pulls are over. One may get away from us and we do not notice but have you ever yelled to get the groups notice? When I played healer if I took agro I stayed put I yelled to get the groups notice and prayed they paid attention while trying to still keep the tank standing. First job of dps is nuke down the little nothings while we hold silver and gold agro. They go down fast but can still put out a ton of damage on us. Then you go after one yes one of the elites then the other. Healer should really only need to heal tank with a slight heal to dps from time to time for aoe damage they may take. So to me a leap with a smash then tab hitting with higher threat abilities grabs the agro. Once I have it then it is not hard to keep it as long as people are not all zerglings and going each after their own target going full tilt on each of them. That is dps failure not tank failure. Healer not letting people know about agro on them is healer failure not tank failure. So sounds to me it is learn your class or give blame where it belongs. Our job is the easy part. Get the agro keep the agro and pray the healer does not scream out of force or over heated. You do one of two things. You either work as a team or you die as a team. It is hard to do both if you are doing things right.
  7. I kow that it is a mirror class but tbh when I read a sith forum I usually do not expect to see rocks flying around in a video about playing the class. Not to mention that newer people that have not played the republic side will have no clue what so ever as to what skills should be used as the mirror. Just saying.
  8. http://images.wikia.com/ladygaga/images/3/33/Rita_repulsa.jpg Then look at the level 50 PVE assassin sets and you tell me that they do not look alike.
  9. I wish my server had your kind of luck. Most people and guilds are jumping off my server like it has the plague. We have hardly anyone on republic side. I made one got to 10 and qued up for pvp 3 hours later I logged off with not even one match. Reason was that we have hardly any republic players and those we do play only pve. On the empire side the only thing you ever play is hutt ball. Let me tell you it gets very boring very fast. We used to have a bunch of guilds now we are down to I think three guilds for empire left. Our server is about to go under. It used to be a heavy server. Now it is standard for peak and light off peak. Anyone that knows this syndrome it means if you are lucky for peak you will see maybe 10 to 20 people in a zone. Most of the time I do not even see anyone else. I could out of playing a long 8 hour session maybe see 5 others while playing this does not include the station that used to be crowded and is now a ghost town. They really need to merge the servers soon because I know tons of people that have already said they are not going to keep playing a single player game and that is what our server feels like anymore. I did not understand the need for the sheer number of servers they made in the first place. It is just insane.
  10. If you look around the game you will see a lot of things that come from power rangers. I mean even the R2 type units has the go go power rangers done in beeps. Assassin armors and someone even posted a picture looks just like the evil lady out of power rangers. No offence but I think that show is just straight out dumb but to put so much reference to a kids show in the game makes me kinda sick. I want to destroy every little R2 type unit in the game and forget trying to level a jedi knight because you have it with you all the time and I keep hearing it over and over. I was sure they had even said there would be no outside references but wow it is blatant that they are in there everywhere. You can see them in names in armor sets in sounds. Not just power rangers either but tons of other things. (sorry I just have a thing against power rangers)
  11. I only bring it up because I went to help her finish a heroic and she was killing faster than I was and like I said I am geared and speced damage. But she was also watching where I would do an attack and hit for 800 damage and only 200 of it would actually register. I know that they do not want one hit kills but what is feeling powerful when the only thing is that you just block or dodge or absorb damage but kill slower than someone in the right level range. I can take out elite wampa's on hoth and keep on ticking but elites on dromund kas take me longer to kill...... a little lopsided. lol But thanks for the clear up on the display bug. I thought maybe it was because lightsabers were not blocked as much as blasters so they needed more power or something.
  12. Ok then explain it for the same thing being on my marauder. He also has a laughable difference. Granted he is only 32 but he has the same exact damage range as my jugg has and has less than half that a bh has. edit: forgot to add that powertechs are also tanks and off tanks so the difference has nothing to do with tanking or not.
  13. I find it odd when I look at two different character sheets the wide spread damage. My wife has a level 14 powertech BH with a single blaster pistol. When she opens her character sheet she does from 800 to 1200 damage. Then I look at my level 43 damage focused jugg. Tons of strength and power and he does 300 to 400. Are you kidding me? Now I know it translates well in game that one is just about balanced with the other but just looking at the numbers it tells me if she stacks accuracy than she is going to be able to decimate in damage comparitvely if you go by the numbers. Anyone know why there is such a wide spread between damages on the character sheets?
  14. I am making an assassin for the first time. Would like some tips about playing them best level progression for trees and what not. Tactics would help as well. All I can think of is a rogue from WoW with the hiding and all but been told it is not even close. All the threads I seem to find focus on PvP even the guide at the top of the page focuses on PvP. I need to know how to play it in PvE in order to level I will worry about PvP once I actually learn the best way to play this class. So please any advice would be great.
