  1. Disclaimer: This is 'my opinion' feel free to disagree or debate, I make no claims about representing anyone but myself. Storylines, you have 8. 4 republic 4 Empire. The reason this should be looked at is because there is no impact on the storyline path because of Advanced Class, or Light/Dark. Legacy; Great Idea in principle but Who's brilliant Idea was it to have new content essentially unavailable unless you are going through the storyline (which doesn't change) for the Nth time? It would be different if Planets had different tasks available based on advanced class, or different people that would offer tasks based not on imperial/republic but light/dark level or advanced class. Right at this point, crew skills *seem* to be most useful to people with lvl 50 characters, and it appears the same will be true with legacy system. What then is gonna keep people in the game long enough to reach 50?
  2. Companions cannot fail at crafting. So far as I know that has not changed for 1.2. Their comment when returning from work my 'indicate' a failure but this is a dialog glitch that I believe they are addressing in 1.2. Much like their boasting of success when they return from a mission with empty hands.
  3. oh no question he ignored the code if/when it got in his way, still something fundemental like relationships, having children how in lore terms would he have been allowed to remain a jedi master?
  4. After completing Nar Shadda and shielding Master Duras Fain you get a mission to respond to a distress call. Now here is my question, if Jedi are forbidden by code from romance how is it that Duras Fain has a Daughter
  5. Just my 2 cents, the changes in 1.2 to slicing (the Augment parts AND scematics) are not a good investment for someone with your stated goals. Producing gear for self. My impression is that augment schematic drops are a low % on Critical Slicing mission success. I went from 1 to 60 Slicing, got 2 augment schematics for armstech ___ I was Synthweaving. I know that is what the RNG can do, I accept that. I still retrained for Underworld Trading. Chances are good the majority of people with slicing will still be concentrating on harvesting field nodes for lockboxes/credits not sweating augments.
  6. Both here and on PTS Server forum I am seeing lots of people claiming to quit the game (or predicting mass subscription loss) from this change or that change. My 2 cents. IF/WHEN I decide to leave this game or any game it will not be due to 1 change, it will be due to a pattern of change drawing the game away from what I consider fun. I am one person, there is little I can do by myself to affect the decisions of the developers. I do not want or expect MY preferences to carry a great deal of weight with the developers. My only power is shown when hundreds, thousands of other players also feel as I do. I can only speak for myself. Make suggestions. Make complaints. Keep it polite though, and if you just don't like the way things are going then leave, don't threaten to leave, just leave. Because when it reaches that point you can be ****** sure that is what I will be doing. Signed
  7. Just no. This is in my personal opinion a very poorly thought move that will impact all segments of playerbase from PvE in story missions, to Flashpoints, to Operations ...... ect. Many is the time fighting an Elite or Champion Mob that was crucial to advancing storyline Med Packs and the possibility to use more than one over the course of the fight made the difference between winning and having to ask for someone to help out. Not every class Has Heal skills, not every class that has them spec's healer, and last but not least not everyone gets a healing companion (other than ships butler).
  8. having played a Sith Wrrior just this morning on PTS I can say with certainty that neither the Location: Sith Academy nor the Title: Imperial Scholar (still needed in Codex even if removed from game) are NOT fixed as of current test build
  9. This is just my Opinion. No, ToR will not be going F2P in the forseeable future. What you MIGHT see is something like what EA has done with Warhammer and Blizzard has done with WoW of making the game free up to a level or planet with progress beyond that requiring subscription but even that is not something you will see at this point in development. It's my opinion that most if not all F2P games successful over the long term are the ones designed F2P.
  10. At the end of the day, everyone has their own opinions. For myself (not speaking for anyone else just me), I like if someone will not follow the rules 'you' think are fair, don't group with them. Don't yell/scream/rant, just don't group with them again. This works whether you are group leader or not. If you join a group and the loot rules are disagreeable to you, leave. If you stay, and do not make an effort before entering the fighting to negotiate the loot rules you are agreeing to be bound by them. This is again 'my' opinion and not intended as a reflection on anyone else.
  11. Never mind that Jedi and Romance means wandering down the dark side, I think Kira would be better in many ways because you get more time to work on her affection rating.
  12. Am I a casual player? Not sure. My computer atm runs the game, though it could do it better. My schedule is unpredictable, so I neither PvP nor group in any consistent fashion, as I've posted elsewhere I compulsively create alts in order to find a race/gender/class/faction I like so I will probably never see the legacy system. Every game I've played has had things I liked, and things I didn't. The Old Republic is no different. Do I enjoy it? Yes. Do I see places it could improve? Yes. Could I find 2 people that have had the exact same experience playing I did/do? Probably not.
  13. Please to note if trying the above advice; Individual Results vary, Use at own risk.
  14. Gonna play Devil's Advocate here. This Statement may be true in life, it may be true in single player games, it may be true in PvE content. But! ...... Many PvP systems are driven as much by the players gear as the players skills and right or wrong, player perception is that end game content is PvP driven. Disclaimer; I avoid PvP, I don't know for a fact if TOR's PvP system is Significantly affected by Gear. In most games when two or more people have near equal skill playing their respective classes, the winner will be the one with the best (or best maintained) gear.
  15. Not sure there is a right or wrong answer here. I suffer from an uncontrollable urge to reroll or otherwise create alts in nearly every game MMO and Single Player I've played. Due to schedule instability I seldom find it 'possible' to group (with the result that when I do I generally do it poorly). I would welcome a way to be able to play Flashpoints and/or Heroics (at level) by using companions instead of other players .... though realistically even if they did this it would only be relevant for 25+ characters. I can also see the point of those opposed, folks will NEVER learn grouping skills if there is no incentive to learning them, if the same content can be accessed without needing to work at learning the skills. So many issues become polarized *sigh*.
