  1. I am interpreting this as being current playable species because of what is said next: I eagerly await more info on this as it becomes available. I would love to see Cathar, Bothan, Togorian, and Devaronian as playable races. But, that's just me. I'm looking forward to the Legacy System. Thanks, BioWare!
  2. I fail to see what stereotypes you are referring to. As I said: Take note of what I said: So, if there are stereotypes in the list I created, I greatly apologize. That was not intentional. I was just making note of some of the companions' personalities. That being said, the only one I could see as a possible stereotype is what I said about Elara Dorne: Perhaps 'conservative' was the wrong word to use. But, she does seem very much into regulation. That being said, I have a male Trooper and plan on going through the romance story arch with Elara just to see how she reacts to it. Also, it will be interesting to see how she will react to a S/S relationship, if BW decides to make her Bi or even a Lesbian. Will she struggle with it or will she fully accept it right from the start? Note: Edited for clarification and to avoid any off topic discussion, which I probably failed at anyway.
  3. My guess is they will implement new romance options/companions once they fix what is already bugged/broken in the game. At this point, if they try and implement something on a large scale, and I imagine new companions and their story lines would fall under 'large scale content' (which could mean an expansion pack), the game could possibly break even more. It would be like adding more bricks onto a wall that isn't as stable as it should be, if that makes sense. BW has already stated that they would rather get some things fixed first. It doesn't mean they aren't working on it. After all, they have teams working on certain aspects of the game. Source: http://www.swtor.com/blog/developer-blog-busting-bugs-and-fixing-exploits I know it's getting frustrating that they haven't even given a ballpark ETA and they are posting the same 'canned' response. But, perhaps they are telling us all they can at this moment. Personally, I would rather BW takes their time on this instead of rushing. I know people say that this should have been in at launch and we can only speculate why it wasn't. I also think there is more to the story than they are telling us. BW is the producer. EA is the publisher. My theory is EA only allowed BW to include certain things at launch for whatever reason. Of course, that is just a theory and I could be wrong.
  4. I had actually posted this in another thread. It is updated to include other companions I or my husband have acquired. Remember this is my opinion and my opinion only. I have no delusion that my opinion = fact. That being said here are my thoughts on some of the characters. I know the list is short compared to what is in the game. I'm in college right now, so playing hasn't been happening too often. Thus is the life of a student. -shrug- Just as a side note: Sometimes you really can't tell if what a person's preference is by looking at them or hearing them talk for five minutes. Sometimes, it takes actually getting to know a person. Not that I know these characters very well...but you get the idea. Jedi Consular: Theran Cedrex: Bi/Gay. Could be the reason he has a holographic girlfriend...Just speculation of course. (I haven't gotten him on my Jedi Consular yet, but my husband has, so I have only been able to see the part of the Consular's story where you acquire Theran as a companion.) Trooper: Aric Jorgan: Bi/Gay/Straight... No idea. I'm just barely in Act 2 on my Trooper and have just high enough affection with Aric that he is starting to open up. Elara Dorne: Straight. Personally, I think she's too conservative for anything else, as of right now anyway. (I actually had her in my party when I was on Nar Shaddaa. She really doesn't like it when your Trooper goes against regulation and flirts with the SIS agent. I did it just to piss her off. ) Bounty Hunter: Mako: To be honest, she comes across as being a little sister to even be a romance option. That aside, I would say straight. Smuggler: Corso Riggs: Straight. It could be his good ol'boy attitude, or the fact that with him it seems to be "what you see is what you get", I don't know, but it just seems to me that he doesn't come across as being into men. Though, this could change with whatever BioWare has in mind for future companion romance story lines. Risha: Bi or just straight-up lesbian. She mentions having a history with an NPC on Taris. Where I am in the story line, that could mean anything. Until I see what BioWare's future plans are with this char, I'm going with partners in crime. Imperial Agent: Kaliyo: Iffy/Bi. Of the characters I've run across this far in the game, she is the hardest to figure out. At least on the Sith side. Vector:Straight/Bi. I can't explain why this is. Maybe he just seems as though he would be a little more open to other options. Sith Warrior Vette: Straight/Bi. I don't know that I can see her as a complete lesbian, then again my SW is only level 13, so I haven't played long enough on this char to get a handle on Vette's personality other than she seems to be very happy-go-lucky. Again, what I have listed is merely speculation from someone who likes to write and pays attention to the character of people, fiction and non-fiction. To state the obvious, a lot of these characters have current story lines and personalities that could progress as the game progresses. It will be really interesting to see what BioWare has in mind for them. Behind the scenes: 1- I wonder if BioWare already has some script written for future romance interactions. 2- It wouldn't surprise me if BioWare already has voice actors all lined up and ready to go for future story lines. 3- I understand this is a business and BioWare needs to do what is most financially beneficial to them (after all, if the company takes a financial hit because of a bad decision, future content will most likely not happen). If that means making the current companions/romance options Bi, so be it. 4- It doesn't matter how well a game is made or what changes are implemented , people will still complain. Not everyone can be satisfied. Edit: Blarg. I should have posted this after I had some sleep. Just to clarify, I haven't gotten far on some story lines. As I said before, what I have posted is speculation and I even make mention, in some of my explanations (which should be in all explanations, but I didn't feel like repeating myself), that companion story line/personalities could change as the character experiences growth. Again, this is all dependent on what BW has in mind for the future of these, and other, companions.
