  1. I like it because you might run into the opfor. Thats the whole point of MMOs for me.
  2. I had the same problem lol. I was chuffed I got 'O'Neil', but it got forced to 'O'neil'
  3. I would still be playing WoW if I didnt get tired of the Fantasy setting. I always said while we were waiting for SWTOR, that if it was 'WoW with lightsabers' Id be happy as anything. Its NOT quite that, but close enough, and deliberately designed to be easily accessible to players of the other game. I think they succeeded to be honest. Its different enough, but obviously comes from a common philosophy. The only thing (other than Main Assets 27 goddamnit that stopped me playing the last couple of days) that I dont think is top drawer is that often I feel that Im just following a path laid out rather than making my own way like in WOW. SWTOR is MORE linear than WoW, but then again the devs have always said this would be the case. Ill be playing SWTOR for a long time for sure though. So much in store for this game, it has virtually unlimited potential. They can have my 8.99 a month to let me find out what direction it goes, and gladly. Ive only rolled one class to level 36, and have already had 100s of hours of good times. Now they just need to stop the launcher being a supremely sensitive RAM error detection device, and it will be great xD (joke)
  4. I rolled focus on day 1 just because of the OP slowing/capture abilities, which I was assuming from WoW experience to be a major win factor in PvP. As an added bonus to this, after about level 30 we receive some powerful semi AOE abilities, with additional buffs through talents, not to mention a near spammable set of interrupts/silences. I havent played the other specs, i will do one day. I just havent felt the need to switch yet due to too much fun.
  5. I cant wait for you moaning minnies to be ejected from these forums when you unsub in a couple of weeks. There are problems sure. It is not the mess some of you guys are making it out to be. A lot of the trouble rests in the component that resides between the keyboard and the chair.
  6. I ony read about 2 paragraphs, but he thinks BW stole money from him because he imagined the perfect ground breaking Star Wars MMO in his own mind, and then got pwned by reality. He must have totally disregarded all of Biowares other games as well, since SWTOR has all the hallmarks of a game by them, and so its current form shouldnt be a surprise to anyone. It really reminds me of KOTOR/Mass Effect. ( and a liberal helping of WoW in the mix....... I wont deny that at all, but I loved WoW as well, I dont think its offensive to compare SWTOR with one of the best games ever, just writing long diatribes on why this game sucks and WoW rules is getting stale and old and gay. Im hoping they will all bugger off come subscription day. Its starting to grind my gears)
  7. I just dunno what people expected. This was the highly anticipated MMO from the makers of KOTOR and Mass Effect, and guess what? We got a game that is like a multiplayer version of a hybrid between KOTOR and Mass Effect. I jsut hope all these posts stop soon. It seems the people that make them expect those that read the post (I only got half way through) to suddenly wake up and go 'this guy is right, I WILL stop playing this game.' Not going to happen Im afraid, not on the official forum, where the majority love it. So just go somewhere else and moan about beng cheated you laughable goon. I feel cheated waaaaaaa good god give it a rest.
  8. I never heard this before. I went and had a look at some of my Sw comics, and Satele has a double ended.... I MEAN BLADED in those.
  9. Im hoping and expecting the first paid expansion to be along the 'Jump To Lightspeed' lines of Galaxies, and the implementation of some proper space combat. What is certain is that BW have a plan set out for at least the next 3 years or so. I must have WoW as an example here, and I have read that they had the Cataclysm expalnion planned long before release, so they must be working on a 7 or 10 year plan or soemthing. I cant see SWTOR will be much different. Look at it this way, we are just gettign a small taster of what is ahead. I cant wait. Might have to be patient though, and I hope they put in enough stuff to hold people in between major content patches/expansions.
