  1. Been canceled, just waiting for my subscription to run out!!! (too bad I paid for 3 months) Why? I've already written several posts on why but I'll throw up a few points: - Crappy customer service - Lack of REAL communication from developers - Patches are slow and seem to break more things than they fix - Archaic UI - Lack of things to do at level cap (yes I have datacrons, world bosses, gear, maxed profs, maxed companion affection, daily commendation gear, and alts) - Empty, static, linear, lifeless world - Many missing quality-of-life features - Massive amount of bugs I've endured. Why did I pay you just to beta test your game?!?!
  2. Actually, it just set a record - most in-game weddings in a 24 hour period. ^.^
  3. I agree OP. Perhaps, if they had done some of the things you suggested I wouldn't have cancelled my account (too bad I had to pay for 3 months first). I haven't logged into the game in months and don't feel like I've missed a thing. I hit 50, did 2 raids and was fully geared. I had all 3 crew skills maxed, I had all my companions affection maxed, I had my datacrons and the relic they can be combined into, as well as most world bosses killed. All of this was done within 2-3 weeks of hitting 50. I tried to roll a couple alts but running through the same planets, doing the same crap, ended up with me giving up on them around level 30. Honestly, what your looking for currently only exists in single player RPGs. I've spent the last month playing KOTOR, DA:O (for the billionth time), LoL, and FFXIII-2 (WAY BETTER than 12/13 imo). All of which are FAR more enjoyable time sinks than SWTOR. Also, Tera is surprisingly awesome! If you can hang with the extremely effeminate guys and revealing armor, I definitely suggest looking into it. Next beta weekend starts the 24th.
  4. I agree, combat logs are totally unnecessary. But I WANT it. They've already stated it's in the works. Once it's in, you can just ignore that tab since you don't want it. I can't wait for it, even if it only shows what I do and what happens to me.
  5. For raids I would use voice chat and when goofing around with RL friends, I do use voice chat. But I am not going to give some random derps that I'm doing a flightpoint with my vent server or skype name. Honestly, the game doesn't require enough coordination (even in raids) to necessitate voice chat. Guess I'm just old fashioned.
  6. I now know that my reasons for wanting macros are. . . weird. I want to make a macro so I can let other people know when they need to interrupt. Something like, "someone interrupt" that I can hit when my interrupt is on cool down. Also, I've always had a /poke macro that I like to spam to irritate people. I miss it. It's just not the same when I have to open chat, type it out, hit enter and then keep hitting enter, up, and enter again. ^.^
  7. I don't believe I have attacked anyone. I think I'm being downright friendly considering all the vitriol that is being spewed at me. I'm just having a wonderful time with this little pseudo debate we have going on. I might be guilty of trolling a bit. But honestly, who isn't? ^.^
  8. The only one that I intentionally pulled from WoW was scheduling Ilum. It worked well for Wintergrasp. Hundreds of people rushed to participate in it (back when I was playing anyways). Currently, I see dozens of posts daily about how people are struggling to complete their Ilum stuff because there aren't enough people or they're getting zerged. I figured putting it on a timer may encourage both factions to bring lots of people. Other than that, most of my suggestions also existed in other games. You should maybe broaden your MMO horizons a bit.
  9. If you say so. I never said I prefer Rift's PvP. Unfortunately, I also didn't make clear it was their PvE that I prefer to SWTOR's. My bad. Had I participated in Rift's PvP I'm sure I would have come up with things I think would improve it as well. Either way, I never claimed any of my posts to be anything more than what they are: my opinion. I think SWTOR is weak, I stated why and gave some ideas on ways to fix it. That is all. ^.^ I'm inclined to believe you're a cranky fanboy/girl who doesn't like any sort of negativity about the game you have chosen to play. You're inclined to believe that I'm trying to force others to think they way I do. Cool beans. How about you get off the forums and go play the game you love so much or at least entertain me better... (something tells me this thread will be closed soon as it has mostly devolved into people attacking and trolling... Sad face. )
  10. That much is true. I like having abilities fire as soon as I press the button the first time. I like being able to move as soon as I finish casting something without worrying it might cancel the cast. And so on... But, in Rift, I did not participate in the PvP so I cannot comment on that element of the game. EDIT: Thank you for your permission. Also, I didn't flat out quote myself (using the /QUOTE crap) because that is not how I usually quote myself and therefor would not be your and Antiviolence's favorite thing. ^.^
  11. I don't believe I ever said I LIKED Rift. Nor did I say much of anything about their PvP (I couldn't as I rarely, if ever, participated in it). Additionally, I don't recall ever complaining about how long it takes to get gear in SWTOR. I've been incredibly lucky with the RNG and am already fully geared. Nice try though. ^.^ Besides, I don't really care if you think I'm credible or not. I am just bored and enjoying finally having something to do. EDIT: Apparently, in my old age, I've also managed to confuse what "sike" means... lolz
  12. To do Antiviolence and Reico's favorite thing, I'm just going to quote myself: Why does everybody say this?! Nobody gives a flying rat's behind about what WoW did or did not launch with. What I care about is THIS GAME - Star Wars: The Old Republic. To answer your last question, yes. Rift had a pretty solid launch with comparatively few bugs and tons of crap to do at max level. They were also very vocal with their community and quick to get their fixes out. The only reason I'm not still playing Rift is that I'm a little bit burned out with the high fantasy genre. It just floors me that a brand new, no-name company with a pathetic budget gave me better. I still play console games. Lots and lots of them. I don't like to pigeonhole myself into one genre.
