  1. I've got same issue, did all the usual tricks with the bitraider service and laucnher.setting ini file that many of us have tried over the years when we've goteen launcher issues. However, none of the usual fixes are working. This has got to be host issue and not client side. Especially considering the number of players affected. Might be worth hitting up the SWtOR twitter account and posting on there too.
  2. Read your post and agree pretty much entirely. Unfortunately your forgetting one really really really big point. EA dont need SWTOR or another MMO of its kind. Which is probably why its beeing wound down into tick over mode. till its eventually shutdown complete. They already have a game making them a fortune rife full of microtransactions and operated as a game as a service - Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes That mobile game is making them a fortune. Example they recently had a timed offer to buy Kylo Ren and Finn characters (direct sale items) - the pack cost £100 for two characters!! And it sold like hot cakes. You're right about everything you've said but EA already have that game your talking about, making them millions. with none of the costly overheads of a classic MMO.
  3. Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes.... Which ironically is probably the Star Wars EA game that is the reason they dont invest in SWTOR anymore, more money in mobile gaming these days it seems.
  4. It's simple economics, EU require three servers following the merge the US only requires two. So that implys Europe has the larger player base. As for the holiday refrence, maintenance was originally planned for the 1st Nov. A few European players pointed out its a public holiday for various countries in Europe. It was quickly changed. Now conquest reset is changing to 6pm UTC allowing for almost another full day for those in europe to complete it. I dont see Europe getting shafted at all with the recent actions. It all seems to be going our way....... looks down at my 27ms ping vs 400+ APAC players Yea its just awful being a SWTOR player in europe right now... just terrible
  5. Ah you mean that Holiday that affects Europe but not the U.S? I wasnt surprised, alot of the actions of late seem to be tailored towards keeping the EU region happy. Which if the EU region is their most lucrative region, well none of these actions suprise me. You cater to your money makers frist, apeasing everyone else second.
  6. Hmmmm lets see, with all the changes lately - We get server merges, and EU get 3 servers, US gets two and shafts APAC at the same time. Now the conquest reset time has changed to be a more EU friendly time.... Hmmm.... I wonder... maybe they're trying to tailor the game to its largest most lucrative player base? But eh.. who knows.. I could be wrong.
  7. ....and the reason being is because the Trans South Pacific line isn’t very good. you may have seen those of us in Europe saying how we've play on EC servers from time to time with pings barely breaking 100ms (27-32ms is the norm on our own local EU servers) and that’s because the Trans-Atlantic line is very good. If Aussies really want to make a difference, vote to get that line fixed, and whilst you’re at it, maybe fix your power issues too. Can't believe it’s taken this long and now for Elon Musk to get involved too. In short, the relocation isn’t as big an issues as Australia's general infrastructure be it telecoms or power. But that’s a conversation for a different day on an entirely different forum.
  8. Hey no worries, and apologies if I came across sounding curt, wasn't intentional!
  9. Thats all well and good but Overall POP counts are meaningless. It really matters not if the APAC region DID have the largest population. Especially if its population was made up primarily by F2P players who didnt spend a dime on the cartel market. The west coast servers and APAC players have been shafted for one very simple reason. Regardless of how many of you there were, you werent bringing enough revenue for EA/BW to justify operating the servers in that region. Thats the ONLY factor that matters. Are we making enough money from these customers? No? Kill em off.
  10. I know right, jesus this is beyond pathetic. It's done. The decison was likely made in a board meeting months and months ago, this balls been rolling down this hill for awhile, the only time its gonna stop is when it get to the bottom. Those who were all for it cos their server had a dead pop, perhaps didnt realise, its not just your server, its all the servers in your region. No amount of merges is gonna fix that. So whats the answer. Get shot of them. And thus the ball began rolling and the APAC region was dropped. Yes you can still connect but your no longer a priority so expect high pings. Sucks. But nothing you can do, and a petition isnt gonna stop it now.
  11. Nobody should cancel their subscription in other regions because of this. I dont understand why this is so difficult for people to understand. Yes its not nice for those who are affected, but bottom line there were not enough players playing in that region to warrant hosting servers in their region. If their are plenty of players on the East Coast and in Europe playing and this server merge turns out to be nothing but good news for those in that region, then carry on playing, carry on subbing and dont for one second feel guilty or hate on EA/Bioware for shutting down APAC servers. Yes it sucks, yes its a shame, No the game isnt going belly up, Nor is it ******** on its main player base. It was a business decision, their arent enough players in those regions to sustain those servers so their gone. end of. If you're on the East Coast or Europe and enjoy the game, well keep enjoying it. This isnt anyone's fault other than SWTOR not being all that popular in the APAC region. Guess what? It's no diffrent to the Xbox being a poor seller in Japan and MS reducing the number of units and games it sends to the region. Yea im sure it sucks to the small number of people who picked up an Xbox but those are the risks buying any product or service. Might not be there forever. Bioware and EA for all their evilness havent done anything any other business wouldnt do in a situation like this. I think people need to pause, breath and if your in APAC. I'm sorry it sucks, but go forth and find another MMO that's popular in your region.
