  1. Incredibly difficult to play? :D I'm leveling one and I honestly don't see where the hard part kicks in. The amount of usable skills doesn't make a class hard to play.
  2. He's trying to pull the Athene. Everyone knows by him now, but I remember his first threads in wow forums and how it looked exactly like this. He just trolled the **** out of everyone with his "the best paladin in the world" topics and it took quite a bit time before even the last people realized it. Though at least Athene, I suppose, is an ok player aswell. But let's be honest, how obvious does it have to be?

  4. Expect when something like arena is implemented and the clickers wonder why their ratings are really bad. Clicking is just worse way to do it. It is different but also worse. Some people might be better AT FIRST as a clicker, but give it few weeks and they'll see a positive difference in their gameplay.
  5. I'm a battlemaster gunslinger (or was, I'm rerolling a marauder to another server). My gear is 3 parts short of full champion, missing a 2nd trinket, main hand and bracers. I like the class and I was considering rolling a sniper but ended up deciding to take a completely different approach with a melee char for some diversity. Imo the class is fine, as long as they fix the bugs that hinder the gameplay a lot, meaning ability delay, ability unresponsivness (hate spamming a skill that never activates) and cover problems, for example channel spells sometimes only using the last 1 or 2 ticks after rolling to cover and some general bugs like cc going through the cc-immunity skill etc. When, and hopefully soon, that all is done a gunslinger will instantly be a slightly better. This class is not worthless like many people feel it is. I can beat anyone in damage boards because that's what this class does. Even 1v1 aren't so bad when you learn a few tricks (like using your aoe against melee. For me it ticks for 1,3k and crits over 2k and is yellow damage). I play markmanship (the single target dps spec) and I have accepted the fact that it cannot kite and the best thing is just to stay in cover. You have great damage, you are un-cc'able and you still have a knockback in aimedshot, another knockback, stun, legshot and flash grenade to keep the enemy momentary off you. I don't know why sages/ sorcs seem to say that this class is a free kill for them because from my experience this class destroys them. When I pop my trinket and 15% alacrity cd and pull up a rotation, interrupt their chain lighting and possibly interrupt it a second time with flash grenade (often not usable because of the said animation delay it being a grenade) to a light armor and they are just dead. Unless there is a pillar. And that's the biggest counter. That's the reason why this class would be unusable in an arena and I think this class is the biggest reason why there will never be arena. It would need a total revamp. But in battlegrounds it works, no matter how much people cry about it, it is good. This class has a great damage but in cost of defenses. Maybe make our absorb bubble a bit less useless (wasting a global cd for, wait for it, 1,5k shield feels pointless) and do give us some armor penetration talents. In contrast, if all our damage was yellow, everyone would be crying how ridiculously op this class is and truth to be told, it would be. So in short, I don't feel this class needs a lot. What I personally only miss is fluid wow-like gameplay in pvp, some help for the white damage from armor penetration and maybe slight buff to some of our defensive skills. Then the class would be more than fine. I feel like it is already, but I haven't played sage/sorc or commando / mercenary to see if the grass is greener on their side.

  7. I have found out that leaving cover is pretty useless for markmanship most of the time. Your damage is absolutely ridiculous outside cover and you can be charged and pulled and plain cc'd. So I have dropped the kiting technique a long time because it is bound to fail without a slow. Instead I just hunker down + burst my *** off and use knockbacks and legshot to momentary get them off me. Standing still also allows me to use scrambling field. The most I do is stun / flashbang and move a bit further away (also to get new set of the 3 x 30% damage absorbion charges in cover). Even though the overall damage is pretty poor due to mitigation against tanks, they won't be doing ungodly amount of damage to you either. One tip is to use xs freighter flyby in front of you. Yes, it's an aoe, but it still does huge amount of damage that completely ignores all armor and defense. It can only be resisted. One tick crits over 2k for me and the tank has to eat the entire duration if he's planning on staying at the melee range. This is if tank wonders against me in ilum or somewhere. In warzones I wouldn't waste my time damaging them.

