  1. I've been referencing operatives to this http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=625791
  2. There it is...it's not just PvP attitude. It's a general attitude and that was the reason I commented in this thread to begin with.
  3. Lotta "pro advice" here but not much help... OP, maybe you did not notice but the first time you enter Huttball you receive a new ability on your bar. If you have certain bars hidden then it may be on one of them and you could have just not saw it. I'd suggest key binding the ability and keeping it on a hidden bar, no reason to have it viewable really unless you are a clicker. It's instant and you don't need to see it to use it, just remember which button you bind it too and you'll be just fine. A circle shows up to illustrate where you are going to be throwing it...it will be highlighted green. You are all set, good luck!
  4. The title of this thread is highly generalizing of a genre of this games sub base and I can't help but call it out because it's an ignorant assumption. This generalization is completely played out. Just an fyi, you'll run into a-holes no matter how you play your game at some time or another. Your pretending like this only happens in PvP. You mean to say I can Q up for a FP/OP and not know any of the mechanics to it and expect my random teammates to be okay with that? Even if I say I'm new, if I stand in red and die and cause a wipe, they will rage at me and find someone else. If I don't interrupt the correct ability and it causes a wipe, I'll get raged at and booted. What I am getting at is that because you weren't prepared, and it's not all your fault because this game doesn't prepare people very well for the activities they are engaging upon, you were ridiculed and put down. I assure you, this is NOT a PvP only issue... P.S. If you screw up, don't worry about it. You are learning a new aspect of the game just don't get too hung up on what others say and you'll do just fine with experience and time committed.
  5. You are exactly right! After gearing out the past few days, things have definitely shifted in my favor as far as damage. Now, I just have to work on my delivery and execution of said damage Did I see you healing the other day? What's up with that?
  6. I like the idea. The only problem with it is that this ability is also viewed as an escape. How would you suggest they implement that into your concept of targeting someone to use it? I'm just curious as this was a good suggestion for an alternative which hasn't happened a whole lot here.
  7. Agreed. most teammates for me atm are Inquisitors/Warriors. I play an operative.
  8. As an Operative player, I don't really care to have this ability available to me. I'll use it and will get to the huttball quicker than my team but I really do not enjoy doing so. It's not what I think my role should be and t it doesn't really make sense for me to be doing this. I know that it is becoming expected of me, just like a marauder using predation at the beginning of most maps. The thing is, it's not the same as predation. Predation doesn't leave the marauder vulnerable to a certain destruction. Depleting my energy sets me up for failure. I see a lot of Operatives really enjoying this ability, I guess I am just the odd one out. I'm all for a gap closers but not with the ability to be abused in the objective based race of a warzone. Unfortunately, as an operative I feel it is now EXPECTED of me to fill this position when huttball comes up. Sure, I don't have to and yeah first possession doesn't always mean that it is game over but as a competitive player, I feel obligated to have to do this and it just feels counter productive to what I feel my role is in PvP. I don't picture myself, as an operative, being a front man. I'd like to see the ability reworked myself. 12m with no cool down seems overkill for me and I find myself over shooting where I really even want to be when I use it as a gap closer. The ability is okay but it feels extremely clunky and I think it could have been implemented a lot better. It could work like consumption and penalize the spamming of it. For example, use it once, no problem....use it a second time within 3-5 seconds, it goes on a small cool down and uses more energy...use it again and the next cooldown is longer and more energy is consumed until the debuff falls off you...and so on. What people say is right and I hate putting down a new ability for my class of choice but I too think this ability pretty strong. To those who act like it's a gift from his holiness, I wouldn't go that far. Again, as an operative I enjoy the addition of a gap closer but not like the one we got. I'll take the additional ability but would like it to be for me and more controllable and not for my team like in the huttball scenario. Also, when people say "it depletes" your energy, they aren't kidding. Unfortunately, I'm freakin useless when I spam to get that huttball, but that is what I feel MUST be done now to help my team win and that I don't like. I have to deplete my resource to have a competitive chance at getting the ball for my team? I'd prefer not to have it with this mentality. I'm sure a lot of operatives would disagree with me and that is okay. I'm not trying to say it's OP or that that it's fine as is, I'm just saying for me personally, I don't care for it but basically have to use it because even if I hate rolling to the objectives, the opposing team probably has someone who doesn't and therefore will.
