  1. I dont have to be qualified to look at something say it sucks. Do you have to be qualified to look at a car and call it a car? Do you have to be qualified to look at a piece dog crap and determine that it is indeed a dog turd? Didn't think so. It doesn't take any sort of qualification to look around at these forums and see that everyone (not just a handful of people) are not happy with the game and its performance.
  2. I can to comment on it ive played it several times! Its been out in korea for a year. And its in open beta here if you preordered. We aren't talking about the game, we are talking about how it runs. And I am saying its very very smooth no fps lags even when theres 50+ people on my screen pvping. And the graphics are miles ahead of swtor. And its not instanced to the point where you feel like your playing by yourself occasionally seeing someone else lol. Theres people EVERYWHERE all over the map. Thats my point. better performance, better graphics and better responsivness in general. Blade and soul is another mmo coming out that runs on U3. in fact I think just about every asian mmo dev is using U3 to create their mmo's at the moment. Or a good majority of them.
  3. Pretty much this ^^ They dug themselves a hole with this engine. I am almost certain EA forced them to launch at christmas because they were getting impatient waiting for them to try and figure things out and wanted to get a profit off the game before it was to late.
  4. Then you look at games like tera that run U3 and its very very smooth, and graphically up to date with what you would expect in 2012 even though it released in 2011. Think blade and soul also runs on U3
  5. I want a fraps of you in ilum then because not one single person has said what you just said. Fraps with a fps indicator running on ilum or I call bs.
  6. Indulge me. Remember I said recent years so if you start popping off mmo's from the early 2000-2005 area im not even going to acknowledge your post. The point im making is theres more advanced engines out there that run mmo's smoother and better out there and other mmo devs are using them. Swtor is literally like the first big mmo using heroengine. And so far people are not impressed with its performance.... or are you saying 1-15 fps in ilum pvp is good performance lol.
  7. Just to piss us off. Its sad when a new mmo comes out and the number one issue in the forums is the game engine and performance lol.
  8. Extra expenses = the voice actors What was the most expensive mmo created? Many say its this one. My source: Although BioWare has not disclosed development costs, industry leaders and financial analysts have estimated it to be between $150 million and $200 million. If accurate, this would make it the most expensive video game ever developed.[12][13] The game had 1 million subscribers within three days of its launch, making it the world's 'Fastest-Growing MMO Ever', compared with rivals such as World of Warcraft.[14] Many other sites say the same. Did they say VA's are contracted somewhere? I heard different results about profitabilitie I could have swore they said 800k subs would be ideal and would be profitable. Maybe I misread? Link source please . Edit: nvm I found that one, however does that mean hes talking about sustained developement or profitable in the sense that all they have to do is keep the servers going and it will generate profit? More people are buying and subing. (case in point: you are still here ): I long term subs are the main concern not short term return. And I am stubborn thats why I am still here lol.
  9. Reviews and the reason it failed have nothing to do with my post. I am simply saying they could do it with about a year of dev time. Not sure what you found funny. Its time for school though you should get going.
  10. Theres also one on tat in a free for all zone.
  11. Okay we all know this is the most expensive mmo made to date. So it goes without saying it is probably the most expensive mmo to make new content for because bioware chose a model that requires them when creating new content to pay voice actors to act it out. This creates additional strain on the games dev budget and content dev time. If this game drops to something like 500k subs how do you think that will affect our experience in getting new content specifically pretaining to new class stories and general advancement of the game as a whole? They have created extra expenses that may or may not effect the longevity of this game if it is not a million + subs. Discuss.
  12. If its still limping along 3 years later that is. Without major changes I dont think this game is gonna go very far.
  13. Ya I dont see swtor surviving both their launches especially when so many are having problems. How many games in recent years was the main complaint about the game, the game engine and game performance? None come to mind. Bioware dug their hole and I dont think they will climb out of it with new gen mmo's launching this year that are actually offering something new and innovative. Tera lacks quest immersion but they make up for it with the combat/pvp systems. GW2 has voice overs and immersive questing and events that actually change the world your on. They also have a unique pvp system that is realm vs realm vs realm on a massive scale. They are actually being innovative if you ask me swtor just ripped off 90% of its game from wow and added voice overs + story and called it a day. Theres nothing really innovative about it lol.