  16. Sad fact is that we tend toward a bit of Hubris, we tend to think that in order to be intelligent an alien life form must be more or less human in appearance. I am not absolutely certain but iirc Yoda was virtually the only force user in 6 movies that was not pretty much human in appearance. Never mind that Class not species dictates much of the story. Never Mind that at least on the Imperial Side anything except Human and Sith are considered 'at best' second-hand citizens. And that current Sith 'purebloods' are in fact Sith/Human Hybrid. In my opinion they 'could' have spent more time on designing the playable races, but I suspect no matter how much time they spend they will still be 90% 'human' in appearance.
  17. Of those complaining about problems in the loot from Flashpoint/Operation. First off some disclaimers 1) I don't have a character higher than 26 so can't talk about high level content 2) I avoid PvP so can't comment about that 3) I have avoided grouping except in rare instances (I no sooner join and I have to log off due to RL Interuption) so this is hardly QQ'ing Class, World, and Heroics give class specific or universal rewards, Most mob Drops are at worst Bind on Equip. So WHY are Flashpoint/Operations Reward Tables Bind on Pickup and NOT determined by person/persons present? Using Black Talon/Esseles as an Example 4 Champion Mobs that have between them the drops of Blue/Orange Items that make a set (4 items). Now, in a reasonable world if say a bounty hunter(power-tech), and sith sorcerer do Black Talon you would get items either for a Bounty Hunter or a sith Inquisitor ----- Not Items (Bind on Pickup) Only Usable by a Sith Warrior or an Imperial Agent. Please excuse if I got the number of sets, the number of items in a set, or the number of Champion mobs wrong. It does not change my point. I can accept a random chance for a mob to drop a particular item I'm hunting for, I can accept if it drops an item I already have, I can live with losing a roll and someone else in a group getting the item. What I have trouble with is Items unsuitable to anyone in a group being 'bind on pickup'
  18. Well Goshee, I was using the taxi's as an example The Point being, if you are interested in maximizing your earning potential you want to be wary of the money sinks in the game. Another one that will zap you is the skill mentors. The Price to remap your skills is low if you do it very seldom, but ___ it can increase geometrically if you find yourself remapping between raiding say and PvP skill sets. Simply Put, Watch expenses as well as your income.
  19. You Sir have put together some decent quality guides. I should however like to point out specific to the credit making issue one minor oft over-looked issue. Watch what you are spending! it is tempting to use the taxi system in this game, after all who likes running from place to place past the same mobs dozens of times, but it is a money sink that will nickel and dime you into bankruptcy. There are doubtless many more.
  20. I Don't consider myself a hater, I will not stoop to name calling either Bioware/EA or Members of the community who come here to vent frustration with being (for one reason or another) unable to play a game they paid for and will be paying a subscription for. I disagree with OP about whether this game was "Release Ready" but ..... it does have some serious problems .... they do need to be adressed. The Servers do have stability issues, the game does have the expectable shakedown bugs, and the developers have been a tad lax about keeping us the community 'in the loop' about what is being done to fix things. I have hopes that these things will change for the better. I have hopes that I will be able to enjoy this game for years to come.
  21. Obi-Wan: Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.
  22. Is anyone else appalled by how venial and corrupt the 'Republic Military' is presented as being? When that is they are not being presented as too stupid to close the airlock before launch. You expect corruption to be the rule on Hutta, you expect ruthlessness and betrayal on Korriban. This is in line with Star Wars lore. You do not expect to be embarrassed to be the only honest trooper on the planet, or to be a smuggler (read criminal) and have a better sense of right and wrong than the 'lawful' government. Honestly, some of it is cringe worthy.
  23. Good Points; Without starting an argument (discussing morals generally about as dangerous as stampeding across a live minefield) Bioware did a fair job of presenting a moral compass in line with Star Wars 'lore'. The difficulty is that three people picked at random will 'probably' have three drastically different ideals about morality, and one of them 'probably' will be mortally offended no matter what choice is made.
  24. not can't ... don't according to posted storyline for this game Sith Pureblood is something of a contradiction. They are descendants of the Original Sith but all are Hybridized to a greater or Lesser extent. I also noticed this, but have not played a second Sith Inquisitor of a different race to see if this is a class storyline issue or specific to a Sith Pureblood Inquisitor. Edit: Having just rolled a Rat Inquisitor and a Sith Warrior I can say conclusively that the storyline writers made Inquisitors liberated slaves regardless of Race. On that note, while there is nothing specific in lore to support Sith 'Purebloods' being slaves aside from basic Imperial cruelty neither does it specifically protect 'Purebloods' from being Victims
  25. #1 would not help, sorry Few servers are "FULL" 24/7 and none except one just opened is "light" 24/7. Simple Mathematics, 2,000,000+ Pre-orders. You can have 200+ 10,000 capacity Servers and raise the first #, or 20 - 100,000+ Capacity Servers (all theory here) and increase the second # during peak load. I have some friends who run an online radio Station, they have 2 'normal' servers and 2 servers they bring up if the listeners exceed what they can handle on 'normal'. They are all listening to the same music stream. (and they do this for free) Now I know nothing about what EA/Bioware has to deal with hosting an MMO, but I have to wonder if they can't do something similar