  9. I have been going through the same cycle as you. In the lowbie bracket things really felt good but at 55 they don't. In the lowbie brackets, I was seeing 7k crits if not a little better followed by some good shots in with Laceration and Backstab. At 55, it is very rare if I get a crit on a player using Hidden Strike. When I do see them, they are 6500 or so. My fights are highly based off of RNG as an operative. If I come out of stealth with Hidden Strike and get the Crit I have a fighting chance of bringing my opponent down. If I come out and do not get the crit, which is a majority of the time, then it's a laughing stock for my opponent and rightfully so. Laceration, backstab, shiv, probe...they all hit hard and I'm not saying they don't but that first strike determines a whole lot for me. In the past two nights, I can't tell you how many people have emoted laughter in my direction because of what it must look like as I am working my bunz off to bring them down. Hell, I'd be laughing at someone having to try so hard but failing so miserably. I love my Operative but there have been a lot of battles these past few days I just laugh at myself thinking how I'm potentially bringing down the team and should just level one of my other alts because they all seem to support the team better than my Operative. I now have focused my efforts on Node guarding since that seems to be the hard thing to do for most teams but when I'm not guarding I'm out there trying to improve. I just feel like I am failing pretty hard and I am I can admit. I may get 350k dps with only 3-4 kills....that's pretty bad. My best game since 2.0 in the 55 bracket has been 410k dps one game however that's nothing compared to most other classes. I am accepting of this because an Operatives role, imo, isn't to be king of dps but to make smart decisions and support the team in disrupting nodes or bringing down healers or harassing threatening opponents that are carrying the opposing team. I'm not having much luck with this at the moment due to the randomness of WZs. Prior to 55 bracket, hitting 500k dps and killing people was nothing and I felt more beneficial to my team. I'm just waiting it out though because I think it's me having a lot to learn and the game working out kinks since the newest patch. I'm seeing what they do to adjust bolster and things like that while also moving forward with gearing him out. I've ran Medic for the longest time now and was hoping to try something different. I'll admit, I am not the best Concealment Operative and I am trying it for the first time myself so I am still learning. But just going off what the OP says, it feels completely different at 55 and below most other AC's currently. Part of me already knew this going into trying this out but was hoping it wouldn't be marginally noticeable as it has been for me. Laceration and Backstab feel really good though and can surprisingly do big hits. Overall I think the Operative has come a long way and is a lot better than previous patches. Right now, I'm just learning the ins and outs and hopefully can improve more on him.
  10. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=625791
  11. Spent an entire two matches chasing the same 31k Operative Healer around trying to bring him down. Sad thing was I could not put much of a dent in him and it got to the point he was using /say to "lol" at me. I will admit that it was funny but while it may have been humorous it also made me dislike the changes BW was trying to implement. I'm hoping with their methods of tweaking bolster that they will eventually get it right but I can't predict how long that will take. I am obviously not in full conqueror set so really don't know what I'll look like then but I will say that reading others comments about Underworld being better than Conqueror has got me thinking about how much effort I want to put into things right now. I guess I'll just have to see for myself and decide at that point. Not saying I should be able to take down every healer on my concealment operative but it definitely was no easy task to even try. A couple of matches later, got a PvE guy on our team....a medic operative too that I recognize from a PvE guild and he also has over 30k health...I think he put up close to a million with 2 deaths. I am all for adjusting the scale in PvP to make it more competitive for all but not at the risk of KILLING any real competition for others when this is all that they do, like myself
  12. Happened to me a few times over the weekend. I filed /bug report and posted on the forums. I also came across another guy who posted so I have been linking his post to those who want to bump it with their issue so BW may look at it. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=625791
  13. In the thread I linked above you, that is what the poster stated he had to do. I'd still file a /bug report in game and/or the Customer Service forum because it really needs a response. They may tell you to get a security key and you'll have to live with that if you want to play the game unfortunately. But at least you'll have your answer. Sometimes the most frustrating thing is just not knowing. Take care and enjoy yourself out there! P.S. I made the account name before I rolled Sith cheers!
  14. FIrst post I found with an issue like yours is here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=626259&highlight=time+password Will continue to update this post with more threads and hopefully something that works or clarification. For example, the poster in the thread above says his are incorrect because he thinks they are on a timer. Meaning by the time he gets the email, his password has already expired. Will keep checking for you though in case something new comes up. I'd still consider putting a thread in Customer Service though just in case.
  15. I will keep reading through other posts to see if anything comes across as helpful. Question though, how are you able to post in the forums if your one time password does not work? To login here you need a one time password right? Unless you have it set up in such a way where you are bypassing that. And your English typing is just fine I just misread your problem but I didn't follow it thoroughly enough because your issue is your passwords are not working not that you aren't receiving the email. You are in fact receiving it, it's just not working when you try to enter it in for some reason. I don't recall coming across this issue with anyone but maybe another read through them something will present itself. You could post a thread in the Customer Service forum and maybe a Game Admin/Dev will see it and respond. Currently this thread is in "General" and I'm sure admins see them but maybe not, who really knows? I posted in the "Customer Service" section the other night and got a pretty quick response. Unfortunately it was a default answer and this issue seems new so may have a delay on a response. Sorry to hear the bad news but will post here again if I come across something as well.
