  1. My thoughts exactly. The pure dps specs of AC's with healer builds are generally considered the least efficient ones.
  2. I have never even done space missions, but it sounds to me like she's just scared for her life in that scenario, not for theirs.
  3. Also, it might help to start an alt to learn this. It's not necessary, but it'll help alot to grow accostumed to this technique, as you start with only very little and very basic abilities, and accumulate more as you practice (like you would gradually do more complicating things when learning any other skill). If there is an alt you always wanted to roll, now's a good chance to do so.
  4. Devs! Read! Approve! HIRE!! I could have fun in this. Make the terrain a bit more creative than the maps other than Huttball (the best maps ime are the ones that have everything: ledges, cramped spaces and open terrain).
  5. Hm, I see where you're coming from. I DO find CT very, very useful, but Darkswell is something I've been jealous of... I'll give it a whirl.
  6. Purely PvP, I'm currently going http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200ZcGbZcMfRrMkrfz.2 . I'm using remodded PvE gear for the +15% crit on Thrash. I may switch Insulation for Dark Embrace when I get full WH, but honestly, I don't think an extra 3.5% mitigation against the most common damage source is that bad. I know I miss out on dps by not taking either Thrashing Blades or Charge Mastery, but for PvP, I like the mobility, stealthiness and control Obfuscation and Avoidance give. EDIT: Btw, I LOVE this guy and plan on making him my second main, and it is PURELY for Madness spec. Don't want to do anything else, not even Hybrid. At least for now.
  7. Don't want to be rude or anything, but I'd say the shared trees tend to be the classes' best dps trees atm: Marauder: Rage (arguably the best PvP choice now and viable in PvE as well) Jugg: Rage (completely superiour for PvP, and I think PvE viable as well) Sniper: Lethality (completely viable for both) Operative: only exception, but there aren't many dps ops anyway. Merc: Arsenal for PvE, Pyro for PvP. PowerT: as a rule of thumb, Pyro all the way (AP has some niches in PvP, especially Huttball) Sorc: Madness can work for PvE, Hybrid (or Madness, though less common) for PvP - heal/bubble Hybrid doesn't count as it's a heal/support build first ***: Madness is perfectly viable for both PvE and PvP, and is more Hybrid friendly than Deception as well.
  8. Why not? If you're not gonna be using the ammo anyway? And my Commando is Gunnery, so I can't use HS that way. And with Gunnery spec, it only takes about 4 seconds to regenerate 3 ammo without doing anything.
  9. Add to that it's mobile damage. I use it regularly when chasing someone in PvP.
  10. I think you're looking at the ability wrong. Comparing it to Saber Ward, it's lousy. Compared to Rebuke, same. So why am I still using it all the time? Because it's basically a 15% health increase if used right. It won't help you to survive under pressure, but it's still nice to have. It's more a "give me an edge" button than an invincibility button. Still, I'll agree that the 3minute cooldown makes it seems like the devs... overestimated... it somewhat. And it's true that BH's (arguably along with Sages, though not in my opinion) have the least potent defensive cooldowns. And while PT's don't need it, seeing as they're pretty powerful as they are, as well as having the most potent offensive cooldown in the game to make up for it, it is a bit sad for Mercs. EDIT: and yeah, why doesn't it count as healing on the scoreboard? That shiat don't make sense.
  11. I've played all my republic classes darkside. The Smuggler is the only one I regretted it for. The LS is luch more charming and charismatic, while the opposite is true for the other three.
  12. It's not entirely untrue. Let's compare a Madness Sorc with a Madnassin for a moment. The Sorc has 1 true burst skill (Death Field) and one "Heay Pressure" skill (Crushing Darkness). The Sin has 3 burst skills (Death Field, Assassinate and Maul), as well as a better Crushing Darkness imo (less range and less damage, but free and double recharge). Furthermore, the sin's filler move (Thrash => +50% crit damage and +24% crit chance most of the time) is more lethal than the Sorc's (Force Lightning). Sorcs have things going for them, like very mobile, long range damage potential, as well as probably the easiest target tabbing skills, but they don't achieve high levels of lethality. Even the Lightning tree isn't burstier than a lot of other classes' dps specs. For the record, I play a Madnassin, and a Telekinetics Sage (which I'm not going to play anymore, as it's one of my least favourite characters, UP or not).
  13. For PvE, I'd recommand a Sab/DF hybrid. It's good deeps and probably the least reliant on Cover/standing still. For PvP, there is no escaping cover, as its defensive capacities are too powerful. Even casted abilities that don't require it (read: Wounding Shots) should always be used from Cover as there is just no good reason not to. Even when using direct abilities you shouldn't leave cover lightly, especially when not kiting, as you can never know a well aware marauder might just tab you and jump you. For PvP, the trees available to you are Sab, DF and Sab/DF.
  14. Commando: Devs! Nerf EVERYONE! Dps Scoundrel: But I didn't do anything! Commando: EVERYONE!!! Nah, but you should get buffed, I agree.
