  1. The Emperor was a huge fan of "Classical" style from the Old Republic and sith empires. It goes along with him being a massive historian and researcher into the era (For POWER! of course). So, he used his considerable influence to bring the style and aesthetics of his empire more in line with his favorite time period. A real world example would be the fact that in many cities, Judicial buildings, churches and colleges all are built in the image of the classic Greek style.
  2. Which is a good thing. Mishandling of any of the pre-history empires would be glaring and painful. Rather than risk smudging, ruining, or insulting those groups, leaving them vague lets us debate, discuss, and imagine all on our own.
  3. Even if the two never meet, I think it might be advantageous to at least compare the two. The more we know the more that can be argued.
  4. An argument could be made that size is a defining characteristic of a soldier. Something small enough to be measured in inches, or by a few feet ( as opposed to meters), isn't really a soldier. I say this because nothing less than a droid, or an explosive will be able to effectively counter anything of that approximate size. It'd be like trying to shoot a bee with an assault rifle while soldiers in the enemy army tried to kill you.
  5. There is no other information on membrosia. The only information we have is its use on the black market. If the wiki doesn't say there was combat use, then there wasn't.
  6. Because we don't know exact numbers, I will write in terms of 1 on 1, 25 on 1, and 25 on 25 and assess each "breed" when compared to each Dark Trooper model. Rekker Aebea Qeeq Gorog
  7. Do Storm Troopers get to carry any number of the poisons/bioweapons made by Imperial intelligence?
  8. Considering the Phalanx is one of the oldest and, until firearms, the most used military tactic I would assume that was their basic programming. To assume otherwise would be to assume their creator, who was beyond genius, didn't program his droids to be able to utilize their own capabilities efficiently. We all laugh at battle droids, but they had amazing programming, considering our own technological limitations. I would object to anything being bigger than a human being considered "Ammunition" or a "weapon". 50 meters is a vehicle. Anything that can be ridden into battle should never be considered ammo or even a weapon; at the very least it should be looked at like a soldier. Though I'll be honest a 50 meter soldier is a huge stretch to even handwave. As a matter of fact:
  9. I raised the specialized subspecies argument already, Star, Beni nixed it. They are considered to have every variety of Killik that would have been found in The Grand Swarm.
  10. Considering the massive number of Killik breeds I think knowing the numbers/percentages would go a long way. I mean we could wax poetic about how x or y breed will fare in combat, but knowing how many of those breeds are in play allows for actual strategic comparisons. The Little swarmers themselves illustrate my point, if there are 15 swarmers for every killik, the discussion will be different than if there are 10 to 1, or 20 to 1 ratios. Under normal circumstances we could approximate the numbers using known military troop systems, but no such data exists for a mass of Killik Hives sending just soldiers.
  11. The difference is Membrosia isn't a weapon, it's a beverage the Killiks use to brainwash people. It is an extra item, something that is actually made by a certain type of killik. The key words being "Made by", as in manufactured, or supplied by. Its an object provided by non-combat units. As the Wiki says: What is a membrosia giver? A supply unit, not a support unit.
  12. Specialty items, such as Membrosia, whatever they built their hives out of, you know.. bug stuff.
  13. Which is why I would hazard Muur has to take the offensive if he wishes to have a chance at winning. Disease won't win this fight for Muur, so his forces have to go on the aggressive early action. He can kill the entire population of Taris, and his own troops will starve. So long as Jerec can secure food for four people, the IDD can keep chugging along. Aggressive Leviathan use is discouraged; every hole they make is a new one the IDD can shoot through. In the lower and Under City the PIs will be absolutely lethal, using phalanx formation with a single PII taking ranged shots at anything that tries to out-range the PI shields and swords.
  14. In an effort to help settle the Spider Droid debate, I went digging for images. I will be the first to admit, there is nothing that shows the droid climbing sheer surfaces, however, there is some support for the idea of a droid climbing surfaces less than 90 degrees. http://www.freewebs.com/qbanchief/SPider%20droid.JPG http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...nnendroide.png The Images above show a weak point in the droid, however, they also show the range of leg movement. It would seem that the bar which holds the leg can go up, down and side to side, letting it walk. This also indicates that the droid could move its' legs to an extreme angle, allowing the "ball" to assume different positions of firing. It could plant 2 legs against the building, shorten the leg length and then pivot the joints against the ball to fire into tight space, down vertical surfaces, or up at sharp angles. The droid does not have to move all of its' legs at once, which means it can assume a nearly vertical position and then slowly step down to horizontal without issue. http://toysnbricks.com/moc-steampunk-og-9-homing-spider-droid/ The lego image above illustrates how the machine moves, in the simplest terms. The links above show the feet of the droid, which all seem to have something suspiciously like clamps, or pincers. If they are clamps, and not some sort of design flaw, this would mean that the droid could anchor a pair of legs, move the other pair, anchor them, and then move the first set. This would enable the droid to climb almost any surface short of a 90 degree incline. They aren't mag-sealed, because the droid is designed to climb a wide variety of surfaces.
  15. What's the point of choosing a supplier if your Ground forces come complete with all the supplies made by their original faction? I understand Storm Troopers getting scouts and heavy troopers, that makes sense to some extent. But they shouldn't get speeder bikes unless you have a supplier capable of making them. If your ground forces are Droids but your supplier is Vong, you shouldn't have repair stations for your droids. If your army is Killik but your supplier isn't, you shouldn't have access to Killik manufactured goods.