  16. I'm sort of running into the same thing. Here is one of the threads on it in the Customer Service section. Sadly, no response from BW on that one. I got a response from them when I first filed my report the other day to run the repair tool. I have done so and haven't had it happen to me but I also have not participated in many 55 WZs on my Operative as I have been leveling up my alts, so I'm not confident that it is fixed. Here is the link in the Customer Service forum if you want to bump it http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=625791
  17. So at first glance, you can see in the Customer Service section of the forums that a lot of users are having a very similar issue. One person in this thread http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=625471 was able to work around it by changing his email address....sadly. I'm not sure if this will be acceptable for you but I also came across this one http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=619991 Perhaps one of these can help you? Let me know if they do not. What I find strange is that I am not prompted for a one time password when I log into the game. I'll have to check with some friends to see if they are going through this. A quick search of "One Time Passwords" in the forums brought a lot of hits and while I do have to do this when I log into the site, I do not have to when I log into the game. EDIT: Hmm it apparently went into affect April 2nd. It appears if your IP address changes this flags BW/EA and they request you get a one time password for authentication. A security key would by pass this for you every time but pretty crappy that this was implemented without better customer service. My suggestion would be to do what the solutions say in the above posts or set up a security key on your account if you can.
  18. Hmm apologies for sending you to a bad link. It requires you to be logged in to check the status of that but I think I follow a little better now. You didn't set up this "Optional" security key because you trust your password so that makes sense. As for the one time password to log into the launcher, I am unfamiliar with this process. I do not have to do this and if you do and I do not, I am not certain as to why? I can tell English may not be your primary language so let me poke around a bit and see if I can find anything that may help you and I'll try to post it here. I know I have seen other threads with the issues of One Time Passwords but it has never affected me, except for logging into this site, therefore I am in the dark at the moment. Sorry for giving you the run around but wasn't sure if your issue would go beyond that. Again, I don't have to enter a one time password when I log into my launcher, just my username and password.
  19. The launcher has an "Optional" one time security key you can put in if you set that option up(you set this up on the main site https://account.swtor.com/user/security-key if you want to enable this on your smart phone or other option). If you did not enable this option then you don't need to enter anything there. You should just log in with your account name and password as you would on the site. Please post more if I am missing something?
  20. After the fiasco of last year I would not like to see more servers opened. If anything, an alternate solution could be the opening of ONE server for subscribers ONLY. Transfers to this server would be free for subscribers and the subscriber is able to transfer back to their HOME server free of charge as well in the future if they choose to do so. (This would mean server transfers were ready which they still are not apparently) At least from a PvP standpoint, this would solve the X-server rated Q posts in the forums but I don't think more division of players for this game will improve things.
  21. I had the same issue myself. Love both aspects of the game, prefer PvP over PvE though. Only joined PvE guilds because in order to get loot they want you to sign up(makes sense). But my heart is still always in PvP. I left my last guild on good terms and still talk at them but have been without guild ever since. I had the same situation as you, they'd see me PvP and want to roll with me but not without me. I had a group of friends that DO PvP regularly and they are who I usually go with but that was always in 50s as the guild never wanted 50 PvP, just lowbies. Now I understand your point. I guess it had not crossed my mind since I am guildless.
  22. Ahhhh okay this makes a lot more sense to me and makes the thread clearer. You have a division in PvP/PvE group of friends. Your PvE friends didn't PvP in the 50s you are saying? Hmmm, well hopefully once bolster is adjusted and a few weeks pass by maybe things will change and it won't be so bad. I hope so for you guys, we need all the PvP'rs we can get to Q!!
  23. While I am sorry for your loss I still do not understand why you are so negative towards your friends. EDIT: I now understand after seeing your post prior to mine. They suck you say? You are better than them? Why can't you help them get better and/or why does the bracket tier change affect this? People were fighting naked last night....NAKED. Any pressure you get out of PvP you put on yourself in my opinion. I get not wanting to team with people you think will bring you down but if you are friends with them and you like them why not help them? Your group could turn into a troublesome pre-made. Why am I saying this? Simple....I thought like this once before and hated losing. Honestly, I'd rather lose with friends than lose alone and I'd rather PvP with friends than PvP alone. While I will PuG and solo Q, and do enjoy it, I have 10x more fun with friends. Last night, for the first time since I can remember....I did not care who was on my team. I did not gear check them, because most were naked, I did not care if we had more mercs than an optimal composition USED to call for. It's lowbie PvP for one and for two, everyone seemed to really be able to do their own thing well. It wasn't organized but only 2 losses come to mind and this was me solo Q'd. I'd step back in and give your friends a chance, you may be surprised. Good luck to you guys!
  24. Well don't get me wrong, I did have a lot of good games last night and am not trying to downplay the bracket system. I actually enjoyed myself too. However, it did seem like objectives weren't being focused in regards to what I have been used too for a long time. I understand that and honestly, I can deal with it too. I just always find it funny how different the overall mentality of lowbies vs end game PvP. In lowbies, seems like people don't care as much....this does make it feel more relaxed but as an objective player some games really can frustrate a guy. Overall, I didn't HATE the bracket like i thought I would and was surprised that it wasn't worse than I remember but I still do find that lowbie bracket feels different even if it's just in my head. I meant nothing bad at lowbie brackets other than I prefer to be in the end game bracket personally and do look forward to that again.
