  1. Everything in this list is what I want to see in PvP... Great post and I do hope BioWare won't be shy to steal these ideas !!
  2. Add to that the possibility to bind a spec to the profile and I'm sold.
  3. Dantooine, no contest ! And Manaan but just for the music theme... Everytime it plays in game, I get goosebumps !
  4. Go with Willpower... It will be only very slightly less effective than Power but will add to crit chance. And if you feel like you need to throw your heals quicker, add some alacrity but that's really up to you and your playing style. Personnaly, I don't really *feel* the need for alacrity passed 10% activation speed.
  5. Actually they never said there would not be expansions ever. They said that the first year, there would not be expansions that you need to pay for and that every added content would be free. It still is the case. Granted, only because Makeb got pushed back because of F2P implementation (that took alreday reduced resources away from usual content development). Thing is we still don't know how big the expansion will be. They only told us the selling point : level cap increase... Which was enough for people like me to make the purchase. What I'm trying to say is that there would be plenty of time to complain about this new content when we actually know what and how big it is. It's pretty much the case for EVERY MMOs... In fact it's the case with every services you have to pay for over time. You can't expect a company (no matter how big and powerfull it is) to give you assurance that nothing will ever change and everybody will live happily ever after. What you're implying sounds to me like when a kid wants to go to DisneyLand when his parents just got laid off... And the argument would be "if you really cared about me you'd find a way to let me see Mickey Mouse". Have you played the "first batch" of FFXIV ?? If you had, I don't think you would compare it to THIS game ! It was less about Square Enix taking responsibility than it was about doing the only thing they could do... And it is costing them a LOT. The "next batch" will pretty much result in Square Enix going bankrupt or surviving one more fiscal year, depending on how well it will be received.
  6. P2W space gear... A lot of the counter arguments about this is "you don't win because there is nobody to beat in space missions". But "Pay to Win" doesn't refer exclusively to PvP. You can "win" a solo game, so you can "win" pure PvE... It's basicly called beating end game content ! At this points, these purchasable ship parts are top gear for your ship, which makes it P2W. And it wouldn't be that bad because up untill now, space missions were just minigames that had almost no impact on regular PvE gameplay. But now, the missions that require this particular equipment grant BH commendations which can be used to get end game gear (actually the second best PvE gear to date)... And that is the very first step to a more P2W model, which is why people are freaking out. Now, if you ask me, I think a lot of reactions has been too extreme over this but I bet this little experiment was a way for BioWare/EA to test the player base with P2W elements being added to the game. Now they know, and only future will tell if they feel that the rage storm it caused will be enough to move away from such an economic model. Now the Makeb problem. First off, let me state that I feel that some people's reactions to paying for Makeb are completely exagerated. But the fact is, it was very much implied that Makeb would not be an expansion but an expansion-size update that would be given to us. Then again, at that time, little did they know EA's earnings call (in late July) would put a stop to many plans BioWare could have and shift the direction they were heading to. So in the end, I think people should be a little more comprehensive and don't believe that because the game probably makes enough money to be viable, it won't be shutdown. We are "required" to pay for Makeb (level cap increase means pretty much that) because the game doesn't do well enough for EA, and far worst than that, it doesn't do well enough for EA's investors and share holders. That's the reality of things. Because SWTOR is not your average MMO. It's probably the most exepensive game ever made, with one of the most lucrative IP and it had a LOT of ambitions when it came out... It can't be just about breaking even. I'm not happy about it, but hey, I want to keep playing. So yeah, I bought the freaking expansion, and I didn't complain about it.
  7. And it was the plan at the time. But then there's been the late July EA's earnings call which kicked every BioWare's plans in the face... It's getting harder and harder for BioWare to communicate as they pretty much have to lie to us, hide facts et go back on their words in order to keep EA's executives from sinking the last piece of wreckage by going all out on a rotten economic model that will kill the spirit of the core community. Because at this point, if BioWare admits or even hintly acknowledge they are now trying to get more money out of subscribers to keep the game afloat, it will sink. So yes, Makeb was supposed to be an awesome free AAA expansion that other MMOs never dreamed of... But we have to realize that things have changed and that we're now required to help them out by giving 10 bucks for it. If we want to continue playing this game that is ! I'm not happy about it, but I made my choice : I want to continue playing this game and this Makeb mess is not yet the last straw for me (but I'll admit, it's getting closer by the minute).