  13. I did and do watch the videos as well as keep up-to-date thanks to the Dev Tracker part of the forums. However, my post is about what is CURRENTLY wrong. Can you log in right now and scale/reposition your UI? Didn't think so. Furthermore, if you watch the video, it appears the moveable elements have a blue or green border around them. Do the action bars have that border? Nope. What about the player and target frames? Nope. Therefor, repositioning of UI elements may still be something that isn't completely integrated once this future patch comes along. Why is it that people hit enter so much?
  14. If Bioware would FIX the problems I wouldn't need to repeat myself. ^.^ Also, most of the time I just complain. This time I offered some solutions (not that it matters). Sall good, I've got a bit of free time myself. However, if you were really good at what you do, you'd realize that this ENTIRE post is a copy+paste of one I made maybe 5 minutes before I posted this one. ^.^ Also, could you please hit enter a little less. Due to constantly having to zoom my camera out and my excessive trolling of the forums, my mouse wheel is starting to loosen up. I fail to see how I was roasted at all.... Thank you.
  15. Why do people bother posting if they really have nothing to say? Seeing as you replied only a minute after I posted tells me you didn't even read it.... Why bother even opening the thread if you don't care?
  16. Lots of things about this game frustrate me. Nothing angers me nearly as much as some of the idiots on the forums. People post legitimate issues they're having with the game and there's always at least one imbecile who says things like, "this game is fine," or "go back to WoW," or "pandas and pokemon --->," or "everything you've said is a non-issue." I don't understand why so many people think that constructive criticism is a bad thing. Without it, things would never improve. You're happy with a mediocre, nearly broken game, good, I'm glad that you feel it is worth your time and money. I want to like the game, I want it to be better, I want it to succeed, I don't want to go back to WoW, pandas and pokemon are NOT appealing to me. If the game doesn't improve, it will lose subscribers. Maybe the amount it loses will be small, maybe it will be large, I'm not psychic, I can't tell you what the future holds. What I do know is that the more money a company brings in, the more it can spend on improving and expanding the game. Go ahead and tell people to leave, if they want to leave they will. But if the game does become the barren wasteland that some predict I hope you feel at least a little bit responsible with all your, "if you don't like it, LEAVE!" type posts. /rant In more game-related areas, some of the things that irritate me are: - The massive amount of bugs in the game (many of which were reported in Beta) - The many Quality of Life features that are missing - The archaic UI - The lack of communication with the community - The poor loot system - The epic fail that is PvP - The poor itemization - The epic fail that is the GTN - The epic fail that is crafting - The epic fail that is end game Short of pushing back the release date there isn't much that can be done now to fix these problems. Some short term solutions could be: - Adding a combat log - Adding combat dummies - Adding a better LFG system that people are likely to use - Instead of a 17 hour cd that ports you to the fleet, make it a 1 hour cd to your ship. - Opening the game up to mods would alleviate nearly all UI complaints as well as allowing more developers to focus on other things but short of that: Allow for scaling of the UI elements Allow for repositioning of UI elements (including flytext/combat text) Give us the ability to make bars invisible Add a macro system (NOT like Rift's) Give us a Target-of-Target frame Give us an import UI option Give us the ability to toggle 'smart camera' Let us open more than 2 windows at a time Make completed crew skill missions go to the pending tab instead of closing my current windows Let me shift+click on people's names to see what level they are, what class/role they play, where they are and possibly what guild they're in - I don't expect Devs to address every single issue but like a once a week this-is-what-we're-working-on type post would be nice. - Give us a /roll command - Make 'Master Looter' actually work for normal mode operations or let us use Need before Greed - Give commendation vendors a 'buy-back for full refund' option with a time limit - Allow us to trade soulbound gear to people who are eligible (ie. they participated in the earning of said gear) with a time limit on it. - Get rid of Mercenary Commendations - Drop the massive amount of RNG