  5. Hmm. I actually have no idea. Though I've heard of George Carlin, I've never actually listened to him. I've only heard the question asked on occasion, mostly by members of my family.
  6. Here's one people have most likely heard before: Why do we park on a driveway, but drive on a parkway?
  7. In my opinion, for those who like simplicity, Sosibius Jedi/Sith code wallpaper is good. For those who like detail, Brosepiine's rendition is good. That being said, I'm going to grab Brosephiine's Jedi code rendition and Sosibus' Sith rendition (I hope that's OK ), because I'm not sure I like the font Brosephiine used for the Sith code.
  8. Who am I? I'm a full times student working toward a BA in Sociology. I am looking at going to grad school, but it probably won't happen for another couple of years. But, what I really want to do is get published. I write as a hobby. What class did I pick? [and] Why? I have male and female toons in each class. Right now, I'm just playing through the story lines. I design my characters after potential characters for my books. I use the dialogue choices to help simulate how my book characters might react in certain situations. I've actually ended up changing some personalities in the process. I hope that makes sense. I'm not great at explaining things very well.
  9. Greetings from ISU!!! I did a search and didn't see an "Idaho check-in" thread. So, here it is! I'm not sure how many people from Idaho play, but in case there are a few...
  10. And, this is why I am sticking with the game. I figure with a lot of players rage quitting, BioWare needs a few loyal players who will stick with them no matter what. Besides, there are a lot of aspects to the game that far outweigh some of the glitches. And, yes, I have run into at least one potentially "game breaking" glitch, but there's a workaround for it. So, I use it an move on with the show. Personally, I think BioWare is doing a fantastic job in spite of who they are working with. I say keep bringing on those patches. Eventually, TOR will be where BioWare wanted it to be before release. And, then they can start concentrating on all of the nifty goodies they have in store for the game. I'm okay with that. Of course, I'm just one person.
  11. Your explanations make sense and I can see people understanding/speaking some of the basic, mainstream languages. To an extent, I can even buy into people understanding all of the beeps and blips of the astromech droids. But, what gets me is that everyone (player characters) seems to understand Wookie, Urdnot (sp?), and some of the other not so mainstream languages. I can see how understanding every language a character runs into fits into game mechanics. But, I don't think I'd be able to buy into this aspect of a character when speaking about story and lore. As I said before, I haven't read the comics or books. I am going to add the books onto my summer reading list. I just hope I don't run into the character understanding every language under the stars, unless he or she is a linguist. To me that's just not believable for a character.
  12. This is something that I have always wondered. How is it that everyone seems to understand, not necessarily speak, but understand every other person's language? This includes the languages of species that speak ancient tongues, like Khem Val does. I don't know too much about Star Wars lore, so I don't know if this has ever been explained in any of the comics or books. Do the inhabitants of the Star Wars universe have a part of their brain that is more developed and thus they are able to understand languages better? Or does the Force bless everyone with the gift of tongues when they are born? This is an honest to goodness question born of unfettered curiosity. Post your thoughts/theories here.