  9. I'm sorry I was so hard on you. Let me make it up and give you a few hints for the future to prevent this kind of hostile reception in the forums : 1. Don't start your post with a "lolwut?" 2. Don't ask whether using three skills and laughing is the only thing you need to do. It obviously is not. 3. When you make the first thread about a certain issue in the entire forum and ask "am I the only one thinking this way", yes, you probably are. 4. Don't state that one class is the best pvp class just because a certain class with certain spec has killed you. It's what a child whose brains are still developing would think. Something that happens to you doesn't necessarily happen to everyone else OR everything else. There are 8 different classes in the game you know. But for the original question, no, it is not ridicilous and the spec isn't op (as you hinted in the op and few posts later said out loud) mostly because it isn't the class and the spec that is op, it is because the way you play your shadow is making that class underpowered. Nothing bioware can do about that, BUT you can. Instead of crying in the forums, spend a little time trying to get better in the game. Optional, of course. I'll give you one more tip for the road. You said, and I quote you now, that "snipers are probably the best pvp class, you clearly haven't played one." As your first post states, you don't have one at lvl 50. Saying something like that makes you sound painfully stupid so don't do it! Also sure, you didn't say the spec was op you just said the class is the best in the game. A huge difference and I apologize twisting your words! I wish you good luck in your adventures and I hope you learned something today!

  11. You do know that one dot costs 20 energy? That is 1/5th of our energy bar. Did you also know that the higher our energy is the faster the regeneration is? We have to keep the bar over 75% otherwise in few seconds we can't do anything else than the basic attack. Did you even know that the dot from the talent tree and the one that gives 30% more damage to dot abilities have cooldowns? I doubt you knew because you seem to be horrible at playing.

  13. Is because of snipers and gunslingers. Either this class needs a complete overhaul or there will never be no arena in this game, ever. a Class so dependant on staying rooted at one place with so little defense would be utterly useless. This class was clearly not intended for a use like arena and in order to work in such environment it would need a revamp, which I don't see coming at least in the near future.
  14. I think the biggest problem is the way the game works - which it doesn't. Ability delay due to animations, ability unresponsiveness (I could actually use one of my damage grenades after the latest patch again, before that it was a lottery whether it would activate on the first or the fourth global cd) and bugging cover and how it for example ****s up channeled abilities are what is dragging my gameplay down. Damage is there, trust me, but defense is pretty ****, exactly what you would expect. Though some abilities are maybe too ****, like defense screen (should I even waste a global cooldown for 1,5k damage absorb bubble?). As a markmanship, which is the single target spec, you will have huge problems with defensive abilities and stats, which some other classes can bypass. This is already putting it in great disadvantage. I wonder why there's no armor piercing talents in the talent tree? The only thing we get is -20% armor reduction in one ability that has a cooldown. Stats in our pvp gear are also ****. What buffs we need? Fix the game first, it will help us. Then maybe do something about the white damage and cover usage. I don't understand why our knockback requires cover? Stuff like that makes the gameplay incredibly clumsy and awkward if you aren't planning on staying in cover the entire duration. We don't need any major buffs right now. For example if all our damage was yellow we would be like operatives before the nerf, laughing at everything and on top of that we would have crazy sustained damage. It's some of the little things that need tweaking. Though I guess majority of the community will not be happy unless their class is by far the best.
  15. I'm battlemaster with my gunslinger and I actually saw a player 13 ranks below me having full champion gear, which is something I do not yet have. I'm still missing 3 parts, including a main hand weapon.
  16. I'm only lvl 13 but I just did 250k damage in Voidstar so DPS cannot be the problem. I love this class already.
  17. Like this thread has shown, every person thinks they are the best. It applies on most things life. Then something like arena comes and these epic ****** players are stuck at **** ratings. What do they do? They quit and start ************ about how arena sucks. Anyone can top the damage with sniper in warzones. I can do it without hands only using my face. IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU AREN'T A HORRIBLE PLAYER.
  18. As a gunslinger I still don't stand a chance against them. I'm fully champion geared rank 60 with few centurion parts and operatives can still kill me without me being able to do anything. On top of that burst they have dodge (100% dodge for white damage for 3 sec) which shutdowns me completely for the duration. I have the same skill but obviously it's useless against yellow damage which is basically everything operative does. I know the rock paper scissors pvp is like this and I'm sure operatives cannot kill some other classes as easily as they can gunslingers / snipers, but it seriously sucks when the absolutely only thing you can do against a certain class is to throw all your cc and pray you escape alive. Imagine how bad it was before the nerf for us.

