My question doesn't apply to you guys since you're still those subscribers that will threaten to leave but never do.

All these complaining threads have everyone stating that they're been subbed "since launch" and are just now finally cancelling. Have all these people really paid every single month since December 20, 2011? In other words, 3 years, 11 months, 26 days as of today which comes out to about $705 in subscription fees alone? Or is that just something to say to make your complaint seem more valid? Like after $705 "it's now finally bad enough that I'm quitting so you know bioware has royally messed up this time." I have played off and on since launch, but there have been many times I've unsubbed if i was bored or was playing another game/mmo. Anyway, just a social observation that I found curious and wondered if anyone else had noticed.

It's going to have to be something HUGE before I resub. I highly doubt they can make up for the companion nerf and lack of trust.

I'm not a whiner, I'm just a casual. If you're so good at your class, the game has HM Ops and Flashpoints for you. And I'm cool with that - I know there are players like you who want an ultimate challenge. However, you are in the minority. And if bioware is going to cater to you guys and force the difficulty on us casuals, then we're going to leave. And unfortunately for you in the long run, there's a lot more of us leaving that 20-30.

For those of your recommending GW2, do you have to have the latest expansion, or is the base game still fun? I bought it when it first came out but haven't played it much.

Thanks for the info everyone. I checked and you were right - the old blue recruit gear doesn't have expertise any longer. I had a piece of champion gear - it was the only piece that did have expertise. Again, thanks for all the suggestions.

I cancelled my sub last night and won’t be renewing anytime soon – even for new chapters. In my “exit interview” for the cancellation I put it was due to the bait and switch of nerfing companions. Here’s what I don’t get – it’s not like powerful companions enabled you to solo operations or HM flashpoints and get the best gear available. If you’re one of those elitist players who wants an insane level of difficulty, you still have it with HM/NiM ops and HM flashpoints. And you can always dismiss your companion if the H2s or Star Fortresses were too easy for your ubernes. So how exactly were the powerful companions hurting anyone? All they did was enable me to do content I usually wouldn’t or couldn’t do. I had fun running the H2s by myself and I felt a sense of accomplishment after a couple of hours of trudging through the Heroic 2+ Star Fortress (solo with the buff). I’m pretty casual and don’t have Ultimate Exarch 224 gear where I can easily solo the SF w/o buff and brag on the forums about how good I am. That’s where the bait and switch comes into play. They made it sound like KOTFE was going to be a “return to story” and casual players would be welcomed again. And I resubbed and was having a great time. I didn’t even mind forced level sync since I had a nice influence 30 companion. So they baited me back in and suddenly switched everything where forced grouping is back upon us. No thanks. I’m done and even if they reversed everything tomorrow it will be a long time before I trust them again with my money and monthly sub. They can cater all they want to the hardcore fanboys with forced this and forced that. But they do not “know what’s best for me” and I won’t continue to support this development mentality and mindset. I never played SWG, but this is the NGE for me in SWTOR. tl;dr I unsubbed Narsikus, Proud casual. Not going away mad; just going away.