on champ bags (maybe make bags for specific classes so people have some control) - Fix Ilum (perhaps making it a scheduled event. ie. every hour the Battle for Ilum starts) - Allow people to queue for specific warzones - Add a few different maps for huttball - Don't let groups disband at the end of a warzone - Allow for full premades to queue for warzones together - Add more PvP brackets (levels 1-24, levels 25-49, Valor ranks 1-30, Valor ranks 30 and up) but give max level characters the option to queue all valor ranks together. - Remove elite and champion guards from cities/outposts on PvP servers - PvP gear should be as useless for PvE as PvE gear is for PvP - Rakatta gear should be better than Columni gear - Don't make people go through drop down menus before they can search the GTN - Make the 'useable by' option actually work - Add additional drop down menu for armor subdivisions (ie. boots, helm, bracers, etc) - Make it so right clicking on an item in your inventory with the GTN open automatically searches for that item - Allow us to list items for bids rather than only buyouts - Don't rely so heavily on RNG to learn patterns for reverse engineering (instead of rolling a D20, roll a D6 maybe) - Make it so each crew skill actually matters to end game (eg. Synthweavers can add +10 of their chosen stat to 1 piece of their equipped gear, Armstechs can add +10 of their chosen stat to their weapon, etc) - Give us more stuff to do at end game (factions, mounts, crafting recipes, pets, something, anything) - Make the codex a real achievement window that actually works (I know I've found 3 datacrons on this planet why does my codex say I've found 1?!) - Fix the broken crap BEFORE you put it on live servers I really do think I could go on forever... Why does this stuff get to me? Because this game had years of hype. It's made by a company that I've had the utmost faith in (though they let me down with DA:2 also). It's in a world that is massively popular. It's seen the successes and failures of dozens of other games to learn from. It had millions of dollars put into it. And yet a brand new, no-name company with a pathetic budget gave me better (I'm talking about Trion's Rift, by the way). Star Wars: The Old Republic was and is advertised as an MMO but it really isn't much more than a glorified single player RPG with optional co-op.

  18. Oh really?! You're telling me that *I'm* the one that cannot read?! First of all, I didn't say ANYTHING about fixing code. Second, you know NOTHING about me. For all you know I could be a BioWare Developer so don't try to talk down to me like I don't know anything. Believe it or not, I understand the process of going through pages and pages of text to find the bit of code that's causing a problem. I am also capable of being forgiving of some bugs as this is a brand new game. What I cannot forgive is the outstanding amount of bugs this game launched with. Some of them are merely comical (eyes clipping through cheeks), some are mildly frustrating (dialogue choices not showing on the conversation wheel), some are nearly inexcusable (bosses not dropping loot), some make the game near un-playable (people not being able to get into operations even though they aren't saved, bosses reseting or re-spawning, people falling over dead for absolutely NO reason, etc) and many of these bugs were reported in BETA. Why exactly am I paying BioWare just to beta test their game?! And why can't I even get a response to my tickets that pertains to my complaint?! And why does every Star Wars/BioWare fanboy/girl have to jump down my throat for wanting a game to improve?!
  19. It's a single player RPG. Graphically, it seems a bit behind the times - kind of like a cross between WoW and Fable. As it was a demo, I didn't get to play for more than an hour but the story was fairly interesting. The class system is kind of like the Elder Scrolls games in that you can equip anything and use both physical and magical attacks but to become proficient at them you need to use them often. The combat felt smooth and responsive. A little more action based than I'm accustomed to for an RPG but it worked. The little bit of the world that I got to explore felt relatively open and explorable. Overall, if I have nothing better to do, Kingdoms of Amalur is a game I'll probably pick up.
  20. Why does everybody say this?! Nobody gives a flying rat's behind about what WoW did or did not launch with. What I care about is THIS GAME - Star Wars: The Old Republic. It did NOT come anywhere near my already low expectations (not being a fan of Star Wars and not being impressed by the tidbits released by BioWare to pump up the hype) and they aren't doing much of anything to try to improve.