  13. Ah. That makes more sense. I haven't tried the PvP aspect, but I have seen a lot of people fussing about the PvP. I'm enjoying the PvE aspect, in spite of the bugs. But, really the only truly annoying bug I've seen is the "Cannot see target" bug even though I am in line of sight with nothing in the way or even practically on top of the bug. It's not enough to make me quit though. I guess I'm just stubborn. Saudi Arabia. If you are in the military, thank you for your service. I have family who are currently serving or who have served.
  14. You asked this question in the PvP forums? I've actually seen a theory going around that the people who are satisfied with the game don't post on the forums. This isn't 100% true. I've seen quite a few players post they do enjoy the game in spite of the glitches and bugs. The positive posts are out there. You just have to sift through all of the negativity and whining to find them.
  15. With the implementation of new companions, will 'breaking' points be also added? For example, if you have your BH continuously kill innocents will Mako leave or if you have your SW treat Vette poorly on a regular basis, will she leave?
  16. 1. SW:TOR: I am really enjoying the stories for the individual classes and can't wait (but I will) to see what is in store for the future. I will most likely be with this game for as long as it is playable. 2. PoTP: Prophecies of the Pattern: (MuD based on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.) I played the game because I enjoy the books and I really liked the in-game and forums RPG aspect. 3. WoW: I've tried other fantasy MMOs and like this one the best. I enjoy the achievement system and some of the humor in the quests. Not to mention the range of races I could play. Other than that, it didn't grab my interest nearly to the extent the other two mentioned games did.
  17. This, 100%. My husband and I have been playing video and pen and paper games since the time of Atari. We are poor college students, so date night usually consists of watching movies or running on either our Imperial Agent/Bounty Hunter team or our Trooper/Jedi Consular team. It's nice being with someone who shares some of the same interests I do.

  19. That's why I posted the link to the blog (it is also posted in Brosephiine's Guide to Being Patient with Game Devs). So, hopefully we can get people to read at least the first few paragraphs, if not the whole thing. Of course, that might be a false hope, but it's worth a try. -shrug- What kind of repercussions would you like to see? Hmmm....maybe this can be the topic of this thread. -goes to edit the first post-
  20. To the Devs: I wasn't sure if this should go here or the Story and Lore forums... To everyone else: I've noticed that because it was stated that the words "gay" and "lesbian" don't exist people are taking it to mean that it was stated that SS relationships don't exist at all, when that isn't the case, especially since it has already been stated that BW does indeed plan on implementing more romance options. In fact, a BW employee even posted something about this earlier in this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=189316&page=47 It is a bit buried, so here it is again I would also like to direct people to this blog by the Executive Producer: http://www.swtor.com/blog/developer-blog-busting-bugs-and-fixing-exploits This maybe the closest answer people have to why certain content hasn't been implemented yet, so I'd advise you to read it as you have time. It will most likely make some people mad, but people will be mad no matter what BW/EA does. Side note: Elexier is attempting to do a poll on this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=189316 There are a few good ideas posted. If you haven't looked at it, go check it out and vote. WTB Polls for the forums. ******** EDIT: First: Sorry! I'm still new at this forum posting thing. Second: The above links I posted so people are aware of what is going on. Now on to the topic, which I didn't really have at first until Celticprince brought up something interesting. This particular poster brought up that romantic story lines have "no repurcusions and no impact on your class story." Questions: 1: Who would you like to see as a romance option? (I'm sure this has been asked on other threads so I hope I'm not hijacking anyone's thread.) 2: What kind of repercussions would you like to see as a result of romance relationships? This can be for SS or OS relationships. Post your thoughts/ideas.
  21. Spiffy! Now, I wonder if we can get the devs or whoever is in charge of the forums to sticky this guide...
  22. Here's a blog post from Executive Producer, Rich Vogel: Developer Blog: Busting Bugs and Fixing Exploits It talks about how the devs "go about determining when to fix an issue in the live game, whether it is a bug or an exploit [and] how [they] balance [their] efforts when it comes to fixing bugs and developing new content." I believe that is the gist of it... He also asks the community to, "Please remember, if we don’t respond publicly to a bug that does not mean we are not going to fix it." Will this help back up what the guide is saying?
  23. And, there it is in orange Sorry to the OP for going off topic when I did. Just to sum up what my posts (on topic) have been: I vote for 3, for the most part. I just hope that when BW does implement SGRs, they do so in a way that doesn't ruin the current story lines or feel awkward. If that means taking time to figure out how to do so, then so be it. What we as a community needs to do is be patient.