  16. Training takes time. Which will also detract from the Command time of the leadership. On the memory point, what I was trying to say is that the Hive is constantly editing it's own memories. It does not know how, or what the source is, of their sensory information. There is no individual, therefore things like personal passcodes may be beyond their comprehension as they have no idea who an individual might be. For you and I it is as simple as thinking for a moment and recalling the password. For the Hive, they have to sort through a dozen memories of personal passwords, without reference to the individual. Imagine for a moment how hard that might be. On the Armor note, chitin armor is from a game and the reference is to its' in game effects. We have no information on what sort of reinforcements were made in the manufacturing process. But, having played SWG I can comment on it being passable, and only mildly resistant, like wearing a coat to resist the cold of winter. Stopping aging says nothing about not needing a break now and again. You also can't Force heal without some effort either. THe Rakghouls require at the very least some token extension of thought to maintain any sort of order. If you're aiming for 6 billion, you can bet your last credit fighting will be near constant. Exhaustion is just part of the deal. The rule allows for support troops and other troops needed to for the average unit to function in any situation. The Average Nest does not have access to the specialized units of other Nests, as they were not necessary for that Nest's warriors to function. I understand that the decision has arbitrarily been made, I disagree, but then again disagreeing with almost every decision this match is par for the course. You can disagree with my assessment all you want, but I used the information found on the wiki. It is not my fault that the dark trooper, and the droids, has more information available. I dislike making baseless guesses, so i simply recite the information I uncover and interpret how it might influence the fight. I'll admit I'm a little insulted at the insinuation, but that would also be par for the course. I never compared each unit to the other. I simply said, using your stunningly insightful Strawman, "Dog Is big, has sharp teeth. Runs in packs and loves bacon. Cat is vague. Most wiki articles relating to cat are only stubs. Without guessing, Cat has fur, has claws and likes milk." Again, insulting comment is insulting.
  17. My initial assessment is up. Researching and working, so the second half is taking longer than I'd like.
  18. You're also forgetting that they'd need to work overtime to keep that black hole of theirs from EATING THE ATMOSPHERE!!!1!!one!
  19. See the Quote by Warren on how capable the Rakghouls are. In short, as admitted they "Lack Sentient Thought", implying that to be anything more than beasts the 'ghouls need to be directed by a focusing Muur.
  20. As i did in the last Round, I'll do a total write up of Taris, and how I see it working. Basics: Taris, pre-bombardment was a city planet packed to the gills with people. The Upper City was the least densely populated, Middle City was more dense, Lower City was the densest population and the Lower city was practically unpopulated. The wealth and security flowed much the same way. Upper city had guard posts, medical labs, troop garrisons and the wealthy had high-rise super sky scrapers likely with their own security forces. Lower City was an armed mess of vigilantes and gangs, people who fought regularly, and often to the death. Swoop gangs were fast, hard hitting thugs who looked after there own, with blaster turrets and black market goods. The Exchange was all over the place, a disease on all levels, procuring goods and services that were otherwise unavailable. The whole planet had a very "possessive" attitude, "What's mine is mine, and I'll kill you if you try and take it away". Everyone here wants to go topside, and will do anything to get there. City Design Protection: This is all I could find on the planet, with a little extrapolation based on what i know about the planet's social structure. I'll update this shortly to account for troop pairings.
  21. Well, I figured I would take a few jabs at the Vong monster, but I don't think it's worth much. I wonder how the training question will go over.
  22. Questions about the LoT: 1. What sort of targeting capabilities does it have? The IDD has a lot of very fast ships, and if the LoT can't track movement then it won't take down many ships. 2. What is the rate of fire for those massive weapons? Is it lobbing star destroyer sized rocks as fast as a turbolaser, or is it slow, needing to regrow and fire? 3. What's the maneuvering capability of this beast? Can it turn and rotate the heavy guns, or is it going to have to take it slow and hope to hit a cloud of fighters? 4. Firing plasma that large, means Newton needs to get involved. What happens if the LoT fires and misses its target? Could they potentially hit the planet, their own troops or maybe nothing at all? 5. What is the range of its' black hole? Are we gonna see some interference with the planet, or its' own ships? General Questions: Killiks will be using Vong tech, which means things are going to be adapted and altered. How is this going to influence the Hive Mind? It was mentioned earlier, but I think it is worthy of repeating Vong ships require neural links, melding individual to the ship. It is a logical next step to ask how Hive-minds are going to interact with the uplinks, could there be something like lag as thoughts are sent, received and then translated to the ship? EDIT: It was stated that the bugs can fly Vong ships, but, Beni also said they just left "Vong Flight Academy", so, we're looking at fresh, rookie pilots, correct? EDIT 2: Found the quote:
  23. The guard who asks you to retrieve the medicine fell asleep on duty and wants you to cover for him. The refugees are homeless, creditless, and all the medicine is being hoarded by the Republic. The base will get a resupply, but the refugees are still without a port during a planetary war. To deny the helpless the medicine that could save them is a darksided act.
  24. The Scimitar essentially wins versus any sort of recognition. It would seem the stealth field was, for all intents and purposes, flawless. There is nothing to say it has to turn off the field when hitting hyper space, or when offloading passengers. It is a 100% cloak by my reading of the details. Considering some of the debate going on, I feel it would be best to repost this.