  21. I played the Kingdoms of Amalur demo (which actually wasn't half bad) and got something for ME3. Can't remember what it was though. >.<
  22. You know the funny part. I really didn't play much at all. I don't log on at all from 7-1530 due to work. Again, due to work, I'm off the computer every night by 2300 at the latest (weekends I might be on a bit later). I have a daughter that I enjoy doing things with and she's still young enough to enjoy doing things with me. I cook dinner nearly every night and also enjoy baking. I spend time with my spouse doing things like watching movies (watched 50/50 the other night - I definitely suggest it - not as funny as I anticipated) and TV shows (we watch Spartacus, Glee, Once Upon a Time, Forensic Files, New Girl and just about anything on the Science Channel). We go to concerts regularly (the City and Colour concert on the 17th was absolutely AMAZING) and enjoy a 'date night' (goodness I feel old saying that). We even took about a week off around the holidays to travel and spend time with friends and family. There were/are also many MANY days that I don't log on simply because there was/is no real reason to.
  23. 1. Finished my class quest. 2. Finished all quests on Belsavis, Hoth, Korriban, Dromund Kaas, and Quesh. It gets boring grinding quests that give you a pathetic amount of credits and legacy experience. Especially since I have no idea what benefits these legacy levels will get me (i'm currently 1 little bubble from legacy level 18). Also, having to sit through 1-6 minutes of voiceover to figure out where I need to go to kill/collect/interact with X of Y gets old REALLY fast. 3. I'm well geared from a PvE standpoint. But why bother PvPing when I'm just going to get DESTROYED by all the people wearing full Champion gear. That isn't fun. I might be more inclined to PvP if I didn't always end up in Huttball too. Gearing through PvP is even more frustrating than through PvE. There's far too much RNG for a game that depends on the loot treadmill to keep people playing. 4. I actually do have all of my companions at 10k. It's not like that was hard at all. The codex tells you what kind of gifts and conversation choices they like. Also, only your first companion actually sends you on quests. The rest only do cinematic cut scenes that are surprisingly dull. 5. I'm almost to social rank 5. Maybe if BioWare would actually fix the bugs affecting social points, I'd have that maxed already too. 6. I'm not in a guild. There's no real reason to be in a guild, at least not on my server. 7. Yes, as I like playing thin characters, I've had no problems getting the datacrons. I think it took me 2 days (not focusing solely on them though) to get them all. 8. Already done all the space missions millions of times. Also, as you open new ones, they aren't really new. Just slightly harder. 9. I have multiple alts. Unfortunately, due to the EXTREMELY linear planet/level progression, I typically give up around level 30 because doing the same stuff over and over again isn't appealing. 10. My main has had her 3 crew skills maxed for a long time now. My alts aren't even max level and some of them have maxed professions. Why? Because I don't have to do ANYTHING to level professions in this game. 11. Nope, my codex is not full filled out. It's pretty darn close though. Maybe I would have bothered to fill it out entirely if it told me what I already had in each category. 12. Yep, done most of the World Bosses as well. At level 50, most of them can be killed solo or with one or two other people. As my spouse happens to play the game with me, that's what we did. One of the ones on Hoth was bugged when we tried him though (kept resetting at 20%). 13. Companions deserve end game gear, eh? I disagree. The one companion that I use is decked out. One of my companions that can dps or tank is also decked out. Don't really care about the rest. Least of all 2V-R8. If I could, I'd deactivate him. 14. Valor....I already discussed my opinion on valor. 15. Already gotten all the gear I can from dailies. I'm also sitting on a VERY comfortable amount of credits (lets just say I'm WELL over a million). There's no reason to do any more dailies. Most people aren't really complaining about a lack of things to do. They're complaining about the lack of fun, interesting and REWARDING things to do.
  24. Nope. Still can't abandon quests Still can't collect some gathering nodes Still have ability delay on instant cast, off the GCD abilities Pets still occasionally turn on abilities I've turned off Still can't emote while mounted And many more I'm quickly losing patience. GW2, D3, Tera, something, anything, hurry up and come out. Hell, I'm actually playing KOTOR right now instead of SWTOR. I'm even thinking about picking up FF13-2....
  25. Yeah, I'd be highly amused and slightly irritated. Why? Because Pandas don't fit into the lore of the world. Just like gnomes and goblins don't. But in WoW, they aren't really that outlandish. Pandaren have been in the lore of the world for a long time now. Grow up and get over WoW already. Enjoy SWTOR for what it is and quit trying to put other games down.
