  1. You dramatically missed his point there. Reread the part where he says "Just let us pick at level 1 ffs" You see, unlike other poster's, he's not asking for an advanced class change, he's asking that core classes like Trooper, Knight, Guardian and Smuggler be removed, in favor of rolling your advanced class at level 1. Now, he wouldn't rage against other games because other games don't have this 'advanced class' system and they do let your choose your class and level as your class from level 1. Hope that clears things up.
  2. He's in the class forum, posting about classes... Are you sure that you are in the right place?
  3. Not to harp on the lightning thing some more but, a Sage pretty much needs a ranged power that refunds resources. Every other ranged character has one from level one, but because the Sage base class is the Consular, a melee class, Bioware magicked their resource positive ability into being by reducing the cost and cooldown of an ability they share with Shadows. Different means of reaching the same end. It could be worse, Assault Spec commandos get to run away AND slow you while casting their resource refunding power.
  4. What gets me about this discussion is that nobody is addressing the topic of whether advanced class switching would make this game better. Some folks have claimed this would lead to a lot more FOTM builds, though logically, it could only double the number of FOTM builds at most and then only if classes were designed so poorly that a large number of players would be willing to jump ship to a completely different play style for that edge. So, from this point on, I propose that any further arguments for, or against, advanced class switching be followed with, "I believe this because" and then a simple explanation of your reasons. If you find yourself unable to give an explanation for your reasons, than I further propose you just not bother posting. I'll begin. I think that advanced class switching would add value to the subscription cost of the game, increase retention and overall player satisfaction. I believe this because the ability to switch your advanced class doubles the number of play experiences without requiring that players invest the 50+ hours of spacebar spam that it takes to get an alt to max level. In other games, WoW most notably, there are classes with dramatically and widely disparate talent trees. Shamans, Druids and Paladins come most distinctly to mind. With one of these classes you can choose between three, or four, entirely different play experiences just be respeccing. That makes your character feel really dynamic and, for those of us interested in mastering three or four specs, ToR doesn't have that. Sure, most Advanced Classes can choose between one of two roles, but it's not as challenging, and it's not as fun. Advanced class switching would make any ToR player more dynamic and more interesting than even the most mutable druid. I believe this is good for the game because I've played games that restrict your end game experience, or put onerous time requirements for expanding that end game experience, I personally did not enjoy those games and I don't play those games any longer.
  5. I think you mean "I call shenanigans" on the ops claim. Saying Hooligan would require throwing an empty guinness bottle at his head during a football match.
  6. OP's a commando... And Assault Spec for commandos is okay... it's not great, it's not "OMG, you're failing at AS, you must be a baddy or a troll" and it's certainly more work than Gunnery. Now, for what incendiary round is, I think it's fine. It allows free use and synergy with all of AS' talents that require your enemy be on fire. If Bioware were to try and buff it so it felt more powerful, it would likely lead to them increasing it's ammo cost or giving it a cooldown so that using it had more tactical significance, and THAT would be another headache I don't need.
  7. I agree with the animation and the use of quick thinking and tactics to negate a lucky proc. Which is why my answer has always been to nerf shock. Give shock a similar delay and a similarly visible extra damage proc.
  8. Qyzen's primary stat is AIM because they want him to wear trooper gear, not guardian gear. All other strangeness flows from that... with the exception of Qyzen not having a lot of customization. If they switched Qyzen to strength they'd either have to gear him up like a Jedi, I'm talking robes on a lizard. Or, they'd have to lock his appearance down into something unaffected by gear, like Bowdarr and Khem Val. Personally, I'd prefer they add a modable tech blade that uses gun barrels instead of hilts.
  9. As Miriallen I know it's not easy being green.
  10. If not, buffing the stats on autocannons and sniper rifles would be a quick fix.
  11. Hilarious read. I snickered more than once and you gave a pretty good rundown of Sage limitations. Still, if those limitations are less severe than the limitations of other classes, you're going to be due some yellow foam balancing.