  9. Agreed ! The first thing I purchased with WZ coms was the battlemaster saber... The second thing was a green (white core) crystal to change the black core one. These cores don't feel like Star Wars at all ! Looks more like a d-bag prop...
  10. I'm calling the Galactic Society for the Protection of Animals right now !!
  11. Between 5 and 10% better for games... So maybe not enough to justify changing MB !
  12. We already have baby taun-tauns as pets. One day (if the gaming gods are mercyfull) we'll have an update that will make them grow up and allow us to put saddles on them. At least, it seems logicial that it was the intended plan.
  13. For gaming (and for a reasonable price) : i5 3570K (ivy bridge) i7 3770K is better but not so much as to justify the cost when compared to the i5. And if you have a sandy bridge MB and don't plan on changing it : i5 2500K.
  14. I love jawas but they have no place in this game as a playable race. Character customization limitations are here to prevent "non-hero types" playing characters AND to fit in romance options (not to mention language in cinematics !). Jawas, Wookies, Rodians, Trandoshians, Bothans (etc...) cannot be heroes in this heavy story driven game. To want them in is to wish for another game really, a more sandbox game like SWG.
  15. 1. Voss 2. Echani 3. Togruta I would vote for Nautolan but I'm afraid I would see too much of those if they were available... I actually have the same fear about Togrutas !
  16. What if it's not the only subrsciption MMO you play ? What if you still want to buy other games ? Oh and the "get a better job" part... Yeah, thanks for the advice. Just think of all those people who are working their *** off for no reason while a better and more paying job is just waiting for them. And they just complain about videogames prices... Tsss, people !
  17. The "pay to win" model is clearly not a part of the short term strategy for SWTOR. EA/BioWare clearly wants people to subscribe at this point. Now, this is a pretty difficult economic model to pull off because they have to make the cartel items enticing but not so much as to risk and alianate subscribers who would have no choice but to pay even more in order to enjoy the game. Add to that the craving for new subscriptions and you find yourself with a very limited course of action towards implementing cool stuff in the cartel market. So, at the moment, "pay to win" stuff is out of the question (even for clueless marketing executives), but things change... However not overnight, so enjoy the game while you can !
  18. Now now, you don't want to make it too easy for the free loaders, do you ? A couple of bucks of good faith shall be in order I believe... Anyway, I didn't like the "limited to one" but I'm more than fine with "limited to two" !
  19. I believe you're referring to the usual misconception of the "free to play" concept... See, when a company gives a product for free, it is not good business for them. Hence the occasional compulsory purchase, just to make sure free loaders won't barge in, wreck the place and won't even participate in the economic effort which running MMO servers implies.
  20. We should really have a necro sign or something around here...
  21. I find it amazing that every improvement that can be made to the game is still subject to whining and negative criticisms. I mean, it's getting really hard to be positive, to make sense and not being (or appearing as) a fanboy.
  22. My wife and I have about 10 active characters or so... We cover every crew skills and enjoy crafting (as limited as it is !) a lot. But it sure is a pain to log on and off again, send materials and all between every character. Plus, it can't be good for the servers to have people logging again and again for a 30 seconds span time each time ! What would be incredibly awesome is a legacy perk that lets you open a unique window from which you can choose any crew skill your alts have (and their materials) and send alt's companions on missions. Of course, this brings me to other quality of life improvements that could be designed as legacy perks (and thus make use of 25+ legacy levels) : .legacy bank (to share non-bound and bound to legacy items) .marriage between players (and be able to share the legacy with someone) .the ability to queue gathering missions for a single companion
  23. Because as they've said many times, research indicates that people love the game but are not willing to spend money on it. So the strategy is to get them hooked on it for free and to frustrate them just enough so they would give the money they didn't want to give in the first place... So yeah, you're right, it's a at best a crazy gamble but sure does smell like bad marketing salvaging idea ! It won't change anything for me though. I'm a subscriber and probably will be untill the game dies. I just hope those changes won't bring that day much closer.
  24. Columi is not end game... And actual end game gear can be dismantled and put back into custom without loosing bonus set (War Hero, Campaign and Dread Guard). Your argument is invalid.
  25. You can't have worthy (read 'usable") perks with the legacy system because of the people who don't wanna have alts and will whine about the devs forcing them into alting to be competitive...