  14. Remember people saying things like this 3 months ago.... i cant help but laugh at all those spouting the patience line.... where are they again? Oh right unsubbing =.=
  15. To add to my above post it would take a year or so to move this game over to unreal engine 3. They have vast experience with it already (mass effect series). All the assets for swtor are modeled already, all the texturing has been done.... all assets are there they would just have to port it all over to a new engine. Square enix is doing the same thing with their newest mmo which was a complete failure. Their timeline for putting the game on a new engine and fixing the game is one year. There is no reason bioware cant do the same.
  16. My dear gamer, it is being addressed! Very low shader setting and killing ilum pvp! Thats their solution to everything. Rather then fix and optimize they would rather divert you to instances to pvp (warzones) and dumb down the settings even more. The devs working on this game bit off more then they can chew when they chose hero engine. And they didn't choose it for the performance and smooth play they chose it becuase it allowed them to work at the same worlds all at the same time from different areas around the world. They chose the engine based off that one feature from the sound of it based on interviews with them and the hero engine lead designer. Was a poor choice and they are paying for it now.
  17. Oh i dont blame the aussies at all. Given the choice id pick a server in the same country as well for lower ping.
  18. Actually there has been a sharp decline in our population this week. Right now republic fleet is sitting at 120 people. 3 weeks ago that was 220-240 people. I can only see it getting worse from here, and the final nail in the coffin for these 2 servers is no doubt going to be when aussies can transfer off in a month or two. It was declining before the aussie servers went live, but those servers going live just made it worse. Oh and its really a dick move by BW only giving aussies the option to transfer when they know damn well that they make up most of the server. They weren't even supposed to have the game yet but they get a freebie transfer while NA gets a dead server and a forced reroll? Right thats some sound logic if I ever saw it /facepalm.
  19. Thats a perfect example of a dead server that should be scooped up and plugged into a heavier server. 4 people on a planet thats really not a mmo feeling. Maybe for one thats several years old and its a very secluded zone that not many go to in the first place but a main quest area for leveling is just wow when the game is only 2.5 months old you know. Sorry m8. I rerolled ajunta pall today from the swiftsure in hopes that it wont be dieing anytime soon.
  20. Well see thats okay though. As long as the "big updates" are good and draw people back to the game it will actually grow. These first few months are the most difficult for new mmos because people see every flaw and are very critical. If that first major patch that comes out fixs some major issues while adding to the game then it becomes a easier fight as you go. People will always complain no matter what but as devs keep adding big things like UI scaling, /roll, you know the small things that people just hate not to have I think the game will grow IF they can keep people engaged after 50. Thats a whole nother discussion though.
  21. The main issue we are facing is the vast amount of servers and the fact that there are so many planets and zones to spread players out even more. It gives the feeling that your not playing a mmo but more like a SP co-op game. Its discouraging. But there are legit complaints there are servers losing people and dieing a slow death.
  22. Well you know what the problem is bioware thought it would be a good idea to stick the worlds population right in your face on the UI. So now when people play they look at that number as they play.... and as time goes by see the number drop day to day week to week. For people that play nightly for several hours it becomes very apparent that populations are falling as time goes on. When i go to voss and theres 2 people there 3 counting me I say to myself wow.... thats it? Not even enough to form a group and do the content here. See where people are coming from? Its not about finding fault with the game its seeing a game that threw way to many servers out at launch then seeing how many people aren't there and how that number is DECREASING not increasing day to day. Now some servers this may not be true some are growing but thats mainly from people ditching their dead servers and moving. Not to say they are all new subs. Some probably are but some probably are rerolls.
  23. Well yes and no. It went from 900 person que to no que to very heavy to heavy... It only hits heavy maybe one hour on the weekends now. And is light during the day. 3 weeks ago this was a server that was heavy during the day and ramped up from there. That is a pretty big drop in population if you ask me. then throw on top of that the aussie players that left this week. our fleet has gone from having 240 people at prime time to maybe 150. Sitting at 66 right now. At primetime it will probably ramp up to around 120ish but thats a 50% drop in population over the month of feb. Sorry but that concerns me as a player when over half the people that normally play dont play. Of course some probably moved to aussie servers. But I know alot of them stayed for the simple fact their guilds are international and the overall ping for everyone is better then if they all moved to an aussie server.