  15. Assuming the single best PvP dps spec in all around usefulness for each class only, this is it In My Opinion. 1. Marauder (Rage) 2. Juggernaut (Rage) 3. Powertech (Pyro) 4. Sniper (No real preference) 5. Assassin (No real preference) 6. Sorcerer (Madness or Hybrid) 7. Mercenary (since its best place is pugging, Arsenal or Pyro are both options) 8. Operative (Concealment) I'll add that while I do believe that every class has its strengths and that even a well played merc or op have things going for them, PvP balancing works so even relatively small advantages can have a quite big absolute impact. It's why balancing is hard, and why lots of games (including to an extent this one) are not getting it exactly right. But really, Swtor isn't the worst out of the bunch, and I play a Lethality Op (which ranks even lower than my list).
  16. In my opinion, Sith Warrior. Generally, many people will either say Warrior or Knight. Both have a good crew as well, though again, I prefer the Warrior's.
  17. The first names are good enough, so are the last names but I'm not too keen on the "z" at the end - it's too much something you expect a gamer to do, and a lot of sith names are Latin sounding so -us at the end would have made more sense anyway. The x-es and their placement give your first and second names a nice fluency. 7.5/10 I am Darth Girlpower. A cute, headstrong, body type 1 young woman in ****** jugg armour who wants to earn her place in a male-dominated world. My surname is Rabbitbane, but it makes more sense on my guys that are called Myxomatosis or something similar, so most of the time I don't show it. It's however, still pretty much evil to claim you like to butcher bunnies in your spare time.
  18. If all Agent companions were the same, imperial loving softies, it would be the most boring crew in the game. Most classes have very diverse crews (especially the Imperial ones, which makes them overall better imo), which allows for very complex relationships, depending on how you play your character. In fact, it seems that every agent companion caters to a specific type of Agent. Kaliyo is for the sarcastic, crude, loose bullet. The type of agent that sees his training and equipment as a means to become dangerous and lethal, as well as to become one of the few imperials who can do pretty much as he likes, since he knows he's invaluable to the establishment. You're the type of guy that doesn't have any patriotic love for the Empire, but in fact you abused the power-based hierarchy of the system to climb the ladder where nobody can touch you, and you're free to do as you please. This allows you to get all the credits and violence you need, which, along with freedom, are the things Kaliyo likes most. Vector is the hardest to figure out. I've wondered why such a nice guy is also a patriotic imperial, especially since he's so xenophiliac. Now, this doesn't work for his earlier life, but I think his connection to the hive mind probably enforced his imperial patriotism, as its groundrules are much more similar. The Republic is a place where everybody's free. It's based on alliances between worlds that help others, but will expect help in return. Hivemind Vector doesn't like that. He prefers the Empire's one big world, where everybody works together unconditionally for the greater good. Therefore, he likes agents that embody these traits: helpfulness and general kindness, but also patriotism and the will to enhance the Empire (without any need for own profit). Lokin is for the clever, efficient agents. The agents that think schematically: what's the end goal, what's the most efficient way to reach it, and how do I best handle the obstacles on that way? He dislikes agents too preoccupied with the irrelevant stuff: unneeded violence and grudges on the "dark side", and mindless patriotism and kindness that compromises missions on the "light side". This makes him interestingly enough one of the "greyest" characters in the game, and probably the most spy-esque agent companion. Temple is the general, patriotic imperial, and obviously appeals to agents who are too. She's similar to Vector, that their keywords are both "kindness/light side" and "imperial patriotism", but their priorities are switched. Unlike Vector, Temple will always want the agent to do what is best for the empire, even if it's morally dubious. So she's the one for agents who went to spy school out of pure, patriotic zeal. SCORPIO is interesting as well. It likes agents who see their spy training as a way to enhance themselves, become more lethal. Like Kaliyo, it doesn't really care about the Empire per se and wants you to abuse the ways it offers you to increase your power, however, for Kaliyo it's the rewards this type of thinking offers (credits, the power to get everything you want) that matter, while for SCORPIO, it's the process on its own that really counts. Being a superspy allows you to be cunning and deadly enough to beat entire systems more easily that some armies, and agents who value this above everything else (and express the desire to become even better at it), will receive its approval. So you see, every companion embodies one archetype of agent. The Kaliyo agent is my agent of choice, and many others share this feeling, so you can never say she's a bad choice of companion. ... Oh yeah, and the smuggler flirting is pretty awesome.
  19. Ranged Tank: Kaliyo (but 4X is a good second) Melee Tank: Tanno Vik (doesn't get enough praise this guy, Tanno's my bro!), SCORPIO and Scourge are ****** too Ranged Dps: Vette or Gault Melee Dps: Vector or Jaesa (any alignment) Healer: I think every single one of them except for Mako (and she isn't too bad either) is pretty damn cool. I guess I'll go with Talos D.
  20. Speaking only about PvP, Concealment is probably both easier and better, but I have been having fun as a Lethality/Medicine hybrid for months, and it hasn't gotten old yet.
  21. Yes, but those armorings lack Expertise stats. You can also use a PvE shell that carries the bonuses (anything up to Rakata I think), which is what I'm going to do.
  22. Oh, this is very useful information, thanks. Kind of means every class except Agent gets to do this (which is unfortunate, as my main is a dps op with remodded PvE gear. :/
  23. Huttball is great as it is. I wouldn't mind a pure deathmatch map, and it could even be another hutt themed arena, but not this one.
  24. I've messed around for a short time with something like http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#401McsMzZhIo00zZGbbkr0h.2 The idea was to use cover + ranged attacks while dotting and hotting yourself. I did some pretty decent PvP matches with it, but on the whole it was just something to do because I was bored. It's a pretty horrible idea.