I'm very good at simracing (pc simulation racing like iracing or rfactor for example) and what I have learned from there is that people just don't believe that there might be someone better yet alone much better at what they do. In that genre everything is fair and the cars are identical. Only the setup of the car, meaning brake balanace, spring stiffness, dampers etc., and the hardware you use (latter being in very, very minor role unless you are sporting a 40 dollar wheel and pedals) differ. "The faster guy just has a better setup, the faster guy is cheating, the faster guy has better pedals" etc. I have heard all the excuses. It's pretty mind blowing really how far people are going to go before they deny the truth. That's why arenas are hated. When you are truly good you are within the best 1% or even less. Obviously 90 out 100 are not going to fall for that regime. The problem is that nearly everyone think that for some reason they are good. In simracing there's no way to hide your skill level. In all simplicity, your skill level is the the time you go around the track, the faster you are the better you are AND even then people try to deny the facts. Then take an MMO which in nature can never be 100% balanced and use a rating based system to rank one's skill level. Obviously the 99% people who aren't that good are not going to admit it's because of them. A player well within the best 1% can make pretty much any class work. For the rest who can't, or who plain suck, there's the FOTM excuses etc. etc. Obviously there are people who know their abilities but I say it's the majority who overestimate themselves a lot. It's human nature to think that when you hit your own limit there's just no possible way that someone else could go further. In short, people don't want to admit that they are bad, no matter how hard facts there are against them. That's why they are never ever going to admit that when it comes to arena. Bad people don't want to do arena because they can't do well there unless they actually practice, but it's easier to deny the truth. Arena will never be truly balanced, there will always be some classes and setups that have easier time. BUT THAT IS NOT THE REASON WHY YOU ARE STUCK AT 1500 RATING AND SOMEONE ELSE IS NEAR 3000! Ps. I'm definitely not within the 1%.
  21. Republic used to lose majority of the games on my server (Trayus Academy). It once took me an entire day to finish my daily. But all that changed when the lvl 50 only bracket was introduced and the lvl 10's couldn't ruin the games for us anymore. Suddenly I found myself winning 3 out of 4 games and in the best days it's more like 5/6 or better. And I'm talking about solo queuing now. I honestly don't know what happened in general. Even in Ilum we are every now and then dominating even though just few weeks ago we were constantly groupzerged in our base. I would say the ratio is like 2:1 for imps, so definitely could be a lot worse in that sense.

Two times I have been outdamaged by a teammate in a game where I tried hard, and it was by a full champion geared sage and full champion / battlemaster geared commando who both outgeared me but it was still close. Speaks volumes about the damage this class can dish out. My spec is the normal SS spec that can be used to PVE aswell. Nothing fancy, nothing extraordinary. All I'm saying that if there's one thing this class is really really good at, it's making a lot damage. It doesn't mean it would do well in wow-type of arena pvp (gunslinger / sniper would be by far the most useless class in arena) but in mass pvp it's very effective, especially in voidstar. I can give you one tip which isn't crucial but what will probably boost your damage done : xs freighter flyby / orbital strike is one of the best aoe skills in the game, use it.