  10. I only come on the forums when Im at work or out and about unable to play the game. Sure there are some problems that need ironing out, but the sheer scope of what is to come is so exciting. I love the game as it is, but so excited to see what comes over the months and hopefully years. To quantify how much I am loving this game, at this time of year I normally have many games waiting to be played on my Steam account, purchased for knockdown prices on the Steam Sales. This year......was there a Steam sale? I have no need to know because I havent levelled my first char to max yet, and ill be doing at least 2 more, and who know whats coming later to keep us hooked. It better be proper space combat of the Xwing Vs Tie Fighter ilk. Anyway LOVING it. The guys that are really hating on it are probably mostly highly jaded players who start with the post 'Im an elite WoW player and...' who is obviously totally played out on this hotbar type MMO. I played WoW for 3 years, and a lot, but was never into the fantasy setting, and this game fits my tastes perfectly in setting. I have to balance it by saying there are some shocking parts in SWTOR. The hotbar GCD resetting at random, lag in the spells/animations and other really serious problems do need sorting desperately. A couple of IRL frinds who have better PCs than me are getting worse FPS than me too, and Id like to see this sorted as its stopping a couple of my friends playing it. I can totally understand people upset about the real issues that exist. There are however too many crybaby posts and 'not as good as WoW' posts, which are retarded and irrelevant. I say let them get on with it. Its their loss if they are so jaded on MMOs they cant see the potential in this game. UNLIMITED POTENTIAL. But the game has been on the shelves for what....a fortnight? I actually bought WoW about 2 weeks after release and I can remember it clearly. 2 hour Queues standard. CTD's, standard, high ping and network dropouts, standard. Characters falling off the world or getting stuck, standard.,, quets bugged, standard, looting bugged, standard....etc I think if you are going to compare the 2 games its only really fair to do so with like for like. i.e Vanilla WoW 1.0 and SWTOR 1.0. Tbh SWTOR pisses all over it, and half the guys moaning about SWTOR probably werent playing WoW on release, I bet you.
  11. I think its slightly too quick to level as well. Now in my WoW days it took me a year to get level 60 on my first character (hunter to 50 and Priest to 60). I played a lot too, but not on a mission to level, its just that everything was hard to get back then. When it came to getting the level 40 mount for instance it took me weeks to get 100g. (this was in old original WoW). When I got it though i was totaly proud of my Frostsabre. In this game everything seems slightly too generous in Xp and maybe credits. (Anyone remember the original honour system in WoW? You literally had ot no-life it to reach and maintain a high rank. I remember going on holiday, and friends going on holiday and logging in to each others accounts just to do some BGs to keep the honour up. It was insane, but brilliant imo and the title/rank really did mean something, maybe nothing good lol, but at least people knew you were trying xD, compare this with the titles in SWTOR so far. Meaningless). Im starting to suffer credit wise now with expensive skills and repairs, but I havent become penniless like i did many times in the other game. I know they literally want us to roll multiple characters in this game, and maybe thats why they made the levelling so much easier than the competitors. The strangest thing to me is there seems to be little difference in /played between levels, as if the XP is scaled to get more for higher level quests, and thus even out the time at each level? It doesnt help the community spirit imo, since everyone is racing through so fast. Most of the people I met in WoW I met while levelling. You could miss a couple of days and they wouldnt be far ahead, if you miss a couple of days in SWTOR all the decent players you grouped with have raced on 2 or 3 levels and on a different set of quests and instances. Still loving the game though BW, thanks so much.... Now bring in proper space combat (Use Xwing Vs Tie Fighter as a template) and Ill sign up for a lifetime.
  12. Im hitting the Sentinal AOE at level 32 for more like 700 crit. Focus spec though which has soem buffs to it, and a guarenteed crit after force leap. And yeah I agree, not broken. I find the DPS poor for a dedicated DPS class, but during levelling I have few problems with anything mob related. Just in PvP it takes me so long to unleash the damage that Im usally dead by then. Im not discounting the possiblity I need to L2P here either.
  13. + 1 million for a rebirth of X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter as part of SWTOR. This needs to happen. Im sure it wll in the form of a payware expansion like Jump to LIghtspeed. I would say this is the number 1 on most peoples wish list. But please make it sufficiently complex, more along the lines of a sim than a simple shoot em up. Pleeeeaaaase.
  14. I totally agree with need for comapnions BUT I do think its only fair to let mains have first dibs, and then if noone is rolling for it, then roll need for a companion. It only takes a bit of communication. 'OK Im needing that for my companion if noone wants it for their character'. Sayign that, I wouldnt even be too put out if someone did just ninja roll for a comapanion, especially with SWTOR because its not like gear is thin on the ground in this game is it?
