  1. I've tried all four steps. I'm at step number 4 and I can't even log into the game to start the download to reinstall the game. I've also tried to run as Admin and Windows 8 compatibility mode. I've exited out of my antivirus program. Restarted my computer after each step and I still can't get this to work. I just restarted my sub too, hoping to enjoy a good gaming session today, but instead I've been trying to get the game to work. I like this game and I'd hate to permanently cancel my sub. Please get this fixed. Update: I ran a virus scan and got this far: My OS is Windows 10. I waited 7 minutes to see if it would progress on its own (I actually timed it.) I'm going to try steps 1 through 3 again. Update: Going through steps 1-3. On step 2, this is what I run into after two or three times of going through the steps. I have scrolled down the task manager items to make sure there isn't a SWTOR process showing that it's running. When I end the process it shuts down the installer, which I need to either repair the launcher or remove the game. The only SWTOR thing showing in the tray is the installer. This is the point when I have to restart the computer and then continue with step 2. 1. Waited. Didn't work. 2. Followed this step. Ran into the issue of it saying another instance of SWTOR is running, when it isn't. Tried to run it as an Admin and still ran into the same issue. Deleted the metafile.json files. Restarted my computer. Redownloaded the launcher from the link above. Entered my login information. Clicked 'Log In' and this: The blue circle keeps spinning and doesn't stop. Moving to step 3. 3. Deleted the metafile.json files. Closed the launcher from the tray. Opened the Star Wars: The Old Republic Maintenance and ran into the same error message: "An instance of the SWTOR Launcher is currently running. Please exit the launcher before continuing with modification." Closed that out. Clicked on the launcher that is downloaded when reinstalling the game and was able to move past the Rules of Conduct click to agree page. Now I'm waiting for the launcher to check for updates. Now I just need to hurry up and wait. I shouldn't have to wait too long, right? 😬 I did have to wait a little bit, so I exited out of the launcher and opened it again. Now, it's downloading the game. Once the game is installed, only time will tell if it helped with the launcher issue. I will update as soon as I know. Update: I was able to get into the game and play after reinstalling. However, I just tried to log into the game and I find myself having to go through the steps again. An uninstall/reinstall of the game didn't work. At least, not for me. This time I flipped steps 2 and 3. I deleted the metafile.json first and then did the repair from this link: https://www.swtor.com/game/download (same as the link in the dev post) and that got me past being stuck on checking for updates. I can now click play. Next time I go in to play the game I will see if flipping steps 2 and 3 will work again. It didn't work. What did seem to work for my set up is running my malware protection software, restarted computer, and did step 2. I tried it a couple of times. It worked. Not saying it will work for everyone, but it might help someone. At least until this gets fixed.
  2. I click on the link "Edit About me" on my swtor.com profile, however I can't edit any of the information. I have tried doing so in Firefox and no results. I disabled all of my Chrome extensions that I had added on with no results. My Chrome browser is up to date. Never mind. I figured it out. Please disregard and delete.
  3. Fantastic! Thank you much. Now, about the romance bugs we are running into, any chance those are being fixed in the future?
  4. I noticed in some of the threads people were saying this bug was happening on one or two of their characters. I wonder if those characters are boosted characters. I haven't played levels 1-50 on a character that is going to romance Lana, so I can't honestly compare.
  5. Thank you for this. It worked. I still have Koth, though I don't know if that makes a difference.
  6. The first time I went through the chapters, everything went smoothly. No glitches. Now, I'm doing a replay of the chapters and ran into this bug. Tried restarting the chapter a couple of times, with no luck. The only thing I haven't done is completely log out of the game. Edit: It seems there is a workaround found on this page: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=948662&page=2 It worked for me.
  7. Katana blades would be cool. I would also like to see Tonfa Sabers. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tonfa-style_energy_sword
  8. Throwing in my support for a class story pack. I would actually suggest one class per pack, this way players who prefer to play one class over another won't have to deal with getting content for a class they don't particularly care for. Also add in a couple of companions complete with a story line of their own for the player to complete. (An option to change factions by following a story line would be nice as well as the ability to influence companions to either the Light Side or Dark Side.)
  9. *glances around the room, leg bouncing, while listening to the other players* *finally summons enough courage, pops up and says,* Hi. I'm Lady Night Arrow and I'm an altoholic. I have 36 characters across three servers. One purely Empire, one purely Republic, and one a mix of the two. I play a mix of male and female characters. *quickly reclaims her seat*
  10. I am also a solo player, for the most part. I like the fact this game not only allows for solo play, but allows people to group as they so choose. I don't solo 100% of the time. In fact, my husband and I have one team in each faction. So, there are days when we group together to do quests and there are days when I solo. I don't have a level 50 as of yet, but I do have two characters that are close. I already have several things in mind I am going to do once I reach level 50 (craft, do heroics I didn't do, run any flashpoints I haven't done, gear my crew...). In my opinion, 'end game' is non existent until BW/EA puts out the very last content patch/expansion pack this game will ever see. Until then, content will continue to come. If it happens that I get bored, I won't unsub, I'll just go find something else to do and come back to the game a couple of weeks later. Yes, I am a casual and I have other activities I do besides play SWTOR (write, read, play Sims 3, watch Anime, exercise...). There really is nothing wrong with being a solo and/or casual player, just as there is nothing wrong with being a hardcore player who likes to group a lot. (In the end, it's really the attitude that either of these 'types' of players exhibit that matters most, but that's a different topic for another day.)