  12. That's an intelligent, well thought out post, and I couldn't have said it better myself. Expect those people who insist on beating this dead horse to ignore you utterly.
  13. I agree, the sooner they add a 3 second delay to Bounty Hunters the better off things will be.
  14. Yeah, Rifts had a really flexible arrangement. It's unfortunate that the game didn't really have anything else to draw me in.
  15. Kudos, you have provided a simple repetition of information that we all already know. Or, in other words, you've literally added nothing to the discussion, provided no interesting insights, and wasted your time and the time of any of us who made the mistake of reading your post. Next time, try harder to come up with a reason WHY the status quo is desirable over the suggested changes. Incorrect. AC's do not have their own "story". AC's share a story . As far as REROLLING!!!! being a selling point, I guess that's a matter of opinion but in light of the fact that AC's share a story, there is significantly less reroll value between AC's. I'd also disagree with you here. As has been pointed out, things like role selection matter a great deal. There will be no FOTM AC Switch for Knights that want to tank because no patches will suddenly make Sentinels better at it than Guardians. There will be no FOTM AC Switch for Consulars who want to heal, unless they do something really over balanced with the Shadow Balance tree. Then you have things like play style that matter. A trooper who wants to do DPS might choose what the 'best performing AC' is, or he'll choose his AC based on whether he wants to play as ranged or melee. All of this leading into the most important point, by balancing the game well, they can largely avoid FOTM builds entirely. If they really focus on making sure that all specs are within 5% of each other, it will solve this problem and make the game stronger and more competitive overall.
  16. Now THAT would be evidence of Bioware "killing hybrid specs." I'm not saying there aren't advantages to it, for one in the WoW model they could give a character a spec defining ability at level 10 without worrying about it becoming part of some FOTM exploit-hybrid. And then there's the tons of back end work it saves. However, WoW specs had been developed and refined for years before they took that plunge, this game just doesn't have that kind of polish yet.
  17. Yeah, I'm with you on that. The defense tree seems to need even more work than the Shadow fixes.
  18. Balance Shadow/Madness Rogue is a hybrid/melee class with stealth capability that gets a decent amount of self healing out of their force in balance move. On the negative side, about half of the attacks you make will be force powers and it's one of the most complicated rotations in game.
  19. Well, you see, your post claimed they were being lazy by not balancing around hybrid specs, I think. Your use of punctuation, capitalization and sentence fragments sometimes makes you hard to understand. I was pointing out that your definition of lazy was vastly different than mine, and apparently theirs. Now, if you think a discussion of how lazy the developers are being is irrelevant, I'd completely agree with that and suggest you not make that argument again. This line of reasoning was brought up by you, we are discussing it because of you, if it's suddenly "off topic," that is on you. Man up, take some responsibility and don't try to blame me when your childish insults make you so easy to correct and then dismiss. PS; Two edits ago you were pretending to take the high road and claiming you were going to ignore this. Of course, I expect a little confusion from a guy who ignores things by calling vocal attention to them. PPS: The above paragraph is an example of something that is actually personal. As a point of comparison. Edit 2: A second edit, addressed to me, claiming you're not responding to me, and made all the more hilarious by claiming that I don't know when to quit.
  20. I'm not sure I'd call balancing 24 different specs for both pvp and pve, while making new content, lazy. But if you insist on a higher degree of work from your game developers, you're welcome to find another game...
  21. Dual spec adds a lot of flexibility and value to the cost of the subscription.
  22. Incendiary round is supposed to guaranty use of high impact bolt procs by giving you a refreshable fire dot on demand. It's not made to be spammed, it's not made to be our core damage ability, it's a quality of life power that takes excessive RNG out of our rotation. I prefer it this way and, if our spec is due for a buff, I'd rather it come in additional oomph put on plasma cells or assault plastique.
  23. But you see, you flying around and shooting fireballs out of your *** would damage in game immersion, will likely be over balanced, and has only ever been asked for by one person. Dual spec does not hurt game immersion in the least, is not over balanced, and has been asked for by a lot of people. My advice to you good sir, stop posting until you have something to say.