  12. It's unfortunate but this how I see it too, there isnt enough players contributing either via subscription or CM to maintain servers in that region. regarding the last copuple of posts - People can argue that its very short sighted and not a very good investment. But end of the day if you can sever the service to a small minority of people and focus a better service on your larger marjority. Well its a no brainer. Its what any business would do. I'm not saying we ARE going to get a better serivce/experience in europe or on the east coast, but end of the day be you in the business of making cakes or providing servers. If the cost of providing said cakes to one particularly region isnt worth the income the sales of those cakes are making. You stop doing it. The cake maker doesnt care if you go enjoy the cakes somewhere else local to you aka the WOW good will reference. They only care whether the cost of providing their own goods and services is worth the return in investment. APAC clearly isnt.
  13. And that is an indicator as to why this migration was likely performed. Their arent enough players playing in that region to justify the cost of maintaining servers in those locations. On the East Coast and Europe (where I assume the majority of SWTOR player base is) following the migration we now play between 27ms and 37ms at all times. I appreciate its frustrating, but it doesnt make sense as a business to operate servers in a region they arent seeing a return on investment.
  14. I dont mean to undermine or diminsh your frustrations, but looking at this from a business perspective - If Bioware EA previously got rid of the APAC servers and now the west coast servers are also gone with the United Forces project. My first assumption would be, their arent as many of you playing from there as you think. Therefor and I appreciate this doesnt help the frustration, with the minority of players playing in APAC compared to the East Coast of the U.S and Europe. Maintaining servers and connectivity for a player base that possibly makes up less than 1% of the overall player base simply doesnt make sense financially. Again, doesnt resolve your issues or frustrations but thus is life I'm afraid. Companies are in the business of making money and the returns from operating servers for your region I guess didnt bring in enough.
  15. Apologies if this has already been asked, but when or where do you get this? I've been sub'd for about 2 weeks but did'nt receive this speeder yesterday. Thank you.
  16. Oh goodie, and everyone was just saying how we'd all love to see yet another post like this..... Oh no wait, no we werent.
  17. Although I dont necessarily agree or disagree with anything you've said... Hat off to you, because you did at least make me smile. I read that and couldnt help reach the end and think "Hell Yea!!.. What he said!!" lol
  18. Its not just a Boolean field, if it was you wouldnt be able to to the following - 1 - Disable all GFX CP AA options, for example Nvidia Overide APP settings. 2 - Open the game_client.ini file 3 - Enter Anti_Aliasing = 16 I have all my nvdia control panel settings set to APP Controlled, I dont force the GFX CP to do anything. Yet I still have it running with 16x Anti Aliasing. If it was a simple 1 = on and 0 = off you simply wouldnt be able to do what me and many other people have done which is change the AA entry in the game_client.ini reading Anti_Aliasing = 1 to Anti Aliasing = 16 If anything this little HIGH / LOW option that Bioware have added has actually made it more convuluted because setting it to high just sets the Anti_Aliasing = 1 (on) it doesnt specify any kinda of sampling rate, which means unless you have your GFX Card CP set to force AA on at say 8x it doesnt actually do anything. It's absurd, and another reason this Engine has only been adopted by about 4 titles during its entire life cycle. Its a terrible engine.
  19. Ok, I'll say this here as well as the other thread - High simply adds the following argument to the game_client.ini Anti_Aliasing = 1 the 1 argument, simply means means AA is on, but it requires the graphics card to tell it what sample rate AA must run at. So if in your GFX Control Panel you have say AA set to APP Controlled, you wont see any change. If you have it set to 4x AA the = 1 in the Game_Client.ini uses this information and renders AA at 4x Sample Rate. If you set AA to LOW or OFF the game_client.ini adds the following Anti_Aliasing = 0 this means AA is off, no matter what, including ignoring any GFX CP settings. Those pay attention may have noticed I included LOW here too, yes thats right LOW does nothing. If you want AA to work you either need to do one of two things - Set AA to HIGH in game, then in your GFX CP force APP Override and set AA to 2,4,6,8 or 16 etc OR Edit the game_client.ini and change anti_aliasing to read Anti_Aliasing = 4 (for 4x sample rate, you can set it to 2, 6, 8 or whatever you like. Save the file, then set the game_client.ini to read only so SW cant write to it. You should now have AA running.
  20. No it canot, AA and AF is applied to the entire image, in fact the AA/AF process isnt even aware of what shapes and objects it is smoothing, its literally a process applied to the entire image. You cannot AA an object like your character and then choose not to AA shadows. Anyone who thinks there AA is working, I'm sorry but it simply isnt if you've enable it ingame, if however you've edited your game_client.ini then yes it is, although that in itself bring with it its only issues i.e Nvidia Cards having problems with Holo Comms