  11. Storylines Fantastic Job! I love the class story lines. So far, the IA agent is my favorite. Irk: Doing the same non-class story line over and over and over again. Granted some of the dialogue options are different depending on your class, if you are human or not, or what gender you are. But, for the most part, it's the same. Suggestion:This has probably been suggested before, but... Open up some planets/areas with different non-class story lines. Now, I know different story lines/quests can be opened up/created on existing planets because there are points in the class story lines where you go and revisit some planets at higher levels. So, the areas are there. Basically, open up some alternate leveling areas. I'm not saying this is going to be easy and I know it will take time to do because of all the work that will go into it. I am saying it would be nice to have. Possible problems I can see:Class story lines. How will they work in relation to other non-class story lines? Possible solution/suggestion: I can see the need for the starting planets. Once a player is done with those, what if there were one or more kiosks on fleet that could offer different class story line options. These kiosks could be found in the same area as the class trainers on fleet. It would have a brief description about each of the class story lines and the player could choose the one they would like to do and follow that one through to the end (Act I, Act II...). Then the player could come back and do the other story lines, if they so choose. Possible problems I can see: Besides time and money and whatever else is needed to make these suggestions happen. Mob levels. Possible solution/suggestion:Scale the mobs to the player's level. I can imagine that this is not a simple solution as none of what I am suggesting falls under the category of 'a simple task'. Now, I realize it has already been stated that there are more story lines in the works, but there hasn't been much detail given about them. That's fine. i realize certain details can be given at certain times. That being said, I am looking forward to what is planned. Until those are implemented, my space bar is going to get some loving. -shrug- Companions Fantastic Job!I love the fact companions help with crafting. It makes doing crafting bearable. I also like the fact when I'm soloing I have a companion to be canon fodder...I mean help me survive. Irk: (Such a funny word. -coughs- Sorry.) Having to attack a mob, while in a group, just to get my companion to attack. I'll explain. I have a level 43 Combat Medic who I run around with as a team with my husband's level 43 Sage. When my husband sends Qyzen Fess to tank and then has his Sage attack, Aric just stands there and will continue to stand around until I attack the mob or it attacks me. Unless I'm doing something wrong. Suggestion: Implement a mechanic that will...allow...trigger the companion to attack the mobs when other party members do so as well. For example, when my husband's Sage attacks, Aric will too so I can concentrate on getting ready to heal when I need to. I realize some of what I suggested is a tall order and it may never be filled. It has also come to my attention there are other players who will have better suggestions. In spite of the irk I have posted, I do enjoy the game and look forward to future content. If I have anything other suggestions, I'll post it here. (Side note: I just thought of the story line suggestion this morning when I was half awake, so if anyone has anything to add to it/thinks of something I haven't yet, feel free to mention it.)
  12. Good point. It will take...careful judgment as to which 'community' to listen to. My post may get deleted for stating the following opinion, but I'm going to do so anyway. I would trust BioWare to make sound judgements as to which 'community' to listen to before I trust EA. Then again I don't know how much power BW has to smack EA's clawed hands when EA reaches for the cookie jar, if that makes sense. From what I've seen, BW probably doesn't have much power over certain, if not all, aspects of this game. That being said, if the publisher has more to say over when things are released or what goes in and when, then 1.3 may be released on Tuesday regardless of whether or not it is ready. No matter when 1.3 (or any patch for that matter) is released and what issues have been addressed with this and other patches, people from any of these 'communities' will complain. You can't please everyone.
  13. Sometimes certain emotions, such as sarcasm (or I should say especially sarcasm), can be really easy to miss when you are just reading words instead of hearing them. It's best to put emotion tags (/sarcasm) or smilies () when writing sarcastic posts. Just saying. Take it for what it's worth. -shrug- As for me, I'm looking forward to 1.3 except for maybe being able to augment everything under the sun. It made more sense to me to have an augment slot appear on a...well for lack of a better word...Masterwork piece (it felt awkward to say crited crafted piece ). Having the augment slot appear on a Masterwork piece made me feel as though I earned it. Having it handed to me on a silver plater, not so much. Just my opinion of course. But, I agree. 1.3 should wait because...because I won't be around to patch my game on Tuesday. I think it should wait another two weeks. It gives me something to look forward to.
